nearly finished the first maze runner book and … newt my beloved …
He started to turn around, but Thomas reached out and grabbed him. “You’ve gotta believe me, Newt. It’s the only way out of here - we can do it, I swear. We’re meant to.”
Newt got in his face and spoke in an angry rasp of a whisper. “Yeah, I especially loved the bit where you volunteered to get yourself killed.”
so many of the keepers hated his idea, and thomas thought that this was the best way to convince them … but no thomas is dying on newt’s watch 🥺🥺🥺
not to mention newt is one of the only ones to truly think thomas is a good guy. he instills in the keepers that thomas (and teresa) aren’t to blame - that the creators forced them to do this - and he even tries to wash away thomas’ own guilt. he truly trusts thomas no matter what happened in the past 🥺🥺🥺

Hey hi hello!! I'm back😀 And was wondering if you could have the time to do a Minho fic where they reunited at safe haven (newt lives, chuck lives bc I said so😼jk) and they aren't used to as.. modern stuff? Like actual beds, bathrooms, and such?
(if ur able to, I wouldn't mind some spic😼)
Thank you!!
SUMMARY: A sunny afternoon in the same haven turned into something completely different when you saw your friends come back, Minho with them.
WC: 1,9k
A/N: YES YES YES, that’s so cute and I literally had something like that in my drafts and that was my motivation to publish it. You always serve with your reqs 🫨 I love making Minho a sweetheart in my fics because ik for a fact that under all that sass is a hurt little boy. So sorry you had to wait this long.
WARNINGS: SMUT, not protected piv (wrap it before you tap it), lonnnngg intro. MDNI!! YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN MEDIA CONSUMPTION.

I MISSED YOU
After the failed attempt of rescuing Minho on the train, all your hopes flew away. You were desperate to find him again, yet you knew the chances were low. Wicked controlled everything and unless they caught you too, Minho was already far from you.
You helped Sonya and Aris get over their capture, Harriet and Chuck with you, but it just felt wrong to do it without Minho. Thomas was desperate too, but not the same as you. He knew they could save Minho, he believed that there was still hope for him.
So when he told you he was going to leave with Newt and Fry, you hesitated a long time before refusing. If they came back with Minho, it would be great, but if they were to find his dead body, you didn’t want to be there.
The night they decided to rescue him, you couldn’t sleep and so did Brenda and Jorge who joined them later on. Weeks passed and still, you got no idea if they had found something. Jorge shared a talkie-walkie with Vince in the safe haven to inform him whenever something was wrong.
Yet, what Vince knew was kept a secret from you and all the other immunes. He would sometimes go in the opposite direction as you because he knew that if you begged long enough you would get the information you craved for and that, he couldn’t give you.
His job was to make sure everyone here felt safe, and after his loss of Mary, he didn’t want to give away any information.
One night, you were staring at the sundown through the beach. Your thoughts confused with one another, but that’s when he arrived next to you with a concerned expression clear on his face.
"Newt’s injured." He told you and that’s what caused you to jump in the berg to the last city. You didn’t know what caused it, but you knew it was about him not being Immune. Chuck stayed here, uninformed of the danger his friend was in.
You flew so fast that soon enough, you found all your friends lying around a lifeless Newt, a knife in his chest. The questions you had all came flooding down when you saw Minho. He was alive, not looking very well, but he was there and crying over his friend.
You ran out of the berg as they looked at you, a shy smile came across their lips as they saw you for the first time in weeks. And Minho didn’t even move, his friend died, or so he thought.
You crouched to his side and that’s when he noticed you. After being tortured for months, he saw his light, the person that helped him stay sane. When he was in pain, he thought of you. Your hair and your face, your arms around his, your fingers linked with yours.
"Minho..." You whispered falling into his arms as you both stayed there, looking at your Newt. The Asian had just got out of the building, only to see his friend turn into a crank, to meet again with Gally and You.
You did know Gally was still alive because when Thomas found out, he let Vince know, who told you. You never truly liked or disliked him, all you knew was that he made some bad choices, but that couldn’t define someone.
No one spoke for what seemed like an eternity before Jorge let out a sigh. "We need to go, Thomas’s in pretty good shit."
"We can’t leave him here!" You let out, talking of the British boy.
"Just take him in." Vince declared and you did with the help of Fry and Minho.
A flicker of hope grew when you remembered Teresa’s message through the city. How his blood was the cure, how he could have saved Newt. But maybe, he did. The knife had Thomas’s on it before it crashed into Newt’s abdomen.
You kept your thoughts to yourself, hoping they would turn out to be true.
Helping Thomas out of that burning building wasn’t easy and it led to the sacrifice of Teresa. The last time you saw her was during her betrayal, not the best memories you had.
Thomas was bloody and dripping from sweat as he fell unconscious in the berg. You were silent as you stared at the ground among the chatter of other people. Minho sat next to you, sharing the silence.
"Where are we going? The right harm burned." He wondered, looking into your teary eyes.
"Safe Haven" a low chuckle escaped your lips, "Vince made it, we helped him."
A week passed since you rescued Minho. You showed him your little hut that some people had earned, others had hammock. It reminded you a lot of the Glade, but this time you were free and you weren’t tested for your blood.
Your prediction was right, Newt did survive. He got out of his crank state with the cure, Thomas’s blood. The knife had apparently both their blood on it, making the blonde stay alive. He was so confused the first days. that Thomas would spend all his time telling him what happened, what he missed and sometimes not telling the part where he almost killed him.
The boy healed slowly, but he would probably get heart problems for the rest of his life. He couldn’t do instance activities, in the prevent of it beating too fast for what he could handle. Yet he was always smiling, Thomas probably the cause of it. Not gonna lie, you always thought they were great together.
On a sunny afternoon, you walked back to your favourite spot in the safe haven one where you were sure to be left alone, but Minho found you anyway.
"I really missed you." You told him, changing your gaze from the sea to him. He looked so peaceful with his hair still wet and his blue-collar shirt. With all the torture he went through and the trauma he suffered with it, he gained some weight. Yet, it could only make you love him more. He didn’t have to run as much as he used to, but he sometimes went anyway just because he missed the feeling.
You said you would go on a run with him one day, but not if it was to be humiliated because you were so slow compared to him. "I missed Chuck more." He joked with a chuckle.
You gave him a gentle punch on the shoulder. "Hey." You faked to be hurt, making him smile. He kept the look in his eyes as he stared at your lips and the soft smile on them. "So really what’s this Safe Haven all about?" He asked.
"Rescuing Immunes kids, building our own home away from the rest of the world. While the rest of the world is in catastrophe, at least we’re all here together."
"I guess so." He simply nodded. It was clear that there was something he wasn’t telling you, but you wouldn’t go digging for it. He’d always needed time for himself, hiding under his sassy attitude.
"You know, I really wanted to go with the others to look out for you, I did." You let out a deep sigh as he looked at you with a look you’d never seen before.
"But I was scared, scared of what I would have found if you didn’t make it. I was terrified of losing you and if I did, I didn’t want to see it. I wanted to remember only the good times in the glades, not when you got kidnapped-"
He cut you off even if there were so many more things to say. His hand took yours and gripped it firmly in a strong and comforting hold.
"It doesn’t matter now, we’re both safe here with everyone. Look at Thomas and Newt, they’ve never been happier. Frypan still has his cooking skills and Gally his alcohol recipe. Chuck’s always smiling while Brenda and Jorge act as the babysitter."
He stopped his words to bring his other hand to your cheeks, cupping it softly and holding you closer.
"And you and me, we’re gonna be there for each other no matter what shuckface." You let out a chuckle at the nickname, earning a smile.
"You and me." You nodded before closing the gap between your lips, taking your hand to his hair only you could touch.
The kiss was gentle as from time to time you would smile against his lips. His mouth was warm and his skin got goosebumps every time your fingers brushed his jaw. His free hand, which used to spread his thigh raised to meet your hips, holding it firmly.
Your other hands were still closed together as he brushed his thumb against your knuckles. You were hidden in a place on the beach only you knew about, so the luck of someone seeking you both was low.
A soft giggle passed past your teeth as he placed you in his lap with his two hands now travelling up your back over your shirt. You felt something hardening under your thigh and you couldn’t help but smile at the effect you had on him.
Minho let out a small gasp as you instantly pressed against his hardening cock, teasing his limits. "You want to play this game shuckface, huh?"
He expertly twisted you around so that your back lay in the sand, his figure against you. He buried his face in the crook of your next, leaving sweet kisses along your pulse point and sucking at it. A soft moan parted from your lips as you gripped his back tighter.
"Minho.."Your breathing was coming out harshly when his hands travelled up your stomach, under your shirt, and reached your breast. Underwears were rare in the Safe Haven so he was glad to find you weren’t wearing a bra.
"All for me huh?" In a swift motion, he took your clothes over your shoulder, drinking at the sight of your exposed skin. His thumbs explored them both, pressing a hard but gentle squeeze with his hands.
You let out a soft moan as you gripped his shoulder, digging your nails into his neck. You brought him closer, before kissing him passionately again.
"So needy."
He added and soon his shirt lay with yours. His kisses continue their assaults on your lips, going down your neck to your belly button. A soft giggle passed past your lips as you got a tickle.
He played with the waistband of your jeans, ready to tear them aside as he waited for your approval. "You sure you want this dollface?"
"Please… Wanna see you all."
He smirked and expertly unzipped the zip of your bottom. As soon as they were past your toes, he spotted the wet spot on your cunt. No underwear again.
"God, you’re so pretty."
You let out a sigh of relief when his nose inhaled your scent. You clung to his hair, wanting him closer, wanting his body against yours.
He stood up before taking his pants off, with his boxer. Minho would find a way to always have underwear anyway, he couldn’t imagine running without any. Ew.
"Spread wide." He requested and you did so. You were answered by his hard member folding you open. You were confused with both pain and pleasure.
"Atta girl."
As he knocked the stars out of you, you let out a deep sigh when he hit that spongy spot again. You knew you were in for a long time.

Later at night Gally and Thomas were going to get Teresa while we waited. When they get back we all, me, Newt, Fry, Brenda, Jorge, Gall, Thomas, and Teresa all sit in a room.
"Gally?" She says as the sack comes off her head.
"Here's how this is gonna go. We're gonna ask you some questions, and you're gonna tell us exactly what we need to know. We'll start off simple. Where's Minho?" Gally grabs a chair to sit in front of her.
"You guys don't seriously think..." She looks at Thomas.
"Don't look at him. Why are you looking at him? Don't look at him. Look at me. He's not gonna help you. Now, we know you have Minho in the building. Where?" Gally sits down in front of her.
"He's with the others in holding. Sublevel three." She tells him.
"How many others?" Newt asks her.
"28." She sighs and we look over at Brenda.
"I can make that work." She tells us.
"No. No, you guys don't understand. The whole level's restricted. You can't get in without a thumbprint ID." Teresa tells us.
"That's why you're gonna come with us." Thomas tells her.
"Well, I don't know. We don't necessarily need her. Right? Not all of her. We just need her finger." Gally gets up but I knew that was too much.
"Gally, back off." I calmly tell him.
"What, are you squeamish? I guarantee you she's done a lot worse to Minho." He points at her.
"That's not the plan. Back off." Thomas gets up.
"It won't make a difference. Do whatever you want to me. You still won't get through the front door. The sensors will pick you up the..." Thomas cuts her off. "
"We know. We're tagged. Property of Wicked. You're gonna help us with that, too." Thomas gives her the scalpel.
"Who wants to go first?" Newt asks as we all look at her.
"I'll go first." I take the seat in front of her.
"How does it feel seeing Gally again?" She asks messing with my neck.
"Good. I missed him. Will you just hurry please? Sorta don't wanna have a conversation with you." I'm straight up with her.
"I'm sorry about your mom. I didn't kn-," She says as she finishes but I cut her off.
"Don't. Because you're the reason she's dead. You didn't pull the trigger but you helped in the situation because you called them. I'll never forgive you. And on top of that, I'm sure you, Wicked, have done terrible shit to Minho." I get up up from the chair leaving her and Gally takes the seat next.
"She enjoyed that." Gally says making Fry and me laugh.
"You're probably right." Fry tells him.
"Here see if these fit." Newt gives us Wicked soldiers uniforms.
"Thanks Newt." We tell him.
As we get things ready I eavesdrop on Thomas and Teresa, "She should have turned by now. There's no way she could possibly still..." I'm sure she was talking about Brenda. "You do t believe me?" She follows him as he stands up.
"Do you really expect me to? You made your choice." Thomas tells her as Gally goes to check on them then takes Teresa out so I go with them.
-
"You were in love with her, weren't you?" Brenda asks Thomas as he joins her side.
"No. It was someone I was close with and that was a good friend but got backstabbed." Thomas explains to her.
"Just be careful. You sort of have this problem where you can't walk away from people. Even when you should. You can't save everyone, Thomas." Brenda hands him the gun.
"I can try." He tells her.
"Are you in love with Liz?" She asks him walking away some then turns to face him.
"Yes." He nods his head.
"You should tell her as soon as you can. Don't wait for everything to be over because she'll think you don't actually care about her that way. Plus Gally is an ex she'll always have a special place in her heart for because he was her first boyfriend and first love she can fully remember. If y'all truly had something before the maze, it doesn't matter if she can't remember it. Don't waste time." Brenda tells him so he'll think about as she leaves.
As Thomas joins the group he walks straight up to Elizabeth giving her a passionate kiss. "I love you. I know I should tell you that now and not wait." He explains to her so she laughs at him.
"She loves you too, trust me, but we gotta get going." Gally tells Thomas making Elizabeth hit him.
"Gally's right so let's go." She gives Thomas a smile.
"Which part?" Thomas wants to be sure.
"Both Thomas so let's go get Minho." She walks ahead of the group.
"Say it at least." He grabs her hand.
"I love you too." She pats his chest before climbing down into the hole.
Back in the city Elizabeth splits off with Gally and follow behind him till they meet up with the other three. "Hold on. Hold on. I can get in here." Gally stops as they get in the stairwell.
"Stay there. Throw me the walkie." Thomas says then goes to check the rest of the stairs as Newt starts to cough.
Elizabeth starts to get worried walking over to him placing her hand on his back and sees Teresa staring at him. "Don't you start to cry on me." He looks her in the eyes.
"Frypan, we're in. How you doing?" Thomas walks around. "Hang in there, buddy." He tells Newt while Liz stays close to him.
"This'll work." Gally tells Thomas.
"Brenda, what's your status?" He asks her.
"All right, let's go." Gally tells them.
When we get to the room the four of us shoot at the soldiers taking them out. "It's okay. You guys are okay. Come on." Elizabeth opens one of the door helping the kids out.
"The vault. How do I get in?" Gally asks and the guy said he can't. "Guys, this might take some time." Gally tells the group and Liz sees Minho still wasn't here.
"Shit. He's not here. Where is he?" Elizabeth tells them going up to Teresa so she looks on the computer.
"Somebody's moved him up to the medical wing. Thomas, that's on the other side of the building." She tells her and the guys.
"Okay, take us to him. Right now." Elizabeth tells her.
"All right. I'm coming with you." Newt grabs his things.
"Newt, no, you're not. You have to stay here, wait with Gally for the serum." Thomas tells him and Elizabeth agrees.
"Minho comes first, remember?" Newt tells them and they hate that deep down.
"Just go. We're wasting time. I'll get the serum. We'll meet you out back." Gally tells them.
"Okay, fine. Let's go. Come on." Thomas gets Teresa.
The three put their masks on and follow Teresa through the building. As they get into the elevator Janson stops the door getting in with them. It takes everything in Elizabeth not to shoot him right then and there.
"You're working late." Janson looks at Teresa. "See, that's what I like about you, Teresa. No matter how bleak things get, you just... Well, you never give up. Times like this, you need a friend that you can count on." He tells her.
"I'll bare that in mind." Teresa finally speaks up.
"There is one thing you should know. One friend to another. Thomas is here." Janson says making the three slightly look at each other. "A surveillance picked him up outside the walls. Ava didn't want you to know it but there is a chance that he may try to contact you... and if he does... we'll, I'd like to think that I'd be your first call." Janson explains to her.
"Are you going to kill him?" Teresa ask looking at him.
"Would that be a problem?" Janson asks before they all get out of the elevator.
"Thomas you have to listen to me. Getting that serum won't save Newt. It might by him time, but..." Newt cuts her off.
"Just ignore her. She's trying to get inside your head." Newt grabs her.
"Thomas, listen. You know what's going on out there. People are dying. The world is dying. There's something about your blood I don't understand." Teresa says and Elizabeth starts to think about it. She had a point because Brenda has been completely fine for months.
"Let me run some test. I promise I can protect you." Teresa tells him.
"Yeah? Like you protected Minho?" Thomas takes off his mask making Newt and Liz ask him what the heck.
"How many people is it gonna take? How many more people do they have to round up, torture, kill? When the hell does it stop?" Thomas gets in her face.
"It stops when we find a cure." She tells him.
"There is no goddamn cure!" Thomas shouts at her.
"Thomas, there actually might me... Brenda hasn't ha-," He cuts Elizabeth off.
"You're letting her in your head."

