例年、間を置いて聴くとスキップしたくなる曲がいくつかあったのですが、流行りものだったり、居もしない誰かに対する忖度だったりで削り切れていない曲が含まれていたからで、今年は絶対に何年でも聴き続けられるように絞りに絞りました。

Finally got around to resuming my KR Fourze and Kiva watchthrough after leaving it hanging since early May for Faiz so I'll dump my overall thoughts on episodes 27-28 of both shows here (SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT)

🚀 Fourze 🚀 Really liked Ryusei's development here, it was nice to see him be genuinely worried for Gentaro and the others so he could save them from Kijima and get his new form (which I think is cool, also his staff goes hard) Also rest in pieces Kijima, may I never see you again 🤭

🦇 Kiva 🦇 In case the last few Faiz episodes weren't enough for me and my poor soul, Inoue had to go and sneak in some wild time travel shenanigans to break me even more (except with confusion instead of emotional devastation this time) Also Nago's flanderization arc finally starts the moment Maya, Yuri, and Otoya all bitch slap him into being less annoyingly Catholic while they're still being unfortunate victims of Inoue's usual love dodecahedron shenanigans

honestly i've got no clue about any classes. most of what i know about drawing came from grandma and this one class where a prof taught me how to play around with graphite thickness. as for learning in general, i've always loved just observing, studying manga artists' work and trying to imitate it. ex; sui ishida - takehiko inoue

learned 3D modeling in zbrush during my career - maya software; took a big leap bc if you know 3D you can model and light to your liking. even if ur modeling looks terrible, doesn't matter, it's only a ugly base so u can visualize the pose / lighting / structure better

sending u a random tutorial would be to make it look like i learned that way, i didn't. try picking a painter, mangaka, comic artist you enjoy and try to mimic their stuff. if you can find clips of them working and see how they move the pencil or brush that's where the good stuff is

on a related note, i tend to be a very temperamental person and that leads me to wonder how i manage to get past my frustrations, but here i am lolol. when i was like 10 i used to watch james baxter's video of him drawing the Spirit horse on repeat. downside was that anxiety gnawed at me and i wanted to be as good as him in a snap of a finger. don't be like my child self, give yourself time. hope this helps and isn't a nothingburger

Thinking about ryuki episode final and man, the more time passes the more sad and disappointed that movie makes me lol

I really dug it for the first half and somewhere along the way after that it just... really lost its steam for me.

And miho... i love you, if only inoue also loved you and actually gave you good writing.

Ryuki is a near perfect show to me, but it is a damn shame miho was relegated to being a movie only rider. There was a lot of potential with her.

(I wouldn't be linky if i didn't get extremely attached to a woman who only shows up in one film for a given series, and doesn't have much screen-time in the whole grand scheme of said film. Shout-out to Maya from Arcadia of My Youth I love her)

Introducing, Maya Inoue! She’s a supporting member to the cast and Radiant☆Star’s biggest fan (although, unless you see her wall of merch for yourself, she’d never admit it to your face). A former member of Marvel!Us when they started in her second year, she quit the unit to focus on her studies and her job as her school’s student body president. She has a very responsible nature, although she can be quite strict when it comes to the management of the student body; and she’s double strict when it comes to anything related to Radiant☆Star. Although she’s no longer on the unit, she was roped into being their manager by Wakana and Mimi. Most commonly you can hear her say, “Dame da!!/That won’t do!!” when she’s fed-up with the unit’s antics. Also, surprisingly, she is Sakura’s older cousin.

Ollie loved his parents, and his parents loved him. It had been tough at first, Ren and Faye had a bunch of their own shit they had to get through. But things got better. They provided for him as well as they could, but the truth was his parents were hardly … parental. They were more his friends than his parents. Ollie did what he wanted to do. Discipline didn't really exist in the Inoue household. Not that they didn't try to put their foot down. High School had been rough because they all fought constantly. Ollie didn't tell them where he was, Ollie lied about where he was, Ollie skipped too many days of school in a row, etc, etc, etc… He never took their punishments seriously, because they'd never pushed him before then. A more normal parent -- like Monty's -- would absolutely never let their elementary school age child determine where they would go to school. His parents had, and that was only the tip of the iceberg. He loved Ren and Faye Inoue. He trusted them, and depended on them for support. But they were far from good parents. Nature over nurture had taken Ollie far enough though, luckily.

He was much too interested in his side conversation with Monty to be too concerned with their parents discussing schools, though. Something about how easy it was to fall back into the routine of banter, and closeness held more interest to Ollie. Even if there was a bit of performance to it, just so nobody asked any questions as to why they were being so weird. They were too in sync with each other for things to appear weird between them. "Nooo," Ollie insisted with a grin, "we would have been good. We would have figured it out. It would have been so good." His thoughts very likely spinning much more positive than Monty's. Meeting at Freshman Orientation, or even before that on some school tour, and sharing socials… He thought they would have had a lot of fun. Maybe they wouldn't even be in their current situation, or maybe fate had cast those dice a long time ago.

