Moving Away From RAMCOA
So some of you may have caught onto the name that I'm using and associate "The Forlorn" with an older account of mine that I ran while in a cult of personality. That's right I was in a cult of personality when I ran that. Before "The Forlorn" it was "CulticHellVent" if my memory serves me. Both of which were connected to my identity Night Wyld that I later abandoned upon leaving the cult I was in at the time. I now go by Dusk Noir.
On both "The Forlorn" and "CultishHellVent" accounts I was really big into the concept of and the discussions surrounding RAMCOA. I identified myself as a RAMCOA survivor. But obviously my opinions have changed. Why is that? Well let's discuss.
What is RAMCOA
For a brief overview of RAMCOA I'll explain the meanings behind each of the three main parts of the acronym. I'll be as impartial as possible on this as my current opinion and feelings are not necessary to discuss quite yet.
RA = Ritual(istic) Abuse
This refers to abuse that is repetitive to the point it becomes a habit to react as if said abuse is about to happen. If your abuser specifically hurt you the most on Saturdays you may worry about the abuse happening or mentally feel it coming even years later on Saturdays.
MC = Mind Control
This refers to the way that one's mind may be altered by trauma and conditioning. Usually this pertains to things like brainwashing or behavior control. In some cases this refers to something called programming in many specifically Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID)/Hc-DID (HC meaning highly complex). HC-DID tends to be the term used by programmed systems. This essentially means that someone has been purposely induced into developing DID. In other cases it means someone hijacked the natural process of the disorder to force people to split alters and then attempt to make those alters behave in specific manners.
OA = Organized Abuse
Any group that conspires together to commit abuse on an individual or multiple individuals. This can span all the way from a small gang to things like the human experimentation done by Unit 731. They can be massive or small. Most commonly survivors of these online are cult, gang, or trafficking survivors.
RAMCOA as an acronym serves to cover those who have experienced extreme abuse. And often is used almost exclusively for those with DID. However the term bye itself does not erase those without DID.
It is a controversial term due to the fact that the ISSTD SIG is originally credited with its creations and some members of said panel are conspiracy theorists. There is also concern of ties to proclaimed Satanic Ritual Abuse (SRA) and the past satanic panic that leads people to believe RAMCOA is just a continuation of the same core idea. This unfortunately ignores those who've never claimed nor believe their abusers had anything to do with the occult or satanism.
My own stance on the term will be explained as we go along on this post.
My Experiences
I. Introduction
My first proper exposure to RAMCOA was when I was in a discord server for the system community. It was unfortunately Anti-Endo primarily (a stance I disagreed with) but allowed any and all stances of discourse in as long as you had DID, which I did. Over time I would see glimpses of what this thing was... And usually I saw people saying any amount of questioning whatsoever if you grew up in a cult or were trafficked will get you instantly killed. It will trigger something in your brain and force you to kill yourself if you're a real survivor!!! Never ever talk about it or look into it!!!
So I got curious and decided to revisit the source of the dread I had felt for years in spite of them. Was the church I grew up in a cult? Speaking of which I can't remember anything about it it's... I'm blocked from all of it. I used to be there literally every day ofu childhood without my...
Without my parents.
Every day.
I looked things up asked my mom about it and found that looking at it on Google Earth absolutely sent me into a spiral. I had a horrific amount of flashbacks but with help in therapy I worked through things and eventually I realized... I had always been right. Ever since I was scared I had grown up in a cult before we moved when I was 10, I was right. I was 12 the first time I started intensive research into cults. Maybe 14 the first time I wrote down the bite model for the church I grew up in before losing my shit over what I found and forgetting everything again.
Therapy helped more I began to write down memories when they came to me instead of screaming or crying and pushing them away and I knew I grew up in a cult. So I said it to my friends in that server. Of course cue them brutalizing me and screaming about how I was going to get people killed for daring to say the word cult. I was told I was the same as my abusers and any mentions of my suffering was disgustingly irresponsible and I should NEVER talk about it. And so I was isolated. You know who I ran to after they did this? The people who would go on to groom me for the next two years and break me so utterly and completely that I still on the rare occasion get nightmares.
II. Pandemonium
I at some point joined the discord server as a supposed activist for survivors of RAMCOA said "activist" claimed to have a portion of land in Ireland allotted for them in order to help house survivors of cults and trafficking. This was a server I did in fact find a childhood acquaintance in, something I am still to this day grateful for. However that was not the only thing. See this activist had a thing for going around and claiming everyone was connected to her own trauma and a global ring. Not even caring about the fact that people were usually at most only related due to dark web money for illegal videos.
