Friendly reminder that not only do these two share a voice actor, their voice actor is Tara Platt...aka for anyone who has played Fire Emblem Three Houses, Edelgards VA.

As someone who has dedicated most of the last five years of her life to Three Houses I find this factoid deeply amusing. Like when I went to the wiki and found out Morgante was voiced by Tara Platt I fucking screamed.

Alright, this post gives us a nice way to bring this up in a way that doesn't break rules/go against the spirit of OPs blog

The player-character from cassette beasts (who might have a canon name? Idk I think that part is me confusing a dream I had with reality) is very plural adjacent

They never really go all out on it, but the way the other characters talk about how it feels to fuse is very plural-coded (don't have exact quotes for this but I might dig some up later). They mention that it feels like they still exist as their own person, but they share the mind of the partner they fused with.

I don't submit this one since it's incredibly temporary (~15-20min real time, probably a similar amount of time in-game) and it's also a "one-time" thing in a few ways (namely, the requirement of a full fusion meter that takes probably about 4 times as long to fill than the amount of time you spend fused)

The other cassette beasts plural-code is the relationship between the player and the Archangel Morgante. She enters the player's mind at the beginning of the game, allowing the player to listen to her "song" at any point

This one misses the mark as a full plural representation because they don't share the body. The player is more of a shell for Morgante while she rebuilds her strength (forgot to mention that your first encounter with her is a very weakened version of her). The other characters don't mention her existence inside your brain, and she doesn't exert control over you at any point.

What's the verdict on supernatural/fantasy plurality? (Possession, splitting souls into multiple beings, that kind of thing)

Supernatural plurality is plurality!

To weed out certain temporary experiences though, possession needs to meet a long-term criterion.

Bill Cipher possessing Dipper Pines in one episode of Gravity Falls isn't plural because it doesn't even last a day.

Bill Cipher possessing Stanford Pines for months and fronting every night while he slept, leading them to communicate through sticky notes like many actual DID systems with strong dissociative barriers do, is VERY MUCH plural!

How long this needs to last is largely up to the submitter's discretion. I won't argue with people who think this standard has been met. I just would like submitters to consider for themselves if this is met so the blog doesn't get flooded with "X is canonically plural because they got possessed by an evil spirit for 5 minutes."

If this restriction seems weird to anyone, another way to look at this standard is that plurality isn't just sharing a body but sharing a life. A one-time short-term possession doesn't do that. It's just invading a body to accomplish some type of purpose and then leaving. A long-term possessing spirit is living in the body. They are eating in it, sleeping in it, showering in it. And even if they aren't fronting, they are still there getting to know the host's life, their friends, their habits. They're still experiencing that life with the host regardless of if they take front or not. They are still experiencing the world through the that body's eyes.

As for splitting souls into multiple beings, if those beings don't share a body, I wouldn't consider them plural. There is some weirdness with hiveminds in that some of them may be thought of as multiple people sharing multiple bodies. But I don't really like the idea of hiveminds being included here yet. Even if certain hiveminds, like the sensate from Sense8, may have extremely relatable experiences to systems that I'd classify as plural-adjacent, I wouldn't consider them canonically plural.
