These days I’m combing wool. I always wanted to get into the roots of yarn making and now it’s the time! 

Combing wool is a long and meditative process that can be easily included in  daily routine.In the beginning it was hard to find wool combs.There were long extinct in Turkey. Only in remote villages this process is still practiced.While I was searching where to find a Turkish spindle, I came across @davarpeyniri in instagram. He makes wooden wool combs and spindles. We quickly became friends and made a barter.I made him  a backstrap woven belt and a keychain and he made me wool combs and a Turkish spindle.He also sent me washed yarn to practice my combing and spinning. I’m very greatful that I found a skillful and a generous person like him.

So I started combing wool! My cat Misket loves raw wool.He takes his noon nap in my yarn basket.

Bu günlerde yün tarıyorum. Hep yün ip yapımının köklerine inmek istemiştim,işte zamanı geldi!

Yün taramak meditasyon yapmak gibi, hemen günlük rutine dahil edilmemesi mümkün değil! Başta yün tarağı bulmak çok zordu.Nereden nasıl bulacağımı bilemiyordum. Derken instagram’da @davarpeyniri ‘ne rastladım. Mersin’deki atölyesinde yün tarakları ve kirmanlar yapıyor. Hemen arkadaş olduk ve bir takas yaptık.Ben ona kolan dokuma bir kemer ve anahtarlık yaptım, o da bana yün tarağı ve kirman yaptı. Bir de bana yıkanmış yün yolladı ki hemen taramaya ve eğirmeye başlayabileyim. Kendisine ne kadar teşekkür etsem az gelir!

Ve işte böyle yün taramaya başladım.Kedimiz Misket ham yünü çok seviyor.Öğle uykularını yün sepetinde geçiriyor!
