I stumble upon the #MutationMarch2025 prompt list on Bluesky, and I think I'll try to doodle a few of them this year. And I'll probably do everything traditional, with a mix of alcohol markers, colored pencils and acrylic markers. I'll try to improve my color skills and slowly work towards a more stylized style.

Heavily inspired by welwitschia, which has only two leaves that grow continuously and split into ribbons.

...it's a saguaro-pod! 😀 I am delighted with how this turned out. Looking up images of saguaro ribs/skeletons was incredibly inspiring.

Mutation March: Botanical Beasts!

After years of wildly mapping out the many strange forms of my surreal creatures, I've decided to try a new approach. The challenge is still the same basic premise--every day, draw an animal but with a weird twist (whatever that means to you)--now with the additional lens of making animals with a botanical influence/aesthetic.