This wasn't the end of her problems you see. She brought someone into the server. Someone she claimed was a survivor. Of course many people believed her, and as many did so foolishly I shared more private information such as the name of the cult I grew up in and pictures of myself as a child as well as talking a bit about the trafficking the youth pastor and his friend put me through. This individual who I had talked too later turned out to be actively working for a trafficking ring and trying to apparently pull this "activist" back into the ring. Of course this was shut down but she admitted to allowing this man in her server for survivors even while knowing what he was and planning to "expose him". But I suppose endangering numerous others is fine. I still have confusing feelings and am quite unsure of what to even begin to believe about this situation.
The final straw for me leaving outright was a mix of horrific incidents. Though I took a while to leave because I was busy being groomed and abused- I did have enough time to catch some of the horrific details. Said "activist" trafficked a child to Ireland with the help of others in the name of saving said child from other sex traffickers. They didn't have the legal ability to do so and instead of giving this poor kid a place to stay like they promised- she left them homeless on the streets. Oh and afterwards said "activist" was exposed to be a TERF so... That too.
Just to be absolutely clear that is not the correct way to try and help a child who is being trafficked. The best thing that you can do is find all the hotlines in their area, talk to them in depth and understand everything they have going on, and inquire about whether or not they can call these hotlines themselves or you need to. Call the hotlines, tell them everything you know. Make sure professionals are aware and are on the case. The professionals will know what to do better than you and they will have the resources to actually care for the child. Vigilante help and justice do not make victims safe.
III. Dependency
I ran as I said before, two different blogs centered on RAMCOA. During these being up I would get sent a large amount of asks some with far too much dependency upon myself. I understand that I was there as someone willing to give advice but some people went in depth with their trauma stories and gave very personal information. This is a trend with the community as a whole and very concerning. Putting all your faith in a 19-20 year old who's just beginning to figure things out isn't a safe bet. I should've put a stop to that kind of stuff sooner.
IV. Backlash
Both from within and outside of the broader RAMCOA and plural community I experienced excessive backlash to the point of constant waves of harassment. Often people would mock my experiences, purposefully try to trigger me, trauma dump about how the community affected them or similar. It was something that started to wear me down until I just couldn't take it anymore. You are objectively taken less seriously if you use the term.
Why I'm distancing from RAMCOA
As you can see I don't necessarily have the best experiences when it comes to the community in fact I would go as far as to say my experiences were quite poor. There were things I struggled to at first fully grasp were occurring within the community at the beginning. My brush up and run ins with a person who would go on to literally traffick a child (albeit the illegal kidnapping was for "good reasons" it was still child trafficking) has been more than enough reason on its own for me to avoid the community and subsequently the term like the plague.
Another reason I haven't fully touched on is the way it enabled my own delusions while I was deeply psychotic due to a mix of being abused and having undiagnosed schizoaffective disorder at the time. Now I'm on antipsychotics and have a better awareness but for a while I had convinced myself that due to my father's occupation working for the government the feds were in on my childhood trauma. I believed the feds must have been why I got trafficked and thus I was a human experiment and eyes were everywhere watching me. This also led to me believing I was a sleeper agent. This idea went fully unchallenged and in fact seen as rational due to my father's past occupation before his retirement. At least to the community. The reality is far sadder. My father's occupation made it so he was gone a lot and my mother was neglectful. My dad simply wasn't there to save me and my mom didn't care enough. That's the only way that federal agents were involved with my abuse. My own dad having to take his trips for work. It's something we've talked about together. He feels awful but we both know it wasn't his fault I was too young to have the words and he never knew.
The community itself is not responsible for my delusions coming up but the community does enable those who have additional delusions surrounding their trauma. You can't make up memories that you got trafficked, memories don't work that way. But you can make connections where there aren't any and be told by the people around you that you must be part of some secret "government programming" operation. I wasn't. There would be no reason to do that. Nothing to gain. My abuser gained by their abuse of me, money maybe status, and most certainly a sadistic form of pleasure.
The last reason I'm moving away is simply because I'm tired of my trauma being associated with conspiracy theories. I'm tired of explaining over and over the specifics of what I mean by certain words. Simply put it is best to just be blunt about what happened.