DECEMBER HAD FINALLY ARRIVED. The month you always anticipated and loved so much when it finally came around, and now you couldn’t bring yourself to admire it. The cold always used to feel so nice when you were bundled up in jackets, walking through the streets to reach the subway and get home from school.
You thought that Woodstock would look pretty covered in snow and twinkling with Christmas lights. Of course, you were proven right, but you didn’t have the strength to admire it. Because how could you admire something so joyful when you didn’t have any joy for yourself?
The snow that almost constantly covered the ground started the day after the party, as if the weather was being sympathetic to how you felt. When you’d gotten up that morning, the ache in your chest felt like a void, a gaping hole that swallowed up your happiness. The first thing you did was fold up Newt’s jacket, tucking it away in the closet. You didn’t know if he would come by to get it, if you’d have to bring it to him, or if he would ever actually get it back. If he even wanted it anymore.
A cold chill and an even colder silence blanketed the house from then on out. You refused to even look at Thomas, and he was always trying to talk to you, but after a while, he stopped trying, too. Your dad and Maggie were still okay, but the worry and concern rolled off them in waves so strong that you could barely be around them either. Chuck was the only person who still persisted, distracting you with movies and games. Thank God for that kid, because the silence was suffocating, and he was the only one in the house that didn’t have that shine of pity in his eyes when he looked at you.
You did your best to block the thoughts about it from your mind. Thinking about it only made the ache worse, because the group that once welcomed you with open arms and made you feel like part of a family was shattered, and part of it was because of you. Thomas and Teresa stuck together, Newt had wandered off on his own, opting to spend his time with Frypan, and Brenda was determined to not leave your side. She was one of many witnesses that night and believes that both boys had overreacted and that you didn’t deserve any of what happened.
Minho and Gally were bouncing between everyone. Some days, they’d hang out with Thomas and Teresa, other days it’d be with you and Brenda or Newt. Sonya and Harriet stopped by to talk during lunch or after school, but for the most part, they had gone off on their own, too.
You stopped sitting beside Newt in class. Brenda had forced whoever was sitting next to her in every one of her classes to swap with you, giving you whatever little peace of mind came from sitting across the classroom from him. And despite the cold weather, you stopped going to school with Thomas. You’d rather walk in the cold than drive with him and Teresa every day.
Everything felt like too much. The aching pressure of dealing with your emotions and what happened was too much on its own, but now you were being pressured into figuring out what college or university you wanted to go to. The only saving grace - though it didn’t feel like one, only the reminder of what your life used to feel like - was that Brenda still took you to Mickey’s on Fridays. It didn’t do much. The food tasted too much like regret, and reminded you too much of the night you and Newt spent by the willow tree.
The willow tree, where you opened up to Newt, the first person you felt you could truly talk to about anything since Grace and Valerie. But even then, you told him things that you couldn’t bring yourself to tell them.
You wished you could get rid of every little painful reminder. To move back to the city, back to the floor-to-ceiling windows you grew up in. To have sleepovers with Grace and Valerie, eat frozen yogurt, and toss bits of pizza at the pigeons that scattered the park. But even now, the city and all the things you used to do there were tainted with the memory of Newt.
There was nothing you could do. You just had to live with it and hope that the pain went away someday soon, that you could get back to how things used to be, if that was even possible.

Sitting at the kitchen table, you took the time to appreciate the quiet of the house. It was Saturday, and although you wanted to be sleeping in, you settled for the ocean of confusing papers in front of you. You didn’t think anyone else would be awake yet, since the sun was barely rising.
Even though you had no idea what you wanted to actually do with your life after high school, college applications were a must. If anything, you’d figure out what to do once you got accepted somewhere, right?
You lifted a mug of coffee - the mug your grandmother bought for you - up to your lips as the sound of feet shuffling down the hallway caught your attention. Looking over your shoulder, you spotted your dad making his way into the kitchen with the worst bedhead you’ve ever seen.
“Whatcha doin’?” He asked, voice grating from lack of use.
You sighed, diverting your gaze to the papers below you. “College applications,”
Nodding, your dad came to stand beside you, now sporting his own cup of coffee. “Where were you thinking of going?”
“I dunno.” You shrugged, picking up a piece of paper to inspect it. “Maybe Syracuse? They’ve got some good programs.”
“I thought you and your friends - the girls, I thought you guys were gonna go to NYU together?” He pondered.
“That was when I didn’t have to worry about dorm prices,” you reminded him. “But it’s not like that really matters anymore, does it? No matter where I go, I’m gonna have to pay for accommodation.”
Taking a sip of his coffee, your dad put his hand on your shoulder, squeezing it reassuringly. “Don’t worry, kiddo. We can cover it no matter where you go, okay? Hell, if you wanna run off to Australia for school, we can deal with it.”
You couldn’t help but smile as you looked up at him. “Thanks, dad.”
“No worries, kiddo. We’ve got this.” With that, he pressed a kiss to the top of your head and headed to his office, shutting the door behind him.

School never felt so lonely. Even with Brenda by your side, attempting to distract you with whatever topic came to mind, it felt a whole lot emptier. You’d both stopped eating lunch in the cafeteria. Everyone else still did, though Newt and Frypan sat in the corner, and Thomas, Teresa, and whoever was eating with them that day sat at their regular table.
You didn’t participate in class, and it was clear to everyone that hadn’t been at the party that something was wrong, but in all honesty, you didn’t care anymore. Your old school allowed you the privacy of large class sizes to be able to stop participating and not have anyone really notice, but here, you were out in the open. It all just felt like it took up too much energy. Energy that you didn’t have, even if you slept for ten hours every day.
You’d even stopped doing your homework, opting to clear the snow off the porch roof and sit there every night, staring up at the sky until your fingers went numb or more snow began to fall. Every time you crossed the threshold, you passed your desk and everything on it. The wall behind it was decorated with the drawings Valerie gave you, sticky notes with reminders scrawled on them that you no longer needed, and the photo strip. The photo strip from your trip to the city with Newt. You could barely stand to look at it.
Everything around you was a reminder, even after it had all fallen apart, and it felt like the weight of the world was resting on your shoulders. What you wouldn’t give to let someone else take over.

tw // newt’s suicide attempt
im a firm believer that they should have kept the deleted scene in the death cure where newt tells thomas about how he broke his leg and heres a conglomeration of reasons why.
1. it emphasizes the bond between newt and minho. it reminds the viewers that newt and minho had years of friendship that they spent together before thomas arrived. it reminds us that there is so much that those two have been through together that we will never truly understand. it reminds the viewers that newt and minho have already sacrificed and risked so much for each other. throughout the movies, thomas’s story is the one that is most emphasized. here we are given a reminder that there was so much that happened to the characters we love before thomas was a part of their story.
2. emphasizes the bond between newt and minho part 2. we remember from the first movie that it’s against the rules to go and look for people who are lost in the maze. not worth the risk. newt’s not stupid, he wouldn't do it in a location where he knows minho would find him easily, he was a runner once, he knows the maze and he probably knows where minho is going to go. but somehow, against all odds, minho found him and brought him back to the glade, and definitely risked ending up stuck there after the doors closed in the process. minho risked everything for newt that day, and newt is more than willing to return the favor.
3. emphasizes the bond between newt and minho part 3. here we see newt, revealing that he has a disease that cannot be cured, or so we think. he knows that resting and not going on the mission will most likely buy him some time. that’s how biology works, when you’re sick the first thing you’re told to do is rest. but he still says that minho comes first, minho is the top priority. he knows he’s probably going to die saving minho but to him its worth it because there is nothing more important to him than making sure minho is safe. he has an idea of what he is going to have to endure and he thinks its okay as long as minho is safe in the end. the idea that there’s no greater love than to give up one’s life for a friend is not a new idea, and that’s exactly what newt is doing here.
4. digs deeper into newt’s struggles. we dont know much about newt’s backstory before thomas. at first glance it seems that living in the glade would be a peaceful life, but it’s clear that it was not. there was death and pain that teenagers should never be made to endure. depression is something newt has been struggling with for years, and so far it’s only been hinted at. in learning about this we get a better glimpse into newt’s true strength, we see that hes been through all of this and even tried to end it all and yet he’s still here, he’s still alive after all of that, he survived. it leaves the viewers thinking about all the shit hes been through, and after all of that he is still one of the last ones standing. he survived the maze and the scorch and it wasn’t easy. it also shows his development, and how much he had worked to recover. in a scorch trials deleted scene he tells thomas he won’t let him give up, there’s a reason to keep going and there’s a place for all of them out there somewhere. we can see that newt once was on the other side of that conversation. he didn’t see a way out once, but he got out and was able to give that hope that you can get out and it does get better to the people he loves
5. emphasizes how horrible wckds trials are and the importance of getting minho out of there. minho went through the same trials newt did, newt knows hes tired. newt knows that the last thing minho wanted was to end up back there. he knows that was minho’s worst fear. he knows that whatever minho is going through is more horrible than he can imagine. and that’s something he can understand.

I believe the witch reader concept started here
Watching what would have been her brother-in-law’s death was mortifying. Tommy sent her to watch over his cousin and brother, her secret no longer a secret helping him in his decision making, and she soon agreed with his point. His original concern had to do with the black hands, hers now related to the uneasiness her gut held. It was too...weird.
Nothing was “normal” in her life, but this was a different kind of peculiar. This was an evil kind of peculiar.
Like time was moving in slow motion, her head whipped around to spot a gun beginning to rise. It was all the time she needed to simply whip out her wand and apparate in front of John then grab him and Michael and apparate out of the way. Esme was already out of their line of fire, so she was safe and didn’t require saving. The gypsy woman watched her sister-in-law with wide eyes that contained a pleasant mix of horror and awe. Y/n grinned before ducking down to dodge a bullet that flew at her head.
The bullet she dodged had just slightly grazed John’s shoulder. It still caught him off guard enough to cause panic to emit from his mouth. A loud cry rang through Y/n’s ears and summoned a beast inside her, one Newt had yet to discover. Her wizard friend was too far away to make the discovery now though.
“Arresto momentum!” Her spell made the unrealistic rate of speed real. Time really was moving in slow motion. She watched as every bullet moved slower than a sloth. The Shelbys, and Gray, behind her held three equal doses of confusion but their amusement was fleeting
The thing was, she wasn’t done yet. A darkness clouded her eyes.
Of course, Esme had been filled in on the different spells and what they could do, Tommy and the rest of the family as well, but Esme was the most observant involving the craft. She felt her skin pale and her heart drop to her stomach when she realized what was going to happen next. Tempted to reach out for her sister in law, had she not held back by her husband, she screamed.
“Don’t do it! It’s not worth it, there are different ways! Muggle ways!”
“What are you talking about, Esme?” John narrowed his eyes at his wife.
She turned to her husband with an urgent pleading expression. “Remember? The unforgivable curses, dumbass!” Esme swatted at him but quickly gave up. She was wasting time. “Y/n said that witches and wizards usually are corrupted by the fuckin’ dark curses! She swore to never take part in them!”
John gulped. He developed Esme’s fearful exterior within seconds, exchanging glances with Michael and then running at the same time as his cousin to Y/n.
“What the hell are you doing!? Get off!” She tried to nudge Michael away softly, but his grip on her wand wielding wrist never relented. “Don’t make me do this.” A sincere warning that he ignored yet again. Her other hand grabbed the wand and aimed it towards Michael, “Depulso!”
Michael began moving backwards. He looked to John with a stern nod of his head. They would do everything in their power to prevent Y/n from losing her innocence in her magic. However, Y/n was quick to spot him, flipping her aim as she shouted, “Depulso!”
Fortunately, John observed her when she did the same to Michael. He dodged it and continued pacing forward. Every shout of the spell he managed to just barely miss. Unfortunately, Y/n had now observed John.
“Incarcerous!” Ropes flew at the blinder and tied with unimaginable strength. He was left tied up and shouting, no way to stop Y/n. The shouts only quieted for a moment. A moment in which Y/n gave John a soft empathetic look before turning and following through with her plan. The look told him wordlessly that this was the only way. To trust her.
“Expelliarmus!” The guns flew in every which way, the slow motion’s affect drawing out a small snicker from John. Which elicited a glare from Esme.
The slow motion spell lingered away with the guns, and the men previously holding them looked around desperately. Some men jumped off to grab their weapons once they’d spotted their spots on the ground, but were practically thrown- the literal effect of the spell- back by the words murmured by Y/n.
“Everte statum!” Esme held her breath subconsciously. Y/n had yet to speak the one spell she told the group that she so greatly despised. She had yet to corrupt herself. “Expulso!” The guns broke apart, exploding where they lied, thus preventing the enemies from using their weapons.
Time returned to it’s feeling. The spell was no longer there, but they swore time had slowed again. Esme almost whipped her head around to Y/n to ask what she’d done until she noticed it wasn’t the spell.
It was like a film in the theatre; an entire movie that felt like it went on for years when really it was no more than an hour. A film that flashed the mafia’s life before their own eyes, the four across from them just characters they never asked for. A film that would be their last.
“Avada kedavra!” The words left her mouth with only slight hesitation. She convinced herself it was the only way, a repetition of the phrase to herself was the small nudge she needed to give into the curse and kill the men in front of her and her family.
A few moments passed, Y/n unmoving, standing in the same spot for the small bit of time before she turned and walked to John. “Let me see your shoulder.”
“What? No!”
Esme swatted his arm, “Let her see it, you fucking bloody idiot!”
He groaned before extending his arm and moving his night shirt over the wounded shoulder. A wince left his mouth as the cold air nipped at his bloody skin on display. “Vulnera sanentur.” The pain was gone and his wound was slowly mending itself.
Y/n turned and removed herself from their conversation for the second time. She sat upon the stairs, arm resting on her lap and her cheek held up by her palm. Esme watched with a furrow of her brows. She felt bad for Y/n, afraid even. When they’d discussed spells together, the mention of the killing curse had spooked Y/n.
It was a joke, at first. Esme was jabbing at the Blinders’ work, but then a question involving the killing part of the job popped up. Y/n assured her over and over that it wasn’t her fault, but now she couldn’t help but feel a massive wave of guilt. Y/n had just preformed the one spell she said she could never bring herself to do. Had she truly been corrupted? Was her warning true? Was she not an exception of dark magic’s addicting ways?
“It isn’t over, you know? They’re still out there, and from the looks of it, they don’t plan on walking away.” Y/n spoke up, startling the three.
“Well... What are we gonna do about it?”
“Whatever we can. We’ll think of something with the rest when we get back. For now right now though,” she paced around the property, “rather- before we leave, I have to do something. In fact, I’ll do it wherever we deem necessary.” Her in lawed siblings and cousin waited for more context in her explanation before they heard a familiar spell.
The spell was one she did when they were threatened a different time. The threat was not as big as their current but it was just as, if not a little less, serious. They’d engraved the spell in their minds, thankful to its usefulness, for how grateful they’d been that it exists.
A warm feeling took hold of them; Y/n wasn’t corrupted. Y/n was determined.
“Protego totalum.” (protection spell)

