Who is he?

Who is this monk? , I've been rewatching dr and was thinking about him , like if I have to choose a character from the cloud kingdom I would choose him rather than the master of wind (why would they do this morro is still there!!!) and the other monks . In the credits he's named monk#1 (i think) and I wanted a name for him , especially after the master of the green boogers scene.

Ok, there's something about Ras ordering Cinder to kill the Cloud Monks that makes it feel darker than usual in Ninjago.

Of course, villains are always talking about killing the ninja, but that's just it. They're talking about killing the ninja.

And even when they talk about killing innocent people, there's something different about the way they say it and their body movements that make it feel a little less dark.

But with Ras telling Cinder to destroy the Cloud Kingdom, and by extension the Cloud Monks, he literally tells him "I said everything".

Plus, when Ras says this, for one, we see Cinder laugh and smile in a very devious way, and the Cloud Monks start whimpering in fear, unable to do anything to stop it at all, unlike other threatened characters who can somewhat fight, even if not that well.

One Ninjago HC I have is that once upon a time, the cloud kingdom monks Could see the future, but the talent has been watered down over the centuries, but traditions haven't adapted or changed, leading to the manipulation of the monks to think what their doing is 'Writing Destiny' when in fact this hasn't been the case for centuries.

Also Euphrasia unlocks a weaker version of this upon reaching her true potential.

Fuck the way the Wolf Mask warriors just abruptly kick down the Cloud Kingdom monks when they invade the kingdom.

It's not all out brutal like other fight scenes but the easy defeat plus the Cloud monks unable to fight back makes it brutal, y'know?

Plus there's something different about the Wolf warriors' movements in that "fight" (if you could even call it a fight), probably due to the utter ease of it.

Tonight on "Boring Worldbuilding Theories Only I Care About":

So characters are often seen saying things like "gee" and " jeez", which doesnt really make sense at a surface level bc both of those terms have Christian roots, being short for "jesus." Similarly, words like "gosh" and "golly" are a euphemism for "god", and exist as an alternative to "saying the lord's name in vain" - a concept that originated from the Bible and is to my knowledge exclusively Christian/Christian-adjacent.

The problem is, Christianity doesnt exist in Ninjago (outside of that one time Kai went on an acid trip and invented Christmas with the power of hallucination). So that means jeez/gee and gosh/golly had to have entered their lexicon in a different way.

"Gosh" is perhaps the easiest to explain. It probably has a similar linguistic function in Ninjago as it does in our world - after all, it doesnt seem too outlandish to conclude that there are religious rhetorics in-universe that discourage the speaking of godly names. Of course Ninjago does seem to be a predominantly secular society now - relying on religion for tradition and culture, but the actual observance of faith seems largely restricted to monks and select demographics - so it's likely that the practice of godly euphemisms may have over time disseminated from religious praxis into broader cultural colloquialism.

Although that does certainly raise the question about cultural variation in the characters who swear by the FSM's name like Wu and I think Pixal once, whereas characters like Ed and Jay use godly euphemisms - gosh, golly, etc. Were these religious sects more prominent in some regions than others? Ed and Jay, who use the euphemisms, both hail from the Sea of Sand - was this desert once within the territory of one of these euphemistic groups? And did these groups all follow the same faith but as part of different sects, or were they different religions altogether? Much to think about.

But as for gee and jeez...well, what if they're shortened versions of "wojira"? We know she was the prevailing deity back before the FSM showed up and defeated her, and is still worshipped in places like the Island of the Keepers. Perhaps, when her acknowledgement was more ubiquitous, her name was similarly used as a form of exclamation - but over time, due to cultural and linguistic evolution, the exclamation became shortened to things like "jeez" and "gee".

TRMaBD AU Talk

To distract myself from anguish, Here is the official sketches from my Au: "The Red Monkie and Blue Dragon" of the outfits Jay and Kai wear throughout the show!

