I'm currently, and have for a few months been, working on a Living Dead Dollhouse for LDD Minis Sadie! The house was empty and finished, and I've been stripping it to as base as I can get before overhauling it to a horror dollhouse full of LDD Easter eggs and props. Remaking a finished house is much more lenient with a horror theme where messiness makes sense in lieu of a perfect renovation!

One:12 Collective Eric Draven.

Boo! Mezco One:12 Ghostface. I was so eager for a Mezco scale Ghostface I made a custom that has since been cannibalized for other projects. In some ways, I was actually hoping to avoid this one. My focus had mostly shifted back to NECA's 7 inch scale horror by the time they revealed this, but I'm just a sucker.

This figure is definitely better than its NECA counterparts, but is it 3x better? Ehhhh. I'm a 1/12 collector at the end of the day, that's my preference. So I'm obviously biased towards the smaller scale on this one. The robe is definitely better, but suffers from its own issues such as being a bit too baggy imo. The arms and shoulders can get swallowed by the surrounding cloth. Might be worth looking into a belt. I will say, I do love that the arm tassels have wires that is such a cool touch.

Mine also broke at the neck! Fun! Yeah, I was trying to swap heads and the barbell joint snapped while trying to pop one on. I assume this is due to the cold weather we've been experiencing lately making the joints extra firm. Not helped by how much is going on at the collar. Between the hood and the turtleneck GF is wearing beneath, there is a lot going on there. I did find a replacement right quick, but it was annoying.

The accessories are good, but derivative. I find it interesting they took so much from the first NECA Ultimate wholesale. All four heads, the kitchen knife, and even the scythe come directly from that. Maybe they're all derived from some kind of Funworld endorsed style guide.

The final accessories are new and totally killer at least. The bowl of popcorn, popcorn holding hand, and TV remote are so much fun I can't help but applaud them. Great inclusions!

Whether this figure is worth it or not is gonna heavily vary. For some, the value just isn't gonna be there for a design this simple. For me, I'm having fun with it at least. I'm happy to have this. I think I have all the slashers I'd want from Mezco, buuuut they could still get me to double dip if they ever made a Zombie Jason (Part 6 or Part 8 pls).

Damien is a Japanese/American Tokyoite who is based on the creators of the Living Dead Dolls franchise. If you don’t know what that is, it’s a gothic doll line produced by Mezco Toyz. The brand has been around since 1998 (having started out as customized angel doll kits,) but became commercially available around 2000.

Anyways, on to Damien’s profile!

He’s part of the Creators guild, and, much like the people he’s based on, he customizes angel doll kits. This has caused tension with some of the more “holier than thou” angels like Michael, who see it as “desecration” of the dolls. Despite looking like a loner, he’s a sociable sweetheart who loves attending conventions. His father started his love of dolls, but he’s sadly passed away by the start of the story. He’s also a bit chubby due to habitually stress eating.

Damien takes a lot of feedback from his guildmates on how he can make the dolls better. This is because a lot of his earlier dolls (much like earlier LDDs) haven’t aged the best. He’s friends with Vapula due to both being into toy kits. Admittedly, all of his other types of dolls (ie, fashion dolls, baby dolls, and miniature dolls) have all ended in failure, so he just sticks to what he’s good at.

Damien’s Summon Day is October 8th, which is the day Ed Long (one of the creators of the brand)’s mother passed away.

His outfits are all based on Living Dead Dolls. His main outfit is based on both Series 1’s Damien (with a whoopee cap, shorts and coat) and Resurrection Killbaby (wearing a metal band t-shirt.) His beach outfit is based on Maggot (who’s my personal favorite) from Series 11. It’s an old fashioned sailor’s uniform that has an alt with its buttons undone, as well as tying his long, black hair into a ponytail with a white ribbon. During winter, he wears a long, icy blue coat and a snow suit. This is based on Series 12’s Frozen Charlotte and her Resurrection variant. For pajamas, he wears an old fashioned nightgown that emulates the dress worn by Posey from the first series.

It was the birthday of #Superman last week! So to commemorate #TheManOfSteel I finally tried out this shot I have wanted to do since I started toy photography! My grandpa had this model car which is a replica of his first car and it looks like the car from the first Superman comic. So with some fishing line and cardboard I was able to finagle it up! I hope everyone likes it. I know it isn't Kaiju but it is a shot I am proud of.

Beast Kingdom's DAH 1/9th-scale Darkseid action figure.

I'm impressed with the DC figures in this line from Beast Kingdom. The figures are well articulated, have great accessories, and have good sculpts. In addition, despite being two inches taller than Mezco's One:12 Collective figures, these are generally less expensive. And easier to pose.

I will soon do a side-by-side comparison of this guy with Mezco's One:12 Darkseid to illustrate the point. Let's just say it's a heck of a lot harder to get his signature pose here - hands clasped behind his back - with the Mezco figure.

The background is a t-shirt from when the movie first came out and wasn't surviving the many times I've moved since then. Can finally say I'm happy with it!
