if i had a nickel for every time i liked a ship consisting of a woman and her black hair, mustached nonhuman husband who’s a mass murderer and doesn’t completely understand that he loves his wife, id have 2 nickels. which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it happened twice.

Mrs. Bradley is truly the unsung simp of FMA. She was so in love with her husband she questioned absolutely nothing. Not even her son not aging. Not even Greed bursting into their home. Nothing. What a queen.
(sidenote: I personally think her name is Erica"
She truly is. She loved her strange little family so much that she turned a blind eye (ha, just like her husband) to so many red flags 🥴
Or maybe red is just her favourite colour 🚩🚩
If anyone else has any other suggestions for Mrs. Bradley’s first name, drop them down below in the tags and comments! ⬇️

Bradley thought he was being funny when he made that comment about choosing his wife.
And, Riza was thinking, "So you love you're wife huh?" And then she decided to be downright hilarious.

In response to Hawkeye calling his family fake, Bradley really went and said that although everything he has was given to him by "higher ups"...
His wife was another matter.
His wife was chosen by him.
"However, my wife, at least, is someone I chose".
He felt the need to emphasize that.
And BECAUSE it was said as a rebuttal to his family being called fake, he was saying that what he has with his wife was not fake.
For a Homunculus who takes pride in being a Homunculus, said as much to Mustang, and looks down on humans... He certainly took pride in his wife.
I dont know how much love the embodiment of Wrath could feel. But he certainly took pride in her and held her in high regard.
There's also a discussion in here somewhere about how Wrath took pride in Mrs Bradley and Pride enjoyed being her son....
And maybe both of them enjoyed/loved playing house with her much more than they'd like to admit.

I wonder if Pride is the type of person who’s already suspected that his dynamic with Father is a bad one, but he doesn’t admit this because then he’d have to admit he made a bad call by throwing everything behind Father, telling his siblings to do the same, hounding Greed for not doing that, etc. It’s sunk-cost fallacy, Pride has invested too much of himself into Father to turn back now; And eventually it’s become centuries, and Pride has gone through too much humiliation in service of Father, just to admit that the whole thing was a waste of time and all for nothing, and that he duped himself. So he’s the self-destructive aspect of pride that will tear itself apart before asking for help or acknowledging something went wrong.
Oh, for sure. In my head he is the type of person to rationalize everything bad Father ever does to him so he never has to accept the fact that he is a victim. We saw it when he was literally falling apart and Father straight up abandoned him.
Tumblr media
I don't think he would ever admit that Father's plan was a waste of time because he 100% "died" believing Father was still gonna win because how could such a powerful, frightening man lose to a bunch of humans?
He does indeed have a lot of that shame and self-hatred, which goes hand in hand with his pride. Not that he'd ever acknowledge that part. Just the parts where he thinks he's better than humans and, by a lesser degree, his siblings. I think he cares about his siblings (as extensions of himself and, ultimately, Father) but expects them to be as obedient as he is because that's how you be "the best".
It wasn't until his very last moments when his only thoughts were of his "fake" family that we get any indication that he may regret his unquestioning devotion to his Father.
Tumblr media
Pride is undoubtedly a bad person, but he is also a victim of circumstance. I'd say that makes him (like all the homunculi) a tragic character. His own father set him up to fail by his very creation. Father wasn't creating these children to be well-adjusted individuals, he was attempting to shed himself of his own shames and perceived sins.

It's about time we talked about the real simp in FMA: Mrs. Bradley.
That woman had a child that never aged and a husband with evil eyes who kept making thinly-veiled threats to a 15-year-old and she never questioned a single thing. She was down BAD.

I'm just imagining how Mrs. Bradley must have felt when they met.
Like this dude walks up to you like, "Hi, my name is King," and you're supposed to take him seriously?
Mrs Bradley is far too nice. She must’ve seen something in him immediately, and you know what they say about love being blind 😶💀
Maybe it was his loser boy swag insisting he be called “King” that captivated her? 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏼‍♀️
Speaking of Mrs. Bradley: do we ever learn her first name? 🤔 Maybe she’s called Queenie.

A Hearse On May-Day
A review of A Hearse On May-Day by Gladys Mitchell – 241028 Well, here is a curiosity, a novel by Gladys Mitchell that is not only accessible but also has a plot that develops in a linear fashion. Another unusual feature is that it is almost devoid, aside from a brief encounter, of the Gavins, Dame Beatrice’s Marmite-like secretary Laura, her son Hamish, and completely absent is her pet…
