some games get it right, like breath of the wild, which went ahead and included a ton of interesting motifs and unique sounds from instruments you don't usually hear in the generic orchestral suite that other games opt for. mario odyssey is another good example, the soundtrack is very brassy and has a few different guitar types peppered throughout.

but like, it being treated as the Most Best Final Version of video game music sucks so much ass, I can't stand when a remake or remaster of an old game comes out and its just the soundtrack but so generically orchestral (let's go eevee and pikachu come to mind). I've heard it a million times before at this point. im not saying every game needs to have groundbreaking electronic music or whatever, but like there's a whole world of cool instruments and synth fonts and they're just not getting used here

remember when videogames were first able to use orchestral soundtracks, and it was the greatest thing in the world? the audio hardware in consoles was finally good enough, the industry had just gone through abother huge boom and large studios could generally afford a full orchestra, stuff like that. mario galaxy like, shattered my mind as a kid. I didnt know games could have "real" music before. now every time I hear a game has an orchestral soundtrack (often advertised as an impressive thing) it just feels cheap and im like PUT THE VIOLINS AWAY! PUT THEM AWAY!!!!! DO NOT FUCKING TOUCH THE VIOLINS PUT THOSE WOODEN BEASTS DOWN!!!!!!!!

Meant to put this up yesterday but got caught up. Still tryna' get this man to take new pics with me, so until then, I gotta' make do with this same pic every year lol.
