As you probably did not know all the cats I’ve post this far are from a wonderful roleplay server I’m in called Shadows of the Valley on Discord! Yes, every single one, I’m afraid 💔

I’ve recently made a new kitty that I’m obsessed with, her name is in the title - but I’ll say it again as I absolutely adore it - Brinystriker!

She started life as a loner named Salty with two sisters, Thaw and Seaweed, born to her mother, Precious, and her father, Shrimp. She was the oldest of the three and the biggest, and quickly assumed leadership over her littermates. Her family was not concerned about each other’s whereabouts so long as they could survive. This made it easy to explore without worry of trouble.

She spent a lot of her time chasing thrills and putting her sisters into danger for the adrenaline rush - a real daredevil when it come to escaping sticky situations. Her family were nomads, so she eagerly explored the new places they stopped in, hardly ever living a corner untouched. Eventually made it to the peak of mountain range that encircled the clans’ territory, and breaking off her family, she went down into the valley to explore on her own.

Unaware of the clans living around the lake, she quickly learned the hard way that she wasn’t free to roam wherever. She was chased off one of the territory by a patrol, but it didn’t hurt her spirit too much. After all, she continued to cross the scent markers whenever she liked. No cat could tell where she couldn’t put her paws.

Eventually she found herself in MarshClan and met a future friend (and possible love interest) named Mossripple (played by another person in the server!), who was Mosspaw at the time. She was chased off again by the patrol he was in, but MarshClan was incredibly different from the flat plains and rocky terrain she knew well. It drew her in.

She couldn’t keep away, and often found herself running into Mosspaw. At first she was not eager to become friends, he was too shy and she had no interest in befriend clan cats, but eventually found herself enjoying his company. When she was injured by a fox and in need of medical attention, he was there to help. Bring a medicine cat or two to her aid, her wounds were patched up.

Now Salty wouldn’t have considered joining the clans up until that point, but seeing the medicine cats in action as well as the beauty of MarshClan - and well…Mosspaw was a nice added bonus - she was convinced that this was something she wanted to do. It took some convincing and a lot of hard work to prove her loyalty to the clan, but she was accepted into their ranks.

She trained under Crabpinch without much trouble, learning the values of a warrior and the skills necessary to survive in the marshes, and earn her warrior name alongside Mosspaw. Brinystriker, a full warrior at last, and it’s been that way for a handful of moons.

Main Characters

Snowdance//

Snowdance, our protagonist, is kind hearted, despite his large, intimidating size. He is very loyal and would do anything for his friends/family. Throughout the book, he learns what love really is, and learns not to push away those that care for him.

Starlingtongue//

The love of Snowdance's life, Starlingtongue is the sister of two brothers. The siblings' father was exiled from the clan before they were born, so they did not get to know him. Starlingtongue is fierce, and willing to stand up for what she believes in. The hot-headed shecat is always looking for a fight, and especially despises Sparrowlight, a stuck up tom.

Riverstar//

Mentor to Snowdance, Riverstar is a hardworking, headstrong leader. She is patient with her clan, especially her apprentice and younger brother. Her mother died during childbirth, and her father killed by a fox, Riverstar is followed wherever she goes by grief, something Snowdance picks up on during apprenticeship.

Mooseclaw//

One of Starlingtongue's brothers, Mooseclaw is Snowdance's faithful friend. Unlike Snowdance, he uses his size as an advantage, and works with it in a fight. He is rough and very good in battle, though also has a strategic mind, something that helps decide his destiny.

Mossripple//

Mossripple is Mooseclaw and Starlingtongue's quieter, more patient brother. His small, swfit paws and camouflaged pelt help him sneak around in the undergrowth, a trait that leads Riverstar to choose him as a messenger.

Hopkit and Honeykit//

Snowdance's two bright, bubbly little sisters. The two mischievous shecats' favorite thing to do is play catch-the-tail in the warriors den. They are everyone's favorite kits, especially the elders.

Dapplefur//

Named for his spotted fur, Dapplefur is the only kit of Starlingtongue and Snowdance. The rumor that tortoiseshell tomcats can't have kits leads him to be teased throughout kithood, and even later on when he's older.

Hailmist//

The frighteningly skinny shecat, also Snowdance, Hopkit, and Honeykit's mother, has been sick her entire life, leaving the medicine cat den only for fresh air and to use the dirtplace. Many say it is a wonder she was able to kit at all.