How I See It Now
I was abused to the point of developing severe and chronic disabilities that will forever impact me. My mind has been altered, I will never know who I would be without the cult. My very personality was molded by it before I understood what a personality even was. There were patterns to when times got worse and I still get sick with anxiety around those times. I was abused by a group, namely a cult with one fucked up youth pastor with unsavory criminal friends. I was at the wrong place at the wrong time. I wasn't special, I wasn't chosen, I wasn't even targeted uniquely. I was there. And so I was abused.
I want to stick with being candid about things and use language reflecting that. I want to talk about stuff without all the baggage of the term RAMCOA or it's new incarnation- Organized Extreme Abuse (OEA). It'll be more accessible to people in general.
Of course these are only my opinions, nothing concrete. But I hope someone felt heard or understood or perhaps understands me.

Just a little book rec for all sons of anarchy Fangirls:
Reapers MC by Joanna Wylde. It’s a series of six? Books and the male characters are all members of the same MC. The books are interconnected but can also be read as standalone. I loved the friendship between the male characters and some characters really reminded me of SOA characters.

It’s finally finished!! I’m happy at the update but also sad it’s ended. I also loved the little sprinkling of characters in modern times like Judge Wylde and Dr. Orwyle. You just have to love the way Cozened Indigo’s tone shifted from glitz and glamor of Inventing Anna to something more somber and sinister. At first I thought, oh this is quite melancholy, are they just going to move on?
Aemond’s shift in personality reminded me of Cillian Murphy in Red Eye. His intensity is just 😳 also when he grasped OC’s hand at court, I felt like he was about to pull a Michael Gavey and burst out a “fuckin ask me a sum then”! Only he’d say “Say you’ll come to visit me”.
And OC, I feel bad for her but in all seriousness, there is no such thing as free lunch. The moment Larys said the least she could do was greet him because she got an interview, I thought, now she owes them but I wonder if she realized it. My heart sank when she did not even offer something, like a thank you basket, bottle of wine, or actually called Aemond, anything. Not sure if it’s because of my Asian upbringing but I was always taught if we were to visit someone for an interview, ask for a favor, or we were even just an invited guest (like a party, dinner, etc) we can’t show up empty handed.
Also, here’s a fun tidbit, my mom used to work in sales. She was a chemical supplier for hospitals and laboratories back in the day and that meant she’d interact with various people from rank and file to the top dogs. And one thing she always drilled in me was to avoid asking favors if I could help it. This meant declining free dinners or random gifts especially if they’re from higher ups or someone with power, because those will come at a cost later on. Maybe not monetary but acceptance of those favors meant you’re essentially the person’s lapdop or you’re indebted to them. This stems from our culture of debt of gratitude. It’s not the same as just paying it back because the value is something you can’t obtain yourself. In this case, we all know unless Larys stepped in, she’d still be part of The Wall with even no hope of getting close to the prison they’re holding Aemond.
So essentially, whenever someone did you a huge favor, it’s like an unwritten or unspoken rule to sort of offer your services to them or keep giving them gifts for major occasions like Christmas or their birthdays. And the kicker is, it’s impossible to quantify debt of gratitude into something like, 5 visits to Aemond and she’s cleared that debt. And let’s admit it, her career trajectory is something she could never pay off.
Also, I wondered when Aemond decided he liked her. I mean does he have genuine feelings for her or since Aegon said he took everything seriously, is it part of his collect a debt thing? I like to think Aemond has a tendency to fixate on things (wanting a dragon) and this was one of those. When I read dark stories, a part of me wants to lean in to it. So in this instance, I’ll probably imagine, this entails him and OC dating publicly as an insurance of sorts too so OC has no choice. I imagine he liked OC so aside from the threaten to ruin her career and life factor, he’ll behave like a normal albeit very rich and devoted boyfriend. That said, I do want to ask how you imagined they’ll play out 😀
I am living for this feedback, thank you so much! I can really tell that you took your time to really read the story, and it's nice to have someone that just gets what you're attempting to convey. Appreciate you for that!
Aemond's feelings for our MC are definitely complex. He was intrigued by her before he met her, as he'd looked into her when Larys brought her up to him, and found the tragedy of her story appealing - misery loves company.
In my mind, he had only intended to toy with her for his own amusement, but then when he actually met her, he enjoyed her vibe and there was an instant attraction there, which is why he agreed to the interview with her.
His infatuation grew as their interviews progressed, a combination of him leaving himself vulnerable to her by having to open by talking about his childhood, etc. and the fact that she felt forbidden to him.
When she didn't come to visit him, those feelings intensified. He definitely feels that she owes him - she has made a success of herself and has springboarded off of him in order to do that, while he's rotted in prison.
