#dragon age#literarily the blight is consistently and sort of weirdly treated like...socioeconomic natural disaster?#not like. unfathomable uncontrollable unpredictable WWZ or 28 Days Later horror#I mean i know there is a long history of cyclical Blights and sporadic darkspawn incursions but I still find it fascinating Carver's-#-more irritated at his family not appreciating how far he had to run and how long-#rather than like the fact he saw the dawning of this age's unfathomable horror and ran from it in wailing survivalist panic-terror#after his king's death and a major betrayal. maybe it's a ferelden thing lol#*narrator voice* in a land of feudal and religious atrocities the darkspawn come as a relief#finally a clearly demarcated and uncomplex Enemy! definitely an evil one there. Kill it!
