Oh my god, I wanna know how mer-leo would react to anastasia!reader being a menace to him

Couldn't get this out of my head either, so...

Merturtle! Donnie ended up with a very sweet partner, and though Leo may have helped him more than he would admit with that, it doesn't mean he won't stop teasing Donnie relentlessly for the whole thing.

Anastasia! MC however, is a bigger bully than Leo is, and while MC may have been born in a palace, they grew up in an orphanage with no memory of that and constant fights for who would sleep on the bed that night with another eight kids they shared room with.

I think that attitude would immediately grab his attention.

Anastasia! Leo is a street rat, a con artist who is trying to make some bucks out of MC, he has become a bit more cynical than Merturtle! Leo is, so fighting with MC is just part of the course in his situation.

But for M! Leo? Who grew up as a prince in a much easier environment? Your attitude is a breath of fresh air.

He, as you may have noticed in that fic, is a bit more vain and proud of his looks, trying out jewelry and accessories in the mirror frequently, even when he was transformed into a small, normal, red eared slider turtle, so once he is the target of your insults and being called out on the "crevasse" on his forehead, he will act as always, but secretly ask M! Donnie in a panic to find something on land that can get rid of wrinkles, ASAP.

So I heard mermay is a thing. Here is my just in time contribution.

Also I might or might not planning to make this into an AU with possibly a comic. ( After my mini Leo series)

Lore for the AU is below the cut. 

The story is still vague but it’s something like this: Splinter gets some illness and Draxum tells the turtles that the only thing that can heal him is a mermaid’s pearl, which is grows on their chest (specifically around the manubrium sterni) and they are religiously protective about is even thought it regrows under 3 weeks. The boys go try to ask the mermaids, but the fishy ladies get angry at them and chase them away. While on the run, Leo turns around and snatches a pearl. He gets caught tho and cursed to turn into a mermaid or well merturtle.

Then he does the only rational thing to do when you screw something up. Try to run away and never be seen by your brothers unless you fix the situation. Except, he has some seriously persistent brothers who will find him.

Good news is, now Leo can grow the pearl needed to cure Splinter himself. Bad news, who’s gonna cure Leo?

I have a dumb idea.

Buzzfeed has AI quizzes now (AI is everywhere now for some reason), and this one caught my eye since I've always loved mermaids. And then I thought to relate it back to TMNT, because of course. I decided to take the quiz once for myself in character as Regiomontanus, once for each of the turtles, and once for April. These results may not be the most reliable out there, and the names are a little wacky since the quiz is likely assuming female takers, but it was fun. Here's what I got.

April

My mermaid name is Aprilla and my tail is a beautiful turquoise color, with tiny sparkles covering my fin. My sidekick is a Bottlenose Dolphin named Duke, who guides me all around the ocean. The city I live in is Coral Reef; it is home to dolphins, whales, and a variety of colorful fish. Every day I swim to all the different coral caves and explore the depths of the ocean. I enjoy swimming with the dolphins and playing tag among the sea stars. I also love talking to the mermaids and learning new magical tricks in our underwater kingdom.

My mermaid name is Regeo. My tail is a deep teal with streaks of bright pinks and oranges, shimmering and sparkling in the sunlit depths of the ocean. My sidekick is a brightly patterned Moorish Idol named Glitter. Together, we explore the wonders of the seafloor, from sunlit coral gardens to dark and mysterious trenches. From time to time, we visit the underwater city of Callemon, my home. There, I pass the time catching and trading seashells with fellow mermaids, racing through fields of swaying seaweed and zipping around the city on our scaly friends, sharing stories and secrets with friends old and new.

Raph

My life as a mermaid, Raphaelia, is filled with enchantment. My tail is a shimmering turquoise, with vibrant pink and orange scales along the upper half. I thrive in the underwater city of Nassquah, where I have many friends and adventures. My closest companion is a playful angelfish named Finn. We spend our days exploring sunken shipwrecks, swimming with dolphins, learning magical new spells, and chasing rainbows of color through vibrantly-hued coral reefs. We also love helping to protect our beautiful aquatic homes from pollution and fishing nets. In Nassquah, I'm never bored—my life is a continuous magical journey!

