Had a great time completing the @runrocknroll Nashville race (1/2 marathon) yesterday. Half marathon number 108 completed and my second time doing this race. Got to experience the #nfldraft2019 up close. Made some reconnections with friends who are now family. Sorry @sfjen2902 I cut your face off. Loved spending time on the course with #fellowprocompressionambassador @avamirk who did indeed #petallthedogs I recommend this race to anyone who wants to visit #nashville and enjoy this beautiful state. The crowd support is so fun. Away with New Years resolutions

I don’t know about you guys but I am more than ready to kick the New Year’s Eve resolution thing to the curb. It’s a ridiculous “tradition” that next to no one finds any benefit. Just another reason for you to find yourself at the end of the next year and realise that you’ve barely even scratched the surface of what you were planning on doing. Who needs that kind of demotivation when you are about to head into the next year of your life? I’d rather spend that time reflecting on everything that has happened in the last year. 2017 was a bitch but then again so have the last few years before it. But hey! Still alive suckers!! And this upcoming year will probably still be a tough one. But you know, for once in my life I think I’m ok with that. Enough of saying that this year is gonna be MY year. Each year is already your year, it’s only your perception of it that changes. Granted it may have been the worst year of your life but hey it’s still yours. No year is ever going to be perfect no matter how much we try to delude ourselves. You have to work with what you’ve got and that’s really all that matters. So whether you are looking towards this new year with excitement or apprehension, this life is yours and yours only to live. Don’t dread the past learn from it. Don’t fear the future embrace it. Not as easy as it sounds I know I’m trying to convince myself of this first and foremost.

It’s easy to sit behind a screen and write motivational posts and quotes while not meaning or believing a single word. You write it down with the intention of uplifting others but really it’s yourself you are trying to convince. The screen may serve as a great temporary mask but we all have to face the music sooner or later. This year I hope to live a little more, yes the cheesy line since we’re always living technically speaking. But what I mean is I hope to live out my thoughts, hopes and dreams. To spend less time cooped up in my own head dreaming of what could be. To learn to be more spontaneous and spend less time saying I wish I could do that or would be fun if that could happen. In the past year I’ve been trying hard to finally do things I’d been meaning to do for a long time. Like this page for example. I also got myself a guitar and the circular knitting needles I’d been wanting for a while. Silly things maybe but that brought me a sense of accomplishment small as it may be. It’s by staring small that you gain the confidence to reach for bigger things. Baby steps, skipping stones, just one foot in front of the other. No need to compare yourself with how far or how fast others are going because your pace is your own and this race is your own.

So my New Year’s resolutions? Thanks for asking but real life needs me and it also needs you.
