(so this is basically a transcript of Emily and I’sconversation bc I really don’t know how to make it flow any other way. Also itstarted off as strictly Leon/Nuge and kind morphed to include half the team,but just go with it)

 Nuge is a quite, standoffish guy, whereas Leoncarries a subtle confidence and chooses to take the lead in most of the stepsthey take.

We acknowledge they’re both giant dorks, nomatter how quiet they keep it. (Keep lotr in mind bc that will come into playlater)

After Leon gets up the goods to ask Nuge if hewants to hang out some time, “You know, just the two of us”, Nuge decides toinvite Leon to horseback riding, he has to check on the horses alright.

Leon is a little frightened by the idea and itsnot the ‘giant animal’ part, no, it’s the ‘what if I fall of and breaksomething and can’t play hockey for the rest of the season’ part

After he gets over that and the incredibly snugriding pants, he picks up the whole thing like a champ

And if Nuge is a little flustered its obviouslyover how easily Leon has bonded with the horse and is riding like a natural (imsorry) and certainly not because of those fucking pants

Leon is completely smitten with the way Nugeseems to relax while around the horses. His smile comes easily and he goes alittle soft.

He gets lost in the way Ryan talks about thehorses while he’s brushing them out. How passionate Ryan is about taking careof them. Ryan realizes he’s rambling, so he looks up to find Leon staring athim with this awe and fondness and that soft smile on his face. This is kind ofa lot so Nuge drops his head, flushing, and quirks his mouth and boy if Leon wasn’tgone on dimples before, he is now

Leon kinda freaks out about this feeling in hischest whenever he sees Nuge smile during practice, so naturally he goes to theresident team dads (Lucic, Ference and Maroon) for help. Their advice: startsmall, take him out for lunch.

Meanwhile Ebs catches how often Ryan has beenlooking at Leon and one day during practice has to bump Nuge to move up fordrills. Ryan turns to him and gives him this ‘what’ look, saying that he justzoned out for a second. Ebs smirks and just goes “Yeah, I’ve noticed”. (bc ryanwill never ever be the one to acknowledge his feelings)

Now on to the important part: shovel talk

They each have a take. Ference is here for Leon,his son. While Lucic is protective of Nuge, his liney who he will not hesitateto fight for, and already has. Patty is quite impartial (Connor is his fave,sue him) ((lbr tho they’re all protective of eachother so it doesn’t reallywork out does it))

Connor, the sweet bby Captain he is also has histake on said shovel talk. However, it consists of “I’m really happy for you!!But..” “Don’t ever hurt Leon” and “Please don’t make Ryan sad” “Then everyonewill be sad” “That isn’t cool, that’ll mess with the team dynamic”. Pat walksin on this and proceeds to drag Connor out of the room while Connor has this“do it for me�� look in his eye (look cons rly invested in these two, like jesusgo find something else to spend time on) and Pat then promptly tells Nuge andLeon how it’ll be if someone gets hurt and scares the shit out of them.

Ebs also pulls Leon aside one day after practiceand goes “Hey man, just don’t hurt him,” no threats or anything andhonestly that’s the scariest talk bc Ebs could get anyone to do his bidding(it’s the sleepy eyes)

(Queue the part where we talked about connor andhis opinions on pride and prejudice? I don’t even know and also key factor: remember the lotr part?)

They’re both huge nerds and I can guarantee Leonhas the whole lotr series in German and forces Ryan to sit through at least oneand read the subtitles

Speaking of: that’s when they were first kind ofsaw each other as possibilities. One day after practice they’re all gathered inthe dressing room and Ebs is chirping Nuge for making him watch Lotr for themillionth time, “Come on, why can’t I ever choose the movie? We get togetherevery week and I can only hear Smeagol so many times,” queue up the ultimaterom-com moment where all the boys are laughing and then Nuge and Leon decide topipe up and say “Hey! It won 17 oscars!” at the same time (bc yes they’re those people). They both meet eyesacross the dressing room and it’s kind of that ‘Hm’ moment where they hadn’tconsidered it before bc they’ve got hockey to play, they don’t have time tofocus on whether or not they’re attracted to a certain teammate.

(I also need you to acknowledge that Ebs is infact a lotr fan and has dressed up as a hobbit at least three times in his lifefor Halloween)

I feel like Nuge is a very quiet and closedoff person. He doesn’t bring his personal shit to the rink and Leon’s firstreal look at a Ryan that isn’t so focused on hockey all the time is when theygo riding.

Leon’s responsible for breaking down a lot ofRyan’s walls (not that he’s had any issues) just that he’s very private andLeon gets him to open up like a book, not that it doesn’t take a lot of time.

Leon is a giant teddy bear and is ready forcuddles at anytime. Ryan, however, is not a touchy person. Sure, he’ll allowhimself to be held after a tough loss and knows when he needs it to feelbetter, but there’s absolutely no pda. That’s just not their thing, even Leon’sa more ‘this is a private thing that’s meant for only us’ person and he’s goodwith whatever Ryan is up for. Sometimes if Ryan is in a good mood and feelinggenerous, he’ll hold Leon’s hand under the table at a restaurant or brush theirfingers together while they’re walking but that’s about as far as it goes.

All around they’re just soft bros and rly deservingof some love.