Leo

My mermaid name is Leonida and my tail is a majestic white and light blue combo that shimmers in the sun. My sidekick is a Nemo-like clownfish named Antonia. We regularly explore the ocean on whimsical journeys filled with exciting adventures. We usually return to our underwater city, Corallian, which is a small but vibrant town located in the depths of the Atlantic. During our time in Corallian, I often enjoy making music with my dolphin friends, searching for sunken treasure, and swimming in the shipwrecks littered in the bay.

Donnie

My mermaid name is Donatella, and my tail is a glittering turquoise and emerald mermaid tail with pearl scales. I live in the underwater city of Neptune Bay, which is home to a multitude of marine life. My sidekick is Pebbles, a small yellow and blue striped fish. In Neptune Bay, I enjoy swimming with dolphins and exploring the coral reefs. I have a number of mermaid friends and we often have singing contests with the fish and dolphins. Each night, I rest on a bed of white sand and gaze up at the twinkling stars. Life as a mermaid is liberating and I couldn't be happier.

Mikey

My name as a mermaid is Michelamar, and my tail is shimmering aquamarine with golden accents. I reside in the beautiful city of Atlanina, located on the seafloor, which is bustling with life and activity. My sidekick is Coralessa, a cheerful clownfish who loves to follow me around. I spend my days swimming around the many coral reefs, exploring the vast ocean and playing with the other fish. I often like to gather with other merfolk in the city and socialize, competing in various mermaid challenges such as tail races and pearl hunting. Other activities I enjoy are creating stunning sand sculptures and gazing at the starfish.

No kidding, I'm thinking of making an AU out of this. I may change some design details, too (because 5 out of 6 characters having blue-green tails is kind of lame), but merturtles is such a silly concept, I can't help but love it and want to make it a thing.

I wanna hear more about ur merturtle au pls. I think it's pretty neat and u have very squishy designs. Also is it okay to write fanfic of ur au? It wouldn't be much and it'll be my first time writing but I have a tentative idea.

OH!! Ofc u can use the designs // idea with credit ^^ If u ever write something, defo mention it to me on here so I can read it >:) The overall thing was originally just going to be fun ideas, and nothing major. Overall, basically everything is the same from the original, other than a few quirks and designs the turtles have. Leo would always make a snarky comment about how he'd have "The voice of a siren." Which ofc, Donnie would always correct. He's the fastest swimmer of the group, and is the one that usually dominates fighting fields. Ofc- only if he uses his brain, which he kinda needs to work on. Donnie on the other hand, had to figure out how to comfortably live his life out of the water, and be able to be happy with it. He's made a few adjustments, probably like keeping water in his battle shell and having a regular schedule to keep himself from not being too agitated. In this version ofc, he's made all of his equipment waterproof! Including Shelldon ofc!! Raph, as a thresher shark, I'd imagine his fighting style would change a bit. Ofc he'd still be the absolute tank, but I like to imagine he'd manage to kinda use his tail to his advantage. Like Splinter, he uses his tail as a weapon and can stun enemies And as the Raph fan I am, thought that maybe it'd be cool to explore a small idea: Raph's always been paranoid of his smile, of being too rough, of being too scary, etc. I want him to both understand his struggles and realize that those he really cares about just want to see the true him, and not a hand covering his sharp smile. Aka, some free angst I could mess around with ;) Mikey... i actually don't have a lot for him? He'd be a force of keeping the family together, kinda like in the cannon. He'd have the most colorful fighting style, especially when u add water to the mix! He'd be the one to make Raph realize how wrong he was about himself, he'd be the one to help Donnie with his designs, and he'd help Leo realize that a lot of the stuff that's happened to them wasn't his fault. Also, part of me would find it funny if HE was the one who had some sort of 'siren' 'mermaid' powers. Or this could just be me watching too much avatar and the last airbender- but i think it'd be funny if he could manipulate water, and have all that cool mermaid powers!! Just an idea tho ^^ NOW UH- sorry if that's a lot to read, so have this lil comic WIP. I probably won't finish it knowing me- it is my birthday after all, but I'm glad people are taking interest in my little au :]

