A new pair of tuns has been made…. These are a gift for @dire-vulture , of their lovely progens. I’ve never used beads/ sequins in a plush like this, and im soo pleased with how the glimmer looks!
These use an edited version of the Glitchbird pattern from the creative forums.
And of course, them next to the first tundra plush i made about a year(?) ago:

I'm pretty sure I'm going to make my new clan a pinkerlocke clan, just a lot less ambitious and a lot more casual than my previous ones. Like, this one won't have one big overarching plot, it will just deal with day to day clan life, maybe with the occasional smaller arcs.
I'll write a story to go with it of course, as I usually do, but I won't be posting the Chapters themselves to this blog, just the occasional updates for clan lore.
Idk, I'm pretty excited. I kind of hope I have the focus to stick around Flight Rising this time. I feel like having a clan with absolutely no ties to my previous clans would really help with it. And once I establish myself again, maybe I'll move back to wind, which was my first flight and the one I have felt most at home in. Or maybe I'll really like Nature!
Regardless, just 7 minutes until rollover is done and I can hatch the nest and make my flight change, then I need to find new 'progens'. 3 of them, if I am doing a pinkerlocke. And I am thinking of buying a trio of clutchmates, start off with siblings. Idk, I just think it's cool. Either that or 3 nature based gen 1s, triple basic, for the real start fresh feel.
You know what??? Triple basic gen 1s it is. I like that. I'm going to have to start searching.

