You can’t complain if you got spoiled now

Bullet points cause I think I had a point but I clearly lost the plot at some point

I’ve seen some people complain about the differences between the podcast and the show, and I just wanna say that I love it! I like the friends grandma better than the weird homeless guy cause she brought more world building for the implications of what that world would look like.

There was absolutely a bunch of people that were forgotten about. Teens pulling all nighters, babies who probably woke up in the middle of the night just in time for no one to be awake to care for them. All the dogs awake but confused as to why their owners doors never opened again. It’s sad, it’s horrible, I made myself sad thinking about it just now. There were people left behind that never knew what was happening

I was so incredibly happy that Mateo survived. He was my favorite and I was so sad watching the show knowing it was coming, but it pleasantly surprised me. And in the podcast when it was just Linda and Dave it made me go “ah… great. Ooo only a girl and a guy left, how shocking.”

I am sad that the funniness of the guy in Dave’s dream asking for cigarettes was cut. But I likes the more monster vibes rather than the ‘mysterious jungle tribe and spirits’

(I know that we will probably get some of that back if cleared for season 2 but still)

Ultimately, I’m glad it wasn’t a 1 for 1 remake with no changes. And it never was going to be. Television and podcasts are two very different mediums and it’s wrong to expect it to be.

I also wish we could have had some more horror elements but I know the budget was limited (Dave’s dream sequence in episode 8 would have been cool but so hard to do effects for) and hopefully we get a season 2 with a higher Amazon budget.

I also really hope that people know that it isn’t only popular cause hot YouTube man was in it. I personally would have watched it even if Mark wasn’t in it, I’ve been following its production as much as I could ever since the tv show was announced and Mark was flown out to Canada to film. It’s popular cause hot YouTube man is a good actor, it was made by very talented people, and it’s a great story.

I don’t know what I’m saying anymore, I really liked the show and I binged it while at work. If we don’t get a season two I will be sad and disappointed that The Plan™ didn’t work. (I think it will work but I’m afraid of big daddy Amazon nuking it like Netflix-does-actual-good-original-series just because the industry is scared of anything outside their status quo)

i also now realize i accidently gave him Seth's number... wow. but believe me, Mateo's sm worse. i love mi princesita Seth. i don't even like Mateo. (jk. but like, he sucks a whole lot before he gets his redemption arc. interpret that however you want.)

he's one of the seniors of the team, he's 5'9 and fucking bitter about it, he studies Spanish because he is a lazy mf who has no plan but to go Pro (fortunately he will)

106% fuckboi energy fr he's insufferable

at the start of the new season (when Jean joins) he is still crabby about Laila having rejected him when he asked her out after their loss to the Foxes (in my universe/wip, Lailalvarez are not together yet bc i want to explore their relationship from the beginnings :) )

Mateo isn't really interested in Laila anyway, though, and he doesn't know why 1) it still stings and 2) he even asked in the first place (perhaps because they are the golden goalie duo of USC, perhaps because she is better than him and has broken records, perhaps because of something else...)

he's also such a bitchy asshole to Jean, because Jean is a beast on the court and Mateo is jealous

he's single and a v because he is waiting for marriage and the right girl (siiiiiiiiike!) (still fuckboi aura tho he's that extra)

comes from a very religious household and he is a practicing believer

he doesn't really have any friends on the team (sad) because he is so prickly and bitchy, but everyone is still kind and open to him because he is very reliable on the court, in the goal, and he does not second-guess or question authority, he's very good at following orders and instructions, always aiming for the best

and though it's good for everyone that he stays in goal because of his problematic attitude that would get the Trojans carded if their opponents heard him talk, the power of bitch he possesses is also a great asset, as he easily makes any enemy player lose their temper with his saccharine remarks paired with a Colgate smile

now! the plot twist!

