I'm sorry
Who is working on what, now-

I do love when Matt Heafy does things
A new Legacy of Kain graphic novel with an accompanying hard rock/metal soundtrack was not on my 2024 bingo card, but I am fucking happy to hear about it

For modern rockstar Eddie, I like to think he’d sound like Matt Heafy from Trivium. Hell, I think Corroded Coffin would have that metal sound ! I’ll post a link to a song for those interested in hearing 😊
He doesn’t exactly look like Eddie, but I think they have the same rockstar vibes!

I mean….come on! Lol
Ok. I’ve voiced my thoughts.

Matthew Heafy:
I started singing and screaming in Trivium around the year 2000 or so. When I first joined the already 2 week old local band Trivium, I was just the lead guitar player.
When our original singer left, after fruitless searches for a singer, Travis said to me: “you’re gonna be the singer now.”
For the next 15 or so years, I would sing and scream however I could - trying to discover my style and sound (which I felt quickly showed itself - only I didn’t have the proper technique down). The voice held till 2014 with this “technique” till I finally blew it out.
We discovered it was a combination of incorrect technique and not knowing how to warm up or train or practice. For the next 10 years, I trained under Ron Anderson, unlearning the bad habits and rigorously training 5-7 days a week, 1-4 hours a day to get the proper training.
About 2-3 months ago, under the encouragement of Ashley, Justin my manager, Paolo, Corey, and Alex - I started working back at trying to find a way to make the “old techniques” work sustainably under the training of the “new techniques”.
Well, it worked. After 26 years of singing and screaming, I can confidently say that I can sing and scream better than I ever have. The grit is tougher than the Shogun grit, the screams are more menacing than Ascendancy, the cleans more powerful and with range than ever.
I finally got to unleash quite a bit of it at our Metal And Honey show, and it felt so good.

#trivium#matt heafy#instagram#longtime trivium shogunate know how big a fucking deal this is#i've seen them live a few times and i'll get the privilege of seeing them again in april for the poisoned ascendency tour with bfmv#another band i've been a fan of for a very long time and have seen a few times live#and when i tell you ascendency raised me i'm not fucking kidding#trivium was one of my first metalcore bands#and was one of the bands that ignited the passion i have for the genre today#they're not really metalcore these days but ascendency is an early metalcore staple#so to see that matt has mastered his original vocal style in a healthy way#just in time for the 20th anniversary album play tour for an album that helped shape who i am today?#yeah i'm fucking stoked for this show#i saw them way back in 2007 on the family values tour#well before matt blew out his vocal cords#and i remember well how he sounded#and i am still very partial to his original vocal style despite how clearly unhealthy it was#sonically i enjoyed it more than i like his 'current' style#so i am VERY happy that he'll sound more like he did way back in the day#but better! and healthier!

Heaven Shall Burn: Heimat - Album Review
They called it Heimat. I spat when I first saw the name. That word’s been weaponized more than half the so-called ‘defense budgets’ on this dying planet. ‘Homeland’, say it out loud and listen for the jackboots. Feel the phantom trench coat button itself over your ribs. But Heaven Shall Burn aren’t fools, and they know damn well that naming an album Heimat is like planting a flag in a field…