Post 1: On Poetics
Poetry, am I right? Who needs the stuff? Well, I do. I get paid to go to school for it. I’m not going to bore you with some longwinded introduction where I satisfy your checklist of things that constitute a reliable source because I know you don’t really care. Instead, I’ll direct you to a list of the top 5 most important things to keep in mind when reading and writing poetry (for all ages!). As you can see, they aren’t written on stone tablets, so feel free to disagree with anything I say here (if you do leave comments of dissent, please be kind enough to follow it up with a “because” for others who may be interested).  This is just my personal take from my experiences. Take what you will.
1. Your Poem Should Have Some Sort of Surprise or Insight (It Should Change You)
What distinguishes a good poem from a great poem (or a good poem from a bad poem) is its transformative qualities. To put it simply, a great poem is a poem that truly changes you. You should leave the poem feeling that you’ve learned something about yourself or about the world. Not only will minding the transformative qualities of a poem help you assess others’ poetry, but it can also serve as a guide for your own endeavors.
When writing a poem, we sometimes find ourselves engaging with things (emotions, memories, ideas, art, etc.) that we don’t quite understand or can’t account for. Let us, for example, say we are writing a poem about something wholly original and not at all trite: love. Anyone who has ever been in love has felt the strange emotions that circumspect its comings and goings: euphoria, despair, infatuation, apathy, content, anxiety, reassurance, fear. Now, imagine trying to describe these emotions in a way that accurately conveys their essence; “I’m afraid” isn’t much of a poem (though the conciseness of T.S. Eliot’s “and in short, I was afraid” is quite striking).
The arrival of the surprise in poetry is the result of a successful engagement with the ambiguous and arduous. Put simply, you get the surprise by working through your thoughts and emotions on paper. Be aware that there is no way to foresee the arrival of the surprise. In fact, you might find that it’s in the first few lines you’ve written. Conversely, you might find that it takes weeks of writing or revision to arrive at some sort of insight. Regardless, you should leave the poem somehow changed.
Examples of Surprises:
The Archaic Torso of Achilles- Rilke
The Warning- Creeley
2. Let the Poem Be Its Own Guide (Don’t Force It)
A successful artist is an artistic who recognizes their art and works with it. Well, what the fuck does that mean? Much like every other art, intention often finds itself at odds with the poem. Intention essentially means the objective we bring to the table when we make art. A simple example: “I want to write a love poem.” Great! Everyone loves a good love poem. However, where most beginning poets -and experienced poets time and time again- stall is reconciling intention with output. By output, I simply mean what ends up on the page.
Imagine this: you’re writing your love poem and, suddenly, you find yourself writing about a box of photos you found in your grandmother’s attic. Well that just won’t work, will it? We’re trying to write a love poem! Not a poem about old pictures of your grandmother. What the sensible person would do is get back on track, cross out those inane lines and continue their trek of love. What the poet does is follow the trail of memory. The poem knows what it wants to be just as your intuition knows what the poem should be.
Perhaps one of the greatest struggles beginning poets tend to face is the seemingly sporadic nature of intuition. “This is what I want the poem to be! Why can’t I get it to do what I want?!” Well, uh, that’s because the poem is kind of like a person. I mean, it’s being written by a person based on that person’s experiences, and we all know human experience is anything but simple and linear. Trying to force a poem to do something is like trying to force a person to do something.
As artists, we often forget that our art is not always going to be in tandem with our goals and aspirations. That’s okay. In fact, it’s great! It keeps us from being indebted to our own egos. “Oh? You thought you were going to write the modern epic? No no no! You’re going to write about the hole in your shoe.” Additionally, who’s to say that love and the box of photographs are entirely unrelated? Love is a complex and multifaceted emotion. There are many kinds of love: romantic, sexual, familial, idealistic, etc. What the poem is trying to show you is the relationships between your love for a partner and your love for your grandmother. Let the art run its course.
3. Avoid Clichés
This, in my opinion, can be a make it or break it for poetry (and all art). Nothing turns an audience off like being cliché (think dad-rock). Unfortunately, there’s no end to the barrage of hip, Instagram poetry that somehow passes as insightful and profound (@ Milk and Honey). I try not to sound like a pompous asshole as much as possible, but everybody has a line in the sand, and this is mine. Just don’t do it. Don’t be that person (poet).
For one, it’s contrived, and it’s obvious because you can’t tell the difference between any of the people writing the poems.” Two, it takes little to no effort to write Instagram poetry:
Just because you’ve decided to
Stay inside doesn’t make you
Anything less.
Even the butterfly needs
Time alone to grow
 Truly inspired.
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, there are other clichés that you’ll want to avoid. The most common ones usually occur in metaphor or simile:
My love, you are like a flower
Swaying in the summer breeze
Okay, so let’s break this down. One, there’s nothing really surprising about comparing your love to a flower. It’s been done many times; at this point, probably too many times. Two, there’s also nothing surprising about a flower in summer. It’s to be expected. Three, while the entire image itself is beautiful (flowers in the summer breeze), it doesn’t reveal anything unique about the speaker’s love. In fact, some would find the use of such a bland and predictable simile almost insulting.
*Now, here’s where an exception to clichés comes in. This would be a perfect simile if you were trying to be sarcastic or humorous about your relationship without being too on the nose*
So how do we spice this up? Well, we make the simile surprising:
My love, you are like the muddy river that runs under the bridge
Cool and murky as you drift through my fingers in the summer’s heat
Okay, not the greatest lines ever written, but more interesting than flowers in the summer breeze.
What often helps all writers think about interesting comparisons and images is being honest about the emotions behind them. We understand that you’re in love, so we want to hear about it, actually hear about it. When you think about the person you love, do you actually think about flowers in the summer breeze? Or do you think about the dumpster behind the cafeteria where you first kissed? Or how they snore in the middle of the night? Or how you’re always late because you both decide to lounge in bed until 2 in the afternoon?  I guarantee you that being honest about the mundaneness of love (or whatever else you decide to write about) will produce something with more candor and accessibility (meaning, resonant with others) than lofty misconceptions about what love is.
As a final note on the cliché, always remember to be true to your own voice. Emulating other people’s poetry can be a fun and useful exercise to develop your own skills, but it is not an end. I’m honestly surprised how many times I’ve encountered poetry from the 21st century written like this:
Hark! Mine fellow scholars! Doth thou hear the gentle wings of poesy?
No, sir, I don’t hear it. Chaucer is dead. Shakespeare is dead. And for good reason. Let’s keep it that way. While most of us don’t speak poetically often, we certainly don’t speak like that anymore. Stay true to the times.
Examples of subverting or flirting with the cliché:
Porphyria’s Lover- Browning
The Flea- Donne
4. Play With Formalities of Structure and Grammar
I’ll keep this point brief because it’s pretty straightforward. Poetry does not have to abide by the formal rules of structure and grammar. In fact, there are very few rules at all.
You can write your lines as whole sentences
Or you can break them up.
You can use commas, periods, exclamation points, etc.
Or you can completely forgo them?
CAPITALIZATION and italics can help
Emphasize certain words that you think are IMPORTANT
Words can be bro     ken up in any num-
Ber of ways do(n’t) be afraid 2
Experiment w/the formalities of language!
5. Stay Grounded in the Real
This may seem like an odd piece of advice but it’s something that has significant consequences for most art. A few, short years ago I was briefly enamored with the complexities and possibilities of language that poetry offered, which manifested in this poem:
For if she flees I should pursue, Through vision, Thereafter? Feather footed, criminal as we are.
Samael, So once we were, Golden swans littered across the sky, Bathing/bourn/bearing
Light
Time beyond candlelight, Wicks, unto you, Progenic burning, Great love, Fallen
Meadows, Whisper sweetly and, Slither into my dreams, Carry with us, black as we rose So Mourned, Thus forgotten
Disembodied, I will never be beautiful
Windows, Searching fragments, Arrested above the surface, And if we look back, Snatched away
 Remnants, Objects of decay
 Simply, perpetually, Echo
From you, Eternity, Effusive threshold, Forlorn foundation, Dripping through fingers, All the things you are
 Cuping flame, Gentle blow
I was new enough to poetry to still be proud of my writing and gave it to my mentor for his thoughts. After reading it, he asked me “what part of this poem is grounded in the real?” At that moment, I realized that I had gotten so caught up in creating images that I had forgotten to give the poem any kind of “soul.”
Indeed, all this poem is is a bunch of nebulous images that say nothing of the world. There’s a reason we relate to Lucifer instead of God in Paradise Lost. It’s because Lucifer represents us, “the real.” Despite the fact that he is a celestial being, his actions and emotions are human and that’s why we like him. He’s grounded in the worldly.
Think about it like this: the reason you probably hated those books you read in high school and college is because they didn’t resonate with you (yet?). There’s nothing in those books that speaks to your reality. Take, for instance, The Crucible; it’s written well-enough, but I hate it because it doesn’t say anything about my experience. It doesn’t say anything that I can relate to or care about. You “don’t get” Shakespeare, or Chaucer, or Faulkner not because you’re dumb or you didn’t try hard enough, but because their stories might not speak to your experience as a human being.
It’s also worth noting that age does play a factor in almost every kind of art. That’s why you grow out of certain literature, tv shows, genres of music and people, because they no longer speak for or reflect who you are. The art that remains is the art that continues to say something about the world in our eyes.