I had the idea that like either , Reader finds the little merturtle Donnie and Shelldon washed up on the shore and put them into a little container to nurse them back to health. Or Reader gets him from a petshop of sorts ( I has the idea of the other bros tanks being differently shapes , Like Mikey having a Circular tank, Raph having a Trapezoid tank , And leo having a Creacent shaped tank)

Oh so we're doing this~

Here is a very brief summary, you could call this some type of drabble I guess! About how I think this particular situation would go.

The little merturtle AU Leo being captured by pirate! MC

Leo gets turned into a normal red-eared slider, again, and trying to reach Donnie in the beach, gets in the way of these pirates that have been terrorizing the kingdom, as the pirates are escaping, MC sees Leo at the beach and grabs him, why? Because MC just lost their parrot and why not get a new pet?

I imagine MC has to be tough all the time, they're in a dangerous situation, that's their life and they have to make sure the rest of their crew are always confident in what they're doing.

So MC would just let themselves talk to their pet about things they can't regularly talk about all the time, but since their parrot died, they've been under more stress and become more violent without some type of outlet.

So, turtle.

Leo is confused the whole time, but can't talk so he is just struggling and trying to get out of there, but before he knows it, he is already on a pirate ship at sea and there's a navy ship following them close and ARE THOSE CANNONS?

The pirates escape and celebrate, while Leo is trying to throw himself into the sea the whole time, but MC takes some of the treasure (And Leo) along with them to the Captain's cabin.

Have you watched "Sinbad: Legend of the seven seas"? Because I imagine the MC to be similar to Sinbad in a way.

Cunning, greedy, conniving, even egotistical. The MC is a pirate and though there's much more to them, there's a lot of "character development" that would need to happen first.

Leo, in a way, relates a bit of their vanity and greed, in a much tamer way, easily distracted by the treasure once with it and entertaining MC as he manages to put on a necklace in front of the mirror.

The MC is amused by the little turtle, which would make it much harder for him to escape.

This goes on for a bit, the navy is still looking for these pirates and Leo is getting further away from both the kingdom where Donnie is, and Atlantida.

The pirates keep stealing from different ports along the way, and MC talks to Leo about how they just want to get away for a while and take a break in some beautiful island to relax.

The more MC talks their thoughts out to the turtle, the more he sees they're lonely and stressed and that there's way more to them than he first thought (Having gotten kidnapped by a dangerous pirate, his opinion of MC wasn't the best).

But the spell does end up running out, and by the time he's fallen in love with them, it breaks and he gets back to his merturtle form.

I think that unlike the situation that happened with Donnie, though Leo would be insecure about his appearance, considering humans are still generally judgemental of yokai, the problem would come from the fact that the moment he detransforms the whole crew finds him and captures him.

What is the worth of such a being? And once Leo slips up and says he is the crown prince of Atlantida? They are more set on keeping him for a rescue.

The only reason MC keeps him comfortable in a sort of tank inside the ship is because Leo was their "pet" that MC spoke about their problems to, but truly, MC does NOT know him.

For a while after he returns to his form, they fight frequently, MC has control, but Leo will not keep quiet, he may try getting in their good graces but he can't keep quiet when he does not agree or about wanting to be fred.

Explaining how their relationship develops would take more time and it would be unfair for me to do so in this drabble, but with the time they would spend together as he is captured in there, the MC would inevitably get to know him.

The conflict would stew, with what the crew wants and MC expects, from what his family does as they search for him, and what the navy does trying to capture the pirates.
