picdump from last night's annual @bigmavericks #napavalley #bottleshare ... WOTN for me was 88 @springmountainvineyard followed closely by the 91 @caymuscab SS. The 97 Unfiltered was interesting, considering it was easily the most supermarket pedestrian wine here. The progression in @closduval 74-08-16 was pretty shocking, @redcapvineyards represented Howell mountain I'm pretty sure exclusively and did so with its usual aplomb. 92 #riesling was FIRE and a @sommselect offering. The @arcadian_winery had to share the spotlight with an @anthillfarms as the only two pinots present, and the @qupewine was the sole syrah and really stood out in this lineup of almost solid #napacab and then somebody snuck in with a #pasocab from @dustynaborwines .... this is definitely a time when you need more than 10 photos on Instagram. Quem já provou este clássico americano? 🇺🇸🍷 . Um dos mais famosos vinhos do Napa Valley, na Califórnia, este “Cabernet Sauvignon 2014” da @StagsLeapWinery na verdade leva “apenas” 86% Cabernet Sauvignon. O restante do blend é 6% Malbec, 4% Merlot, 2% Petite Sirah e 2% Petit Verdot. . O vinho, depois de pronto, passa 20 meses em carvalho francês, sendo apenas 37% em barricas novas. . Deixamos aerando no decanter por cerca de 1 hora... . Na taça tinha coloração rubi intensa. Aromas de frutas negras, mentol, especiarias (canela) e chocolate. Na boca, corpo médio, acidez média-alta e taninos macios de moderada intensidade. Muita fruta negra e algum herbáceo, com média persistência. . Um belo vinho! Frutado, equilibrado, mas um pouco austero. O tempo no decanter ajudou a “amansar” os taninos, mas o vinho certamente precisa de mais alguns anos de adega para evoluir. 90+ pontos. . . ”I like big [bottles] and I cannot lie!” Last Saturday we had a blowout birthday bash (not mine) that included numerous outstanding wines in large format (only several of which are depicted). The Imperial (6L) of 79 Mondavi Napa Cabernet dwarfed the other big bottles and was drinking like a champ! Veuve Clicquot was well represented with a magnum of 96 rose and a 3-liter of La Grande Dame, both of which were incredibly fresh and vibrant! Um tinto incrível! “Corte bordalês” com 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot e 1% Cabernet Franc, com estágio de 16 meses em barricas de carvalho francês e da Europa oriental, 27% novas. . A safra 2014 foi excelente, e o vinho resultante é intenso e longevo, podendo evoluir por muitos anos. Para a degustação, precisou de cerca de 1 hora no decanter pra abrir os aromas. . Na taça, coloração rubi de média intensidade. Aromas de fruta negra madura, um leve herbáceo, alguma especiaria e baunilha, que evoluiu com doçura e aroma de melaço de cana. Na boca é bem equilibrado: tem corpo médio, acidez moderada e taninos macios de moderada intensidade. Longa persistência com aromas de pimenta e fruta vermelha. . Belíssimo vinho!