@clefclefairy wait oh my god modern and ancient genes weren't separated ?? jesus ??? seasonal items in the marketplace is also insane. like everything else is like….my tolerance level for bullshit is like those abyssal vent worms because of neopets but i think those two are bonkers even for me. how the hell did you differentiate genes??
ok sorry but i need Posting Space to explain the absolute debacle that was ancient gene bloat. someone else can chime in on this because my sense of time is totally fucked but i think it's only been about a year since the problem was fully fixed? after about 5 years of fully festering despite player concerns and accurate predictions on what was about to happen
1: all genes used to be sold in the same marketplace tab. people would report going weeks without seeing the version on the gene they needed stock in the marketplace so snipping prices got bad
2: currently you can go to Glass & Gloss to get activity based genes. Back In The Day if you wanted to give your fuckin uuuuummm sandsurge boulder? it's not at Arlo's like the modern it's a Baldwin recipe. how about your aberration capsule? that is a separate Baldwin recipe from normal capsule, and banescale capsule, and undertide capsule, and-- there are also some coil and notn that are on multiple breeds so grinding for those was obnoxious and caused inventory bloat. i looked it up real quick and there was an entire Swipp gene on moderns + two ancients at the time. now if you want a activity based gene on your ancient you can just acquire the modern versions normally and trade it in for the ancient version. ancient only gene coli drops/Swipp trades are now generic "parchments" instead of "scrolls" that are also traded in for the relevant breed's scroll
3: you may notice modern breed genes are labeled like "Primary Gene: Bar", "Tertiary Gene: Ringlets" etc etc vs ancient genes labeled like "Primary Aberration Gene: Bar", "Tertiary Gaoler Gene: Ringlets" etc wtc. previously they were labeled like "Primary Gene: Bar Aberration", "Tertiary Gaoler Gene: Ringlets" MEANING if you searched for "Bar", "Ringlets", etc etc in the AH or database it would show you the scrolls for every single gene variant and the breed name being at the end made it very difficult to read. i mean like the word Aberration is simply too long to show up on the item title, i mean like for genes with longer names would also push back breed names and cut it off, you needed to rely on the tiny picture or hover over the pic (something you can't do on mobile) to double check. it was a nightmare. people bought wrong versions of genes all the time because since the marketplace was in shambles you couldn't rely on finding the version you wanted so you gotta go to the AH and buy at jacked up sniper prices if one's been having bad stocking luck and if you accidentally bought the wrong version (very easy to do (very easy to do (VERY EASY TO DO))) it'd be near impossible to resell because the massive bloat meant everyone else was having the same problem
it was horrible. it was a nightmare. staff dragged their feet on it for seemingly no reason and the whole time a new ancient was dropping every 6 months or so while the gene pools for existing breeds contained to expand in the meantime. we lived like animals
also while i'm on the topic of The Great Ancient Gene Bloat Debacle. because all of us who were around for this still hate it and remain bitter to this day for multiple reasons. you know eye types?? you know how some of them can show up randomly via breeding but, you know, if you're breeding for the perfect dragon or buying gen1s you can just save up and pop into the marketplace to buy a vial real quick??? these were fully randomized do you understand me almost all eye types were fully random and could only be acquired via hatching new dragons all of our progens and beloved permas were locked out of the cool new feature dragons only have a 1% (ONE) of hatching with primal eyes they were RANDOMIZED DESPITE BEING A RETIRED ITEM SCATTERSIGHTS WENT FROM BEING BIG MONEY MAKERS TO WORTHLESS WITHIN HOURS OF THE UPDATE AND IT WAS WORTH IT WE LIVED LIKE ANIMALS!!!!!!
i can not articulate how hated the situation was. when Eyepocalypse 2.0 hit and people could finally buy mulitgaze and primal eye vials after several years of begging it was literally like this:
Tumblr media
in a way, i must envy new players. at least you guys didn't drop absurd amounts of dragon cash on scattersights only to roll uncommon 3 times in a row
good ? news i have now achieved the nightmare scenario of having ONE of the two boss familiars from the lvl 25 trio. stone borer mantarune and fear frog. orz i never got either of the 'rillas from naturefest either so i'll have to slog thru bamboo falls again sometime soon, boo. better than having none ig but i want the chrono trigger reference familiar from fiona...pls...
RIP 🙏 for the longest time Gorilla Forest was the best place to grind for drops because it has/had a nice even spread of food types. idk if there's a even more efficient venue now but at least 2nd best is still good for grinding
also how did i not know Fiona had a Chrono Trigger reference until now (i might've known at some point but it's been 5 years since Fiona dropped wheeze)