Mateo is what you would get if internalized homophobia + comphet had two legs and an attitude problem

he is as homophobic as Seth and Aaron were, and even more if I dare say, and though he's never outwardly a hater and never uses slurs (at least he holds back on that for Jesus), he's such a bitch about homosexuality... it makes him so angry and queasy, he'll be rude af to you, he'll leave the room fuming, not participate in conversations, that kind of thing. he tries very hard to forget about Jeremy, to overlook it, and he's not like Lucas, questioning Jeremy's decision because of his sexuality, but it's so much better when Jeremy is single... (ik how this sounds, but believe me when i say he does not have a repressed crush on Jeremy, or Jean. that's just his Exy inferiority complex.)

thing is, it becomes incredibly difficult for him to ignore all of that gayness when Laila and Alvarez get together (oh), when Levi suddenly drops Angie to get closer with their assistant coach, when Jeremy clearly has a huge thing for Jean, the Drivers come out with their own gay thang, when Coach Rhemann himself gets his shit together with his long-lost broody ex... Mateo is literally surrounded by homos.

and sure, the wlw stuff never really bothered him, didn't get the appeal (and why do you think Mateo!!!), but with almost all of his authority figures dabbling in the gay, Mateo is kind of a caged animal, and he's bound to lose control and do some very stupid things, like start fights, get benched, punch a wall or 2...

oh, and there's Yanko too.

infuriating ginger man that won't leave him the fuck alone. mountain man of steel who is somehow always right, and chill. the designated Mateo-handler, apparently, because Jeremy had to delegate that hot potato to someone with less... undesirable traits to Mateo (i'm not sure yet how the rest of the team handles his outbursts bc he's not open about why he has them, not very vocal, but there's definitely a specific thing wrong at play here whenever they happen, and maybe Jeremy has an inkling, idk, tbd)

so it really comes out of NOWHERE. nobody, NOBODY has a fucking clue. least of all Mateo. then suddenly Yanko has had enough and pushes Mateo into a wall, and kisses him, very publicly, and Mateo kisses back.

there's a whole lot that goes on behind the scenes before that first fiery PDA, and after that it all goes downhill for a while before balance is found again. anyhoo. enemies-to-lovers ftw ✊

Mateo's family is very loving and supporting of him btw <3

Edge of Sleep thoughts, spoilers ahead

Written while actively watching

There is a lot to be said about visuals in the show, it takes almost an analog method with a lot of the world building and dream parts

There are also a bunch of changes from this and the original, such as the veteran being cut

The symbology from the original is very much there, stronger because of the ability to make small visual references

I love that they atmospherically use older technologies and music, adding to the atmosphere quite well

The soundtrack is very strong, and uses some recognizable tracks aside from the older songs used for vibes

There are a lot of minor adjustments and pacing changes, but it seems to be telling the same story overall

The Condition is, I mean distinctly supernatural, and I do have some mild problems with how it falls into the "Mental illness is black magic" stuff, obviously not as bad as shit like Split, but still not good™

Mateo is my guy just like the original, realest man alive

The special effects could use a little bit, but are pretty great for as indie of a production as this is

The addition of the old woman with cancer makes an interesting additional survivor, and depending on how they play a later scene is going to make things hit hard

Dave's inability to communicate certain things is fascinating

Doctor Castaneda is a fantastic character I love him deeply he's not changed since 1973 and I hope he never does

The show seems to be avoiding a lot of the tribal fetishism the show fell into

POOR BABY DAVE WHAT THE FUCK NOT THE DOCTOR

this version puts more of the blame on Dave and his decision to try "protecting" Katie from what he saw ending the relationship, which I do like

Modapholist feels like less of a deus ex machina, and more like a natural effect of the slightly different medical technologies of this world

They skipped the easy Inception joke, which is good evidence of how the mechanics of the show don't fall into the trap of MCU-ing away the tone of the story as so many modern horror productions do

It feels more like a total restructuring then just a port of the show to a new medium, to its credit

This is paced more like a long movie then a television show

Fuck amazon for definitely trying to drown this, I hope it reaches number one

Subtle references to the plot of the original show, like the cutting off testes comment in the dream

The performance from Mark is really intricately emotional, heart wrenching at times

The thirst scene from the original is so well translated

The situation feels actually more hopeless without a human antagonist early on to hate, same is true with the Zombies being removed, having so much more of an intangible threat makes things feel more inevitable

I was always a little unsatisfied with how things ended with the original show, curious to see what changes

Mateo's self doubt in flying feels very real and tracks well with himself overall

Losing Katie hit, the emotions on that felt very raw, especially with cutting the theme music the episode after

I don't think I really communicated the epicness of a lot of the shots, not necessarily anything daring, but absolutely great

The tensions don't ease with landing on the island, and that's good, feels like more of a struggle overall

Dave's previous experience not giving him any edge, but giving him experience feels right

There being other survivors feels good, allowing the world to have some grander chance of recovering almost

