1. What’s your favorite genre to write?

Medieval fantasy, hands down. I don’t do it often on this blog since I feel like there’s a higher demand for this pairing in a modern context, but stories like Of Thrones and Glory and “The Scales of Fate” are just my favorite thing to create. 

2. Do you pull inspiration from real life, or do you pull things from other books/fanfiction you’ve read?

Real-life. I don’t do a lot of fanfiction reading (mostly because I have no idea where to begin), and when I do read books a lot of the time they aren’t applicable to this pairing since I currently like reading psychological thrillers/mystery. But so many things in my writing, whether it’s characterization, the internal monologue of a character, or description quirks, come from things that happen to me irl. 

3. Do you tend to write one-shots, short stories, or longer things?

Yes? XD I am writing three ‘longer things’ at the moment, so there’s that, but I also love one-shots, short stories, and things that don’t really fit any specific format. 

4. Do you prefer to write description or dialogue?

Please don’t make me choose. I’ll start crying and then it’ll be a mess for everyone involved. 

5. Favorite fic/book of all time?

Book? Ahhhh I do not even know. The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle is phenomenal, as is Uprooted by Naomi Novik, Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine, and The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson. So pretty much I just can’t choose. 

6. Favorite Trope?

Hmm... This is hard for me. I really, really like identity reveals, whether within a superhero context or not. 

7. Are you the kind of person to work on more than one WIP?

*shoves my three WIP multi-chapters under my bed* Um, absolutely not. 

8. How long have you been writing?

Since I was very, very small. I used to get in trouble for writing too many of those little storybooks you make in first grade out of construction paper. 

9. Do you tend to write more in the morning, afternoon, or evening?

Depends? Evening is when the bulk of the work gets done, and it’s almost always when I post. But I also have been writing all through the day, so there’s that. 

10. Do you prefer to post and update your WIP chapter by chapter or wait until it’s 100% complete before sharing it?

I wish I had the self-control it took to post something completed. I really wish.

2021 Fanfic Year in Review

Basically a whole year late as it’s technically 2022 but... Tagged by the lovely @seek--rest @spiderman-homecomeme @forasecondtherewedwon

How many stories did you complete?

What is your total word count for the year?

What fandoms did you write in this year?

Spider-Man, of course.

Did you write more, less, or roughly what you expected?

At the end of 2020, I set myself the goal of 500,000, not realising I’d hit a massive bout of writer’s block and be incapable of putting words together for most of the year. So, uh... Much less than expected, but I’m proud I achieved what I did.

What’s your own favourite story of this year?

I am fond of everything I’ve posted this year, but finishing lead me home—and, subsequently, the when I’m with you series that I started at the beginning of my foray into this fandom—was a big deal to me.

What is your most under-appreciated story of the year?

Probably the world will never take my heart because it was very out of the norm for me, but I loved it anyway and as long as the recipient of it (here’s looking at you, Seek) was happy, I’m all good.

What’s your most appreciated story of 2021?

to see through all the smoke and dirt was my NWH sequel that got more attention in a week than every other fic I’ve written all year so... Safe to say it was that one.

Biggest fanfic-related disappointment of 2021?

No disappointments! Even when I was at my wit's end with writer’s block and thought I’d never write again, I leant some valuable lessons about how I manage my time and expectations.

Biggest fanfic-related surprise of 2021?

I learned this year how to collaborate! I never thought I’d be any good at it, but getting to discuss and develop and write with some of the people I’ve so long admired was such a joy and honour for me.

Something you are looking forward to working on in 2022?

2022 the year of FINISHING MY WIPS! I have six multi-chapters that need finishing and am looking forward to finally seeing them complete.

I’m also vibrating with excitement for @spideychellebigbang 2022! Learning the ropes of running a fandom event was dead interesting and I can’t wait to see what people come up with for the second year. 

It’s technically 2022 in my corner of the world and I’m not entirely sure who might have done this, so I’m tagging some friends if they’re interested (and haven’t done it yet) @ixoren @jenniboo311 @blondsak @spideyfic @michellesbohh

It’s cliche to say that in this moment it just clicks for Peter, but he glances at Ned, meeting already knowing eyes as he sighs, “I gotta stop MJ, huh?”

let me hold your hand for the rest of my life is honestly one of my favorite works because Peter and Michelle have such a soft relationship and comparing them to otters who have the purest companionship is just!! it makes my heart so warm! and otters are amazing of course!!

this love is like sun on the rise because I love weddings! any and every type of wedding, but especially when there’s growth involved. peter and mj’s relationship maturing through weddings was really fun and emotional to write.

the older i get (the more that i see) might be one of the stories I’m most proud of? only because it shows a crumbling marriage from a child’s pov and the emotions were complicated but satisfying to portray through to the end.

when you said your last goodbye has been difficult to write emotionally because i can’t write mcds without getting attached BUT it’s also going to be the most rewarding at the end because this is a story of grief and recovery and healing. i also am just an angst gremlin so.

the love you gave me, darling (nothing else can save me) has one of the best endings I’ve written honestly. if you know you know, but it’s one of my fave concepts of Spider-Man and it was fun to write as a side to the peter and mj angst haha.
