Annon-Guy: How often did lagging mess up your matches online?

Also when you try to rematch guys, does it anger you when they choose to bail after beating you?

Lag often has more to do with region differences than connection stability, though sometimes the weather can affect it.

My overall experience with lag is to maintain a defensive position in matches with heavy lag so as to avoid fewer mistakes. Jump blocking has saved me many a time in lag, otherwise use projectiles to give yourself breathing space.

Hit and run players are annoying, so finding regular rivals is more important. Most players quit sets either because they want to dwell on their victory or because the matchup wasn’t in their favor, or simply have trouble with lag against you in particular.

Like I said previously, finding regular opponents or even just a circle of friends to play with will teach you a lot.

some behind the scenes from my yard animatic 🎞

so i've wanted to animate the yard's swatting story ever since they told it, which meant that i already had a bunch of ideas in the cranium when i began this project. after my initial storyboard, i wrote a couple pages planning each shot and how many frames every action should take (the first photo is one of those pages).

the panels are all drawn on printer paper and lined in ballpoint pen, because there are over EIGHTY of them across ~11 pages and hell if i was going to use up a good pen on this project.

here's an example of one full page. this was probably the most animated part of the whole video, since there are very few other pages that are occupied by a single shot (haha "shot").

the note across 53-55 reading "devolve" was a reminder to make the lining and coloring get messier/ more jittery as he falls.

and fun fact, the gore textures are almost entirely photos of butchered cows.

I cannot stop this Zelda kick. I beat Wind Waker, did OoT 100%, did Oracle of Ages 100% (unlinked), and now I’m almost done with Oracle of Seasons 100% (linked) and I’m already thinking of doing another ALttP 100% playthrough.

It frustrates me that we still live in a world where people are NOT mature.

Like, when you play a fighting game "online", you expect to be able to just pick up the game and play someone... but no, that's not the case.

People discriminate, they judge, and they pass judgement and all because they make assumptions about what kind of person you are.

I "tried" to play some Guilty Gear Strive this morning with my Level 35 Bedman... and nobody would give me the time of day for the better part of an hour... I'd sit there in the Tower, and anyone who ran in to me would refuse to fight me or walk away on the assumption that I was unskilled.

It's not even an issue of Internet Connection Stability, since I already set the region to be my own... People just want to either continue their win count, or only fight players with high stats to 'break' their own win count.

And the minute I win? They quit and play someone else.

Ishiwatari probably did NOT anticipate human nature on this scale when he dreamed for a world where fighting games could CONNECT PEOPLE.

And people throw a FIT because their Level 2,000+ character lost to a Level 35 character that just started playing online...

Playing people is supposed to be fun... it isn't supposed to be an EGO check. I'm not here to stroke your EGO... I'm not here to increase your win count.

I'm here to show people how I play and how I live my life. Proof that I exist as a gamer.