Lair Review for BatCrooks!
@flightdescending - first of all clever tumblr name, second of all cute fr name, third of all you wanted some positive attention, friend  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
well buckle up here comes SOME POSITIVE
kay so first impressions!!
love all the little mushrooms on your profile, and i dig the free rice dot com rep!! that’s a good website that i should use more often
your tabs are good. good good good. the “do they spark joy” tab name made me smile. lemme tell you those guys spark joy for me, i’m digging the apparel choices, and also zweizwei and dreidrei, literally their names are twotwo and threethree in german and that makes me so happy that i had to squeak it out lout
the organization of your tabs flows nicely!! i like how the colors shift as you scroll down a page in your more populated tabs. v good.
that g1 nocturne that’s up in your sale tab Is Cute... wishing i had more permanent dragon space available OTL (isn’t that what the hibernal den is for, self?)
YOU HAVE GOOD TASTE IN ACCENTS HOLY SNACK CAKES!!!
and into specific dragons!!
Tumblr media
you have a whole tab called pod’s garden, how do i not review pod? i like how the primary and the tert work together to make swamp less of a nightmare color (i may have a thing against swamp bc it’s my custom progen’s tert and it clashes with her purples)!! congrats on making a color i’m not fond of Really Look Good!! also sky shimmer is gorgeous, his accent makes me squee, his fashion is impeccable gardener chic, and THAT ART. <3 all that art! god i love him.
Tumblr media
homily here looks like a living chunk of forest floor and i love her!! this PARTICULAR accent would squick the daylights out of me normally but on her? on her? it works for her. the muted red/orange/yellow/green look is fantastic on her, and somehow she looks like she’s alive and could start moving. she could be a gif for all i know. A Super Good Lass.
Tumblr media
i just wanna spotlight the REALLY REALLY COOL EFFECT that kappa’s accent and secondary gene have together. the greeny-beige outside of the wing, plus the deep red inside of the wing?? DAMN, that’s some GOOD shit, it makes him feel extra three-dimensional, like i could reach under and poke the underside of his wing. Great effects with the color scheme on him, a muted and non-christmasy red/green combo that i dig!
Tumblr media
starshroom is really cool!! purple/green/black color combo works super great on him, and that accent is KILLER GOOD. also the BUFF ART of him i’m absolutely in love with. (i previewed that accent on my mirror boy graves AND NOW I KINDA LOVE THAT ACCENT)
Tumblr media
i forgot i had opened a tab for dispiacere and when i clicked it I GASPED BECAUSE SHE IS SO ELEGANT AND PRETTY. like a dainty, graceful, green and blue queen! a royal lady, as she is now. that preview you have of a gened form down the bottom though? *chef kiss* SHE WILL BE A STUNNING GEM GODDESS.
Tumblr media
zweizwei - aka twotwo - gives me some excellent vibes that sit on the exact middle between world-weary wizard and mad scientist. i can see him with pages and pages of notes, sighing and staring into a bubbling cauldron. he is evocative!! a good!!
Tumblr media
whiskey is a steampunk cowboy and i wanna see him light up a crystal mine with a laser battle as he gets into a dubstep fight with another steampunk cowboy. thank you.
Tumblr media
cherryberry is awesome because the accent, the secondary and tertiary being blue-range, and with the way you’ve dressed him, come together to dupe you into thinking his primary is in the darker blue range and that he has some kind of accent that gives him an ominous bloody maw. i am IMPRESSED at how you constructed his look, he looks like a steel-type warlord that you super don’t wanna cross.
Tumblr media
vern’s lore is SUPER unique and he looks like he could be a lacey decoration. i can see him as an anime boy who gets lots of fanfic written about him. congrats on making another difficult green-tone work as a primary with the aid of rad secondary and tertiary choices, and congrats on creating a dragon that looks delicate but gives off cut-you-with-a-glare serious vibes from lore and art at the same time. well balanced!
Tumblr media
squid keeps catching my eye, i really like the very clear water spirit vibes of him. also i love putting the deepsea bulbs on faes, and the art of him is SUPER HECKIN CUTE. he is a good boy and i’m pretty sure if i crossed him in the depths i’d be done for, but it’d be okay bc he’s soothing to look at
wait, you said “quick lair review” didn’t you SHIT SORRY OKAY I’LL WRAP THIS UP
in conclusion GODDAMN i love how your lair is organized and how you dress your dragons. you have interesting lore and a GOOD FUCKIN ART COLLECTION. god, you just. you have a lot of real good dragons!! congrats on a splendid lair!!

