Dol Amroth and their Swan Knights will never not be funny to me. Because yes, swans are elegant, of course the famously noble, very Numenorean family would have that as their banner. You know what swans also are? Territorial and absolutely feral if you approach their home and nesting site. (Mute swans are particularly vicious, many swans are just aggressively defensive, mute swans are actively dicks.)

I love the idea of of Imrahil and his family meeting important people and they're so put together and regal, and then you see them in battle and they are... so scary. I love a Lothiriel who seems so smooth and demure and then will absolutely punch the throat of anyone who touches her without permission, no hesitation, you should have known better than to the touch the Princess of Dol Amroth. I love this family of beautiful noble people who defend their home so viciously that they can bring the most troops of the principalities. What? Like it's hard? A family that will not hesitate to cut you but they'll also be the symbol for nobility and honour, with a Prince that even elves know is a pretty impressive person.

Give me the family of Dol Amroth who are loving and calculated and cold and deeply efficient at dealing with threats. Ones who surprise their enemies by being three steps ahead at all times, but 'Elphir could not have done this, he is so noble,' yeah buddy, but you hoarded grain during a siege so I hope you have fun in the Dol Amroth prisons until after Morannon when we can be bothered to deal with you.

Turncoats? Hard to turn a coat without any of the correct information and each and every one of your sources rounded up before you can warn them.

Slimy advisors? Eaten for dinner, Denethor; sad but we planned for this, Mordor and certain death? Sure, not a part of the plan but our knights are renowned for their battle prowess, let's go and tear Sauron a new one.

Give me noble, coldly efficient, wildly territorial and very slightly feral Dol Amarothians. I beg you. Make their swan a symbol of their absolutely unhinged defense of their beautiful, elegant home.

(But like wild oceans and massive mountains? I have a whole post about how this also gives us insight into Imrahil and his kids, or like, my version of them. Water and stone, commanding oceans and navigating massive peaks. The children of Dol Amroth grow up walking uphill both ways, their knees are scarred and bloody from slipping down sharp mountain paths and they are honed to their lands.)

Henry is sprawled beneath Alex, hair streaked with mud, expression caught somewhere between exasperation and amusement. The rain, which was a drizzle, is now falling in buckets, and both of them are soaked through. Now, also covered in mud, and Alex can’t stop laughing. Henry swore they would be fine. It’s just a little rain, after all, no reason not to take a walk and let him show Alex all the things he has always loved about this place. Yeah. Now here they are, looking like they lost a battle with, well, everything, after having landed in the mud as they slid down the rain-soaked hill. “I am never letting you forget this.” The words tumble from Alex’s mouth along with the laughs that don’t seem to slow. Henry groans and wipes a hand down his cheek, only succeeding in smearing even more mud across his face. “I can’t help that you do not know how to avoid the soft spots on a hill and sent us both down it.” Alex props himself up on one elbow and looks at Henry with mock disbelief. “If someone had warned me I was going to be walking through a series of rain-induced landmines, I would have known to do so.” Alex can’t stop laughing as he looks up at Amy and Henry’s PPO standing at the top of the hill, looking down at them and shaking their heads. Amy hollers down, “Are you idiots okay?” Alex and Henry exchange a look, and both raise their hands in a thumbs-up, laughing again as Alex slips and tries to maneuver himself upright, only to topple back onto Henry. Henry grunts as Alex lands half on his chest and half sprawled between his legs. Alex blinks down at him, suddenly very aware of their position. He watches as Henry blushes and can’t help but think how much he loves this man. Henry’s lips part as if to say something, but Alex beat him to the punch. “If you wanted me on top of you, all you had to do was ask, baby.” He grins as he pushes himself back up to his hands. Henry huffs beneath him and rolls his eyes. “Just get off me before Amy takes any more pics for blackmail purposes, than I’m sure she already has. Alex shifts and rolls to the side of him, with an assist from Henry. Henry rolls to his side and pushes himself back up with a ridiculous and effortless grace that Alex can’t help but admire. Well, admire and want to see in a less muddy setting. Preferably naked, if he’s honest. Together, they get Alex to his feet and slowly trudge back up the small hill. Alex is holding onto Henry for dear life as they make their way up the hill slowly. But he can’t complain with the way Henry’s thighs and ass fills his line of sight. It does, however, make Alex wish this could go quicker so he can get them out of their muddy clothes and into a shower where he can have Henry to himself. When they get back to the house, Alex’s patience is wearing thin. As soon as they’re inside and away from their security, he peels his jacket off and is itching to strip Henry of his rain-soaked and mud-covered clothing. Henry smirks at him, and Alex wants to kiss it off his lips. “Eager, are we?” Alex grins and steps in impossibly close, “Oh, you have no idea, baby.” Henry laughs but follows willingly when Alex tugs him toward the closest bathroom with a shower. The warm water of the shower is a welcome relief after they get rid of ruined clothes. Alex watches as water streams across Henry’s skin, taking with it any muck that remains. This is so much better. When together, they have each other clean and warmer, Alex drops to his knees, intent on messing Henry up in a way that is so much more fun.

I keep seeing people go on and on online with conspiracy theories about the fires here in SoCal claiming it’s some kind of land grab scheme and honestly that is the most idiotic thing I’ve ever seen anyone put forward in my life like no its because of fucking climate change and stupid people the most recent fires aren’t even places that a fire would make for easier development like they are in wild space like I know people who don’t live here don’t realize that there is actually quite a lot of national and state park and just generally undeveloped wild space in California but the fires that have started the last two days in the LA Ventura area have mostly been on mountain and undeveloped hills what’s happening is we have high winds again and no rain both of which cannot be controlled by man it’s fucking stupid