Who | Newt
Pairing: Newt X Female!Reader
Warnings: angst... no- no words? Minho being stupid and me roasting Thomas
wc; 4.4K
Synopsis: Ever since you woke up Newt can’t help but feel like you’re a different person, it seems he’s not the only one.
a/n: will probably make a part two if anyone wants it
Prompt list | Masterlist | Taglist
Based on: Who by Lauv ft. BTS and the scorch trials
—
Outlines of new eyes and visions of you
Girl, I think I need a minute
To figure out what is, what isn’t
It was all very sudden. One minute you were sleeping on Newt’s shoulder and the next you were being yelled at to get out.
Out of where?
“Move, move, move!” An officer shouted, helping Teresa.
That’s when you remembered, you had escaped the maze.
“C’mon, (Y/N),” Came Minho’s voice, gently shoving you forward. Everything was a blur, having just woken up you could barely make out the yelling and the blinding lights. Minho pushes you toward the edge of the helicopter and a pair of familiar arms wrap around your waist and lift you off and onto the concrete below.
“Are you alright?” Newt asked, moving his hands to rest on your shoulders as you blink wearily, flinching at the gunshots.
“Yeah,” you shake your head, “just a bit of a rude awakening.”
Newt nods, lips pursed, “I’ll say.”
“Thomas we have to go!” Minho shouts, but as usual, Thomas doesn’t listen and he dives back into the helicopter to grab something. Minho curses under his breath and grabs the boy's shirt, practically throwing him out the helicopter after, “Let’s go!”
Thomas and Minho get pushed into you as multiple guards surround you and direct you into the base. The door slams shut behind you and your group stares in awe at the huge place. The same question hung in the air as you all looked at each other, what is this place? A man steps forward, introducing himself and leading you through the garage, giving a brief explanation of the place.
“But we do have a place for you,” Janson said, grabbing your attention as you focus on the back of his head, “a refuge of sorts, outside the scorch. Where WCKD will never find you again,” He turns around to face you, “how does that sound?”
You and Newt share the same skeptical look. It seemed almost too good to be true. Was this truly the end?
“Why are you helping us?” Minho asked, taking the words right out of your mouth.
Janson doesn’t turn around, “Let’s just say the world out there is in a rather precarious situation, we’re all hanging on by a very thin thread. The fact that you kids can survive the flare virus makes you humanity's best chance of continued survival. Unfortunately, it also makes you a target as no doubt by now you’ve noticed.”
Janson stops in front of a door, turning towards you “Beyond this door lies the beginning of your new lives.” He slides a card through, opening it and revealing a long hallway, he turns back, smiling, but it doesn’t reach his eyes, “First things first let’s do something about that smell.”
You’re sat on a bed next to Teresa, legs dangling over the edge as you glance at Newt. He’s sat in a chair, a rather big needle being pointed at him as he gives the medical personal a concerned look. It’s as if he can feel your eyes on him as he turns to look at you, he smiles softly, trying to reassure you, but you can see the look in his eyes. He looks scared, and maybe it’s the huge needle in his arm or the fact that you’re so far from him.
“Teresa, (Y/N)? I’m Dr. Crawford.”
You glance at her, turning back to Newt, and your eyes drift to Thomas, giving Teresa the same look and you start to wonder if this place was all that it seems.
These choices and voices, they're all in my head,
Sometimes you make me feel crazy
Sometimes, I swear I think you hate me like uh
It seemed the world had a thing for rude awakenings for you. However, this time, you’re being shaken and someone is calling your name.
“(Y/N)? Hey? Hello, c’mon wake up love.”
It’s his voice, but who is he? Your eyes slowly blink open as your head pounds, you can hear distant shouting.
“Guys they’re coming!”
As you slowly regain conscience you realize Newt is the one holding you, and his eyes are searching your face for something.
“What’s happening?” You asked.
A loud crash grabs your attention and you watch the boys flip a table over and shove it against the door, forming some kind of barricade for the time being. Newt helps you off the bed and you wobble against him, before securing your footing and reassuring him you’ll be okay, but it doesn’t seem to convince as he keeps a tight grip on your hand.
“Everyone get behind me!” Minho shouts, forcing you all back.
“I know I’ve been asleep for a while, but I’m pretty sure Minho didn’t know how to use a gun last week,” you said.
Newt shrugs, “Yeah, well, he’s learning now.”
Minho spares a glance back in your direction, before loading the gun, “We gotta get out of here!”
Thomas comes up with another one of his brilliant (and quite dangerous) plans and grabs a stool, bashing at the glass.
“Newt, help me!”
The said boy grabs another stool and both manage to break the glass. Teresa is quick to drop a blanket over the broken window to prevent any injuries. Thomas practically leaps over the area, helping Teresa out as Newt goes next. You climb over after, rejecting his help as you clamber over. The rest follow, and Minho tosses Thomas the gun as he runs toward a door, trying to peer out of it.
“Stay behind me,” Thomas orders as he opens the door and comes to face with someone. He’s quick to respond and shoots him, the man flies back onto the ground as you all stare in shock.
“Well, shit,” You breathe, looking at Thomas, “that’s one hell of a gun.”
Thomas nods, “C’mon.”
And just like before you’re running again, down hallways, and to what looks to be an exit. As per usual, Thomas and Minho lead. Thomas grabs a key card from his pocket, swiping it through only to be met with soft beeps of denial.
“No, no, no,” He murmurs. Alarms are going off above your head and you’re not oblivious to the hopeless looks on everyone's faces as Janson turns the corner.
“Open this door, Janson!” Thomas shouts, aiming the gun at him. Janson holds his hands up as Minho picks up the key card and tries again.
“You really don’t want me too-”
“Open the damn door!”
“Listen to me!” Janson commands, “The maze is one thing but you kids wouldn’t last a day out in the scorch. If the element don’t kill you, the cranks will.”
Thomas continues to hold fire, but the look on his face says anything but.
“Thomas, you have to believe me, I only want what’s best for you.”
You scoff at that, rolling your eyes, “Yeah, we’ll see about that.”
“Oh yeah? Thomas counters, “Let me guess, WCKD is good.”
Janson smirks, “You're not getting through that door, Thomas.”
As if to prove a point, the door dings, a green light radiating from it as it states ‘access granted’
The door slowly opens and there stands a boy you’ve never met, with Winston, “Hey guys.”
The group of you rushes out, waiting for Thomas, who being Thomas, fires angrily at the guards before throwing the whole gun away.
You lean over to Newt, eyebrows furrowed, “Does he know how to use a gun?”
Newt frowns, “I don’t think so.”
The door begins to close and panic fills you as Thomas runs, but it doesn’t look fast enough. Everyone begins cheering, hoping the runner will make it, but time is running out and the door is closing. Against all odds, Thomas slides through and the boy who you’ve learned to now be Aris smashes the panel as Janson bangs at the glass. In response, Thomas only gives him the middle finger as you laugh.
Newt shoots you a small glance, but you don’t notice. He’s not sure why, and maybe it’s just his brain playing tricks on him, but it almost feels as if something’s off about you. Had WCKD done something to you?
Ever since you woke up he had noticed you weren’t as close to him. Maybe it sounded ridiculous, but it started with when you woke up. He knew you like the back of his hand, and when you first opened your eyes and saw him, there was nothing in them. No love, recognition, warmth, happiness, nothing.
They were just void.
Then there was when you had rejected the hand he gave you when you went through the window - and maybe he’s just paranoid, but you’ve never rejected his help. Even when you were holding onto his hand, it just wasn’t as tight anymore. It’s probably just him, but Newt couldn’t help but feel like ever since you woke you were someone else, but who?
Even now as you climb up the dunes, you were far ahead of him, next to Teresa talking in a hushed voice.
Newt sighs, who were you?
I need a walk, I need a walk, I need to get out of here
'Cause I need to know: Who are you?
'Cause you're not the girl I fell in love with, baby
As the days passed, Newt felt like you were growing more distant. It felt like he didn’t even know you anymore. He could pinpoint the exact moment it happened when you woke up. He knew that much, WCKD had done something to you - you weren’t the same. You weren’t the girl he fell in love with. Newt sighs, running a hand through his hair as he stands up, glancing at the fire in front of him before walking off into the cold night. He just needs to clear his head, reassure himself that it was only him, but he can’t help it. Even now, you were curled up on the desert floor, knees tucked in and completely facing away from everyone. It was like you were closing yourself off from them - distancing yourself.
“You okay?” Thomas asked, startling Newt.
Newt shrugs off Thomas’s hand, nodding, “Yeah, I’m fine.”
“It’s (Y/N), isn’t it?”
Newt purses his lips together, staring off into the dark, “How'd you know?”
“She’s not distancing herself from just you. We’ve all noticed, Newt.”
“I’m not crazy,” He mumbles as Thomas nods.
“She’s changed. WCKD did something to her - to them.”
Newt spins around, “Them?”
“Teresa, I know she’s changed too. It only makes sense,” Thomas replies.
“So what do we do?”
“What can we do?”
Newt tugs at the roots of his hair, trying desperately to find a way out of this. “Is there anything we can do?”
Thomas shrugs, “I don’t know.”
Silence settles over the two boys, both sitting on the hard ground and staring into the night. If you weren’t (Y/N), who were you? Had WCKD altered your personality? Changed you? What could they have possibly done to the girl he loved?
Who are you?
'Cause something has changed, you're not the same, I hate it
Oh, I'm sick of waiting for love, love
Oh, I know that you're not the one, one
“Newt, hey do you see that?” Thomas asked, pointing to what looks to be a building in the distance. Newt nods as Thomas works at waking the rest of the group.
“(Y/N), hey, we gotta go,” Newt murmurs, gently shaking you awake. You blink a few times, registering his face before nodding and letting him help you stand up. A loud rumble echoes through the deserted place, followed by a lighting bolt in the distance.
“We have to go, go now!” Thomas said, grabbing at everyone and pushing them forward. You all began running, feet slamming against the sand, desperately trying to beat the storm. Lighting rains down on you all, getting closer and closer.
“(Y/N), c’mon!” Newt shouts, extending a hand toward you and despite what he thinks, you grab it, letting him pull you forward. Holding hands with Newt use to felt right, like two puzzle pieces connecting for the first time, but it only felt wrong now. So, so wrong, and you couldn’t understand why.
A bolt strikes down, alarmingly close and you can hear it ringing in your ears as Newt tugs you toward him, bumping together as you breathe out a sorry.
The building is closer now and you run a bit faster, pulling Newt with you as you near a door.
A loud cackle startles you as you watch Minho and Thomas go flying. Your group screams their names, but it looks like Thomas can’t hear you and Minho is - he’s smoking.
You can hear Thomas screaming Minho’s name, crawling over to him. Newt leaves your side, pushing you back and ordering you to stay there as he and Aris go to help Thomas pick up Minho. You follow Teresa, racing toward the door and waiting in the dark for the boys as they race against the storm.
“Newt!” You scream, urging them to move faster. Against all odds, they stumble inside and Fry slams the door shut.
“Minho?” Thomas cries, shaking him, “c’mon.”
Your heart drops when the boy doesn’t seem to wake up. Out of instinct, you reach for Newt and let him pull you to his chest, hiding your face into the crook of his neck as your fear the worse.
Then, a sharp intake of breath, “What happened?”
Thomas exhales, “You were struck by lightning.”
Minho smiles, a bit dazed, “Sick.”
You roll your eyes, at his comment, stepping back from Newt and offering him an apologetic smile as he nods.
“Guys, do you smell that?” Teresa asks, walking forward.
There’s the sound of chains clinking together before a scream tears through the building. A flashlight shines on the creature and you realize it’s a crank, it screams again and Newt pushes you behind him as the group realizes they’re surrounded.
“Oh shit.”
“I see you’ve met out guards dogs,” A voice says, and you watch as a woman walks up to you guys, “you look like shit.”
You roll your eyes, smiling a bit in relief, “Thanks.”
Feeling hypnotized by the words that you said, Don't lie to me, just get in my head
When the morning comes, you're still in my bed, But it's so, so cold
“Are you okay?” Newt asked, brown eyes sincere.
“I’m fine,” You replied, glancing at your hands instead of him.
“You’re sure?”
“Newt, I’m fine.”
Said boy sighs, “I know you’re lying.”
That gets your attention and your eye snap up to meet his, “What?”
“I know you’re lying, (Y/N),” He shrugs, leaning back. You open your mouth to further argue, but Newt cuts you off, “I don’t know why. I wish you’d tell me, but I guess everyone has their secrets.”
There’s an almost threatening undertone to his voice, but you knew Newt and brushed it off.
“Yeah, I guess we all do.”
Silence fills the void between you both unless you count Jorge yelling at Marcus. You felt so far from Newt, and the reality was you were and Newt was feeling the strain.
“They did something to you,” Newt said, catching you off guard. “They messed with your mind or… or something!”
“Newt,” You call softly, “They didn’t-”
“Don’t say they didn’t do anything, I know they did. I know you’re lying to me - to us. Just tell me, please.”
You turn away from his pleading eyes, intent on keeping your mouth shut, “Nothing happened.”
“Then why are you so cold to me?”
“I’m no-”
“Yes, you are! You can’t even look me in the eye anymore. I pretend I don’t feel it, but I know that when you hold my hand it isn’t the same. You don’t want to.”
You go silent again, opting to look anywhere but him, you couldn’t. If you looked at him, you’d see the tears, the pain in his eyes and it would make the choice too hard.
“I’m sorry,” You whisper.
“What did they do to you?” He asked, setting a hand on yours, trying to get you to look at him, “Please.”
“I can’t,” You protest, making no move to grab his hand, but also not shrugging him off. “I just can’t.”
Newt clicks his tongue, nodding as he removes his hand from yours, and for some reason, you miss it.
“Of course you can’t.”
“I’m sorry Newt.”
“I’m sorry too.”
“Everyone has their secrets,” You echo back to him, “some secrets just aren’t meant to be revealed.”
Newt shakes his head, “Yeah, I guess not.”
Who are you?
'Cause you're not the girl I fell in love with
The fire did nothing to keep Newt warm. He felt numb, cold all over. It seemed after talking to you, he only pushed you away more. Arriving at the right arm should’ve been a moment where you rejoiced, but Newt hadn’t seen you since they arrived.
“Where’s (Y/N)?” Minho asked, glancing around the camp for you, when he doesn’t see you he turns to Newt who shrugs, “It’s none of my business.”
Fry raises his eyebrows, looking to Thomas and Minho as if to say ‘I think we hit a nerve.’
“Aren’t you guys, like, I don’t know… close?” Thomas stuttered, Minho face-planting next to him.
“I loved her,” Newt answers, looking off in the distance missing the way all three boys jaws fell.
“Did he just say loved?”
“That’s like… past tense.”
“So he doesn’t anymore?”
“Holy shit, he’s in love with Thomas.”
“Minho, shut up!”
Minho raises his hand in surrender, “Okay, so then… he’s in love with Teresa?”
Fry slaps Minho upside the head for that comment as Thomas shoots daggers at the Asian, “How stupid are you?”
“Okay fine! He’s-”
“If you say he’s in love with me, Minho I swear to god I will throw you off this cliff,” Fry threatens as Minho goes silent.
“I’m not in love with anyone else,” Newt said, turning back toward them, “She’s just - she’s not the same person from the Glade.”
“Are you saying she’s been taken over by Aliens?”
Fry sighs deeply, lowering his head into his hands, “Minho I’m seriously going to throw you off this damn cliff.”
Minho huffs, mumbling something under his breath, “Okay. I’m done now. You think WCKD did something to her, don’t you?”
Newt nods, staring at his shoes, “I know they did something to (Y/N).”
“But what?” Thomas questions, leaning forward slightly.
“I don’t know! Maybe she has been taken over by bloody aliens-”
“Ah-ha! I was right!”
“Minho!”
“Sorry,” He coughs, “carry on.”
Newt runs a hand through his hair, “Do you think there’s a way to get her back?”
“We don’t even know what they did,” Thomas said.
“There has to be something,” Newt protests, standing up, “I can’t just - I can’t let it end like this. I can’t let her go without knowing we could’ve done something.”
“Newt,” Fry calls, “Is there maybe a chance she just…” He trails off, hinting at something he doesn’t want to say out loud.
“She what?” Newt snaps.
“She doesn’t love you anymore.”
As soon as he said those words, Fry folding in on himself, mumbling an apology.
Newt shakes his head in denial, “No, why would she - it doesn’t make sense.”
“And her being taken by WICKED and them changing her entire personality does?”
“Yes!” Newt shouts, “It makes a lot more sense. You don’t just fall out of love with someone, you can’t. Look, the moment I woke her up I knew something was wrong.”
Minho stands up, resting a hand on the shoulders of his friend, “Just think about it. We’re not saying she did, but you’re ruling it out because you don’t want to believe.”
Thomas nods, “You know we’re here for you and (Y/N). If something’s wrong, we’ll figure it out.”
Newt nods, shutting his eyes and taking a deep breath, “Thank you.”
“We’ll save her, Newt.”
“I know we will.”
Who are you?
'Cause you’re not the girl I fell in love with, baby
Who are you?
Thomas is forced to his knees next to Minho as the guards yank him in line.
“Why didn’t you run?” Minho whispers, glancing at Thomas from the corner of his eye.
“I’m tired of running,” Thomas said.
A loud rumble echoes through the night as another berg lands. Sand is tossed up from the turbines before they shut off and the door opens. Four guards step out, protecting something - someone.
And that someone was Ava Paige, “Is this all of them?” She turns toward Janson.
“Most of them,” he said, “it’ll be enough.”
“Start loading them in,” She orders.
“Yes, ma’am,” He complies, looking to the guards. “Okay, you heard. Let’s go! Get ‘em on!”
Ava stops in front of the three boys, staring at Thomas, “Hello, Thomas.”
Hurt, betrayal, disbelief flood through Newt when he watches you walk forward with Teresa. The guards weren’t pushing you, in fact, they were protecting you.
“I’m glad you’re safe,” Ava said, nodding at the two of you.
Minho stood up, hurt laced in his voice as he looks at the two of you, “What the hell?”
“Teresa? (Y/N)?” Fry questions.
“Wait, what’s going? (Y/N)?” Newt called out, trying to fight the obvious. He already knew the answer, but he couldn’t bring himself to believe it. What happened to you? What changed the girl who wanted nothing to do with WCKD to siding with them? Most importantly, what happened to the girl he fell in love with? Newt had felt like he’d been stabbed. He should’ve seen the signs, they were right there in front of his face, but he had turned a blind eye and he couldn’t help but feel some of this is his fault.
“They’re with them,” Thomas spat, voice like poison as he glares at the two of you.
“Since when?” Minho scoffed, not even meeting your eyes.
“Oh, Teresa’s always had an evolved appreciation of the greater good,” Janson steps forward, “(Y/N)… not so much, but it seems once we restored Teresa’s memories, it was only a matter of time. (Y/N) was just a bonus here.”
“I’m sorry,” Teresa said, “I had no choice. This is the only way. We have to find a cure.”
“She’s right,” Ava spoke up, “this is all just a means to an end. You used to understand that, Thomas. No matter what you think of me… I am not a monster. I’m a doctor. I swore an oath to find a cure! No matter the cost.” She pauses, “I just need more time.”
“More blood,” Mary said, glaring at Ava.
“Hello, Mary,” Ava replies, ignoring her remark. “I hoped we’d meet again. I’m sorry it had to be under these circumstances.”
“I’m sorry about a lot of things, too, but not this. At least my conscience is clear.”
Ava didn’t even bat an eyelash, “So is mine.”
A gunshot echoes through the night and you flinch. Mary slumps forward, Vince desperately calling her name as he fights off the guard.
“Come on, Janson,” Ava commands, gently grabbing you and Teresa’s arm. “Load them up. Let’s go. All these people. Get rid of them. Let’s go! Let’s go!”
Your eyes gaze down at the ground, trying to fight the feeling of all this being wrong. Was it wrong? You wanted to save lives, but was it worth risking theirs?
“Get back! Everyone, stand back!” Thomas shouts, and you spin around, eyes wide when you see the explosive in his hand and the determined look in his eyes.
“Stand back!”
Janson runs forward, eyes blazing, “Hold your fire!”
“Stand back,” Thomas said, “let them go.”
“Thomas, put it down,” Janson tried, but Thomas shakes his head, “Let them all go!”
“You know I can’t do that!” Ava protests.
“Thomas,” Teresa called, voice soft, “please stop. I made a deal with them. They promised we’d be safe - All of us.”
You don’t say anything, you can’t even look at them. Guilt was eating at you, you were in the wrong, but you couldn’t go back.
“And I’m supposed to trust you now?”
“It’s true!” Ava steps in, “it was her only condition-”
“Shut up!” Thomas screams, stepping back,
“Everything can go back to the way it was. Thomas… do you really want all of them to die?”
You turn away from her, eyes glassy as you realize how badly you screwed up.
“Listen to her, Thomas,” Janson spoke, “think about what you’re doing.”
“We’re with you, Thomas.”
Your heart drops when you hear Newt’s voice among the three, all of them crowding around the bomb
“Please,” You whisper, the first you’d spoken, “Don’t do this.”
“Don’t,” Ava backed you up.
“Do it, Thomas,” Minho said, glaring at you.
“We’re ready,” Fry reassures.
“We’re not going back there.”
“Thomas…”
Thomas raises his hand with the remote, finger hovering over the detonation button, “It’s the only way.”
You screw your eyes shut, turning away and waiting for something, an explosion, but instead, a crash and the sound of a truck come through. Chaos explodes as Jorge crashes into the helicopter. Everyone tries to break free from their restraints as you remain frozen in place, wondering if this was your chance to escape. Thomas blinks a few times, still holding the bomb.
“Freeze!” A guard orders, “Drop it, kid!”
Thomas, being the little shit that he is, ignores him and tosses the bomb forward, falling straight to the ground as it explodes. You think this is your chance to escape, to run away and find Newt and apologize, but Teresa grabs your arms, dragging you with her to the berg, and your hope diminishes, “We have to go, (Y/N).”
You follow her inside, watching the whole ordeal play out. Your eyes scan the crowd for Newt, but you can’t find him. Instead, you see Minho being dragged toward you by two guards. The guards drop him right at your feet, and you glance down, eyes filled with tears that roll down your cheeks.
“I’m sorry,” you whisper only to Minho. “I’m so sorry.”
Cause something has changed, you're not the same, I hate it
Oh, I'm sick of waiting for love, love
Oh, I know that you're not the one, one