OK so- I’ve wanted to draw Flight Rising Mirrors for a while now- considering my Progen is a Mirror and my favorite breed are Mirrors.
I tried to use real-life analogs for getting the anatomy right- mainly dogs; greyhounds and Salukis; skinny dogs. but my anatomy never looked right- the legs were too long, the body too short.
So, instead of using real-life animals, I went back to the source, and traced around each individual parts of a mirror (head top, jaw, neck 1, 2 and 3, core, should R and L forearm; you get the gist) anyway I was super surprised to see that; like the Snapper- Mirror’s Hind legs are longer than their back legs (although not to the Snapper’s degree) and Mirrors have more of a Ferret-like build- they’re really long with shorter arms; great if you’re in an environment with lots of trees and crowded places; it helps you move quicker.
I’m not 100% on the wing anatomy, but it’s the best I could do
Tl;dr Mirrors are weasels and probably bounded like them too

Day 43
Rank your dragons in order of most loved/lavished by you. (At least 10 if you have more)
#10
Tumblr media
Birthday Dragon. One of the 3 times I get a Gem gene for a dragon but also I actually love that she is Green/Red primary as it fits a sort of lore regarding my first 2 Gen 1 hatches that are also greenish/reddish complementary colors. (Basically a mercenary group with a chef).
#9
Tumblr media
The Thundercrack Gen 1 project I did in honor of the person who introduced me to FR. Her apparel plan isn't set I just have her as the Nightfall Starsilk owner but had to take the wingdrapes out because she looked off with them.
#8
Tumblr media
I just... really love her colors. They stick out a lot in my lair from all the keepers I have. She even has art with the skin but not the apparel because well I just don't prioritize dress/apparel plans.
#7
Tumblr media
An oldie that came bred but one of the first I leveled to 25 on my own. I also just love how his apparel blends/meshes with his colors.
#6
Tumblr media
(Pink therapy dragon I regened to make real)
#5
Tumblr media
An oldie that I also leveled to 25 on my own and one of my first. I even bought him the skin when I slowly started to become active again. Apparel plan is still a wip but I'm not sure what else to add as it looks like everything is covered (just pants but not that much of a biggie without them).
#4
Tumblr media
(Expensive pink therapy dragon named after Whirlpool Galaxies) I got her art this week before I even gened her because it was cute too.
#3
Tumblr media
She's had the apparel for years along with the familiars since it looked matchy with her color scheme and then back in May-June I bought her the Starfall Skin and now she is my wishlist dragon because of that skin. I'm so happy I kept her even if lineage is wack.
#2
Tumblr media
He has more art than my customizable progen (even if on purpose because I was unsure what to give my other Progen).
He also came in purple so I thought that was cool since it looked matchy with my customizable one (although I'm starting to realize after seeing some players complain about their randoms that I was a part of the "lucky" spectrum.)
Mismatched breeding from the early days but I still love them even with the tert.
#1
Tumblr media
(This shouldn't come as a surprise)
I spent way too much gems on her already. I didn't know what I was doing when I made an account since it was just player saying they had Welcome Week back when registration to the site was limited during certain weeks.
I've said it before but her primary and secondary are based on the Arcane Banner colors that looked matchy (because I can!) Whereas Magenta because I liked it better than say Fuchsia or the more matchy Bubblegum to sort of "pop out" more.
Tert was just "they look the same no matter which color I give them compared to primary and secondary". I was thinking more pink but.. I love blue. Let's be different at least and add blue. "Hey Azure sounds like a fancy blue to have. Azure it is!"
Like Erskine lineage is wack in some cases from my early days (and I kinda do not understand "not breeding your progen cultures because that was the first thing I did + they're your progens so they are clanbound meaning you can only exalt and not sell them, like I understand other gen 1s hatched from unhatched eggs but... progens... aren't going anywhere anyway).

Flight Rising Asks
1. What’s your favourite breed?
Judging by my Lair, Imps and Skydancers are a tie. Used to love Nocturnes, but I guess it was a passing fancy.
2. What are your favourite genes?
Opal. Love Opal. And Metallic. It just SHINES, so pretty.
3. What’s your favourite dragon in your lair?
Uhhhh, only ONE? Hm. That’s a toughie. I guess Arcalion, he's one of my Progens. Or maybe Nivur, just for the Lore that she inspired.
4. What’s your favourite familiar?
Hm. The Woodland Turkey. Have you ever seen Turkies in real life? They move like little Velociraptors. And they make the cutest sounds. They're ugly as heck though, but still neat.
5. What’s your least favourite familiar?
Boolean. Because it's only for the rich, and even then, it's impossible to get one.
6. What skins do you wish you had?
Reborn by Apel (@apel-rising). But I'm not shelling out 30k of gems for a custom skin that someone else owns all the copies of. I'm crazy, not stupid ;)
7. How much treasure do you have?
Currently? Just over 22mil.
8. How many gems do you have?
525
9. Who’s your favourite Flight Rising user?
I'll say Eeriansadow because I know her and she's awesome. Then Mezzo (@circuit-wings) because I love her accents and she puts up with me whenever I need a Fire Nest, haha. Actually anyone that puts up with my constant need to rent a nest is awesome, they're listed in my Profile!
10. If you could have a deity in your lair, which one would you choose?
Hm. It's a tie between the Arcanist and Gladekeeper. Arcanist because he seems to be a bit of a troublemaker, and I identify with that. And Gladekeeper because I'm a nature-lover and love my headcanon that She 'changes' with the seasons.
11. How much did your most beautiful dragon cost?
*Eyes Lair* The most beautiful? Not as much as you'd think. The most expensive was Arlia - 3000 gems in auction. Though the seller was nice enough to throw in an accent along with the noodle
12. What would you say is your most successful nest?
Well, Crandal and Kimiko are the ones that end up netting me the most money lately, but Siwan and Futhark are a Noc pair that everyone clambors over in winter.
13. What flight are you in, and why?
Nature. I've always been drawn to nature-like things, in RL and online. And I loved the Gladekeeper design. I actually have a 'Nature Dragon' tattoo on my upper right arm.
14. Do you dislike any flights, and if so, why?
Usually no. But Light has been irritating me lately - they don't seem to want anyone else to have Dominance. It's rude. Let someone else win for a bit, hmm?
15. What’s your least favourite breed?
It's a tie between Tundras and Snappers. I just don't like their art, or how genes look on them.
16. Is there a dragon you wish you had?
I have a long wishlist of dragons I wish I had. All of their colour combos have never existed on the site, unfortunately. The search continues!

