#OF MONSTERS AND MEN: musings.#YOUR NEED GREW TEETH: character study.#ooc post.#OOF... if you can't already tell i am in an angsty mood this morning#because what do you meannn barton thinks that loving him also means you'll suffer in some way shape or form AHHH#i mean... okay - whenever you look at it - factually? most of the relationships that barton has been in have caused suffering yes.#but i feel like no relationship is perfect and so it's inevitable that someone is going to hurt. however the problem lies in that#barton is so confident that he will be the cause of it because he hasn't tried hard enough to be a good person and umm.#i have complicated thoughts about that because like on one hand he could've gone against what his father told him yes...#but does he have structural changes to his brain that make him more prone to aggression and to not be able to experience fear-#'correctly?' also yes. and did barton ever truly get the help that he needed both due to his own intervention + other people such as winslow#not like... really recognizing that the problem was bad enough to warrant professional intervention? yeahhh.#no. so it's complicated like i said BUT i just find it a bit sad that barton has always had this belief pretty much ever since he was a kid#): because to a degree i think that barton might've blamed himself for his own bio father's behavior whenever him being a#bad person was not his fault at all