I think he does want a relationship with her - the fact that he let things play out so organically was his twisted way of showing her that it was an inevitability and they can work as a couple. Unfortunately, he slipped up and she found out.
In my mind, he continues to use her as he pleases until the novelty eventually wears off and he feels he has no choice but to kill her, because she knows too much. Or they make a proper go of a relationship and he slowly strips away her independence to ensure she is never able to leave him. Neither one is a very happy ending, unfortunately!

1. mc pf breakup [past/'it's complicated' Prongsfoot, Moonchaser endgame]
Modern, non-magic AU where James and Sirius were best friends and childhood sweethearts until Sirius' music career took off, at which point he breaks up with James while on tour. James is devastated, Remus is there for him, and James realizes that maybe the relationship he thought he'd have wasn't the one he was meant to keep. Of course, their burgeoning romance is complicated by Sirius' return; I posted a snippet here, for those interested.
2. pf peter pan [Prongsfoot, possible hints of non-endgame Jily]
Peter Pan-based AU where a young and miserable Sirius runs away from home and is rescued by James, who whisks him away to Neverland, an enchanted isle where you can grow older, but you can never grow up. "Adult" feelings like romance make you grow up (that is, age past your teens), and Sirius eventually finds himself struggling not to develop feelings for James because he doesn't wanted to be separated from him.
3. pf rted [Prongsfoot? Jily? Prongsfoot + Jily? Jilypad?]
Very loosely inspired by Dreamworks' The Road to El Dorado, this is a fantasy-adventure AU where James and Sirius are partners-in-crime and best-friends-with-benefits who hit on a potentially huge score; Lily, looking to escape her current circumstances, happens to possess Vital Information and inserts herself into the party in exchange for her help. James and Lily flirt and maybe start to fall for each other, and while Sirius is fine with James' having other flings, there's something different about this one and Sirius is Not A Fan. Final ship is up in the air, as you can see.
04. pf wyld hunt [Prongsfoot]
A Prongsfoot Bingo Entry (Fairytale AU), James is the lonely son of the local lord, befriended in childhood by a black puppy that wanders out of the woods. The puppy becomes his constant companion, excepting its regular disappearances, until the day it doesn't return. As a young man, James glimpses a black dog through the trees, ventures into the forest and is captured by the fae: If he can survive three nights of pursuit in the form of stag, he'll earn his freedom. Sirius is the Fae Prince who befriended James in the form of a dog, and who was cursed to remain a hound when he came to care for James and refused to lure him into the woods to be hunted.
05. rg 01 [Prongsfoot, one-sided Jegulus]
A Regency Romance starring James as a young Earl seeking a good match, arriving at his host's country estate to woo Lady Regina Black before becoming entangled with her older brother, Lord Sirius Black, notorious rake and the future Marquess. Sirius is back from the Continent only because he can't afford to jeopardize his inheritance more than he already has, but he's caught off-guard when his attraction to James Potter proves his first experience with something more than lust. There's a snippet feat. fem!Regulus here.
Future Scenes
mc pf breakup - Sirius tries to rekindle, James finds the embers aren't completely out, and they either have sex and Remus later finds out by walking in the next morning or they're about to have sex/in flagrante delicto when Remus walks in. Yes, he has the key to James' flat. Yes, this is purely self-indulgent drama. <3
pf peter pan - The arrival of Lily and Sirius' jealousy, paired with the angst over James possibly falling for Lily and thus 'growing up' for someone else. (Don't worry, non-Jily fans, this is just Sirius' worst-case scenario.)
pf rted - James and Sirius in bed at some inn, a cuddly/sweet/playful morning after that establishes their relationship, which is clearly more than the casual FWB they claim it is, before their new adventure gets underway.
pf wyld hunt - The night before the third hunt, where James manages to sneakily accomplish the tasks that Sirius gave him and Sirius is able to visit him in human/fae form, allowing them to spend the night together before the uncertainty of the day to come.
rg 01 - Sirius, under pretext of inviting James to see the rare flora in the estate's greenhouse, has an assignation with the young earl in the humid, perfumed air. <3 (Or, Sirius expects PWP but gets porn with feelings.)

ROUND 3, MATCH 9
Propaganda under the cut! (tw rape)
Laito Sakamaki
Propaganda
I really could've picked any of the boys from that series really but this dude literally keeps referring to the MC as little bitch. Also, asshole wears a fedora. The fact he made the most datable poll astounds me
He's not a nice man with Yui (the protagonist) and even do some deplorable things with her when she SAYS she doesn't want to. He has a sobbing backstory and uses that to do whatever he wants. He should go to a psychiatrist. In jail.
