'Murder Maps' takes you back in time to some of the most shocking and surprising murder investigations in history. In each episode we visit a different era in London's dark past and through dramatic reconstruction we tell the stories of how the killers were eventually brought to justice. As the series progresses we witness how the police deployed more and more forensic methods in the investigations.
On October 7th and 14th 2019 aired the two parts about the Whitechapel murders, titled 'Jack The Ripper (1)' and 'Jack The Ripper (2)'.
We all think we know the story of Jack the Ripper. The most famous serial killer in history, the man who murdered five women on the streets of Whitechapel - and got away with it. In this two-part Murder Maps special, we re-examine those notorious crimes. We reveal how the story we know today was shaped by the sensationalist press of 1888. And we strip back decades of rumour and misinformation to reveal the true lives of the five women slain. With contributions from world renowned Ripper expert Donald Rumbelow and writer Hallie Rubenhold, author of The Five - the only book to tell the lives of the victims, these documentaries are the true story of the Whitechapel Murders as never heard before.

Ripper Street and Murder Maps
In case people didn’t know George Chapman the ripper suspect from “Occurrence Reports” was like Fred Abberline in that he was a real person and a real suspect in the case. Of course nothing was proven for The Ripper but George did become famously known as  the Borough Poisoner.
Learned all this from Murder Maps (also on Netflix) Season 1 Episode 2

Murder Maps, tale of Jack the Ripper (2019)
[Part 1] / [Part 2]
Great documentary foccusing on the lifes of the Canonical victims (Mary Ann Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddowes and Mary Jane Kelly) of the Whitechapel murderer. It’s great to know that two other victims (Emma Elizabeth Smith and Martha Tabram) are mentioned as well. It would be great if one day all the victims are featured in a doc, all of them deserve justice, not just the five.
This is a must seen doc, all the Ripperologists and admirers of the dark Victorian times will enjoy and will know more true facts about the victims.
With:
Nicholas Day  (presenter)
Dr. Lucy Andrew (author of “Capturing Jack the Ripper”)
Dr. Matthew Green (author of “A History of London”)
Alan Moss (former police Chief Superintendent)
Professor Judith Rowbotham (criminologist)
Hallie Rubenhold (author of “The Five”)
Donald Rumbelow (British crime historian)
Cast
Mary Ann Nichols - Charlotte Mounter
Annie Chapman - Penelope Granycome
Elizabeth Stride - Bryonie Pritchard
Catherine Eddowes - Niya Hill
Mary Jane Kelly - Lara Lemon

Worth Watching: Murder Maps (2015- ). I love this series. `Murder Maps' is a documentary series that explores notorious murders from the 19th century onwards, with the help of criminal and social historians, and drama reconstructions. From frenzied attacks to calm poisoning - it's all there, all fascinating.

Murder maps tv series
S1 E1 The Bermondsey Horror
August 17, 1849
At 3 Miniver Place, Bermondsey, police find the body of Patrick O'Connor buried in quick-lime beneath a newly-laid flagstone in the kitchen. Missing a week, the customs clerk and small-time usurer had been a frequent caller at this address, the now vacant home of Frederick and Maria Manning.O'Connor lies face down, his skull bashed in, his legs tied up to his haunches, his features decomposed. Identification is made only by his "less perishable features of an extremely prominent chin and false teeth."

Why does no one on this website watch Murder Maps?
It is a great show about the biggest murder cases in Britain from back in the day when forensics and stuff were just starting to be used. I recommend you watch it!