I decided to give the more seasonal fits than I nthe show. Overall They only had two official fits they worse when they weent temporarily changing clothes(well Mei only had the one) so I decided to spice it up by giving Kai and Jay more official fits

Jay

Since Jay replaces Mei I wanted him to have have a moment In S1 where he discovers his heritage(how he does find out ill explain in another post) and after S1 concludes, he decides to show off said heritage by wearing the suit given to him by his extended family!

Hence why S2-3 he is wearing something similar to Mei's bike suit. In S4-5 he has grown used to his heritage and as such doesn't feel the need go really show it off as much and so he's wearing something more simple. He also missed wearing his scarf so that's why he has it back on.

That's the meaning in show, but in actuality for the S4-5 outfit i just mixed the S1-3 outfits together lol

I also wanna say that I know the dragon of the west is green and Mei is green but I decided to follow my headcanon I have for Jay. In my canon of Ninjago I hc that Jay still has snake traits from OBTS and he's a Venomari, but his snake traits r blue due to his element. If he didn't have his element he would be green. I applied said hc here. If he didn't have his Lightning element he would be the usual green that Mei's family has. He's essentially the outlier in that regard. The sword is also blue because Jay influences its color with his element

Kai really has no explanation for his fits frfr I just thought they fit him and they look nice so yea lol.

Kai after he finds out his origins and becomes monke actually does gain a monke tail and his sideburns outside his monke form. I also gave him some brown skin instead of the yellow MK has in his monkey form. I just like it more

I'm happy to get back into this au it was the very first one I made since watching LMK and I have since falling in love with it. I plan on showing yall so much more that I did for the au including fun screenshit redraws(my current fav thing) so of ur interested in the au keep an eye out!

Hey! I know this will sound like, not something you would expect and I understand that, but could you do headcannons about Morro having a daughter?

I honestly was thinking about how he would be as a parent, but you can also do it if he was still hellbent on proving he is the green ninja and dying, leaving his daughter to live with Wu (bc he doesn't have anyone else).

Wu having to raise his (Pseudo?) Grand daughter and the challenges that come with it.

Maybe even Morro just, coming back on the Days of the departed to spend time with his daughter?

Morro's daughter {Ninjago Headcanons}

• Before turning into a ghost, he was the sweetest father to his precious little princess, who was his only light in life. (other than the idea of being the green ninja)

° Instead of spending much time together, he often put her to watch him train under Wu's supervision. Having both of their eyes on the younger child to make sure no harm could be inclifted.

• At some point, his focus fell from you, then more to the dream and goal about the green suit that he oh so wished to wear. Which meant the others at the monastery would take turns taking care of you.

° Feeling immense guilt for not spending time the more he mentally fell into a deep hole of self-destruction.

• Still occasionally reading you to sleep and giving small forehead kisses whenever he passed, tucking you in and just standing there feeling like a failure as both a father and to become the green ninja.

° One day was his last crack he ran away to show his worth in being the best version of himself, but sadly was unsuccessful and died in the process.

[After death]

° Cursing himself out every single waking minute for his mistakes of when he was alive, you cried many night after hearing the news and he made sure to watch over you even if no one could see nor feel him there.

• Seeing that the monks and Wu are taking care of you like their own, making he feel at ease. He trusted Wu with his blood and flesh until he could come back around.

° One time a year, morro was able to leave the real of the cursed and would spend the whole day with you when he was finally being seen.

• Spending the day playing little bored games or playing with dolls, having fun nonetheless, which is all he wished and wanted.

° Tucking you into bed that night and leaving a small note about how much he loves you every year and slowly covers the mirror in your bedroom.

• At some point, his daughter was able to understand how this all worked and looked forward to that one day every year. Giving him small artefacts to bring back to the realm where he stayed in the meanwhile.

° Let's be honest. Wu knows that morro is there even if not visible to the human (and non-human) eye.