Dave feels so real in being pissed at the situation still not being over, Dave just generally Feels real

Linda is incredible too, our main cast is all so powerfully human

OH FUCK THE ZOMBIES ARE A THING

With Amazon's treatment of the show I doubt that we're going to get more, and I don't know if I want there to be more, in the modern sequel culture we're really not getting a good old fashioned "The End...?" Like a lot of classic horror had

Random but why do I get the feeling that whenever Mateo feels like his losing his patients with filips antics he has to remind himself ' keep it together Mateo don't be too hard on one of the few victors that 10 gets ' 😮‍💨😮‍💨

Don't think I've said Filip was troubled before the games

but for Mateo imagine he would be the sort of kids that would get into fights with other teens and just blow up on people when people pushed his buttons enough

But yeah think he grew out of it after the games, but he still doesn't have that much patient and probably has some of that Toxic Masculinity ™ so would have that

News from the Shopping District

There has been a lot of activity in the Shopping District as of late, with shops getting busier likely due to the time of year, so I’ve decided to make a little recap of the past few weeks!

Several newer citizens have been taking the time to tour around the shopping district to explore and meet potential friends, and many citizens are seeing familiar faces in nearby shops. There are people that may or may not be going on dates, and others learning that they have more freedom to be who they are and enjoy life more, and yet more who are just visiting their shopkeeper friends. 

Our own Roo has been venturing around, meeting new people and making friends, and we are all very proud because socialization is difficult.

Open Mic Night at Get Vexed Diner, run by citizen Atelo, is always an amazing option if you want to sing to your favorite song without getting judged. Citizen Stitches, a plushie shop, is temporarily closed so that co-owner Jax can have a day off. Nox, of Nox’s Flowers (and Sculk Clearing), could probably use some positivity in these trying times.

There are several shops open dedicated to clothing, a few bookshops with mysterious owners, places where art drives the entire shop, several bakeries, and the well known Overseer Headquarters, among others like the pirate ship off in the distance that sells various treasures and trinkets.

There are so many talented shopkeepers that if we were to name all of them, the list would be longer than the wait for someone to get home so you can see their response to your latest message.

Not everything is fun and games, however. A shop has had to close down in the past few weeks due to a shift in management and repairing damage done to various parts of it. The Pharmacy™, formerly run by citizen Ender, has been taken over by citizens Avid and Cordelia (a new addition to the server) because of an incident last week involving sculk catalysts, a frying pan, several unsuspecting bystanders, and a mooshroom island. The two have been giving their best efforts to de-sculkify the shop and fix it up so it can get up and running again, but it is a slow process.

Other places have been affected by sculk spread, with several shops, including The Pharmacy™ and Nox’s Flowers (and Sculk Clearing), being visited by a citizen by the name of Mos, who is having a midlife crisis at the ripe old age of seventeen, but that is about par for the course of the Hermitcitizen Lifestyle™. If anyone sees them, just be careful.

I also write bearing a suggestion from Raidne of Raidne’s: Tailoring and Outfits for All Occasions and a newcomer, a skeleton named Roman with a pretty cool cape and active hatred of the sun. Please consider, if you haven’t already, that there are a lot of people on the server who can’t be out during the day due to the lack of shade and being partially or fully mob. If you can, if you have a shop, it might be a nice idea to have covered walkways in the shopping district so that people who are hurt by the sun can still come around and say hello.

Scarland Volcano ready for action!

Following the recent opening of Scarland, work has begun on the park's next area, Adventureland! Alongside stunning gardens, and Ellie the Elephant, this area will feature the long awaited Volcano of Scarland! Made using almost 50 000 blocks, this attraction towers over even the main castle, and is surrounded by seemingly charred forests, and is buried deep in the jungle! Wander through Adventureland to see it for yourself, it’s impossible to miss!

With many rides, plenty more secrets to come and more areas being built up, we here at the Overseer can’t wait to see where Scarland will take us next!

