GUESS WHO FIGURED OUT 3D ANIMATION!!!!!!!

i started this project on the 15th with the 2d drawing at like 3am. the next day i modeled + textured it and today i spent all day rendering/animating!

this is the 2nd 3d model ive ever made and i couldnt have done it without @crashsune 's course on yt!! i have tried every couple months since 2020 to learn 3d modeling and this is the BEST tutorial i have ever seen.

lots of tutorials show you how to make like. a hyperrealistic donut. why would i want to make that. that is useless. i want silly blocky characters and i want them now!!

i started this series on jan 9th and i fully completed a love-chan using the free downloadables in ONE DAY!! then i watched it again a few days later and made THIS!! im still loosing my marbles like i had absolutely 0 experience or prior knowledge in any way,, (previous attempts never left me with any proper models, only weird squishy nightmare stress creations i gave up on instantly).

hes still a bit clunky but idc i love him. it is literally day 8 of me using blender of all time. ofc its gonna get a lil silly

Nightmare knew that Y/n would be safe with Error. Even if Error wasn't exactly part of his group, he still trusted them to keep Y/n safe. They were smart enough to do that, and Error would take Y/n to places. Part of a little… deal that they had.

And when he heard the familiar sound of a portal opening, he didn't even have to look up from the papers he had been writing on, "Y/n, you're back, I'm glad. How was your trip?"

"I found something in an alleyway… Can I keep it?" They say to him, and he could sense the worry coming off of them… as well as another type of emotion that he didn't think was coming from them.

He lifted his head to look, seeing that they were holding a bundle of blankets in their arms, and they had a small nervous smile on their face. He stares at them, blinking slowly then squinted, "What is it?"

"Why don't you come and see?" They tell him, which makes him roll his one eyeshine, and he moves his tentacle over to lift them up and brings them over to him. They yelp, but then just huff at him and when he brought them over, he saw exactly what was in their arms.

A small babybones. Didn't look that old, but it was hard to exactly tell because of all the different AUs. They had so many different shapes and sizes. A strange little creature, eyeshines were a nice lavender color, a bit more pinkish near the bottom, there was a graident. Tiny fangs instead of the normal flat teeth like classic Sans did.

He stares down at the babybones who was looking around, babbling softly and he lifts his head to look at Y/n who holds them closer to their chest, "So? Can we keep them?" They ask, a small smile on their lips.

Nightmare didn't really care much for children. Why would he? They often got in the way and they couldn't do too much. You needed to take care of them if you didn't want them to somehow end up dying… and it seemed like, at times, they were looking for ways to end up getting themselves killed.

Yet he also didn't want to say no to his datemate. It was something that he often had a hard time doing… ugh, he was a softie for them, or whatever that word was that Killer called him? It also started with an S, but he couldn't exactly remember.

Slowly he sighs, shutting his eye, "They would be a lot of work, but I suppose you can keep them for now. If you need anything, you can tell the others and they will get it for you"

"Oh thank you! I love you" They lean up, kissing his cheek. They never seemed to care about the goop that covered him, and he averts his eyeshine, grumbling under his breath. He saw them wiggle out of his grip, and run off to go and tell the others.

He really really hoped that he didn't grow to regret taking in this child.

hey so like. I’ve been sorta… studying?? Other artists’ styles, like especially ones that have like… a good grasp on color expression and stuff and I’ve been looking at your comics and I was wondering if you have any tips on working with color and contrast? Because I really like how evocative (is that the right word) the colors were in some recent AFR pages

been sitting on this ask (and well, every ask I ever receive, i like to answer on desktop and i'm never on desktop on this account. oops.)

well, for the most recent pages idk if you meant the one where Asriel has a panic attack and the colors changed in every page (warning for eyestrain!) or the consequential fire afterwards.

panic attack scene: Honestly I just used some pre-made gradient maps asldfsadl but usually just to enhance the colors I already put down? hm. so my logic is "i want one color to be bright and as i color pick more to the opposite side (complimentary) i'd make it less saturated. so, if i pick Cyan Blue as the brightest color, then orange would be closer to grey. Purple/Pink would be a halfway point. More likely leaning towards saturation than grey. I spam overlays and a color layer of solid color sometimes to balance things. I like purple, orange or a mid sky-blue as these colors. But yeah, throwing a graident map and having it as an overlay or just plain normal at 30% is a great way to balance things quickly. I also shade with one color (yellow, orange, on the lighter scale.) and shade with the complimentary color. (blue-ish purple). tho, if you're using artifical lights ofc the light source color would be different. but yeah: shadows first: usually light source is from above but can be different depending on context. use your shadow color and (personally i use the default flat painting oil brush) to shade in and keep it at multiple 30-50% depending on how harsh the shadows need to be. (painted lightly typically) light layers -> glow dodge + duplicate at additve at 10%-30% range. Nothing too overblown. I like to select the shadow layer and then use ctrl-i to inverse the selection and then color the lights. tho, i'll sometimes add a soft paint spray without using that selection. because colors aren't fully cut outs, things mix and bounce around u know

same logic but i actually forgot to add shadows kept the pallet simple. the lights are harsher and the fire is drawn above the lighting layers so they're not affected.

i believe i had a general multiply layer of a orange-red gradient and then used a gradient map with harsh contrasting colors to make the darker colors more "green." as for the actual colors, i kept the pallet extra simple!

Literally just used 6 colors on repeat (maybe some lighter tones here and there) it kept the coloring process waaay more simple and keeps the whole pallet monochrome and pretty~

Glowstick Disorder

A birth defect in inklings and octolings that causes their ink, tentacles, eyes, and entire squid/octo form to glow.

No cure has been found for this disorder. However, it is not known to cause anything beyond sight damage, and it is not lethal.

Other symptoms include headache, eye strain and sight damage as previously mentioned.

Sufferers often wear glasses in later life (usually after they start participating in turf wars)

Glowstick ink is a more pastel shade compared to normal ink. For example, a team color could be neon green and a sufferer's ink color would be mint green.

Ninja squid ability will not hide sufferers properly.

For convenience, we'll call it GSD from now on.

Sufferers of GSD are more prone to overheating and fever, as their glowing tentacles are significantly warmer than a normal inkling's/octoling's tentacles.

In the occurence a sufferer is sanitized,

Instead of having blue ring eyes, their eyes will have the same color as before they were sanitized, in the same sanitized eye style.

If they have multicolor hair, the glow on their hair will be multicolor. (Except for if an idol, Squid sister/OTH member, were to have this, the color graident at the end of their hair would glow.)

If they have colored fingertips (think: marina) their fingertips will glow.

In the occurence that a GSD sufferer badly overheats, (Which is rare, but it happens.)

Also, this isn't lethal or damaging in the long run, but it sucks.

Their tentacles turn clear with glowing ink running through them.

Their ink will smell like glowstick fluid (For anybody who hasn't smelled it, it smells like gasoline but worse)

Their skin will turn sticky

They have a possibility of being temporarily immobile as their legs can get stuck together.

Symptoms last 2-4 days.

Originally i was gonna get white shoes cause i thought id have to paint more layers on for it to show on the black but now looking at them im happy i got black as i think it just looks alot better sksk

The tongue and back bit of the shoe are based on the intro thingy colors btw , im not good at graidents which is obvious sksks

Kirin wished she was able to become human once more to observe the beautiful insects that float about with stained glass wings, graident color along with viewing the ornate flowers in bloom..

The only time kirin has seen these beautiful creations Is through books..