HIs attention was drawn back to their parents the same as Monty's was, though. His eyes moving from Maya back to Monty's face as they spoke, as if trying to determine if he should attempt to derail this conversation somehow. Probably, but his own mom stepped in first. "I don't even think they try to keep their own kids safe," she said, shaking her head, "that ski trip was a mess. They were all put in danger, and that poor girl…" She waved her hand around to indicate their surroundings, "and look at where we are. Like we're not supposed to see this as some obvious statement that 'the school is doing so good. look how we caught the person we're going to say is responsible'. Even though she's clearly not--"

"Where's Gabriel?" Ollie asked, cutting in to interrupt his mom. Earlier he had said he was going to walk around the quad to look around, and Ollie knew that. But he was gently butting in to indicate that maybe this conversation shouldn't happen if he was not here (or period, even). Then he looked around with a frown, "… maybe this isn't something we should talk about y'know in the middle of a bunch of… Well, we just don't know who is over hearing anything." As if Ollie hadn't brought it up about fifty times that night. He wasn't convinced Monty had really told his parents much of anything, and maybe a crash course in the middle of the commons wasn't the best idea. "Actually!" He turned towards Clark and Maya with a bright smile on his face, like he'd just come up with a great idea, and maybe a tasteful way to break the conversation up for the time being. "We're all going out with my roommate to get Thai after this -- If you all want to come? It could be fun, less stuffy, less people intending to use Thanksgiving to squeeze donations out of you all…" He glanced towards Monty uncertainly.

"She did," he insisted, just about one stubborn step away from crossing his arms and pouting over it, another tutting sound heard from his mom. "She was a bully," Monty muttered, more of an aside to Ollie than anything else. Realistically, he'd probably been just as rude in kindergarten (the biting spoke for itself), but who could remember so far back? His childhood was nothing more than a collection of crystalized memories, appearing in the form of snapshots lacking context, left up to Monty's shifting interpretation based on the moods of Now rather than the truths of Then. No one should ever take what he said all that seriously.

He sidled a little closer to Ollie because he couldn't help it -- because he missed their casual companionship like an aching tooth in need of fixing -- and wheedled him in the side with his elbow. Don't start brown-nosing now, he warned silently in a teasing look, his dad already responding with a more doubtful than flattered sort of snort while watching them. Coming from anyone else -- Ollie's parents, a respected professor, hell, even the dean -- he'd bet that his parents would be utterly incorrigible after hearing such an unlikely compliment, but there was no buying it, not even as a glib joke.

"He refused to go?" Clark interjected, sounding equally surprised and amused as his focus shifted to Faye again. Maya looked just as perplexed, if not more so, glancing in Ollie's direction now and again, as if she'd magically be able to figure him out simply by staring for long enough. What did you do so right? The concept of turning down a scholarship was outlandish. There was no way that Monty (or Sally) would've been allowed to do such a thing. For once, though, he was incredibly thankful for his parents' guest-pass-at-the-country-club veneer of manners, watching as they kept all their judgements to themselves, instead nodding politely, only listening and absorbing. It allowed him to answer Ollie with a smile, already starting to shake his head and move on.

"Right, and then we would've gotten to be clueless freshmen together," he remarked, snickering softly. "We would've been so fucked, dude." Monty had, of course, thought about what it would've been like if they'd started at Ogden at the same time. Maybe they would've been roommates. Maybe they never would've breached Greer's sacred inner circle of friends. Maybe he wouldn't've started selling drugs. The bit he considered the most, though, was that he and Ollie could've been graduating together, and neither of them would've been left behind.

Before his thoughts could drift in that direction and make him miserable, his mom was chiming in sternly, "I think you both have plenty to complain about." A confused glance was turned towards her, not sure what she meant until she added, "All you kids do." He recognized the slow-to-form frown on his mom's face, holding his gaze with the same concern she'd worn when she came home early one day in late July, joining him at the kitchen table with college transfer forms. Monty swallowed, his stomach swooping, immediately cagey to have his parents discuss… well, everything. He knew that Ren and Faye weren't the benefactor types who would get insulted and defend the grand institution of Ogden or some bullshit, but he thought of Sam and how unintentionally insensitive he knew his parents to be. He'd explained nothing, leaving them in the dark even when he came home with a hospital bill pinned to his arm, but they were trying to pay attention now. "It's just awful, everything you boys have had to deal with…" Clark wound a supportive arm around his wife's shoulders while she spoke, Monty wondering how many glasses of wine she'd already had tonight. Maya made a vague gesture around them, scoffing. "I mean, with all these influential and important people here… you'd think someone would have the resources to keep you safe. You're still practically babies, for Christ's sake."