so i guess like
if you mess up and make another account for RP reasons back when u first join in 2014, then find out really soon after multi accounting is against the rules and abandon said other account
and dont touch it for literal years, like it had nothing it in, like you made progens and thats about it (something u can see from admin side btw)
you can still lose your main account. oh but they dont tell you. you gotta email them 4+ times just to hear back from them after like 2 months
hm
ok cool FR, continue running the same as you always have. bottom of the barrel.
why do i somehow think this could also be because i’ve been a snarky critic of how your lack of management ends up with things like this, or the mass of recent players who lost their accounts bc they were on college campuses with shared IPs lmao
at least i was getting fed up with the lack of actual game development and was drifting anyway. time to cancel FR skin commissions and anything that would have otherwise brought them revenue
footnote: yeah it’s my fault I have adhd (and neurological + vision issues that uhhh make it hard to read) and skim when I read and oops, grazed over some stuff in the TOS. I get that wouldn’t fly in the real world. but kinda thought a week of having an RP account + 3 years inactivity would be enough to warrant something less permanent, like holy hell we all make mistakes my guy and mine wasn’t purely laziness but
(shrug emoji)
not too mad about the lack of poorly devved dragons, just flabbergasted at the lack of common decency i suppose

For the ask meme, all 16 questions?
Edit: I posted this via mobile. I’ll try to clean it up and read more it when I get home tonight. Until then, sorry for the formatting.
Edit 2: Okay here we go! Answers below the cut!
Whew. Okay, sure, let’s try!
1. What’s your favourite breed?
Starting off with a rough one. I don’t really know for sure but I can pretty easily narrow it down to four: Mirrors, Mirrors, Mirrors, or Mirrors.
2. What are your favourite genes?
Basically everything from Baldwin, and also Runes!

3. What’s your favourite dragon in your lair?
Oh my god don’t make me pick. Um. Hmm. I mean I guess my progen. He’s the only one I’d quit the site over, if somehow he got exalted or w/e.

4. What’s your favourite familiar?
Trick of the Light! I love the whole fox spirit vibe.

5. What’s your least favourite familiar?
Mmmmmmm. I’ll say Boolean, because it would normally be one of my faves except I’ll never even have the remotest chance to own one.

6. What skins do you wish you had?
Eh. I don’t have any on my wishlist. My skin purchases are almost universally spur of the moment impulse buys.

7. How much treasure do you have?
~350k last time I checked.

8. How many gems do you have?
Like 50, lol. I’m broke. I blew all my money on apparel since the dressing room came out and haven’t played enough to get it back.

9. Who’s your favourite Flight Rising user?
Me! I know, that’s like an incredibly narcissistic answer, but I’d rather say that and sound like a jerk than list names and inevitably forget someone who matters to me. For real, though, there are so many good folks. My mutuals here, the folks who watch my hatchery thread, the regulars in the Mirror Appreciation Society thread. Plenty more.

10. If you could have a deity in your lair, which one would you choose?
The Windsinger. And then I’d move back to wind to finally bring him home.

11. How much did your most beautiful dragon cost?
“Most beautiful” is tough to define, it kinda changes based on the day. Some of them were fodder priced, others involved millions of treasure worth of scrolls.

12. What would you say is your most successful nest?
On a personal level, the progen nest that gave me a double Azure daughter. On a business level, probably Boreas and Serenity as a pairing in general.

13. What flight are you in, and why?
Light. I joined for the aesthetic. I stayed for the dom discounts and extra gathering turns.

14. Do you dislike any flights, and if so, why?
Aesthetically, I’m not a huge fan of the rot and disease side of the plague look (but I’m all over some of the survivalist themes). As for communities, I figure every flight has good and bad aspects so nah I don’t dislike the players in any of em.

15. What’s your least favourite breed?
Skydancers. A combination of disinterest on my part compounded by hype backlash from them being as popular as they are.

16. Is there a dragon you wish you had?
Not really at the moment. Just like with skins, my dragon desires are always very impulse driven in the moment. I guess I’ll cop out and say Windsinger again, he technically counts, right?

