Well my boss told me that she was apparently going to put me up for a promotion last November but ran out of time to talk to me about it and didn't want to drop a promotion on me out of nowhere (genuinely appreciate this) but she's putting me up for it next November. Like. Okay. Guess I'm not getting fired!!!

#thinking anout that girl in college who was like Your so calm and steady!!! i love how much of a rock you are. not panicking at all #(this was as we tried to shove a section of project together last minute)#and i was like. oh girl i have anxiety. its just not about this we're fine #me: im going to get fired #everyone else apparently: Boss why havent you made him a manager yet get ON with it already!!!! its been 8 months!!!!#well if i dont have to flee the country ill probably be able to keep this apartment next year without it going out of my price bracket #yippee #i can't believe no one wants this!!! #what am i doing? idk man #i saw a listing and it excites me. like teaching entry bio lab at a college. could you imagine #the college freshmen would be on their phones like idk what this guy is going on about but he seems pretty fired up about this #not much i can do about that but i for one would be having a good time #i finished my emt class and i only have to take one more test until im licensed #and then i can work as one or just volunteer and do plants as my job. which like. plants as my job is ideal i think #i think that is what i have learned i am so so so sad without plants #but an emt job could get me out of here right now at this very moment which is appealing #because otherwise my ass is going to put it off

based on an idea @username8746489 had where sylvie discovered nightmare fuel for the first time on accident while getting bullied by some older kids (and pushing him further into social isolation now that he's known as "that scary kid who could summon someone's worst fear")

#♦️charlie's art #epithet erased #sylvester ashling #sylvie ashling #ok i have a lot to yap about here hold on #this was a challenge to make since i was imagining it with no dialogue and limited colors i hope i pulled it off #because of those two things something i had to think a lot about was how the color progression changes the mood #I wasn't originally gonna add that last panel with the aftermath but un suggested the idea of the bullies being vague shadowy figures #initially until sylvie realizes what he did and is forced to see that “that was a real person with their own fears and insecurities”#so then they're drawn more detailed #sylvie and the bullies also aren't in the same panels together until the last one because he's just so below them that he isnt worthy of #sharing equal space with them. these kids are highschoolers. if sylvie wants to look at them he'll always have to look up #and also because i was struggling with their height difference #i hope the second page doesn't make it look too much like sylvie summoned a fire 😭 it kinda helps with the mood but what he summoned is #supposed to be ambiguous and i dont want it to look like i was born yesterday and think nightmare fuel ONLY summone fire #but its hard to make it NOT look like fire when i can only work with orange #the lineart starts out clean and gets messier as the conflict progresses to represent a lack of control #and also it creates kind of a shakey/unstable effect which emphasizes sylvie's fear #also unintentional but i think the second page having detailed shading emphasizes the mood changes. this just got SERIOUS #oh also i used the mizu5 untrained as a color reference thats fun #ALSO SYLVIE DIDN'T KILL ANYONE im just realizing the one curled up in the last panel could be interpreted that way #that's not what i was going for #this might be unrealistic...... but we also know so little about sylvie's backstory that who's to say for sure IDK LET ME MAKE MY FAV SUFFER

i like how most nations during the AQs are understandably scared for their lives and clearly do Not want to die, and then you have Natlan sending children off to war and successfully brainwashing each other into thinking they can run head-first into the arms of a lawachurl with a mildly spiky bat, sandals and their stomachs exposed.

and even when they're not fighting for their lives, they're jumping off cliffs, swimming with sharks, head-butting bisons and challenging each other to glorified mortal combat.

people bullying kachina for being scared but fr she was the only one in the entire cast with a proper, normal, functioning survival instinct and even then can you really call it normal when she still jumped at the chance to potentially send herself into the night kingdom

actually can we talk about how the sacred flame and ode messed with their perception of death in general. let's talk about that.

#my art #pokemon #braixen #pkmn #starter pokemon #YAAAAY only took like 8 days working on off and on WHBDFJKHGB i reworked the pose a bunch #and im really happy with how it came out!!! i may have gone overboard with the shading but thats ok bc i had fun #when i was trying to figure out the fire i accidentally deleted the lining and i did not notice that i did that. so when i went to see if i #could get it back. i could not. so i had to redo the lining HAHA really annoying but its ok bc i still had the sketch and the coloring #using this as a segue to talk about my delphox lucky. my first non handmedown pokemon game was x #so it was a really big deal for me right. i was ten. i picked fennekin [i usually go for the grass starters but fennekin is one of the #exceptions to this] and to my delight my fennekin was a female. and to me that was the luckiest thing ever so i obviously named her lucky #i got her to max happiness and she was the first pokemon i leveled up to lvl 100 without cheating #the fennekin line will always have a soft spot in my heart and i will always include a female delphox named lucky in my dream team lineup