Gally x Reader Chapter 35: The end
Y/N'S POV
I felt a cool salty breeze blow over my face making me groan. I wearily opened my eyes to see I was lying in a wooden hut. I grunted in pain as I got up from the bed. I pulled up my shirt to see bandages around my stomach. I slipped on the shoes which were next to the bed and lifted the thin veil over the entrance. I walked out to see a sandy shore ahead of me. So this was the safe haven everyone was talking about.
"You jerk!"I turned my head to see a bunch of kids messing around. Looking on, I saw a small settlement with people walking around or talking with one another. I stumbled as I walked around, watching in wonder while people worked with some stopping to watch me passing by. Looking in front of me, I saw Thomas, Frypan and Minho approaching me. I waved at them before Thomas pulled me into a hug.
"Thank god you woke up"His voice was muffled as he hugged me tightly.
"How long was I asleep?"I asked when he let me go, only for me to be pulled into more hugs from Frypan and Minho.
"Almost two weeks"Frypan replied.
"Please don't ever run in front of bullets again"Minho half-joked.
"I can't make any promises"I chuckled as they rolled their eyes"So, where's Gally?"I asked them, my heart pounding, dreading any more bad news.
"He's fine"Thomas assured me"He's just resting for the first time since we got here"
"He hasn't been resting?"I questioned.
"He wouldn't leave your side"Minho said softly"Wouldn't sleep, wouldn't eat. He wouldn't even shower. I'm surprised his smell alone didn't wake you up"I smiled at that before looking down. I saw the guys look at each other before Thomas took my arm.
"Come on, I want to show you something"I waved to Minho and Frypan as Thomas led me to a center area that had a huge rock in front of it with dozens of names carved into it. I ran my fingers over the names: Teresa, Winston, Chuck, Alby and.....Newt. I paused at his name, staring at it.
"I miss him Tommy"I said quietly.
"I miss him too _______"He put his arm around my shoulders"Gally said he found you clenching this"He opened his hand to reveal the tubular pendant which was now open"I found some letters inside"I looked up at Thomas as I picked up the pendant.
"What did they say?"
"I found one addressed to me and one for you"He pointed to the paper curled inside"Don't worry, I didn't read yours. Whatever Newt wrote, it isn't for me to know"He smiled softly at me"I want you to the keep the pendant. I have my letter, it's enough for me"He kissed my forehead and patted my shoulder before walking away.
I made my way to a cliff side just beyond the huts and sat down. I took a deep breath then with shaky hands, I pulled out the letter and read it.
Dear _______,
I don't know when I last wrote down something this important. Not since before the maze, I suppose. But I feel you need to read this because I know you're probably shutting everyone out like you do when things begin to wear down on you. But I can't let you do that, love. I can't let you waste away just because you believe I'm gone. I'm not, I promise.
I won't relay when or how I got infected but I've had it long enough to accept my fate. I'm not scared of dying but I am scared of forgetting those I love. Every night before I sleep, I've been saying their names over and over. Alby, Winston, Chuck. It reminds me of what we used to take for granted back in the glade; the sun shining over a new day, the wild yells of bonfire night and you.
I always hoped despite the fact you always said you loved us all equally, that perhaps you felt something more for me as I have always felt for you. Alas, your heart wasn't mine to take, it was made for Gally. I want you to be happy, you deserve it, whether it's with Gally or without but I don't want you to waste your future because it's not just your future, it's ours. As long as you're living your life, I'm not gone. So I need you to live again, I know what you and Gally have is special, don't let it fade away. Thank you for showing me how to live. Goodbye my love Newt x
GALLY'S POV
I made my way to the med hut, grumbling as I remembered Minho and Frypan shoving me out despite my protests, while Thomas blocked the entrance.
FLASHBACK
"I need to be there when she wakes up!"I struggled against them.
"Gally, you smell worse than a sewer. She's going to faint when she smells you, especially if you're sitting right next to her"Minho groaned as he pulled me further away from the hut.
"You need a shower man!"I ripped my arm out of their grasp as Frypan panted.
"I'll shower when I know she's okay!"I ran back to Thomas"Out of my way Thomas"
"No Gally. This is for your own good"He tackled me, knocking me over"She'll be fine for a couple of minutes while you shower and eat"I stopped struggling as I fell back against the sand, weak and exhausted.
"She was shot right in front of me, how can I leave her alone anymore?"I said, staring up at the sky.
"She's not alone, Gally. We're finally safe"Minho helped me sit up."And besides, _______ doesn't need protection, she needs common sense not to dive head first into danger"I chuckled at this and stood up.
"Fine. I'll shower but I'm eating here"They nodded in agreement and I glanced back to the hut as we walked away"She's going to be okay"
FLASHBACK
I pushed past the veil and my heart dropped when I saw the empty bed. I turned around, sprinting to where Thomas was standing, staring out onto the sea.
"She's gone!"I grabbed him by the shoulders, my words coming out jumbled due to my panic"I looked in the hut and she-she is just gone. Thom-"
"Gally! Breathe!"He pushed me off him"_______ is fine. She woke up while you were resting. She's right over there"He pointed to a small ridge overlooking the sea where a figure was seated.
"Right okay"I calmed down, breathing deeply"Thanks"I waved him away as I made my way to the ridge. As I approached, I felt a sense of deja vu when I saw her shoulders shaking as she stared at the horizon. Just like before, I felt I should walk away but she turned to me before I could.
"Gally"Her voice was hoarse and her normally bright _____ eyes were dull and rimmed red.
"Hey _______"I awkwardly sat down next to her while she wiped away her tears. I noticed the tubular pendant around her neck and the tear stained letter in her hands, with Newt's distinct handwriting. I looked away, unsure what to say"How are you feeling?"
"Physically? Fine"She answered"Mentally? Like shit"She scoffed"How have you been? I heard you wouldn't leave me alone"She looked at me with soft smile.
"Yeah, well it was my fault you got hurt"I muttered, my cheeks turning red"I should have seen that bullet coming"
"Gally, no"She sat closer to me, shaking her head"It was my stupidity that got me hurt and you know what"She looked down, slowly interlocking her fingers with mine before looking back at me"I would take a bullet for you every day of my life"
"What about Newt?"I found myself blurting and I wanted to punch my brain as her eyes flashed with pain while she removed her hand from mine"It's just I know he had feelings for you and you clearly felt something back"I rambled.
"And you know this how?"She asked me, her gaze intense.
"Oh come off it _______"I scoffed"You weren't exactly hiding it, what with the constant hand holding and lovesick glances"My fists curling while I spat this out"I've known from the start that you weren't really mine to love. I shouldn't have come back, I should have died-"I was cut off when she kissed me suddenly, pulling away before I fully registered what happened.
"I forgot just how dim you can be"She gasped, holding onto my shirt"Gally, hear me out and don't interrupt alright?"I nodded, still speechless"Yes, I cared for Newt more differently than I cared for the others and yes maybe if you hadn't come back, something might have happened between us"I opened my mouth but she held up her finger"But I also know that seeing you again was the day my soul came alive once more. Newt knew this and because he loved me, he knew I would only be truly happy with you. You have and always will be the world for me. I love you Gally"She finished softly.
"I'm sorry for all the hurt I've put you through sweetheart"I cupped her face gently"I always hoped I would find you alive and we could start over again. That things could be different."
"Well, this is our chance, my love"She held her hand over mine, smiling"I don't ever want to be apart from you again Gally"
"I'll never let that happen _______. I promise"I smiled. We slowly leaned in and kissed properly. I felt my heart soar as I pulled her closer, savouring her natural taste of sweetness, a taste which couldn't be found anywhere else. After months without her, I was dying to have more but I pulled away with reluctance. Her eyes remained closed for a second before she opened them with slight confusion.
"Is something wrong?"She asked, her eyebrows knitting in confusion.
"Everything's fine"I run my thumb across her cheek"I just want to savour our time together"She blushed at that and slid her arms around my chest, crawling into my lap as we faced the sea.
"I like the sound of that"She smiled as I held her close, placing her head on my shoulder. I kissed her forehead and slipped my hand into hers.
"Our forever starts today"

