something about the fact that eddie says, 'I don't want to break down the door, buck, I want him to open it' when two seasons before, buck knocks on eddie's door before having to break it down. because eddie grew up with anger and loud yelling and shame, so much shame, for not being perfect. he grew up having to lock the emotions deep inside because he needed to be a man. and men feel nothing, just provide provide provide. and though he knows that is wrong and actively teaches his son the opposite, it doesnt change the fact that his first instinct is to revert back to a man who has no emotions and is NOT a burden to the people he loves. but then in s7, eddie's fear is coming true. he turned his son into a version of eddie. no matter how hard he tried to be the opposite of ramon, the cycle repeats, and christopher has locked him out. and now he is running across state lines instead of talking to his dad.

and once again, in eddie diaz's mind, he has failed. at being a provider. at being a partner. at being a man. at being a father. how can he ever forgive himself when all he does is fail? his son, his best friend, *pause* his girlfriend.... failed. failed. failed.