He is a rapist! In both the anime and the games, he sexually harasses Yui. I can't remember if it was more explicit in the games, but there was a cutaway scene in the church Yui grew up in where he forces himself on her. Like the other vampire brothers, he enjoys causing her pain and suffering, and he particularly likes playing mind games with her along with his usual shit. Canonically, Yui is just the last girl in a very, very long line of "sacrificial brides" who the brothers all ended up killing in one way or another. Laito may look and act like a teenager, but he's an immortal vampire and he knows what he's doing.
This man repeatedly assaults the protagonist (Yui) because he wants to "taint" her. At first he only strips her and touches her only laughing when she says no because "well what a perverted woman, why aren't you being honest with yourself" and it's implied that he rapes her. There's a scene where Yui contemplate suicide (keep in mind she's religious and try to keep her faith even while abused so it's a big deal) because she can't take it anymore, and then Laito shows up in her bath and makes her harm herself. He humiliates her in public. He's just horrible. His excuse is that his mother abused him and he convinced himself he liked it and he loved her. At the end of his route Yui is totally broken in my opinion, convinced she is tainted now and losing her faith in god. Granted he isn't the worst of his brothers but this man is definitely undatable. While he softens in later games, this man is horrible.
Cameron Conner
Propaganda
very religious and judgmental about the witches in the town - especially because the playable character is a witch

I finished reading In The Lives of Puppets by: TJ Klune last night. I was very insistent on finishing it before going to bed. I mean, I was on the last chapter!
The end verdict is that I liked it. I ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would considering how I felt when I first started it. The beginning of it gave me the same problem, though slightly different, than another book I had read, I think two years ago? I don't know I'd have to look it up. But anyway, the other book (Kings of the Wyld) and this one, both in the early parts of the book, were like penis this and phallic shaped that. And I literally couldn't stand it. Both books, as I was reading them, I was considering getting rid of if it continued on for much longer. It made me uncomfortable (In the lives of Puppets) and annoyed (Kings of the Wyld). Thankfully, it didn't last exhaustingly long and I ended up liking the books in the end despite that.
The main reason I wanted to read the book was because the main character is Ace. That and I've read two other books by the author (one I like quite a bit and the other was okay) so I thought I'd give this one a try. The main character is human and his family are robots/machines. Something ends up happening and his father gets taken away and the MC has to travel to try to save him.
I don't have a new book picked out yet but I probably will soon. Since I have to have one to bring with me to work. Gotta do something while I'm on break. lol. While I'm at home though, I'll probably set some time aside to read some of the fanfiction I've been putting off. Honestly, as long as I can manage one book a month while trying to write in the meantime, then I'll be happy.
#reading journal#I can't review books to save my life. lol#mini vent about content I don't want in my novels

Question: This is for everyone. MC-Wylde, a studio company established by a White man who profited off Asian artists and stories, have recently been renamed to PanAsian Cinema by Beijing Lee, underscoring his continued struggle in fostering a diverse and authentic representation in his studios. Within the last year, PanAsian Cinema was the first one to have Native and Indigenous Americans as main characters in a successful film while you will enter Hollywood Studios as president with growing discontent amongst your Latino staff and artists. What can you do to create a platform for your Latino artists, while also maintaining the space for your non-Latino artists? Damien Avanda: Creating a platform for Latino artists is not just a responsibility; it's a moral imperative. As president, I will prioritize fostering an environment where all artists, regardless of their background, feel valued and supported. This means actively seeking out and amplifying Latino voices, providing them with opportunities to showcase their talents and tell their stories authentically. At the same time, I am committed to maintaining a space where artists of all backgrounds can thrive, fostering a culture of inclusivity and collaboration that celebrates diversity in all its forms. Dubois Carmichael: The success of PanAsian Cinema's recent film featuring Native and Indigenous American characters is a testament to the power of authentic storytelling. As president, I will work tirelessly to ensure that Latino artists are given the same platform and opportunities to share their stories with the world. This means creating initiatives and programs specifically designed to support and uplift Latino voices, while also fostering an inclusive environment where artists of all backgrounds can come together to collaborate and create. Darius Booker: Diversity is not a zero-sum game; it's about creating space for all voices to be heard and celebrated. As president, I will prioritize creating a platform for Latino artists within Hollywood Studios, ensuring that their stories are given the recognition and respect they deserve. This means actively seeking out and promoting Latino talent, while also fostering an environment where artists of all backgrounds can come together to create meaningful and impactful work. Kimona Lange: As someone who believes in the importance of diversity and inclusion, I am committed to creating a platform for Latino artists within Hollywood Studios. This means actively seeking out and supporting Latino talent, providing them with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. At the same time, I recognize the importance of maintaining a space where artists of all backgrounds can come together to collaborate and create. By fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect, we can ensure that Hollywood Studios remains a place where all voices are valued and celebrated. As president, I will prioritize supporting and uplifting Latino voices within Hollywood Studios, ensuring that their stories are given the recognition and respect they deserve. This means actively seeking out and promoting Latino talent, while also fostering an environment where artists of all backgrounds can come together to collaborate and create. By creating a space where all voices are valued and celebrated, we can create a more vibrant and diverse entertainment industry for everyone.