For Them
Words: 1868
Warnings: angst, mention of death, tears?
Summary: Having Thomas bring back hope for you when you couldn’t see any. Deep conversations on a beach.
'What now?'
That one question buzzed around your head for the last couple of weeks. Almost all the people you loved and called family were dead.
Alby, your leader for the longest time. Your brother, even if not by blood, sacrificed himself. You knew him the longest, because when he was in the maze alone for the first month you came up with the supplies. Imagine the shock on both of your faces when you slowly realized that you had to fight everyday to survive and on top of that being the only girl for almost three years. But you two stuck together threw everything. God you missed him tremendously.
Dean, the one that always made you smile even when you were about to give up hope. He was one of the builders and he made sure that your room in the shack was always draft free. He got impaled by one of the Grievers when all of you were fighting at the cliff. You could still hear his screams.
Chuck, the little ray of sunshine. He was the youngest and smallest out of all of the boys and he was only there for a month. You weren't that close to him, him being a Slopper and you a med jack made conversations and interactions rare. But when you found time you cherished these moments. He was so pure and unsoiled. It was refreshing.
Winston. Poor Winston. Surviving the Glade and everything else WICKED threw at them just to get infected by a virus that slowly ate him alive and turned him into something else. You would never get the image of him crawling towards the gun with pleading words of death out of your head. You didn't know what was worse. The images of him or the heartbreaking sound of a gunshot silencing everything else as you left him behind. You knew it was what he wanted but still it broke your heart.
So many other boys that you loved and cherished had similar stories.
Kaleb who didn't make it back in time and got crushed between the maze doors.
Sam who got thrown off the cliff while you all were fighting.
Jeff, your fellow med jack, who got electrocuted by lightning.
Max, Ben, Steven, John, George, Leo, Pyke, Aaron, Rick, Alex, Newt.... Oh god Newt.
This sweet soul that just wanted for his family to be save and got tortured and mangled until he couldn't go on anymore. All because of WICKED. Always WICKED. The picture of the knife that stuck inside his torso. The eyes that weren't sparkling with light but glazed over with nothingness . The hair that stuck in wild places because of the sweat and blood. Veins that run up his whole body and looked like snakes that slowly strangled him. The blood...
“Hey Y/N!”
Only now did you realize that you had been crying.
“Hey I've been calling your name all the way over her...are you okey?”
Thomas was slowly walking towards your hunched figure that sat on the beach. He didn't realize that you had been trapped inside your own mind until he was in front of you and saw the tears running down your face.
You were glad that Thomas interrupted your dark thoughts. Everyone on the Island, this so called “Save Haven”, was sometimes trapped in their own heads and if you're unlucky it wasn't so easy to break free from the gloomy images paying on loop in your head. With shaky hands, that just wouldn't stop trembling, you hastily wipe away the tears that continue to run down your face while putting on a fake smile.
“Yeah of course I'm ok” Thomas went around you to look into your eyes. His back was turned to the ocean. The crashing of waves was a soothing scenery to a conversation that would be anything else but calming or soothing. He knew exactly what you were doing, because he does it with all the time with his other friends too.
With just a sigh and a tone you knew all to well he started. “Y/N”
“What? I am.”
“We both know that that's not true. You can tell me you know?” He went beside you and took your left hand into his bigger right one. You still don't understand why he had that effect on you but as soon as his hand enclosed yours the trembling stopped.
“But I am.” Your voice turned colder than what it was a few minutes ago. Sure your voice was a little wobbly and raw but he liked that more than this distant robotic tone you were using now. “I'm not dead. I'm not infected with a virus that eats my brain. I'm have food for the rest of my life and I get to live on this ridiculously beautiful island only because we ran away and left the world to burn so yeah. Why the hell wouldn't I be ok?!” You didn't mean to yell at him but with all the dug up memories that played inside your mind only minutes ago and then him questioning your words made you just snap.
Thomas didn't say anything and just sat there next to you. After a few minutes you squeezed his hand and let out a shuddering breath. Tears were again prickling in your eyes and you knew that no matter what you would do they would drop.
Your voice was small when you began talking again.
“I'm sorry. I didn't mean to yell at you I just..” They were falling now. “How the hell are we supposed to be fine and happy when we basically ran away and left everyone behind?” You were looking at him now. Directly into his eyes, almost begging him to have an answer. He looks right back with tears building inside his own. Desperately wanting to give you everything you asked off him and more.
“Thomas how are we.. ” Your voice broke half way trough his name. “How are we meant to live like this? With all that we've been through and just be ok?”
He had to strain his hearing to understand everything you said between sobs and hiccups.
But as soon as everything made sense he let go of your hand to take your head between his. With his thumb he wiped away the waterfall of tears that just wouldn't stop.
“We're not.” That was not the answer you thought would come out of his mouth. His voice was quiet but steady. Final and true. You were about to ask him why the hell he even asked then if you were ok in the first place.
He didn't make any sense.
But right as your mouth opened he began talking again.
“Right now we're not ok. We don't need to lie about that. What we went through, what we had to endure to find this place and..” One single tear ran down his cheek. And just like he did for you, you took hold of his face and graced his cheek to erase any evidence of tears.
“..the people we had to leave behind or were taken from us..” His eyes never left yours while he brought his forehead to yours.
“...no one could just be ok with any of that. If you were I would seriously think you're not right in the head.” That brought a slight chuckle out of you. He couldn't hear it, but you were close enough for him to feel it. It stopped as soon as you let it out. 'Not right in the head.' Not like someone with the Flare.
He could see in your eyes that your thoughts were about to turn dark again. So he started again to keep you with him on the beach.
“But now we have a save place were we can get to a point where we are ok. Where we can actually grieve for our friends, homes we never had and anything else they took from us. We can grieve all the time we lost with everyone who is now a name carved into the stone.”
He knew that this was not something you wanted to hear but he had to say it.
“And after we did that, after we get over that point we get more and more moments where we can imagine to be ok. We get to laugh more. We get to enjoy the food Frypan cooks for us again. We might even dance around the bonfire like we did back in the Maze.
And after all that, after we learned how to be ok for these moments, we will not have to pretend to be it but we will truly be fine and healed.”
With ever word Thomas said your tears flowed more. This time only not out of hopelessness but because Thomas had done it again. He gave you a little bit of hope. With only his soothing words, small strokes with his thumb over your cheeks and an honest look in his eyes you couldn't help yourself but believe him. He was good at it. Giving speeches and brining hope and light to bleak situations. It was the reason you made it to the Save Haven. Him motivating you to keep going, always keep going.
The small smile that grew on your face was the first real one you showed since you came to this island and Thomas was filled with relief and a bit of happiness. He put that smile there. He gave you hope. And now he wants to give you a reason to keep going.
“We will be fine and happy one day. Because survived everything that was thrown in our way and because our friends sacrificed everything for us to be here. We will do it so we can truly be free. And we do it for them. For everyone thats not on our island.” Thomas oped that that was not one too far. It was risky but he just wants you to try and move forward.
Releasing a breath, that somehow got stuck in your throat, you lifted your head off of his, scooted closer to his side and laid your head on his shoulder, looking outside the wide ocean. The wind that picked up a little and spray was in the air. Smelling of salt and sea.
Thomas knew that you thought about his words. But the fact that you had your head on his shoulder and that your hands were still tightly held in each other showed him that he had done at least something right.
“For them huh?”
Now it was his face that grew a true smile. He had you there. Knowing you would not necessarily try to mend your mind for yourself, always wanting to make sure that everyone else was save or taken care of first. He knew that you would try for them, but also for everyone that was on this island. And also eventually you would do it for you. And he couldn't wait to hear you lively laugh again that back then filled the whole maze.

