hm a win: yoga instructor said she loved everything i was doing in class and that i did really well and even pointed out some of the alternative movememts i was doijng during class and i also fell asleep, smiled, and cried during the class and provably my favorite one

don't take all this as Ultimate Advice, im no professional im not even a consistent writer, but with that in mind, here's a couple of rules of thumb from myself to myself mostly (it's okay if you disagree!! i'm not trying to Preach, more like feeling Passionate about Writing and i wanna share that):

• you can actually use as many metaphors as your heart desires, BUT then you gotta limit the number of images & ideas you call upon. if your text is heavy on metaphor and comparison, don't go just inserting every pretty wording you can think of, or it'll get cluttered and mismatched and too noisy; make sure you're using a consistent pool of imagery, an under-layer lore to your story.

(by heavy i mean every-other-sentence heavy, if there's breathing room then it allows us to recalibrate from one aesthetic/understanding paradigm to another; still, even if the metaphors are all different all of them gotta be about Something! not just pretty, but extra meaning)

• short means sharp, long means languid.

short for action adrenaline movememt, long for rich, lavishly calm.

in drama: underexplaining/negative space creates strong fear, long explanations create acceptance (whether peaceful or grieving)

in comedy: there's humour through hilariously unnecessary long-winded descriptions, and there's the humor of surprise when you underexplain and then punch!

• have fun. for the love of everything good, have fun. there's worse and better writing, but there's no Perfect writing. there's no one ideal that every world-famous mind-changing nova-star of an author adhered to, it's all different stuff! the best writing you can put out is the one you like. don't be afraid to critique yourself, lord knows we all need that, but do it through your own eyes. write your dream book!! have fun!!!!

Also? While this might just be part of the choreo, or a Jon-ism, Paul's fingers are splayed, and when he pulls his arms back, it draws the movement and attention of the others. It reminds me strongly of puppetry, as if their strings were wrapped around his fingers and he were reigning them in for just a moment.

Why I think the “Paul became the new Brain after he blew up the meteor” theory has a lot of merit:

It’s hard to see in the proshot due to the editing but in the digital ticket, at the very end of Inevitable, you can clearly see the rest of the Hive pause and turn to Paul as if taking their cue from him.

At this point the song feels like it could already end, but then Paul proclaims “the Apotheosis is upon us” and the Hive immediately follow suit.

Thematically it also makes a lot of sense for Paul to become the “head” of the Hive—this way, him blowing up the meteor is “self-destruction” in more ways than one.

(Plus, he is called the leading man at the start after all)

Raphael's New Year Commitment.

New year, new me, yet still I still suffer the same problems. I promised to myself that I would not screw up this year, and I'll try to keep myself intract with this god-awful list. May this year treat me nicely, may this year could have an open ending like a deep-meaning-yet-cheaply-made indie film.

Studies. For the love of god, Raphael, please focus on your studies. You always got too stucked up and felt like you're smart enough, but no. New year meant a new semester and you will not fucked up your two last ones. There are no words such as 'enough' when it comes to your studies. Study like you'll die if you don't, chemistry and biology are killing you right now.

Books. There are so many books (especially classical ones) that I want to read, yet I always struggle to find time, but I am going to try to read on every one of my spare times. I also don't want those books to only be hobbies, I want to learn with it and to study the language. Maybe I could write better if I read more references.

Write. Oh the dying urge to write and create, yet I never felt the dying movememt to do so. I'll try to write, write, and write with every feelings that I got inside me.

Love life. Raphael, I promise you this that you'll die if you don't got any boyfriends. I know that you're feeling lonely, I know that you need a relying hand that'll hold you, but that's too distracting for you. I'll give you pass if it's only a crush (since I know you never make the first move, you loser), but a committing relationship? Your previous one went downhill, so what I want is for you to focus on studying, creating, and to love yourself first.

Music. I genuinely needed to find a talent. Consuming media isn't enough, sometimes I need to get up and do something, and maybe that thing includes learning a new instrument! I fond the idea of playing a piano, or having a keyboard, but this new year commitment is in a budget. I'll try learning guitar.

Chase that education. You know what? Do that competition, do it. Wether you're scared, just do it, Raphael. That's the thing that has always got through your way, fear and laziness.

Money. You're turning seventeen, and maybe you'll get your bank account. This is still a maybe resolution, but if you ever got money, please spent it wisely. Pay your extracurricular payment first, don't be a fancy pants and buy treats. Save up for... a keyboard maybe? I don't know, just save up.
