Calling all Spider-People and Variants!

It's come to my attention that there might be several spider-people in the Void at the End of Time. (Because of course, why wouldn't there be, duh, yeah I know.) Word has it that any spider-person who is not Peter Parker, and a few who are, have been or will be "pruned" for breaking the sacred timeline. (The TVA isn't supposed to do that anymore, but some radical elements there still do.)

Well fuck that, is what I say.

I'm mounting a rescue mission. No spiders left behind. I have too many spider-friends and associates who aren't Peters, including a gang of gutsy teenagers I would die for.

The same goes for other "variants" who don't abide by "cannon"!

Please keep the following code handy and transmit it from any device you can, if you end up in the void. I will head out on a rescue mission with a small team. Stay safe out there!

Here's how it works:

1. The invite is for cannon-divergent muses and spider-people, but open to anyone. :)

2. Start a new thread with your own opener. You can start by getting pruned, or waking up in the Void.

3. Remember there are baddies in the void! Your character might run into cannibals, waring factions, Loki or Deadpool variants, or other variants (benign or malignant) and structures or settings which have been pruned.

4. Tag @bstandsforbabydaddy in your opener. We can also dm for plotting.

5. A small team will set out to find your muse. We are keeping the rescue team to 4 or less, to keep the action moving.

6. They can make several shorter missions, so this is an open and ongoing prompt!

I'm very fascinated by various mods for Fallout New Vegas that try to make Perception a more useful and relevant stat. I don't think that it's imbalanced necessarily: in the base game, the range for detecting NPCs on your compass is quite useful and constantly relevant. However, I disable those compass ticks because I prefer to survey my surroundings the old fashioned way with my own eyes and ears, and because I disable most ticks and waypoints and markers in general so that I'm not staring at one corner of my screen too much in-game. Still, without that, the only thing Perception really matters for is dialogue checks and perk requirements. If you're like me, and if you play like I do, then here's the mods that I use to give Perception a purpose again:

Perception in Action is a really cool and configurable mod that gives you the ability to "focus" on your surroundings at will. Based on your Perception stat, focusing like this will decrease all ambient volume and increase all actor volume so that you can hear footsteps, voice lines. It's a great feature for trying to detect nearby enemies "manually," and can also really help you avoid getting sneaked up on. The configurable bonuses really let you adjust how rewarding this feature is to a high (or useless it is to a low) Perception score, too, based on your preferences.

Spidey Sense Perception, which is the latest of several "make Perception more useful moment-to-moment" mods that I enjoy. Based on your Perception score, your character will occasionally perceive that they are in danger (that a hostile has either spotted or begun searching for them) in the form of a visual icon and sound cue. I love it because it takes the original compass-related function of Perception and makes it complement your attention to your surroundings instead of obsoleting it, since your information is imperfect and your spidey sense isn't always going to warn you of danger, only sometimes. I made a patch for it that removes the visual element and dramatically lowers the volume of the sound cue so that it's more subtle, if you're interested.

Precise V.A.T.S. primarily does two things: it requires at least a general level of accuracy while looking at an enemy before activating V.A.T.S. so that it's no longer a simple panic button, and more importantly, directly ties the range of V.A.T.S. to the player's Perception score. Such a good idea that I'm genuinely surprised that it's not a base game correlation, though this mod is very punishing if you have very low Perception.
