due to coming down with a case of "probably cracked my rib coughing" i havent drawn anything today but heres some nonsense from yesterday :]

Unsure of what to post so I'm just gonna give my thoughts on individual characters from Fogtown(SPOILERS FOR THE PILOT AHEAD):

Sherblock: Weirdo. Utter oddball. He's dramatic, passionate, eccentric, and really, REALLY cringe. Someone please get this man a hobby that isn't obsessing over dead end cases.

Blockson: Weirdo, but he's only weird about Sherblock. Funny, caring, and a surprisingly good artist, which is something I've never seen from another version of Watson before. No other notes.

Mrs. Hud: SHADY AS HECK. She knows something no one else does, and I am SO excited to learn her backstory. Cunning, and intelligent and very good at lying to Fogtown's greatest detective for some reason. We stan Mrs. Hud in this house.

Lefraude: Himbo. Absolute himbo. Appears to be loved by the public, so he must be doing something right. Pretty sure Sherblock has a crush on him (Sherblock/Blockson/Lefraude love triangle when???)

Mothnapper: FREE MY MAN HE DID NOTHING WRONG. He was making that BAG officer, and what?? You want to criminalize him for it??? For shame. I refuse to believe he's gone and pray daily for his return.

(Bonus) The Mouse: Lefraude's child. The next episode will be about Sherblock having to fight the government to let Lefraude legally adopt them (since he's human and the mouse isn't), and then the Inspector will name them Lefraude Jr.(this is true information, the writers told me themselves trust me)

One more fan character I made

He's a Mothnapper lol

I had this Idea because of a person suggesting an idea having a spider who has the ability to Stockholm syndrome moths lol and I instantly thought about the jumping spider because, oh my, they are so cute you just can't get mad at them.

I thought that he's a somewhat caring person? He's just curious and likes to take things with him. Moths interests him the most and so he tries to track them down and take them with him. He mostly likes the fluff and their story's. Can be a real gentleman sometimes (but mostly if he doesn't know how to catch them if they are quicker than him). He then likes to take care of them and do some stuff together (maybe). If they get boring to him he kills them because spidey need food.

Also has a great sense of humor and mostly doesn't take stuff serious. Always has a dagger on his belt to protects himself from intruders. He sometimes uses like pet names (I think?) to distract his enemies or his victims.

Now that our pilot episode has released on YouTube, we can share how much work went into this fight scene

In the episode, The Mothnapper attacks the detective duo with a sword

Both his sword

And the spatula Sherblock wields back are tied around their hand

We precut a hole into our canvas, and painted a jester as a tease

(The painting was printed out, and we used a box cutter to shave the sides to blend onto the canvas fabric)

This wasn't in the script - we filmed this on the spot

As you can imagine, having to pretend these puppets can fight with a sword, a spatula, and a paint palette is not easy

It took over 50 takes for one shot of Sherblock picking up the spatula and blocking a slash

And yes - the tub hit was practical

Now you may look at this and wonder, what exactly is happening right now?

Well, let us explain!

This is a scene where we have Sherblock, Blockson, Inspector LeFraude, and The Mothnapper around a dining room table

That is four of our puppets on a small set

We have other handmade props to set the stage:

- teacups

- playing cards

- a canvas and its stand (yes, the stand is made out of popsicle sticks)

- and our cardboard dining table - with legs!

On the technical side of things:

Our table is taped onto an arm, connected to a small stand, so the table can be in-frame

The canvas is on a box, so it looks to be at the same height

LeFraude, who is tied up, only shows the back of his chair to make the illusion of him on a fully-built chair

Remember when we talked about lighting? We improvised, using a brown clipboard to bounce light up onto our puppets

(their square heads make it so light doesn't wrap around their faces well, and the brown of the clipboard makes this underlight warmer)

It all seems so simple, when it comes together on-camera