Question: Besides diversity and inclusion, what would your other priorities be in your first year as president? Damien Avanda: In addition to diversity and inclusion, my other priorities in my first year as president would include fostering a culture of innovation and creativity within Hollywood Studios. I would work to create an environment where artists feel empowered to take risks and push the boundaries of storytelling, resulting in more dynamic and impactful content. Additionally, I would prioritize investing in talent development and mentorship programs to nurture the next generation of filmmakers and creatives. By fostering a culture of innovation and creativity, we can ensure that Hollywood Studios remains at the forefront of the industry and continues to produce groundbreaking work. Dubois Carmichael: Besides diversity and inclusion, my other priorities in my first year as president would include promoting sustainability and ethical practices within Hollywood Studios. I would work to minimize the environmental impact of our operations and ensure that we are conducting business in a socially responsible manner. Additionally, I would prioritize investing in community engagement and philanthropic initiatives to give back to the communities that support us. By prioritizing sustainability and ethical practices, we can create a studio that not only produces great content but also makes a positive impact on the world. Darius Booker: In addition to diversity and inclusion, my other priorities in my first year as president would include promoting transparency and accountability within Hollywood Studios. I would work to ensure that all studio operations are conducted ethically and in accordance with industry standards, and I would prioritize implementing measures to root out corruption and promote ethical governance. Additionally, I would prioritize investing in employee development and well-being programs to create a supportive and inclusive workplace culture. By prioritizing transparency and accountability, we can build trust within the studio and create a culture of integrity and excellence. Kimona Lange: Besides diversity and inclusion, my other priorities in my first year as president would include fostering collaboration and partnerships within the industry. I would work to strengthen relationships with other studios and industry partners to create more opportunities for collaboration and co-production. Additionally, I would prioritize investing in technology and innovation to stay ahead of industry trends and remain competitive in the global market. By fostering collaboration and innovation, we can create a studio that is not only diverse and inclusive but also dynamic and forward-thinking. Julian Lunacharski: In addition to diversity and inclusion, my other priorities in my first year as president would include promoting mentorship and career development within Hollywood Studios. I would work to create opportunities for emerging talent to learn from experienced industry professionals and gain valuable skills and experience. Additionally, I would prioritize investing in initiatives to support independent filmmakers and foster a culture of creativity and experimentation. By prioritizing mentorship and career development, we can ensure that Hollywood Studios remains a place where artists can thrive and grow throughout their careers.
Question: This is for Darius: recently, you've been under the spotlight for your publications in the newspaper The Chariot being very critical of Beijing Lee, the first Asian elected president of PanAsian Cinema. If you were to become president, how would you forge a relationship with Beijing to allow better collaboration between the two studios and also create an environment where Asians can also be represented in Hollywood, not just MC-Wylde. Darius Booker: Firstly, I must address the criticisms leveled against me. While my past publications may have been contentious, I recognize the importance of fostering positive relationships within the industry, regardless of personal opinions. If elected president, I will extend a hand of collaboration to President Beijing Lee and PanAsian Cinema. I believe in the power of dialogue and understanding, and I'm committed to creating an environment where all voices, including Asian voices, are heard and celebrated in Hollywood, transcending geographical boundaries. By working together, we can pave the way for a more inclusive and representative industry that embraces diversity in all its forms.