As the only one who remembers her bio parents (she was 5 when they died, Carla survived a car accident and they didn't), Carla chose to hyphenate her last name to honour them and gets very annoyed when people only call her by one of them

Carter Brice is the same age as Josh St James and they've been friends for most of their lives, and Kaia & Malia Brice were high school friends of Amelie Kline, Lindsay Wright, and Franny Fabray

Carla has spent her life doing community theatre with both Josh and Shelby Corcoran and they're both part of the family, she also considers Jesse to be an honorary extra sibling, and there is always an extra bed at the Brice house for anyone who might need it, their children's friends are all considered family

After The Incident™, Carla's dads seriously discussed moving out of Lima, but that would have also involved moving four children 11 and under, so instead Carla asked if she could move in with her uncle Al and favourite cousin Sugar, and she lived with them until Al and his wife (Kamilah Motta) decided to get a divorce, which led her to finally returning to her dads and siblings for her sophomore year of high school

I love love love TK interacting with his in laws. I have a soft spot for Carlos with Gabriel too and both of them with Carlos' sisters. Basically just all the family feels.

As for the 126 - shenanigans™ all round! Maybe something like Owen bringing his horse over to the firehouse for Christmas - instead of a girlfriend, Enzo showing up with a fancy car that wasn't bought with fraud money, the catan crew arguing over playing a different game but going back to catan in the end, a safe haven drop off - but it's a litter of puppies/kittens/other cute animals, someone other than Carlos cooking christmas dinner and Carlos is *eye twitch* absolutely fine with that. Something that switches the usual "roles" up a bit.

And I do prefer Nancy with Marjan instead of Nancy/Mateo and Marjan/Joe.

But don't feel like you HAVE to include any of this though! They're just little things that popped up in my head just now. I'm sure I'll love whatever you come up with.

Eddie shakes his head and looks away, his cheeks flushing at the fact that he had been caught staring. “We’re not.” Henry looks down at Eddie, confused. “No?” He pauses for a moment, looks in Buck’s direction and then back to Eddie, reassessing. “But you’re in love with him?” he asks gently. Eddie thought about lying, but there is something about Henry that makes it almost easy to tell him the truth. Eddie also had a feeling that had he tried to lie, Henry wouldn’t believe him anyway. Eddie’s gaze finds its way back to Buck. Taking in his curls, the look on his face, the way he seems so relaxed and at peace. Jo/Laurie (????)

This is hard, because I don't know whether I ship it or not. I do but I don't. I think if I were to guess I'd say overall, I primarily don't except for Winona Ryder!Jo/Christian Bale! Laurie from Little Women (1994). I guess I'm going to go with "no" overall, because honestly as much as I love that adaptation, Christian Bale Laurie is arguably too "cool"/suave compared to book!Laurie (who tbh is more than a bit pathetic sometimes). Like I'm genuinely a little "What are you thinking?" when Winona!Jo turns Bale!Laurie down but I am mostly okay with it in all other incarnations. I do also mostly like Amy/Laurie and Jo/Bhaer as much if not more , so yeah I'm not really cut up about it Jo/Laurie not being endgame.

Why don’t you ship it?

For me, it's largely that there is a sense (more pronounced in some adaptions than others) that Laurie wants to be a March Girl™ (gender-neutral) more than he wants to be Jo's life-partner which is not really the idea ship vibe--even if I can't exactly blame him as I too would do almost anything to be a March Girl. Like sure Jo was his first choice by far and I do believe that his eventual relationship with Amy is genuinely based on more than "settling"--but I also feel relatively sure that he might have hypothetically settled for Beth or Meg under other circumstances. And that's just not a solid start for a relationship, if your s.o. could've hypothetically is always low-key considering your sibling as a backup plan if things go south with you too. (I mean you could say that the same is true of Laurie/Amy, but I do think it's less bad b/c Amy has literally been in love with Laurie since she was 12 and because overall their personalities "mesh" a little better than Jo/Laurie).

I also worry a bit about how Laurie's wealth might hypothetically impact the Jo/Laurie relationship. I do think that he would continue to be supportive of her writing and theatrical dreams, but I can also see him overcompensating/supporting her "too much." Unlike Bhaer, I don't think Laurie is capable of offering her constructive criticism that is necessary for her work to improve. He's too much of an inherent simp who thinks Jo March is already the most amazing human to ever exist (again can't totally blame him for that) to even conceive of the possibility that she has genuine strengths and weaknesses. I can also see him throwing his money and influence around a little in order to get her published/earning favorable reviews. Jo is fiercely independent and so achieving her dreams on her own terms/by her own merit is supremely important to her--arguably more important than her achieving them at all. Laurie interfering in her career even positively/with good intentions would inevitably cause a lot of conflict between them and create some self-doubt of Jo as to whether she really "earned"/"deserves" her success at all.

