idk maybe it's the ace in me, but i really hate how so many people treat "in love" and "falling in love" as phrases that are exclusively designated for romantic love.

because i say CONSTANTLY that i'm in love with my friends. that i fell in love with them. because it encompasses more fully what i mean when i say i love them. i don't just love them, i'm in love with them. i exist in that love daily. i am held together by that love.

and to act like that kind of love, or rather, that way of conveying love is only for romance is so sad to me. because i think if we divorced those phrases from the connotation of romance, a lot more people would be talking about being in love with their best friends. in the most beautifully and deeply platonic way.

i don't know where this is going but tell your friends you love them! platonic love is beautiful and just as fulfilling as romance, don't let anyone downplay it

There was something unsettling about this man. Not that he was particularly large or intimidating as humans went. Quite the contrary actually as this 'Roman' was surrounded by others who were often taller and stronger than he was, but they all seemed to bow to him for some strange reason, treating him like their undisputed alpha. Zilla wondered why that was. Most of the time, it was the other way around, creatures obeying the biggest and strongest of their numbers without question. That was until the day he'd heard Roman's voice change, his pitch turning from friendly and jovial to something that chilled even his thermally-heated scales. Something had upset him. Zilla wasn't sure what, only that it was enough to make the air stink of fear even from here, the other humans immediately on edge as though anticipating something horrible. More than once, Zilla had caught the scent of blood on the wind, with Roman or one of his immediate underlings usually being the ones responsible for shedding it. The business of humans was their own but from what he'd picked up on, this Roman was one Zilla preferred to keep his distance from. Just the smell of his anger rivalled some monsters he'd faced and then some.

You know, PJ... I'm going to have to agree with you on both parts, Eddie being a very tactile person because that man LOVES his fine suits and well-made outfits, but soft blankets and bedding??? Very cute, love the idea and it's all the more meaningful as he wouldn't have grown up with a whole lot of that, just cheap covers and whatever he was lucky to get back then. This human also smelled different. Again, not in a bad way, like a monster that was only pretending to be human but in a way like he smelled like he belonged somewhere else, like he belonged to the forests over the lifeless cities of stone and pollution where most humans preferred to live. Zilla rarely ventured to places like the forest. They were too far from the safety and security of the sea, too small to conceal something of his size - but that didn't mean he didn't like the smell of them and the gigantic reptile can't help but lean closer in an attempt to catch Dwight's scent again. He grunts as he picks up other scents, bitter and pungent in... what was that thing that humans liked drinking again, coffee? And books, though they were far too small for Zilla to ever be able to read, if he could even manage to learn how. He catches sight of the human at last, verdant scent rolling off him in comforting waves. He didn't look anything out of the ordinary walking down streets of stone. Zilla wasn't a good judge of human appearances anyway but it was apparent to him that Dwight was small even by their standards, and to be smaller usually meant you were more likely to catch the eye of predators. More smells hit his nose, this time indicating trouble. Zilla's huge eye peers over the top of a building to espy Dwight heading through an ugly part of the city, one that smelled hostile. He sees them before Dwight does, a small group of humans that have also caught sight of Dwight but before they can do anything, Zilla raises his head, teeth bared in a silent snarl to which the group drop the cans they're drinking and flee. Dwight continues on, none the wiser and Zilla leaves before the group can alert other humans there was something else in the city.
