Irish Whiskey little drabble: Care for yourself (16+)

Characters: Aofie Mclaughlin / Erron Black

Relationship: Romantic

Trigger warnings: Injury mention, blood mention, injury description, angst (hurt + comfort), non-sexual nudity

Summary: Aofie returns home after sparring went wrong, and refused to tell anyone her injuries. Erron, after a bit of a back and forth, finally persuades Aofie to allow him to clean her wounds

Author's note: Hi! So sorry I've been inactive. I'll try popping in this blog more as I come up with new ideas for my characters (mainly Irish Whiskey because I love them), but yeah, enjoy this little drabble I made on spot ♡

I also want to note that, I haven't written anything really since like, maybe mid-late 2022? So I'm not aware how my writing is now, but criticism (not bullying) is welcomed!

Aofie grunted as she opened the door, stumbling into the house. The smell of steak and fries filled the air as well as the sound of some country song playing softly. It was hard to make out the words due to how far away the music was and the ringing in Aofie's ears.

She stumbled her way upstairs and into the bedroom, holding her side as she was slumped over, leaving a blood trail behind her. "Stupid fucking idiots....do you not understand what "no sharp objects" mean?" Aofie mumbled as she plopped on the bed, hissing in pain.

She panted after sitting down, regaining whatever energy she had left in her body. She removed her hand to lift her top off, unstrapping her bra to see the full extent of the injury.

Aofie: "shit...fucking Kano...cut deeper than I expected"

She kicked off her boots, sighing softly and figured she could relax for the time being. Laying down on the bed, she closed her eyes, her mind already distracting her with the thought of eating a nice filling dinner, that she wasn't able to sense the footsteps coming up the stairs.

Erron: "Darlin', dinners almost ready if you- Holy cow, the fuck happened to you?!"

Aofie quickly shot up and tried to hide her injury as he ran over, already forcing a smile to downplay it.

Aofie: "hon please...it's not that bad"

Erron: "not that- I can almost see your ribs like a damn mole in it's burrow. Take your shirt off"

Aofie: "no! It's...it's fine, I swear!"

Erron: "Darlin...I'm not asking again. Take. It. Off."

Aofie: "I've had worse!"

Erron: "it's gonna get infected if it's not taken care of!"

Aofie: "And?! What if I want to die again?!"

The room went silent fast, Erron's expression darkening as Aofie swallowed harshly. She looked down at her feet, expecting to be yelled at, or getting a lecture. Instead...she was met with a soft hand to her shoulder.

Erron: "...now I know you don't mean that...but don't ever say something as dumb as that ever again, you understand me?"

Aofie: "..I'm sorry hon...I...I just"

Aofie went silent as she tried to collect her thoughts, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand, doing anything to prevent the tears that were threatening to spill out.

Aofie: "....I've been having those nightmares...about my parents being killed again....I've been pushing myself and overfilling my schedule with training and spars...I haven't gotten a break in days....I-"

Erron stopped her there, gently lifting her chin. There was sympathy in his eyes as he looked down at his wife, her green tired eyes, her messy red hair, her lips that were no longer a vibrant red.

Erron: "Why don't you take the next week to yourself, alright darlin'? I hate seein' ya like this..and you know your parents definitely wouldn't want you stressin' yourself out this much either...let me clean that would for you and then we'll eat, okay?"

Aofie nodded as she finally set her shirt to the side, letting Erron look at the wound. Her side was cut deeply with a butterfly knife, the skin tissue tangled with the fucked up muscles, and a bit of bone showing. Stitches definitely, and a lot of pain meds.

Erron didn't waste time and grabbed the med kit in their shared bedroom bathroom, sitting next to her. He cleaned around the area, wiping off all the blood and skin tissue that came off.

He gave Aofie a pillow to squeeze while he stitched the area. She hissed and wriggled around from the pain, but he eventually got it all stitched up. Erron cut the thread and placed a bandage on the area, softly kissing it.

He looked at her and gently moved her chin so they were making eye contact...despite how messy and unflattering she looked right now, it was still his wife. And he loved her, even at one of her lows.

Erron smiled as he looked at her eyes, the same beautiful green eyes he had fallen in love with all those years ago.

Erron: "My darlin'..you're so beautiful..don't ever change"

Before Aofie could speak, he locked her lips in a gentle kiss. Aofie jumped before kissing back, giving him the same amount of passion he was giving her. The two pulled back after a bit, softly smiling at each other, taking in the moment as much as they could. Erron eventually broke the silence after a bit.

Erron: "Do I get to see your chest eyes while we're eating dinner?"

Aofie: "chest eye- oh shut up ye dumbass"

Her tone was playful, feigning annoyance as she playfully hit his arm. Erron just chuckled, putting his arms up in mock-defense.

Erron: "Hey, to be fair, they looked at me first"

Aofie rolled her eyes with a smile.

Aofie: "You say that all the time when I'm shirtless"

Erron: "Can you blame me with a woman as beautiful as you?"

Aofie giggled before they shared another kiss. She got up to put on a shirt, and they walked downstairs together, chatting to eat the dinner Erron burnt (by accident).

Patrick escaped during Shinnok's attack, running to his Aunt's house for hideout. He assumed Aofie was dead, since she was still in the house during the attack.

He trained often with the survivors, eventually traveling to Earthrealm to search out for his sister. He was stopped by Hanzo, who recognized his rage and goal for vengeance, seeing himself in Patrick.

Patrick was brought into the Shirai Ryu where Hanzo personally trained him, teaching him different fighting methods and the art of pryromancy.

Patrick would eventually reunite with Aofie, fighting by her side, since they were the only family by blood they had left.

Aofie arrived in Kotal Kahn's army after receiving training from Fujin. Still dealing with the trauma of losing her parents and neighbors during Shinnok's unexpected rampage, she mostly kept to herself, only speaking when Kotal gave her orders.

She didn't have a home when she arrived. Erron Black offered to let her stay with him, since they had been forming a close bond behind the scenes.

Erron aided Aofie in seeking her vengeance against Shinnok. They failed, almost dying in the process. Upon returning to Kotal, he beraded them for sneaking out behind his back, and decided to execute Erron for his actions.

Aofie jumped in the way last minute, her life being taken instead of Erron's. She died on spot, her vengeance never succeeding.

A revenant form was born, and her physical body in the Netherrealm was tainted by demons, causing her to be rebirthed as one. Raiden ultimately reversed it, but she still lives with that form.

Aofie joined Erron when he agreed to be involved in the black dragon. It wasn't her smartest move, but she wanted to make sure Erron was safe.

Her and Erron married in the Black Dragon's headquarters, their bond being stronger than when they first met.

She often sleeps with the same nightmares, watching as Shinnok murdered her parents in cold blood..over..and over..and over again. The fact she wasn't able to get revenge filled these nightmares.

Older her agreed to turn back to Kotal with Erron, despite still being on edge about the memories of him murdering her and threatening Erron.

She has gotten more training since the events of her death, being more prepared and ready for any threats her way. She still plans her revenge, now aiming for Kronika, since she is the mother of her parents murders