Question: This is for Damien: Lawrence Harland was voted off of Hollywood Studios and Emerson Wright has tirelessly worked the last five years in removing the system and structures that Harland has created to benefit White supremacy. With the recent marriage of your brother into the Harland family, what can you tell to the audience who are very wary of you becoming president and possibly increasing the influence of the Harland family with your presidency? Damien Avanda: I understand the concerns surrounding my brother's marriage and its potential implications on my candidacy. However, I want to assure the audience that I am my own person with my own values and vision for Hollywood Studios. I have openly spoken out against rumors of being influenced by the Harland family, and I remain committed to continuing President Emerson Wright's legacy of challenging systems of White supremacy and corruption within the industry. My focus is on fostering a Hollywood that embraces diversity and inclusivity, where talent and merit are the sole determinants of success. Rest assured, my allegiance lies with the values of progress and equality, not with any familial ties or past associations.
Question: This is for Kimona Lange. You've ran for president for MC-Wylde before, a studio that historically has focused on being a platform for Asian storytelling and lost to Beijing Lee. What made you believe that you were the best candidate in continuing the legacy of MC-Wylde and what about your experience would make you different than the other four male candidates vying for Hollywood Studios? Kimona Lange: Thank you for the question. While my previous candidacy for MC-Wylde may not have been successful, it provided me with valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing studios dedicated to diverse storytelling. My belief in my candidacy for Hollywood Studios lies in my commitment to inclusivity and my experience in navigating the complexities of the entertainment industry. As the wife of Derek Lange, the current Chief of Staff of Hollywood Studios, I bring a unique perspective that combines firsthand knowledge of the industry with a deep understanding of the importance of diversity and representation. While some may view me as representing White feminism, I want to emphasize that my goal is to build upon President Emerson Wright's legacy of providing a platform for all voices. What sets me apart from the other candidates is not just my gender but my dedication to creating a Hollywood that embraces diversity in all its forms. I am committed to amplifying underrepresented voices and ensuring that Hollywood Studios becomes a beacon of inclusivity and equality.
Question: This is for Dubois Carmichael. Hollywood Studios has become a beacon of opportunities, not only for White artists, but for all. Cygna Entertainment solely focuses on Black artists and storytelling. If elected president, how would you continue the legacy of Hollywood Studios, while also allowing Cygna Entertainment to flourish? Dubois Carmichael: Thank you for the question. As someone who deeply values diversity and inclusivity, I believe in fostering an environment where all voices are heard and celebrated. Hollywood Studios has made significant strides in embracing diversity under President Emerson Wright's leadership, and my goal as president would be to continue and expand upon this legacy. While Cygna Entertainment focuses on Black storytelling, Hollywood Studios has the potential to be a platform for all marginalized voices, including those within the Black community. My vision is to create a symbiotic relationship between Hollywood Studios and Cygna Entertainment, where both entities can thrive while supporting and uplifting each other. I am committed to ensuring that Cygna Entertainment receives the resources and support it needs to continue telling Black stories authentically and with integrity. At the same time, I will work to ensure that Hollywood Studios remains a welcoming space for artists of all backgrounds, where diversity is not just acknowledged but celebrated. By fostering collaboration and mutual respect between Hollywood Studios and Cygna Entertainment, we can create a more inclusive and representative entertainment industry that reflects the rich diversity of our world.
Question: This is for Julian Lunacharski. Being a new member of the industry, one might think that you have a very idealist mindset and don't have the practical skills to preside over a mega studio like Hollywood Studios. Can you talk about your experience with directing and how you have what it takes to be president? Julian Lunacharski: Thank you for the question. While it's true that I am relatively new to the industry compared to some of my fellow candidates, I believe that my fresh perspective and innovative ideas are assets rather than liabilities. As a director, I may not have decades of experience, but I have already proven my ability to create successful and impactful films. My approach to directing has always been collaborative, working closely with my team to bring visions to life on the screen. This experience has taught me valuable leadership skills, including the importance of communication, adaptability, and creative problem-solving. Furthermore, my commitment to diversifying Hollywood and challenging its status quo stems from my own experiences as a filmmaker. I have seen firsthand the barriers that marginalized voices face in this industry, and I am passionate about using my platform to create change. While I may be idealistic, I am also pragmatic. I understand the complexities of running a mega studio like Hollywood Studios, and I am prepared to surround myself with a diverse and experienced team who can complement my vision with practical expertise. Together, we can work to create a more inclusive and representative entertainment industry that truly reflects the world we live in.
