Every day of my life, living in a shitty suburb of Chicago, I am tortured. Because whenever anyone in my apartment sees anything referencing Chicago, you just get a cacophony of, "CHICAGO MENTIONED. CHICAGO MENTIONED," like the fuckin seagulls from Finding Nemo.

When I was a teenager in a very unaccepting environment, I was snuck into a gay kid club meeting by my friend (also gay) and his parents. There were three adults there leading the group. And we did usual group stuff, highs and lows, etc.

But during highs and lows, one of the adults spoke about helping his parents out that week with their lawn or something. He mentioned about his past and transitioning. And I realized he was a trans man. Like me. And he was old. (I mean mid 40s at the oldest but old to a 16 year old.)

He got old.

I ran up to him at the end of the meeting and told him thank you.

I didn't know we could get old.

For every middle aged trans man, there's a young one now realizing that life doesn't have to end at 23.

as a child there's nothing cooler than a kid who gets subjected to evil experiments and gains special abilities. it's even cooler if these abilities also cause unfathomable suffering to use/against others. children love stories like this.