The Trials of Emi
Pairing: A little Minho. A sprinkle of Frypan. Gally x Emi(OC)
Summary: Emi, her twin brother Thomas, and a small group of gladers had been rescued and taken to a safe haven. Or so it seemed. It doesn't take long for Thomas to realize something is wrong. What happens next is a true trial for all of them but Emi's trials began the moment she was ripped away from a dying Gally. Watching someone you love die right before your eyes truly takes a toll.
Finally meeting the right arm could have been the end but betrayal leads to even more chaos and loss. A new mission to rescue those taken from them leads them to a city. The last city. After Emi finally comes to terms with everything that's happened something unfolds that changes everything again. She will have to not only deal with helping her brother take down WCKD and save their friend but also deal with all the new problems in her head and her heart.
Rating: As of right now it’s at most PG13. Some strong language that’s about it but it could change.
(This is the 2nd part/book to my other story "The Maze trials: A Gally Fanfiction". This will cover the events of the scorch trails and the death cure.)
Chapter Seventeen
I sat on top of the roof with my back against the edge. I was slowly going through each of the drawings in the folder. Most of them were of me. They were all so delicate and beautiful. So perfectly drawn with so much detail. It was clear Gally had taken his time on each of them.
"Knock knock" a soft voice said from the top of the stairs.
I turned my head to see Fry standing in the doorway. I gave him a small smile.
"Can I join you?" He asked hesitantly.
I nodded then patted the spot next to me. He walked over then carefully sat down beside me.
"What's that?" He asked pointing to the folder.
I put the drawings back inside it then handed it to him.
"That man, Lawrence, gave it to me. He said they were Gally's." I said softly.
Fry opened the folder. He smiled as he flipped through the drawings.
"Wow, he got really good at this." Fry said quietly.
"You knew he could draw?" I asked him.
Fry nodded as he pulled out the drawing of me laughing.
"He always had an eye for details. Looks exactly like you." Fry smiled.
He placed the paper back in the folder then handed it back to me. I sighed.
"I'm sorry I snapped at you." I said softly.
Fry chuckled.
"You don't have to apologize Em. I get it. You're under a lot of stress." He smiled at me.
"I do need to apologize Fry. You were there for me when everyone else was busy with their own problems. You stayed up at night to keep me company. You held me when I cried. You made me laugh when all I wanted to do was tear myself apart. You confessed feelings for me that I wasn't ready to reciprocate but you still continued to stand beside me and be my friend. You've been so understanding and loving and now I'm treating you like none of that ever happened and I'm sorry. I don't ever want to forget what you've been to me in the past year. I'm just so conflicted." I felt the tears fall down my cheeks as I spoke.
Fry gently pulled the folder from my hands then laid it on the ground. He picked me up then gently sat me on his lap. I buried my face in his neck so I could let everything I felt come out. He wrapped his arms tightly around me.
"Emi, you're right, I do have feelings for you but I know what you and Gally had. What you still have. I saw it with my own eyes. I knew I'd never replace him. I never wanted to. I just want to be there for you however I can. I can't imagine what is going through your head now that we know he's alive. I just want you to know it's okay. Don't feel any guilt for wanting to run to him. He's the love of your life. A love you thought you'd lost forever but now you've got the chance at a real life with him. I'm always gonna be your friend. When we go back down there do me a favor." Fry paused to look down at me.
I sniffled then pulled away from him so I could look him in the eyes.
"You grab that dumb shank and you kiss him. Make sure he knows what you feel. Don't hesitate. Don't you worry about me either. I'll happily stand by you both." He smiled down at me.
"Thank you Fry" I whispered.
"It's what friends are for Em." He leaned forward then placed a soft kiss to my forehead.
He stood up pulling me to my feet with him. He picked the folder up from the ground then handed it to me.
"I believe this belongs to you." He chuckled.
I took the folder hugging it to me as I let him guide me back to the stairs. Once we were back in the sitting room where we first met Lawrence I saw that the others had returned. Gally and Thomas both had their backs to me. The rest of the group was sitting around the room. I saw Newt nod in mine and Fry's direction. Both Gally and Thomas turned around to face us. Gally's eyes fell the the folder I was hugging. He visibly gulped as his eyes moved to Fry's arm that was gently placed against my mid back. Fry silently guided me over to a large couch. We both sat down with the rest of the group.
“So, what’s our way in?” Brenda asked from her seat next to me.
Thomas sighed as he shifted his weight between his feet. Something was up with him. I glanced to Newt who was sitting with his arms crossed over his chest. He looked angry. Properly angry.
“Teresa is our way in. We grab her and use her as our pass through the doors. I can get us guard uniforms to blend in.” Gally explained.
Thomas shook his head as he pulled at his bottom lip. My blood boiled just from the mention of her name.
“No, there’s gotta be another way.” Thomas said.
“Like what? You’ve seen the building. She is our only way in.” Gally told him.
“You really think she’s gonna help us?” Thomas asked.
“I don’t plan on asking for her permission.” Gally said sternly.
“You’re god damn right!” I shouted as I got to my feet.
“You need someone to bash her damn head in? I’m your girl. I can promise you if I get my hands on her she won’t be able to do anything but what we say.” I said angrily.
“There you go. I’m pretty sure she can do just that.” Gally said with a small smile.
Brenda stood up beside me. She grabbed my shoulder in a small gesture to keep me calm. I knew she hated Teresa as much as I did.
“Am I missing something?” She asked Thomas.
He looked at her in clear confusion.
“This is the same girl who betrayed us, correct? Same dick?” Brenda asked Thomas.
“I like her.” Gally said pointing to Brenda.
“What’s going on?” Brenda asked Thomas softly.
Newt huffed as he stood up.
“What, are you afraid your little girlfriend is gonna get hurt?” Newt asked sharply as he turned to face Thomas.
Thomas looked completely taken back.
“Hmm? Because this has obviously never been just about rescuing Minho. Has it?” Newt asked stepping closer to my brother and his boyfriend.
“Newt, what are you talking about?” Thomas asked with hurt in his eyes.
Newt started to walk slowly as he spoke forcing Thomas to walk backwards away from him.
“Teresa. She’s the only reason that Minho’s even missing in the first place. Now we finally have an opportunity to get him back. And what? You don’t want to because of her? Because deep down inside you care about her, don’t you? Just admit it.” Newt said aggressively as Thomas stopped against the wall.
“Newt, I-“ Thomas started.
“Don’t lie to me! Don’t. Lie. To. Me.” Newt shouted as he shoved Thomas against the wall.
I jumped at his action. What the hell? In all the time I’ve known Newt he’s never been angry like this. And with Thomas of all people? Newt stepped back as he panted.
“Sorry” I heard him say faintly.
He ran a hand threw his hair as he turned to face the rest of us.
“I’m sorry” he said softly.
He turned then disappeared up the stairs to the roof. Thomas took a deep breath as he stepped away from the wall.
“You better go after him Tommy.” I said sternly.
Thomas nodded the quickly made for the stairs.
“What the hell was that?” Brenda asked.
“No clue” Fry said as he stood up.
“Maybe Newt’s a little jealous. I think he has every right to be pissed about Thomas wanting to protect her.” I said with a look of disgust as I thought about Thomas doing just that.
“Emi” Gally said suddenly.
My head snapped up to look at him. He stepped back from the group then nodded for me to follow him.
“Let’s talk” he said softly as he glanced to Fry.
I nodded then stepped up to follow him. He led me into the room I was in earlier with Lawrence. He sighed as he closed the door behind him. For some reason the air seemed to grow tense once we were completely alone. My heart raced in my chest. What did he want to talk about?
“God it’s good to see you.” He said with a small smile.
He was standing a few feet from me. He was looking at me hesitantly like I wasn’t real. Like I’d lash out at him any second. As soon as I saw that in his eyes I ran to him. I threw myself against him so hard that he stumbled backwards into the wall. My arms wrapped tightly around his neck as his arms tightly wrapped around my back. He held me tightly against him. Neither of us said a word. We didn’t need to. My mind, body, and heart were overloaded. I had forgotten how it felt to hold him. To be held against him. To feel the heat radiating from him. A sob fell from my lips as I tightened my arms around him.
“I’m sorry” I cried into his neck.
“What?” He asked.
“I’m sorry I left you. I should have stayed. I should have stayed with you in the Glade. None of this would have happened if I would have just stayed with you.” I cried.
Gally stepped away from the wall carrying me with him. I felt his hands on the back of my thighs then he gently picked me up. He sat me on top the desk his drawings had once been hiding in. He pulled my arms away from him then grabbed each side of my face forcing me to look up at him.
“No Emi, you made the right choice. I was the idiot. When you asked me to come with you I should have dropped everything. I thought the Glade was my home but I was wrong. You’re my home. Seeing you again after all that time was as much of a shock to me as it was to you. What I saw was the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen. That I’d ever loved standing with my friend.” Gally took a breath as he let go of my face.
“What do you mean?” I asked softly.
“What I saw when you got out of that van was Fry immediately grabbing you. I saw the way he looked at you. I saw the way you clung to him. I need you to tell me and please be honest. Did you move on with Frypan? If you did I’m not going to be mad. I understand. You thought I was dead. You had every right to move on with your life. I just need to know.” Gally’s eyes started to water as he looked away from me.
I jumped off the desk then grabbed his shirt. I pulled him to me so I could crash my lips against his. Everything I was all that time ago in the Glade came right back to me. Every hope and dream I’d ever wanted for me and Gally.
“I’m not complaining but I don’t think that answered my question.” He whispered as he pressed his forehead against mine.
“No Gally, I never moved on. It took me a long time to make peace with you dying. Fry was there for me through it all. He was my support. I won’t lie that I did think when the time came and I was ready to move on it would have been with Fry. He knew where I stood and he respected it completely.” I explained softly.
He grabbed each side of my face then kissed me again.
“I never stopped loving you Em.” He whispered.
“I never stopped loving you Gally.” I told him.

I’m not gonna lie you guys I kinda feel like some of this is a bit forced but I honestly can’t tell so let me know what you think!

Tommy and the Newt Pt. 5
A rapid switch of perspectives – you should be able to guess whose it is by " Name thought" cues.
***
Minho was tired of Newt's whining. Sure, the boy (Thomas, was it?) was cute, but he was making a big deal out of nothing. Minho was usually very sensitive to his best friend's situation, but his behaviour was just pushing it and overly dramatic.
"Newt, please, just –––"
"I'm going to dinner, have Ava deliver dinner to Thomas."
Minho faked heartbreak. "No 'please'? You wound me!"
Newt rolled his eyes. Sometimes Minho thought that if it wasn't for him, Newt would be acting like a complete animal, with no human emotion except for hopelessness and savagery. There was no saying – if Newt didn't get his klunk together, he would actually become a beast instead of simply looking like one. In Minho's opinion, Thomas seemed the type to care not for looks and only for the person themself, and could be a potential future princess. Or prince. Or whatever.
"Deal with it, bugger."
"But seriously, Newt," Gally interjected. "I think you should invite Thomas to dine with you."
Newt groaned. "Not you too, Gally! He literally told Teresa he hates me!"
"That's probably since you locked his father in a cell and forced him to stay for eternity in exchange for his father's freedom. Give it some rest, Newt. How would you feel if –––" Newt cut him off at "how would you feel".
"Gally, stop giving me the empathy klunk," Newt muttered. "You! Giving me empathy klunk!" It was well known that Newt and Gally used to be enemies. Yes, Gally couldn't attempt anything since Newt was the prince and shucking with him would mean punishment, but he had his ways of getting back at Newt and vice versa. After the spell, there was no denying that Gally...was starting to care. Sure, some suspected that it was mostly having to do with the fact that without Newt, Gally would be stuck as an antique clock forever.
So, Minho took matters into his own hands. "Newt, he might actually like you if you just meet him!"
Newt buckled under the pressure. "Fine."
******
Newt was slouched at the head of the table, his fists on the sides and a mess in general. "Where is he! He –––"
"Newton," Ava said sharply. "You're not going to meet the poor boy with this attitude. My son will be free of this curse, and if he's one step closer when you cooperate with the boy... Be a gentleman!"
Newt groaned. "How do I do that?"
It was Minho's turn to groan inside his head. What happened to the etiquette lessons the late queen had forced him to take? "Back straight, head up, get Gally to fix your hair, anything?" Gally; Chuck, Ava's son who's a teacup; Jeff, who's a dinner plate; Harriet, who's a Piano; and Sonya, who's a feather duster all nodded vigorously. "Woo him!" Minho added. "He has to like you, remember?"
"How am I supposed to woo him?" Newt grumbled.
"Give him compliments!" Sonya yelled from the other side of the room.
"Kiss his hands," Ava gave her input. "Make him blush."
"Ugh!" Newt threw his hands (or rather, paws) up into the air. "Okay..." Newt did his best to put on a smile, but in Minho's opinion, it looked more like Newt was trying to eat him.
"A genuine smile?" Evidently, Ava thought the same. "And practice your compliments!"
Newt sighed. Minho thought it was rather dumb; he should stop being so grumpy and give the boy a chance. Maybe, just maybe, if he did, then the boy will like him. Perhaps they could get his happily ever after...
––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Against his wishes, he was dolled up for Thomas to oblige, dressed in all his regalia. Or, at least, that's what Minho and Gally told him. He knew he looked a fright, courtesy of the mirror near the end of the hall, but he didn't say anything. Newt didn't think this was the most pragmatic of all situations (since he could dine alone, still), but since he didn't think witches were real either, he's not really in a position to refute their claims.
"Will you stop fussing with the sleeves?" Ava yelled, her patience obviously reaching a limit. If there was anything Newt knew, it was to not infuriate Ava. Even back when Ava was a tutor and a servant (that was, before the curse), Newt was always intimidated by her when she told him to do his advanced sums. Besides, she had his parents wrapped around her pinky; Newt couldn't really do anything to complain...
"Fine, fine," Newt grumbled. "Gally, can you just...go already?"
Gally scurried away quickly, but not before throwing one final "you can do this!" look over his shoulder.
I can't, Newt thought. I can't and I'm letting all of you down. This curse is all because of me. What would Mother and Father think of me?
******
"Where is he!" Newt roared at Gally, who cowered. "Why isn't he here?" He paced around the dining room, ignoring the nervous looks the younger ones sent each other and ignoring Gally's pitiful stammerings, not allowing him a moment of speech.
"Newt!" Ava reprimanded sternly. "Let him speak if you are asking a question!"
"He said he wouldn't come!" Gally screamed quickly, snuffing the room into silence. "He said he wasn't hungry!"
"Come on," Newt muttered darkly to Gally. "He'd better be hungry when I get there..."
––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Gally followed on his (now short) legs, and he could see Minho and the others (who could move) were behind. Gally thought this was the worst way to approach things, and if he could, he would've been sweating already. Newt was definitely going to make Thomas afraid of staying here.
Originally, Gally was so sure that the boy would come to no harm in this castle, but now, he's not so certain. This is a battle for Newt's sanity, and no one knew who would win; the beast or the man. Or maybe it was the beast of the man – no one could be sure. Gally just wished things could be back to "normal", if he knew even what that was, anymore.
No, there hadn't been a "normal" for a long time, ever since the late King and Queen. The villages have slipped from the regency's grasp, Newt inherited the throne at the age of 16, and then everything went chaos. Whether that had to do with Newt's past ego or the instability of the kingdom, he didn't know (as much as he boasted, he was still just a servant), but everything went to chaos and the kingdom was in ruins. They had heard from the north and the far south that the towns themselves were okay; they could sustain themselves for a long time beyond.
It was frankly amazing that the villagers had managed to plough their own way through this mess, but then again, the kingdom was doomed anyway. Gally truly believed that Newt could find his true love, but with the way he'd been treating Thomas, it wasn't very possible.
"Why weren't you down to dinner!" Newt roared furiously at the door after raising his fist to pound on the wood fiercely. Minho, having caught up with Gally and Newt, winced. Sonya followed shortly behind, shaking her head dismissively at Newt – similar to Ava's reaction.
There were a jolt and a panicked shriek that followed a thud. "I'm not hungry!" Thomas yelled back at Newt, his voice sounding shaky.
"Newt!" Ava hissed. "You're scaring him!" Thomas wasn't the only one Newt was scaring, Gally noted. Chuck was huddled in his mama (as much as he could as a teacup) and Ava looked mutinous. "You have to be polite! Suave! This is certainly not your idea of a compliment, is it?" Ava scared him, and he was sure Newt was the same. No wonder why Ava had everyone under her pinky – she was proud like a queen.
Newt cleared his throat drily. "Could you come to dinner with me?"
"Ahem," Minho coughed. "We say 'please' in this house..."
"Please," Newt gritted out through his teeth, his voice distorted.
Thomas seemed to have caught that and their chatters, supposedly, since he released a snort of indignation. "I'm not hungry!"
"YOU WILL COME OUT NOW OR I'LL BREAK THIS DOOR DOWN!" Newt bellowed, his voice echoing in the hallways. Everyone winced again.
"Go ahead! It's not my door!" Thomas screamed back shrilly, his voice cracking into loud sniffles and a sob. "It's not like I have a choice, do I?" He added bitterly.
Gally figured it was time to do his portion. "Newt, that boy lost his father and liberty in one day! You should give him some decision."
"I don't think this is the way to win his affections," Sonya added. Her tone implied that she would rather be filling her nails (if she still had them, that is) rather than listening to Newt fail miserably. Equivalent to Sonya, Gally would rather be doing the identical, if not only he had not the slightest clue how to properly file his nails (and there was always the usual "we don't have nails anymore" klunk...great).
Newt sighed. This wasn't going well, obviously (not that Gally expected for it to go well). "Are you going to come out and eat with me, then?" Gally, Minho, Sonya, Chuck, and Ava all eyed each other disbelievingly. Was Newt serious? Did he actually think Thomas would come when he threatened to knock down his door 30 seconds ago?
"No!" Thomas' tone was as disbelieving as their expression exchanges. "Are you kidding me?"
"IF HE DOESN'T EAT WITH ME, HE DOESN'T EAT AT ALL!" Newt howled. The astounded looks of the servants mirrored each other – was Newt seriously doing this?
The tumultuous rackets of the boy sobbing wetly fragmented Gally's anticipations into bits. So far, this wasn't working very well. They needed a miracle.