Question: What are your closing remarks? Please convince the audience why they should support your candidacy? Damien Avanda: Thank you for the opportunity to address the audience. As a candidate for president of Hollywood Studios, I am deeply committed to creating a studio that celebrates diversity, fosters creativity, and promotes integrity. Throughout my career, I have seen firsthand the power of storytelling to inspire change and bring people together. As president, I will work tirelessly to ensure that all voices are heard and valued within the studio, and that Hollywood remains a beacon of inclusivity and innovation. I ask for your support in this journey towards a brighter, more equitable future for our industry and our community. Together, we can build a Hollywood that reflects the rich tapestry of human experience and inspires generations to come. Thank you. Dubois Carmichael: Thank you for your attention today. As a candidate for president of Hollywood Studios, I bring a wealth of experience in promoting diversity, fostering collaboration, and driving positive change within the industry. My vision for Hollywood is one of inclusivity, authenticity, and social responsibility. I am committed to creating a studio where all voices are heard and valued, and where creativity thrives. I ask for your support in this endeavor, as together, we can build a better, more equitable future for Hollywood and beyond. Thank you. Darius Booker: Thank you for considering my candidacy for president of Hollywood Studios. While I may lack traditional industry experience, I bring a fresh perspective and a deep commitment to promoting diversity, transparency, and accountability within the studio. My vision for Hollywood is one of inclusivity, integrity, and social justice. I believe that by working together, we can create a studio that reflects the values of our community and serves as a beacon of progress for the industry. I humbly ask for your support in this journey towards a more equitable and inclusive future for Hollywood. Thank you. Kimona Lange: Thank you for listening to my vision for Hollywood Studios. As a candidate for president, I am deeply committed to upholding President Emerson Wright's legacy of diversity, inclusivity, and integrity. My experience in the industry and my dedication to promoting collaboration and innovation make me uniquely qualified to lead the studio into the future. I believe that by working together, we can create a studio that celebrates the unique talents and perspectives of all artists and serves as a model of excellence for the industry. Thank you. Julian Lunacharski: Thank you for your time and consideration. As a candidate for president of Hollywood Studios, I bring a fresh perspective, a passion for diversity, and a commitment to innovation. My vision for Hollywood is one of inclusivity, creativity, and collaboration. I believe that by embracing diversity and fostering a culture of experimentation, we can create groundbreaking content that resonates with audiences around the world. Motorcycle Club Romance
@literaryillusions just started reading some motorcycle club (MC) romance novels and I offered to recommend titles to her. But looking at my Goodreads account, I have read over 300 MC romance books! So I’m going to start off with the best.
The Good of MC Romance:
Over the top characters and plots that really engage and entertain.
Working class characters, which are otherwise hard to find in romancelandia.
Fish out of water and opposites attract stories where the heroine usually has to adapt to the hero’s culture and way of life.
Heroines who stand up for themselves, and the alpha heroes who love them for it. There are very few naive ingenues in MC romance.
The Bad of MC Romance:
Too many women-in-danger plots. Too many women victimized and brutalized just to set up the hero as her savior and rescuer.
“Dark” romances that sacrifice characterization and believability for atmosphere.
Alphaholes. This is really where your personal tolerance of alpha heroes comes into play. You either love them or hate them.
The Books I Highly Recommend:
Joanna Wylde’s Reapers Motorcycle Club. I consider Wylde the queen of MC romance. She’s suspenseful and gritty without being dark and she is able to put women in danger without making them martyrs to violence in the name of plot. Her books definitely feature alphaholes but the flip of that is her heroines tend to be take-no-shit women. She does have some issues with dubious consent. My favorite is Reaper’s Stand. At one point, the hero has the heroine at knife point!
Kristen Ashley’s Chaos Series. You really have to start with Motorcycle Man, which is part of her Dream Man series and then get into the Chaos books. Not all of them are winners and Ashley is hit or miss as a writer for a lot of people. But Motorcycle Man is one of my favorite all time romances. The hero wham, bam, thank you ma’am’s the heroine in the first chapter.
Laura Kaye’s Raven Riders Series. Good guy bikers, macho but not alphaholes, working as vigilantes and neighborhood protectors. If you are looking to ease into the MC world, Kaye is a great place to start. The first in the series, Ride Rough, features a delicious jaded older hero, coming-into-her-own younger heroine romance.
Cate C. Wells Steel Bones Series. Wells is a newbie writer I just discovered on Kindle Unlimited and I love love love the first in this series, Charge. A young, struggling, single mother meets a MC dude who is scared off by her kid but inexplicably drawn to her at the same time. Heartfelt, emotional journey for both the hero and the heroine.
Christine Feehan’s Torpedo Ink Series. Totally over the top, in the best, most ridiculous kind of way. Lots and lots of hot sexy times. Former Russian assassins turned MC club, with a dash of mysterious psychic powers. Content warnings for child abuse and violence.