What would have made you like it?

As I mentioned I do sort of like it even as I also dislike it. I guess I would like it more consistently/wish it was endgame if Laurie was just a wee bit less eager/obsessed/convinced they were "meant to be." Also if we had a stronger sense that Jo herself wanted the romance specifically as opposed to just Laurie staying in her life. Another thing that makes me a little wary about Jo/Laurie is the meta-aspect of knowing that Louisa May Alcott was very adamant about not wanting them together. Her publisher pretty much insisted that Jo needed to find love in Part 2 and so she created Professor Bhaer in order to give Jo an alternate love interest

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

A lot, especially since I don't not ship it even if I don't ship it. Their "meet cute" scene at the ball is one of my favorite scenes in the book and arguably one of my favorite "character introduction scenes" in all of literature. I think that the two of them have great chemistry and a really supportive dynamic. They care deeply about each other and have so much fun together. (You see this as well in the sequels. Even though they're both romantically with other people, they are still go-to confidants and partners-in-mischief for each other).

I also think that narratively Jo/Laurie has to "work" on some level in order to justify the direction that story takes. The first time that you encounter the story, the reader/viewer needs to really like them together and assume that them being endgame is inevitable. It gives Jo's decision to reject his proposal more poignancy and agency. She needs to love him deeply and know that he loves her--even if they can't love each other in the same way--in order to fully be able to choose herself and her goals over him. If he's not an otherwise desirable option, her choice not to choose him isn't a real choice. She needs to be conflicted, tempted even, if her decision to prioritize her own dreams and needs over his and her family's is to hold any real weight.

And Alcott (and most of the adaptions) do a fantastic job of making Jo/Laurie seem plausible/desirable so that the rejected proposal emotionally fulfills its narrative purpose for Jo's character development (and a lesser extent Laurie's and Amy's as well).

Carla/Mateo (I ship it albeit very low-key though Carla probably deserves better)

What made you ship it?

Probably their interactions in late S3 most of all (especially the finale). I think there is clearly attraction and chemistry between them. They seem to have similar, slightly dorky and clumsy personalities that seem like they would mesh well. And shallow , I know, but their character models are also attractive and look good together.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

Is it bad if I say that I like how easily Rita!Carla was able to make Mateo look like the biggest fool in all Avalor?

I think there is a lot of potential for the two of them to bond. They're both very family-oriented, and I think there's a lot of potential for them to grow closer as being the only (and a little coddled/spoiled) children of very loving but somewhat smothering single parents (Victor and Rafa)--as well as missing their absent other parents (Ash and Mateo's father).

They are also arguably THE characters (well them, Victor, and Olivia) who are most actively interested in learning magic. (Gabe and Elena express some curiosity but specifically in the context of magic being a tool to protect the kingdom as opposed to something they want to learn just for itself). So it's nice to think of magic being another way that they can grow closer/flirt/have fun together.

I also adore the Delgado father and daughter relationship and enjoy thinking about how Carla/Mateo would impact Victor and his relationship with his daughter. Whether he's supportive (most likely) or hesitant (my personal head canon), it has the potential to be really fun/funny and heartwarming.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Carla/Mateo is one of the only Mateo ships that I can tolerate. Sorry not sorry. It's this and like two non-existent rare pairs . And even then, I don't think I am ever doing more than casually enjoying it, since my Mateo indifference is so strong. (I do really like Carla though and have a few more ships with her).

Gekko was brand new to the Valorant Protocol, and extremely proud to be there. While it’s no Los Angeles, it’s going to become a home to him… eventually.

In the short time he’s been at the Valorant Protocol, he’s definitely gotten himself into quite a few messes. But nothing could possibly be as bad as the position he was in now.

Sure, Wingman robbed Killjoy multiple times.

Yes, Dizzy once blinded Yoru as soon as he entered the room.

100% had Thrash almost tripped Neon over countless times throughout the base.

And yes, Mosh had most certainly made a few messes here and there.

But Gekko was pretty sure that making out with Pretty Boy ™ is definitely against the Protocol’s rules, but is it his fault that Phoenix’s lips fit perfectly with his? And is it his fault if it feels all too right?

