debunking the stuff demonprince26 is saying about peter tork since majority of it is misinformation.
Number one: “Peter Tork beat his wife over some dishes”
In July of 1968 Peter answered some questions for Tiger Beat Magazine, where he says he once hit his wife after she threatened to leave him. NOT “over some dishes”. And he didn’t “beat” her either, if you search up the meaning of the word “beat” it states “to strike (a person or an animal) repeatedly and violently” peter did not strike her repeatedly, therefore he did not “beat” her.
It might seem like something small but to accuse someone of being a wife beater (especially over some dishes) when in reality they only hit their wife once and after that they split, is an extremely over exaggerative and bold accusation.
(I’m not defending his behaviour, it’s already horrible enough so I don’t understand why they are trying to over exaggerate it and make it sound worse.)
(Sources: https://www.tumblr.com/ditty-diego/131302000004/peter-and-jody-babb)
Number two: “Peter was fired from the bands reunion tour for being a violent alcoholic”
Now the “violent alcoholic” part wasn’t included in demonprince26’s post, but when asked where they got the whole “peter was fired from a tour” thing, they responded with this.
Tumblr media
And all I have to say to that is that there’s literally no evidence of this ever happening.
It’s never mentioned ANYWHERE he had consumed any alcohol, or that he was “causing problems” during a tour. He was fired from a 2001 tour cause he was out of tune. The tour that their talking about “happened” in the 80’s/90’s, however there is no record of peter being fired from a tour except for the 2001 tour. leading me to think they were either lied to, or they’re just making stuff up.
(Sources: https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/monkees-disappointments-reunion-years.207189/)
All in all, demonprince26 shouldn’t accuse such rash things onto a person who isn’t here to even defend themselves, especially saying things that aren’t true or are extremely over exaggerated. Peter was not some 24/7 sunshine boy, but neither was he terrible enough for them to spread rumours about him and cause unnecessary online discourse. They didn’t know Peter OR Mike personally, so they should quit acting like they were there to witness every aspect of their personalities and lashing out on people who just wanna have fun.
I don’t mean this in a way of just wanting to attack somebody, or just causing a fuss, I mean all of this is the nicest way possible

It cannot be a part of me, for now it's part of you.
(adding some explanation for this fanart. it's quite long, skip it if you want to.)
Heavily influenced by Tapioca Tundra and the last scene from Elephant Parts.
Before singing tapioca tundra, Mike once talked about the conversation between Rudyard Kipling and Mark Twain. There were some arguments about the sequel to Tom Sawyer and Kipling said to Twain that Tom Sawyer isn't Twain's property anymore. "he belongs to us.”
-and I think that depicts Mike perfectly as he became one of the monkees. the image of Mike no longer belongs to him but to the audience. even if he is no longer a monkee and pursues his solo career, he will never truly be evaluated as he is. he is stuck inside the TV like the ending of Elephant Parts. possibly no one will see him who he is- since we are seeing him with the screen on him. we are the blind men and he is an elephant.
(the missing leg from the elephant toy also symbolizes that we cannot see him as who he is, even if we feel the parts of him since not all of himself would be on screen.)
I know he also said "It cannot be a part of me, for now it's part of you." is showing appreciation for their fans but there are many ways to interpret a song anyway.

Michael Nesmith Nudie’s Rodeo Tailors embroidered and rhinestone-accented stage outfit, hat and boots (circa 1967-69), photographed by Bob Delevante.
An influential outfit if ever there was one in the genre. Nesmith was country-rock when country-rock wasn’t cool, when he was still in the Monkees. This rhinestone-accentuated suit — with chain-stitched peacocks, orchids, musical notes and American flag motifs — also came from Nudie’s Rodeo Tailors, circa 1967. It predates the famous Flying Burrito Brothers suits of a similar nature.
“He wore it to the premiere of ‘Head,’ and on the last Monkees television special, ’33 1/3.’ As soon as we decided to do this exhibit, this was one of the first artifacts we thought of, like, ‘Oh, we’ve gotta have that.’ You know, we had a little bit of a relationship with Michael because he was featured in the Bob Dylan/Johnny Cash ‘Nashville Cats’ exhibit that we did, and he came and played an album release party for that, and we got to know him a little and had a relationship going. We asked if we could borrow this, and he made it clear that he absolutely wanted it to come here. And then just with the timing… by circumstance, the same week he passed, we’re getting notices that the shipment is on its way to Nashville. It was just interesting timing.”