Non-Lore Lair Review for user Chocoli.
First Impressions: Although there doesn't seem to be a super cohesive theme, you've got a lot of capes and dresses, so I'm expecting some really regal dragons! There are so many bright colours and I’m loving it
Tumblr media
1. Aquamarine - I really love when the first dragon in a lair is  a progen. Mine isn't, for lore reasons, but I really enjoy when people still treasure their first dragon enough for that little bit of respect. I like that you've got an in lore reason for him being both The First, but still not the leader of the clan. It's a nice touch! Speaking on looks, I adore how cohesive he altogether is. You've even gone so far as to get him a false white underbelly to make it all work! I love it. The layering on all of his various coats is interesting but it gives him this air of someone who is trying to keep warm. All in all I really like him! A very good progen, and first peek into your lair.
Tumblr media
2. Constellation - I am an eternal sucker for dark blue/purple Skydancer girls. The moment I saw her I knew I needed to gush about this beauty!! Seriously, those silks, that accent, that familiar? I think I'm in love. I adore the lore that you have written for her as well! The first paragraph is fun and an interesting look into her existence and the second two paragraphs are very interesting, especially since they are also included in Celeste's bio. I love the mirroring! No matter what their origins are, it's a beautiful way to make sure that anyone who reads the lore knows that these two dragons are undoubtedly linked. I'm also a big fan of any usage of the cosmo gecko. It's just a cute lil thing isn't it?
Tumblr media
3. Nymph - Perma babies are such a cute touch to any lair! I have one myself and I think they're a neat way to either showcase where a lair is in it's timeline, or to just show off what a person's favourite baby dragon model is. Spirals are a very neat choice because you get a lot of coverage for whatever the primary gene is, as well as the adorable ears that stick so far up. And now that we have different eye models, I think spirals show them off best. So for your perma baby to be a tree themed (always a good choice) spiral (love it) who has one of the new rare eyes? Absolutely superb. The little worldbuilding lore in this child's bio is a really sweet touch. I love the idea of there being nymphs who influence the growing season of Sorneith.
Tumblr media
4. Twilight - I love the look that Twilight has going for her, something dark and broody, but seemingly at odds with her lore. It's really fun and I'm a big fan! I'm also a fan of the hopeless romantic character trope. Like, me too man, Soulmates and stuff? I'm down. In any case, it's Adorable and makes her very interesting. I did take a gander at her mate's lore, and I like the idea that even though Midnight doesn't subscribe to the idea of soulmates and cosmic love, he's still very much in love with Twilight. Real relationships don't always agree on ideology but can look past it easily enough. Its also nice that you didn't make Twilight's whole world depend on only Midnight by giving her a friend (taking them away, and then giving her a new one).
Tumblr media
5. Krakatoa - Got to have some diversity in who I look at by doing at least One orange dragon. I really like how you've dressed him to give him a sort of spunky, dangerous trickster look. His clawtips match his eyes as well and that's perfect! I will admit I'm not a big fan of crackle, but since he's an xyx I actually didn't notice it at first so I think its acceptable. For me, Krakatoa's big draw is his lore! I really enjoy how you've described that he's both deeply involved in the protection of the clan, but knows how to have fun and direct his energy elsewhere when off duty. If your clan were a setting in an adventure game, I think Krakatoa would be the helpful guard the protagonist meets who helps them learn the warrior trade.
Tumblr media
6. Rose - I think I've done enough with other dragons, it's time to return to my one true love in skydancers everywhere. Rose is downright gorgeous! Shes another tree themed dragon like Nymph, but this is an adult who can be dressed and bred. I think Rose is the perfect dragon to use the cherry dryad lotus accent. Also, as more and more genes are released, I think that the older ones get left behind. It's nice to see such a gorgeous dragon who is wearing such old genes as ripple and seraph. She also has your clan's active nature sprite (I know you have the whole set) and that's a perfect choice in my opinion. I also think the art you have of her is adorable ^u^
Tumblr media
7. Fuyu - This darling guardian has totally caught my eye. I love all the roses and swirling patterns! Her lore stating that she want's a garden like the Viridian glade or the Tangled wood, is so bittersweet, especially since she Looks so much like she belongs with the nobles of Shadow. I like the idea of her being a very calm and relaxing dragon, and caring deeply for a dragon who is quite the opposite. Despite wanting the gardens of Nature and Shadow flights, she really does have the essence of a Water dragon! Very good overall.
Tumblr media
8. Cordierite - The druid's outfit isn't as cohesive as some of the others, but I think it's perfect a dragon of her occupation. She also helps with Fuyu's gardening attempts! That's so cute! As an ambassador I think it's fitting that she has a dappled dunhoof as her active familiar. I like your usage of the Dryad's Guise to show that even though Cordierite, although accepting of being in a water clan, is not ashamed and has not forgotten her wind heritage.
Tumblr media
9. Triplicate - A mechanic of gold and azure! I love the colour mix and the various apparel that you're using. I know I've mentioned it before, but I like how you haven't moved on from some of the older things that flight rising has to offer. He absolutely does look like the workaholic that his lore describes him as. It is cute, if maybe kind of sad, touch that he's too (shy) busy to have a mate and to have met Aki. Perhaps one day this will change. I really do enjoy Triplicate, and I wish him the best in your future lore.
Tumblr media
10. Oidhche - I think it's a good idea to end off somewhere similar to where we started. Talking about appearances first, I like the skin that she's wearing, and I'm always a fan of ebony armour. I also am a fan of how you tied her wearing a skin into her lore. I'm curious what all this woman has been through! She sounds exactly like the sort of person who is exactly like you've described - word of law. And as strange as might be, I also enjoy that she isn't the happy go lucky figure head, nor is she the relaxed sort to let her subjects work things out entirely on their own. She has subordinates to take care of the jobs she's not suited for, but she is still very much in charge.
End thoughts: You have a Very interesting clan with a very deep lore! I like how much is different from dragon to dragon. It reminds me a lot of how I want my own lore to look someday haha. I'm impressed and as time passes, I'd like to see what all changes!