Ignorance Is Bliss Part 2
Part two! But really the beginning of the story. As you can see from the first sentence, this is going to be a fun ride. 😀😬😬 Hope you enjoy!
Newt grabbed the gun from Thomas’ belt and brought it to his head.
“NO!” Thomas screamed and in the last second managed to push the gun away. It bounced away from the pair and Newt’s shadowed eyes followed it as it did. The other boy moaned, pushing him into the ground, and Thomas tried to breathe under Newt’s weight.
The ground was cold and hard as Thomas’ hit it, closing his eyes.
Thomas and Newt had fought alongside each other for a s long as Thomas could remember. And as he was being pushed to the ground, he refused to imagine that they were fighting against each other now.
He didn’t want to accept it, the thought that they were some sort of enemies. No. They were fighting the virus in his friend. That was what they were doing, Thomas wanted to claim.
But when Thomas opened his eyes, Newt was still on top of him, fighting him. Fighting an enemy.
His friend looked at him, and there was nothing but fury behind the blackened eyes. Newt screeched. Thomas would have covered his ears if he could. That sound- the sound that Newt had just made- Thomas hated it.
The screeches was something that they had all learned to hate. In the scorch, hearing that screech meant someone was going to die. Thomas wished it didn’t apply now.
He tried to keep the thought out of his mind, but the sound triggered that response in him, over and over again, until it was all he could think about.
Had they really fought and fought only for it to end here? Thomas couldn’t bear let that happen. He tried pushing away the image that entered his mind. The scenario could not happen. It could not be true. Newt was still in there, fighting.
Hands grabbed at Thomas’ chest and shoulders and neck. He yelped in pain and on instinct he threw the body that had been straddling him off himself. He immediately regretted it.
A thud signaled a landing, and Thomas rose to his feet to aid his friend, who was lying in a slump at the ground. What if he had pushed too hard? That fragile body could be bruised easily by such force, he thought.
Thomas swallowed. Newt still hadn’t risen. Every bone in Thomas’ body wanted him to go, check his friend of any injury, but he held back, knowing that Newt wasn't himself. He was dangerous. And though it killed him, Thomas waited for any sign of movement.
A static went through the air, white noise blurted out of speakers hidden somewhere around them, and Thomas was startled. He looked for an indicator of the noise, but there was none. It sounded almost as if someone had tried using a mic but failed.
When he returned his gaze to Newt, relief filled him, hand-in-hand with dread. The boy had risen. Faceing him directly, Newt was standing, a little wobbly, but he was standing.
“Newt? Newt.” He willed his voice to hold. He had to be the strong one, he knew, because Newt couldn't be. He had to level his head. How? How could he do that when the person who always steadied him was the one he had to keep away?
He knew that there was the risk that Minho wouldn't make it back in time, that Newt might be too far gone for anything less than an actual cure. Thomas didn’t believe such a thing existed.
But if he was wrong, then he would chain Newt down and find it, the cure, even if he had to squeeze it out of himself.
Newt was still standing quietly. He hadn’t moved. Thomas was unsure werther it was true or if he was just tricking himself, but he almost thought he could see the battle going on in his head. He’s still in there. His eyes seemed to focus and refocus, and his friend was still standing, without making a move to attack.
As the silence and stillness stretched over a minute, Thomas started to wonder. Should he use this time to get them further, should he act? Thomas didn’t have a clue to what he could do to increase their chances, but he knew he had to do something. He couldn’t simply stand there, doing nothing.
Just as Thomas made a move toward him, Newt snapped back to life, as if his motion had set him off. Thomas cursed himself, and watched his friend slip away again.
His eyes grew dim. And at the look of anger in Newt’s eyes, Thomas was sure. He did not know the boy who stood before him.
Tears were quietly sliding down Thomas’ face. He wasn’t sure when they had come. Newt, unaware of his emotions, was moving his hands, squaring his shoulders. He was preparing himself.
Thomas felt the lump in his throat rise, threatening to empty his stomach. Was there truly no turning back? He wanted his friend, he needed him. But Newt wasn’t there. Finally he was sent a look that ensured Thomas of the upcoming attack. And Newt wasn’t there.
He lurched, and Thomas was prepared. He hated it, but he was prepared to fight. They’d learned how together. Thomas took his stance, but before impact he came to a horrifying realisation.
Newt was carrying a knife.
He should have remembered, seeing how he was the one to gift him with it, but the option had slipped Thomas’ mind. The wicked thing gleamed as it was shoved through the air, and Thomas narrowly avoided being cut in half and he pushed to the right.
With its momentum, Newt’s uncontrollable body shot past his own and Thomas got a chance to catch his breath. Newt had gone for his heart, missing only by centimeters, and there was a rip in his shirt. No blood was staining it.
As he looked back, he saw the weapon still in his friend’s hands. Newt turned, and franticly limped for another attack. Ready, Thomas managed to get a hold of Newts shoulders and held him at an arm's length.
“Newt. Newt listen.” His voice cracked and Newt aimlessly swinged the blade again.
“You know me- I’m your Tommy, you know me, Ne-” His words were cut short.
The two boys stumbled apart, as a loud boom echoed throughout the city, rattling the earth.
Thomas’ head flailed around, trying to find the source of the deafening sound, and he pressed his hands to his ears. They hurt. Beside him, Newt seemed bothered as well, but he didn’t seem to understand because of what.
When Thomas cleared his head, ignoring what felt like the piercing of his eardrums, he found the source of the boom. He stopped short, and for a second even the boy before him went out of thought.
The WCKD compound. It was falling to pieces.
Thomas’ mind boggled as he drew his conclusion. The cranks. They had been with them in the city since shortly after they’d escaped the compound. But Thomas had never realised their intent, their motif.
To blow up the compound.
As if in slow motion, Thomas saw the tallest building in the city come apart in a million different pieces. He watched it implode, and a small part of him was glad. Was glad that the building would be erased from existence.
But then he came to the realisation he should’ve had from the start. He looked to Newt, who now had also understood the meaning of the loud noise, gazing at the fire in the sky. They had to get out of here.
Newt and Thomas had barely gotten away from the building because of Newts state. Thomas shivered at the thought. They were in the splash-zone.
When debris and stone and glass came down, they would be drenched. They would be squashed.
And so were the others, Thomas realised sternly. So would Minho. So would Gally. And so would Brenda and Frypan, depending on the stage in their plan.
Thomas felt himself glued to the street. They had to get out of there. Would Minho have the sense to run back? Gally would. Thomas thought, somewhat bitterly. Brenda… might. But Minho? Thomas doubted it.
As he thought on, Thomas swallowed, coming to another realisation.
Teresa.
She was still in the building. Thomas gazed upon it, imagining he could see her through one of the tiny far-away windows. She was as good as dead.
But Thomas didn’t have time to speculate about how his friends were faring. Not when he too, was at risk. They would never forgive him for dying. And he would never forgive himself for letting Newt do so, either.
So Thomas grabbed Newt by the hand, ignoring everything that was at risk. Within seconds they could be flattened to the ground- there was no point to worrying about Newt’s reaction. He got a firm grip on his friends hand, and almost felt as if the grip was returned.
They ran as the first piece of debris hit the ground.

I’ll carry you home - Newt x Reader x Gally.
I’ll carry you home
Gally x Reader / Newt x Reader.
WARNING : SPOILERS FROM THE DEATH CURE. DON’T READ IF YOU DIDN’T SEE THE MOVIE NOR READ THE BOOK.
Wes Ball answered someone’s question on Twitter : What happened to Newt’s body ? » « - I always imagined Minho and the rest scooped him up in their arms and brought him to the safe haven where he could be at peace for the rest of their days. »
So I decided I’d write an Imagine in which it happens, because I can’t bear the fact that Newt’s body could have stayed in the Last City, in this completely destroyed place. Because to me, if Wes said he imagined it that way, then, it happened that way.
———-
This last few hours had been extremely stressful for you. You were with Brenda and the boys in the Berg George and Vince had brought. Since you got out of the Maze, Newt and you had developed a strangely close relationship: you did have feelings for him, and he did show you, more than once, that it was the same for him. Unfortunately, before he went with the group in the WCKD building, he explained you that he wasn’t immune. At first, you didn’t understand what it meant. Then, you just burst into tears. Newt was getting sicker as the minutes went by.
You weren’t with them in the building, and it had been now hours since you last saw Newt. You were anxious, you were hoping so badly that you would see him again. But when Minho and Gally appeared on this roof, where the Berg had landed, you started to truly freak out. You ran with them, joined by Brenda, who had the serum, and Fry. You ran like you never did, starting to loose your mind: Newt was in bad shape, if he wasn’t with them. He could be dying right now, and you weren’t with him.
But when you arrived in the building where Thomas and Newt were, you immediately stopped.
Newt was on the ground, a dagger stuck in his chest. His eyes were wide opened, and Thomas was crying, in obvious shock.
“No… No, no, no! Newt!”
You ran to him, kneeling next to Thomas and Newt’s dead body. You cried, cried, and you barely saw Minho and Fry joining you. Thomas got up and left, but once again, you didn’t pay attention to the movements that occurred next to you. Gally came behind you, putting his hand on your shoulder. At first, you wanted to repel him, but he sat there and hold you in his arms. It seemed like everything was quiet. The boys were crying to, but you were the only one who screamed. It just hurt so much. You couldn’t believe this, you couldn’t believe Newt was gone. You couldn’t believe you hadn’t been with him.
Brenda was the only one who managed to pull herself together.
“- Guys, we have to go. Thomas left and I have no idea where he went, but he probably went in the WCKD building. We have to go get him.
- We can’t leave Newt here!”
You raised your head, staring at her, mad at her because she was rushing you all, as if she didn’t realize you just lost your closest friend.
Minho looked at you, wiping his eyes and cheeks.
“- No we can’t, (Y/N). That’s why we’ll be taking Newt with us.”
Slowly, you tried to pull yourself together. You stood straight and leaned over Newt, closing his eyes. You kissed is forehead and stood up. Gally put one of his hands against your back, and he was gently caressing it. Minho and Fry carried Newt’s body all the way to the Berg, and no one spoke.
The journey to the Safe Haven had been pretty long. The boys didn’t say anything, Thomas was unconscious, and you didn’t leave Newt’s side. Sometimes, Gally came to make you sure were well. When you finally arrived, you were the last one inside the Berg. The boys took Newt and made sure he would be buried respectfully. When Gally noticed you didn’t came out of the Berg yet, he came back to you.
“- (Y/N)… You have to get out of here. Have some water, something to eat.
- And how could I?
- I’m here to help you. Minho, Fry, Brenda… We’re all by your side. Please, come with me.”
You looked at him, and then you remembered something. Something you didn’t think about in years. The day you arrived into the Glade. The day you saw Gally for the first time. He had been quite mean with you, he had rushed you to get out of the Box. But you also remembered that as the days went by, you felt something for him. He had something that attracted you. Well, it was before he acted like an ass with Thomas anyway.
And then, you fell in love with Newt. It wasn’t a very strong heart you had in there, wasn’t it? Or maybe the boys you encountered were just too perfect.
“- Gally…”
He turned to you, now facing you. You could see in his eyes that he was broken, too.
“- Gally, I fell in love with you. Before we left the maze, with Thomas and the others.”
He stood there, silent, apparently not understanding what it really meant for him. But you had to tell him what you felt, you had to empty your heart from all these emotions.
“- I… I wanted to tell you, you know. But you acted like an ass, and then we left the maze, you killed Chuck… You have no idea what we’ve been through, before we ran into you again. And you’ve probably been through shitty stuff too. While you got saved by Lawrence, we had to flee from Wicked again. I fell in love with Newt, he did too… But we never had time to really talk about it. And then Teresa betrayed us, we got here… And we found you again.”
You looked at him, waiting for a reaction, an answer, anything.
“- I’m sorry, (Y/N). I never meant to kill Chuck. And I was destroyed when I saw you, leaving me back there, dying. But it’s in the past, right? We gotta think about Newt for now, because he deserves to… No, don’t cry, please, don’t…”
He scratched the back of his head and came in front of you, before holding you in his arms. He gave you a long, warm, reassuring hug.
“- I loved you too, you know. I think that’s why I became such an idiot. I didn’t know how to deal with my feelings, I couldn’t understand what it was, why I felt it. And now, I realize I still have them. Silly, right?”
You didn’t answer, holding him tightly. And after a few minutes, Minho and Fry came back into the Berg, haven’t seen you coming back to them.
“We found something for Newt. Can we do this, all together?”
With a nod, Gally took your hand, and you both went outside with your old friends to say good bye to Newt, The Glue that held you all together.