Phoenix’s tongue pressed against Gekko’s lip, and of course he allowed Phoenix entry. Their tongues met and Gekko could feel Phoenix analysing his mouth. How Phoenix’s tongue ran across Gekko’s tongue piercing and paused before exploring once more.

Gekko gave Phoenix pleased hums as he ran is hands over Phoenix’s neck. Gekko dragged his hands to meet Phoenix’s cheeks so he could control the angle of his face, possibly making the pieces of the puzzle fit even better.

Phoenix ran his hands down Gekko’s side, sliding over his hips to meet at the small of his back. The two separated their lips to catch their breath and admire the other. Gekko’s face heated up as he made eye contact with Phoenix.

“Fuck you’re beautiful Gekko”

Gekko looked at him, really looked at him deeply. Passion sparked fiercely in Gekko’s eyes as he leant in close to Phoenix’s ear.

“Say my actual name, Jamie” Gekko whispered before leaning back to catch Phoenix’s expression. Phoenix gazed down at Gekko’s lips before looking back into his eyes. He leant in close to Gekko’s face, before whispering back.

“Mateo, you’re fucking beautiful”

Their lips met again, quickly regaining the rhythm that they left off with. They grasped onto each other as if they’d vanish through the other’s fingertips. Like a moth to a flame, Gekko let himself get caught up in it all.

He loved when Phoenix moved away from his lips to grace his neck with attention. How he was patient enough to wait until he got to Gekko’s collarbone before marking him with hickies.

He loved Phoenix praising him, craved it even. He whined from the loss of contact and relished in the warmth he felt when it was regained.

Gekko was obsessed with the feeling of Phoenix dipping under his shirt to graze his fingertips across his waist. How the light touches ignited a fire that burnt ever so bright for the source.

He was obsessed with it all, in love with not just Phoenix, but the experience as well. The moment was everything Gekko could’ve wanted and more, and nothing could’ve ruined it.

“Phoenix, Jett hurt her ankle in training today and we need you to fill in for her in today’s mission.” Sage’s soft voice was heard through the door. “I hope the short notice doesn’t bother you.”

“Nah, it’s calm.” Phoenix said as he and Gekko untangled themselves from each other. “I’ll be out in 5 yeah?”

“That works, thank you Phoenix” Sage’s disappearing footsteps were heard as the room fell into full silence. The realisation of what just happened very quickly drilled it’s way into the two’s minds.

“…”

“Fuck…” Gekko cursed

“That just happened…”

“Fuck…” Gekko repeated, starting to anxiously pace around the room. “Fuck Phoenix… this is…”

“This could be bad…” Phoenix finished. Gekko started to run his hands over his hair out of stress. The only sounds heard were the sounds of the two’s own heartbeats banging loudly in their eardrums.

“Oh man I’m brand new here… and I already recieve leniency because I’m new but this… mierda, estoy jodida.”

“Gekko, calm down, it’s gonna be alright—“

“Phoenix you have the luxury of being an established member of the protocol, but me? Phoenix I’m brand new— They don’t have anything to lose with me!” Gekko grabbed onto Phoenix’s shoulders, his gaze flicking between each of Phoenix’s eyes. Phoenix’s eyes did the same, before a loud smack was heard.

Gekko felt a tingling rush fill his cheek.

“Shit man I didn’t mean to smack you, I just thought it’d make you come to your senses a bit?” Phoenix stumbled over his words, before letting a spew of muted curses leave his mouth.

Gekko breathed deep for a few beats, letting himself calm down.

“Gekko, realistically she probably didn’t hear us. These walls are thick. Neon doesn’t hear anything and she’s next to Raze’s room, and you know that she’s definitely getting it on with Killjoy.” Phoenix tried to rationalise in attempts to soothe Gekko more.

“Yeah… you’re probably right.” Gekko let a heavy breath out before continuing “Also, it’s chill that you slapped me, it grounded me, so thanks. Just maybe don’t get into the habit of slapping randoms?” Gekko quipped, which Phoenix smirked at in response.

“Wouldn’t dream of it.” He smiled, before sighing. “I’d love to chit chat Gekko, but you heard the woman. Duty calls”

Phoenix made his way to the door, Gekko in tow. He held his hand on the doorknob, but paused before turning it.

“Gekko.”

Gekko blinked.

“Yeah?”

“Let’s not get interrupted next time, yeah?” Phoenix said before opening the door and leaving, which left Gekko standing in the doorway of Phoenix’s room.
