Physique: Heavyset Build Height: 6'1"
Richard Raymond Majerus (February 17, 1948 – December 1, 2012; aged 64) was an American basketball coach and TV analyst. He coached at Marquette University (1983–1986), Ball State University (1987–1989), the University of Utah (1989–2004), and Saint Louis University (2007–2012). Majerus's most successful season came at Utah in the 1997–98 season, when the Utes finished as runners-up in the 1998 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. Majerus was inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2019.

Majerus was a fan favorite and cult figure around college basketball, known for his portly, rotund figure and his quirky, jovial personality. The portly coach was unabashed in his love of food, always quick with a restaurant recommendation for whatever town his teams were playing in. He enjoyed bratwurst, a sausage popular in his native Wisconsin which is fitting as I would have loved to feed him my love sausage.

Born in Sheboygan, Wis., Majerus graduated from Marquette University High School in 1967, attending Marquette University. After graduating from Marquette in 1970 with a bachelor's degree in history, Majerus was hired by McGuire as a full-time assistant in 1971. After three years as head coach at Marquette, he became an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks for the 1986–87 season. After a stint at Ball State University for two seasons, Majerus accepted the position at Utah in 1989, leading the "Runnin Utes" to a 1996 sweet 16. Majerus worked as a game and studio analyst for ESPN from 2004 to 2007 before accepting the head coaching position at Saint Louis University.

Majerus, married once for two years in the mid-1980s, childless and dated the same woman the last 25 years of his life, famously lived in a Marriott hotel near the University of Utah campus; everyone knew where to find him. Majerus has been in a state of health risk for many years before dying of heart failure in a Los Angeles hospital on December 1, 2012. From what I can tell, he was a jovial, crude, basketball-obsessed coach who had nice tits, packing something big and didn’t mind being nude around people. Sounds like my type of guy.

Samsung to Lead 6G Innovation with AI-RAN Alliance

Rise of 6G Innovation
Samsung Electronics will join the AI-RAN Alliance to enable 6G innovation via artificial intelligence and wireless communication. The company’s AI and wireless communications expertise will help create 6G technologies.
The AI-RAN Alliance was launched at MWC Barcelona 2024. Its main goals are to spur technical innovation by working with enterprises in the sector and to revive the intersection of wireless communication and artificial intelligence. There are eleven companies that are involved as founding members in total. These companies include Northeastern University, Microsoft, Nokia, NVIDIA, Samsung, Arm, Ericsson, and SoftBank. This new partnership will collaborate to produce ground-breaking new technologies and apply them to commercial items so that they are prepared for the next 6G era. This will be carried out in advance of these technologies.
In the words of Charlie Zhang, the senior vice president of Samsung Research America, AI will be a crucial part of this movement. “The Emerging of offerings during the period of 6G innovation are going to change the manner in which people communicate using technology,” Zhang said. In terms of artificially intelligent and 6G networks, it is projected that the AI-RAN Alliance would promote collaboration, spur innovation, and usher in a new era of transformation. They anticipate that this partnership will be able to provide operators and end users with additional value via the use of AI-based use cases and innovations.
The AI-RAN Alliance aims to combine artificial intelligence (AI) with wireless communication technologies for usage in a range of applications in order to create an ecosystem and ultimately increase the range of alternatives accessible to new businesses. Three working groups have been established to do technical research on artificial intelligence: artificial intelligence on radio access networks (RAN), artificial intelligence and radio access networks (RAN), and artificial intelligence for RAN. Artificial intelligence in RAN will focus on creating solutions that use AI and ML to improve spectrum, cost, and energy efficiency.
The main focus of artificial intelligence (AI) and radio network convergence technologies will be on maximizing infrastructure utilization and ensuring optimum resource management. Finding new uses and services that artificial intelligence can provide in wireless networks is the aim of AI on RAN. The results of these projects, which include the creation of technical studies and white papers, are expected to significantly contribute to the standardization and commercialization of 6G innovation within the next several years. This includes determining new services and obtaining technical requirements and specifications.
Samsung plans to take advantage of these collaboration initiatives to drive technological convergence and service innovation that combines wireless communication technology and artificial intelligence. The company is committed to holding a strong position in the 6G ecosystem, given its leadership position in the market for artificial intelligent (AI) and wireless connectivity solutions, including electronic components, software and hardware that supports AI technologies, wireless communication systems, and terminals.
Samsung Research’s May 2019 founding of what is now the Advanced Communications Research Center (ACRC) was the first step toward 6G innovation technology. Samsung Research has been a pioneer in 6G innovation research since issuing the 6G white paper and spectrum white paper in July 2020 and May 2022, respectively. Samsung conducted its inaugural 6G innovation Forum in May 2022 to demonstrate its leadership in next-generation communication technology research and development.
Samsung Research is constantly creating new 6G techniques to adapt to the telecom industry. With regard to the AI-RAN Alliance specifically, Samsung Research thinks that AI-Native will be a crucial aspect of the future 6G innovation networks that are being created. As to Samsung Research, the next network is expected to exhibit significantly enhanced capacity and coverage, complete automation, and high energy efficiency. This is because the 6G ecosystem will naturally include AI. To develop and commercialize next-generation communication systems, Samsung Research will continue to innovate.

Blandys 2004 Malmsey Colheita Madeira is a rich style of Madeira. It is bottled as a Colheita, or Single Harvest, Madeira. It is 100% Malmsey.
For 200 years, Blandys Madeira has been synonymous with quality Madeira wine. The Blandy family has played a leading role in the development of Madeira wine throughout its long history and members of the family continue to live on Madeira, maintaining a tradition that goes back to 1811. In 1989 in order to further expand the global market, the Blandy’s approached another Anglo-Portuguese family, the Symington Family (owners of Port Houses Dow, Warre, Graham and Cockburn amongst others) and offered them a partnership in the newly named Madeira Wine Company (MWC). This partnership continues today and in 2011 the Blandys and the Symingtons signed an agreement giving the Blandy family control of the (MWC). The Symingtons remain minority shareholders. Today, Michael and Chris Blandy, 6th and 7th generation members, continue to work in the company, maintaining a tradition that spans over 200 years.
Blandys 2004 Malmsey Colheita Madeira is made from grapes harvested in a single year. A “Colheita” Madeira is therefore a type of dated Madeira. It has to be aged for a minimum of 5 years in barrels before it can be called a Colheita Madeira. There is no maximum age limit for Colheita Madeira but after 19 years ageing it can then legally be called Vintage Madeira. This barrel ageing gives the Colheita Madeira some of the character and complexity of a young vintage Madeira. After fermentation, and the subsequent fortification, Blandys Colheita Madeira is aged in seasoned American oak casks in the traditional Canteiro system, whereby the wine is gently heated by warm air in the lofts of the company’s south-facing lodge in Funchal. Over the years the casks are transferred from the top floor to the middle floor and eventually to the ground floor where it is cooler. The wine is regularly racked during the ageing process and is finally bottled when the desired balance of maturity is reached.
Traditionally Madeira varies in style and sweetness depending on the grape variety that the Madeira is made from. Sercial produces the driest style, the rarer Tarrantez and Verdelho produce a Medium Dry style, Bual (sometimes call Boal) produces a Medium Rich style and Malvasia (also known as Malmsey) produces the richest and sweetest styles.
Blandys 2004 Malmsey Colheita Madeira is 100% Malmsey and is a rich style of Madeira. Bottled in 2019 at 14 years old.
Only 2598 bottles produced.