'Cause We'll Hold Each Other Soon (In the Blackest of Rooms)
[a snippet of a tmr:tdc fic idea I can't shake - an AU Thomas/Newt role reversal)
"Oh, Tommy... Tommy, no."
The black veins snaking up the side of Thomas's ribs - like dark vines grasping from out of nowhere, pulling Thomas away from him - are unmistakable in their origin.
And yet Thomas smiles that telling smile of his - so bold, always; so heartbreaking at this moment - at Newt.
"I guess this explains a lot, right?"
"I suppose it does," slips past Newt's numb lips, but it does and then it doesn't.
Thomas has been anxious since they've reached the city. Impatient. He is never the most patient of souls, of course, and it's Minho they've to be anxious about, so of course that makes a difference... But.
There's an urgency to his impatience now. An intolerance that Newt now realizes he has not been imagining. And earlier, discussing Teresa, Thomas was more than short with him and the others, as Thomas sometimes is when he feels that a task should be progressing much faster, much better ( failing, Thomas seems to believe, through his fault alone.)
Rather, tonight Thomas behaved downright hostile. Towards all of them but perhaps especially towards Newt, if Newt's not mistaken - his hurt at the dark fury in Thomas's fever-bright eyes, the aggressive posturing that Thomas has never struck with Newt before - influencing his interpretation of Thomas's behavior.
"Tommy..."
Nothing could truly explain how this makes sense, however. Not to Newt. Thomas is their leader. If he denies it a thousand times more it will remain the truth. He is the bravest and the boldest among them. He cannot be lost to them now; they cannot lose him this way.
Newt cannot lose him this way. To the Flare. It simply cannot happen.
"It doesn't change anything," Thomas says quickly - emphatically, as though arguing against whatever he believes to be going on inside Newt's head, not that Newt has any idea what that should be. Horror has all but wiped his mind clean. "I can still get you to WCKD. I can get you to Minho. You know me, Newt. If I didn't think you could still use me, I wouldn't even be here."
Oh, but everything has changed - because Newt does know Tommy. He knows exactly how that daft, dangerous, beautiful mind works, and he hasn't missed that now, Thomas says 'you' not 'we'. He knows exactly where Thomas is implying he would be if not here, by Newt's side.
He wants to break with the knowing.
But he bloody can't, now can he?
Not when it would mean leaving Tommy to the cruel fate that he has apparently resigned himself to as if he has that right.
As if he thinks that Newt could do this, any of this, without him.
As if he has somehow mistakenly adopted the assumption that Newt would ever want to.
...
[I do NOT know these characters well enough to write anything long with them, wtf am I even doing with this idea :p]

Puzzle Is Completed - Newt Imagine
Fandom: Maze Runner
Pairing: Newt x Reader
~(Y/N)’s pov~
“Y/N!” I hear a voice of my boyfriend calling me and I sigh. I put down the potato I was peeling and tell Frypan I’ll be back soon.
“Yes?” I stand behind him. Gally turns around and shots me a quick smile before speaking again.
“Can you please go tell Newt that we need more tools from creators? This shanks are breaking everything.” He says.
“Gally I have a job too, I was just cooking dinner but I left because you called me.” I say and he sighs.
“I’m sorry Y/N, I’m just really busy, have to keep everything in control.” I can tell he’s stressed out so I give in.
“It’s alright, I’ll go tell Newt.” I say and he kisses my check.
“Thanks Y/N, I’ll make it up to you later.” He grins and I force a little smile. I head towards the gardens where I know I’ll find Newt. And just as I predicted he’s there working hard in his orange tanktop.
“Hey Newt.” I smile when he turned around to look at me.
“Oh hey Y/N/N. What’s up?” He brightens up when he saw me and I can’t help but do the same.
“Nothing much, I was just cooking dinner before Gally interrupted me.”
“Yeah I think the whole Glade heard it.” He chuckles and I look down for a second with a little smile, “What did he want?”
“He wanted me to tell you that they need more tools from creators.” I say and he nods, his face suddenly falling.
“Alright. I’ll put it on the list. Anything else?” He asks and I shake my head.
“That’s it. Anyways um..if you finish early you can come to the kitchen to keep me company, if you want of course.” I blush and he smiles.
“I’ll be there.” He says and I smile back.
“Alright then, um, I’ll see you later.” I say backing away and he waves with a smile. I turn around and leave towards the kitchens.
I’m a mess around Newt and I can’t do anything about it. I have a boyfriend, but I’m in love with someone else. I’m in love with Newt. I love how he truly cares about me while Gally mostly calls me when he needs something, I love Newt’s sweet side which is a total contrast of Gally’s short temper..I just love Newt. I feel really bad about it because I know that I can’t be with Gally forever, not when I love someone else. I feel really bad because I don’t want to hurt him but I can’t control my feelings. But the biggest question is does Newt loves me back.
~Newt’s pov~
I watch Y/N as she makes her way towards the kitchens and I can’t help but wish that she is mine. I always loved her, and I still do. I was crushed when I found out that she started dating Gally but I guess it was my fault, I didn’t have courage to ask her to be my girlfriend and he did. If I could change anything, it would be that, I would ask her. Lately I noticed that she’s not that happy as she used to be, not around him or anyone for that matter, except me. That gave me hope again and now I have that spark of hope inside of me that she might love me, despite everything that’s getting in the way.
I finish my work as fast as I can so I can go to Y/N. When I enter the kitchens I see her chopping the onion and I approach her.
“Hey love.” I say without thinking and my eyes instantly widen while I curse myself silently.
“Oh hey Newtie, you came.” She says softly and I look at her to see her smiling.
“Of course I did. So do you need any help?” I ask her and she looks around.
“No, I don’t think I do. Frypan and I finished everything, all that is left is this salad I’m making now. Fry left to set up everything.” She replies.
Y/N and I talked and had fun before the dinner time came around and everyone started coming. I offered to help her take everything out and once everything was settled both of us took our own plates. Then we heard Gally calling Y/N and she sighed before looking at me apologetically, I nod and say I’ll wait for her at my table if she wants to sit with me. My table is not far from the one Gally’s sitting at so I can hear what he and Y/N are talking about.
“Bring me some food, I’m dead tired.” Gally says to Y/N and she looks at him with her mouth slightly open.
“It’s not that far you know, you can take it by yourself.” Y/N says back and Gally looks at her seriously.
“Just give me the damn plate.” He says and she turns around angrily, grabs a plate for him, comes back and drops his plate in front of him.
“There.” She says through gritted teeth and comes to sit next to me.
“Are you okay?” I ask her putting my hand on her back and she takes a deep breath.
“Yeah.” She smiles but I know that this smile is a mask, a cover for everything she’s truly feeling.
“Y/N you deserve better than him.” Thomas says from his spot in front of her.
“We don’t know if you want someone else or even if you truly like him but we do know that you deserve to be happy, you deserve to be treated like a princess.” Minho adds and she sighs.
“Can we please just talk about something else?” She asks and looks at me, I nod not wanting to push her into anything that she’s not comfortable with.
“How was your run guys?” I ask Thomas and Minho, changing the subject.
------------
“Y/N can we talk?” Gally comes to our table after some time and we all look at him.
“Talk. These are my friends, I have nothing to hide from them.” She says and I see Gally clenching his jaw. I want to say something to defend the girl I love but her current boyfriend beats me to it.
“Outside.” He says simply and she rolls her eyes before standing up.
“I’ll be right back guys.” She says with a small smile, taking a longer look at me before leaving. Or being dragged by Gally.
“I won’t leave her alone with him.” I say standing up and following them.
“If you need anything just call us.” Thomas says and I nod.
“What the hell was that?! You not doing what I told you, throwing the plate and sitting with that losers!” Gally shouts at Y/N and I stand behind a wall so they can’t see me.
“I’m not your maid Gally! You just call me when you need something or when you want to show off. You think I’m going to do everything you tell me, well news flash, I won’t! I’m not your fucking maid and you can’t tell me what to do, you can’t boss me around. If you really love me then you would care for me for real, not just when someone else is around!” Y/N yells back with tears in her eyes and I can’t help but feel sad, she’s not treated the way she’s supposed to be treated, she’s not treated like a princess she is.
“Well I don’t love you!” Gally shots back and my eyes widen. Y/N calms down and wipes her tears away.
“You know you just made it a lot easier for me. I don’t love you either, I never did. We’re over.” She says and Gally laughs.
“Trust me, we are.” He says and they both turn around going separate ways. Gally goes back inside while Y/N goes into the woods. I go after her and find her sitting on the grass, her back leaning on the tree.
“Mind if I join you?” I ask her and her head snaps at my direction. She calms down when she sees that it’s me.
“No, come sit.” She says I take a sit next to her.
“I heard you two, hope you’re not mad, I just couldn’t leave you alone with him after seeing that he’s getting mad.” I say and she closes her eyes.
“It’s okay, I’m not mad.” She says back.
“Are you okay? Honestly.” I ask her and she opens her eyes, sighing.
“No. Haven’t been for quiet some time now. It’s not because of Gally, well okay maybe a little, but mainly because I’m in love with someone else. And without him I feel empty, the worst thing is that I don’t know if he feels the same.” She confesses and I feel my heart speeding up. Was it because of hope that this guy might be me or something else, I don’t know.
“How does he make you feel?” I ask her and she smiles looking anywhere but me.
“He makes me feel safe. When I’m with him I feel like I have the whole world, I don’t need anything else. No one matters when I’m with him, I feel like that one piece of a puzzle that was missing is put back into it’s place.” She talks about him with such love in her voice and I know that she truly is in love with him. I pray to God that I’m the guy. And this time I’m about to find out.
“I need to tell you something.” I start and she looks at me.
~(Y/N)’s pov~
“I love you. I love you for such a long time that I don’t know how I made it this far without you. I would do anything for you, I would treat you like a princess you are. You deserve the world and I would do anything to give you one. I care about you and when you are hurt and sad, I am too. You are always on my mind. I’m madly in love with you Y/N.” Newt says to me and I look at him not believing.
“Newt I..I love you too. You are the guy I was talking about.” A smile breaks onto both of our faces. We crash our lips against each others, waiting to do so for a long time. Every emotion, everything that we feel for each other, we put it into this kiss.
“I love you so much. Please be mine.” Newt whispers after we pulled away. I lean my forehead on his and smile.
“Of course I’ll be yours, I love you too.” I reply and we kiss again.
“Get some rest, I’ll be right here.” My love says and wraps his arms around me while I lean my head on his shoulder, soon falling asleep, finally happy.
-Tomorrow-
I look at Newt with a smile and he winks at me. Then I see Gally approaching me and my smile disappears. I look at Newt for a second and then back at Gally.
“Why is everyone talking about you and Newt?” Gally asks and I see Newt coming.
“Because it’s true.” I answer.
“What?! So you dumped me because of that shank?!” Gally yells.
“No! I broke up with you because you treated me like shit! Newt cares about me, he always did, unlike you.” I shout back and he grits his teeth.
“Gally leave her alone.” Newt comes to us and Gally turns to him. I see that he wants to punch him so I quickly push him as hard as I can.
“Don’t even think about punching him.” I threaten and he looks at me angrily.
“You two deserve each other.” He says and leaves. I turn to Newt and he hugs me.
“It’s finally over.” He kisses my temple and I nod.
------------
“I’m actually happy for you. Really.” I hear a voice behind me as I cook lunch and I turn around to see Gally standing at the door.
“Seriously?” I ask and he nods coming closer.
“Yeah. I thought about everything and realized I did treated you bad. You deserve better and I know Newt will treat you better. I’m happy if you are happy. And I’m really sorry about everything.” He says and I smile.
“Thanks Gally, it means a lot.” I say and he smiles back.
“So we can stay friends, right?” He grins and I chuckle.
“Yeah, we can stay friends.” I reply and we share a hug before he leaves. Finally everything came to it’s place, and I’m finally happy. Every piece of a puzzle is in it’s place, creating a beautiful picture.

The Death Cure Section Two
Chapters 23-46
1. Upon being admitted into Denver, who approaches the group? What does his note say and who is it from?So almost as soon as the four are in Denver, this guy appears out of the crowd and says they know that some people escaped from WICKED and highly recommends they accept the advice he's about to give them. He says they have nothing to be afraid of because they're only asking for help and the group will be protected when they arrive. Then he hands them a note that says "You need to come meet me immediately--I'm with a group called the Right Arm. Corner of Kenwood and Brookshire, Apartment 2792." It's from Gally.
2. According to Gally, what are their two problems? According to Gally their two problems are these: One, the Flare is running rampant through Denver. Apparently there's a bunch of corruption and the city is covering it up because the people who have it are government bigwigs and they're using Bliss to cover it up. But it's infecting other people and it's a matter of time before it takes down the whole city. And the second problem is that Munies are going missing. No one knows if they're being kidnapped or running away but they're disappearing into thin air. Gally says that a little birdie told him that they're being sold to WICKED so they can continue the Trials and even start over if they have to. Thomas reasons that maybe they're being killed since Munies are generally pretty hated. But Gally reveals that he trusts his little birdie because it's Teresa.
3. What happens when Hans is preparing to remove the controlling the device from Thomas? So apparently Thomas's device had a fail-safe and when it knew Hans was going to cut it out, it took over Thomas's body. So he started trying to fight everyone and leave and yelling "I can't let you do this!" even though Thomas wanted Hans to cut it out. But Thomas couldn't even control his own body and even though he didn't want to fight anyone with him, they all had to restrain him until Hans could sedate him and start the operation.
4. How does Thomas escape Red Shirt? What does he find out about himself? About Newt? So the Red Shirt is just loading Thomas into the car when one of the Cop Machines rounds the corner. Thomas points it out but the Red Shirt doesn't seem concerned. He says that Cop Machines see stuff like this every day and they're more on his side than they are on Thomas's. So Thomas gets in the car but then suddenly there's machine gun fire and the Red Shirt falls down dead. Thomas gets back out of the car and Janson appears on a screen on the cop machine and tells Thomas he needs to come back to WICKED. He says that they've decided Thomas is the Final Candidate for the Trials so he's literally the only person they actually need to find the cure. He also tells Thomas that it seems Newt is succumbing to the Flare faster than most and if Thomas doesn't come back, Newt will die. But if Thomas will come back and finish the Trials, they might be able to save Newt.
5. What is found when the group returns to the Berg for Newt? When they open the ship, Newt doesn't immediately greet them so they know something is wrong. Plus the air conditioning and the lights are both off which means he probably isn't there. Then Minho finds a note that reads "They got inside somehow. They're taking me to live with the other Cranks. It's for the best. Thanks for being my friends. Goodbye."
6. When Minho and Thomas find Newt, what does he say to them? He can't believe they came for him and he's honestly mad about it. He says that he doesn't want them to watch him lose his mind and succumb to the Flare. And he keeps saying that Thomas failed him??? So he tells them to leave or he'll shoot them. He also says that a bunch of the Cranks in the compound are planning on going into Denver later and he's planning on going with them...
7. What does Newt’s note to Thomas say? Newt's note says "Kill me. If you've ever been my friend, kill me." He knew when he wrote it that he never wanted to be a Crank and he never wanted to totally lose his mind. And that's why he kept saying that Thomas failed him. Because Thomas walked out of there and left Newt alive. 8. Who is really taking the Immunes? The Right Arm is actually taking the Immunes. Which is strange since they're all supposed to be on the same side...
Section Two Reading Journal
Okay, so. This is turning out to be a quick and interesting read. I am honestly fascinated by everything happening in this story right now. What is Right Arm, really? Will there ever be a cure?? Will humanity truly be wiped out by the Flare? And we only have, like, a hundred pages to solve this?
I’m also aLREADY UPSET about Newt. Though that raid that the Cranks are planning means we’ll definitely be seeing him again. But in what state??? Also. Was so unbelievably upset about his note to Thomas. It’s fine. EXCEPT IT’S NOT.
So. Yes. I’m invested in this story. I’m glad I’m finally reading it. And I can’t wait to finish this!! (But also I can wait because ew endings suck and I’m also not ready for what I’m probably about to find in this last section.) See you on the other side.