75 Clan Lore Questions 10/75
I felt that posting the entirety of the 75 questions would be a bit much so broke it down into more digestible parts. Here are questions 1-10. I’ll release the rest in 6 additional parts. (11-20, 21-30 etc.) Enjoy. Folks curious about Avalon will appreciate this in-depth questionnaire.
1. What Flight is your clan?
Light
2. Why did they choose this Flight?
I chose the Light Flight because I identify with the pursuit of truth and always trying to answer the question “why?”
3. Have they been loyal to other Flights before this? Or will they never move?
My progen is loyal to the Light Flight. Discussion of changing flights has been brought up but no actual action has been taken to change because at the end of the day, Light Flight is her birth flight.
4. What would be the deciding factor in a move, if the clan had to?
A major deciding factor would be if the element in question was heavily needed for the progress of the clan.
5. Is the clan spiritual and highly loyal to their deity? Are they indifferent?
The Oulisian clan is a mix of devoted Lightweaver worshippers and dragons who are indifferent to exalting and deities.
6. How does the clan view those from different Flights? Are they welcoming to all dragons, or suspicious of newcomers?
Dragons of the Avalon Light clan are welcoming to all dragons of all flights with no real exceptions other than not tolerating criminals and thieves.
7. What does your lair look like? Go into detail.
My lair is a venerable one within the Hewn City. It houses 75 dragons in total, each having their own dens and families to care for. The Avalon clan of Light prefers opulence and simplicity which is hard to achieve without going too far one way or the other. Gold and Candles are a staple in many light homes.
8. Who founded the clan?
Cerulean Aeckard of the Fishspine Reef
9. Who is your clan leader? Why are they the leader? Have there been any leadership changes? Cerulean is clan leader because she is the progenitor to my lair and I, Oulisia, founded Avalon, alongside a Plaguenist who sadly backed out of the project. I am sole founder now.
10. Was the leader chosen? Were they elected? An heir to the throne? Or maybe they achieved something within the clan? The leaders of Avalon are always handpicked and voted on by the rest of the inhabitants. The heir to the Avalon clan of Light would be the daughter of Cerulean. Dragons who display exceptional actions of selflessness and dragonitarianism will most likely be acknowledged within Avalon and given an appropriate title or role.

i don't think we're ever gonna hit critical mass impcest tbh (outside of a few specific color/gene breeding ranges at least in which case that's a problem for everyone breeding specialty dragons) i know that waaaay back in the beta days people were putting in effort to keep the breed pool diverse and now there's simply too many dragons on site for them to bottleneck
i do have mixed feelings about bringing back kickstarter items because that was a real money promise to keep those items exclusive and that'd be a bit shitty to all the people who spent upwards of 40$ on that, but also staff had no way of predicting how much the site would grow/change and many of those players are fully inactive(or even banned lmao) so access to those items is at the whims of a few dozen people at most and imp scrolls fully do not exist anymore-- wait wait a second. what do you mean "ugly handjob fist pets"?????
aaaahhg a second crowdfund for more items would be a great idea. i can understand them wanted to keep stuff like dragons/genes and lore fully in-house but it has loooooooong been a complaint that we don't have enough scenes so hiring some artist just to make a bunch would be nice. and also you know the lair banners? how anytime you're in someone's lair/profile a special flight themed banner replaces the site default. well they've been working on banners themed specifically to what you have your clan's location set at we very recently got set 3 out of a total 8 and this feature was introduced like 4 years ago. i am NEVER gonna be able to set my clan banner as Emperor's Wake like i've been dreaming 😭 do a crowdfund to get a few extra temp artists in here and finish that shit up idc how loud certain users bitch about things costing money just get it done already 😭
godspeed on finding a nice g2 imp ( ̄^ ̄ゞ none of us are ever getting a g1 imp because even if people were willing to sell most everyone used their scrolls on their progens which can NOT be traded or sold to other players those bad boys are acct locked :']
good ? news i have now achieved the nightmare scenario of having ONE of the two boss familiars from the lvl 25 trio. stone borer mantarune and fear frog. orz i never got either of the 'rillas from naturefest either so i'll have to slog thru bamboo falls again sometime soon, boo. better than having none ig but i want the chrono trigger reference familiar from fiona...pls...
