I just saw Six live (the ex-wives of Henry VIII musical), and I think I strained my voice from elated cheering, so let the record state: in the late Fourth Age, when they’re all alive (again), finally none of them are the currently elected High King nor have any other pressing duties, and they’ve all sufficiently reconciled to agree to this and sustain it without unbearable rancor, the seven* historical non-elected High Kings of the Noldor go on a musical apology/self-defense tour that is nominally a competition for who had the most epic tragic and/or heroic story—and, of course, death.
*Finwë, Fëanor, Maedhros, Fingolfin, Fingon, Turgon, Gil-Galad, Finarfin. Turgon’s inclusion is essentially, by design, an ongoing test of Fëanor’s temperamental tolerance of being arguably correct (in saying Turgon doesn’t count) but technically incorrect, and moreover outvoted.

Jimmy Day 2021 and the Upcoming Project
Jimmy’s 3rd anniversary kind of snuck up on me this year, probably because of the persistent feelings of doom and frustration over the pandemic.  I hope everyone who reads this is doing well in spite of everything.
Anyway, let’s talk about Jimmy!  I want to take a second to thank those of you who have treasured this game.  It never found a wide audience, but it did find an audience who cares for it deeply, and that means a lot to me.  I don’t have a lot of Jimmy-related news, but I do want to touch on a few things.  First, the vinyl is, as far as I’m aware, still being produced on schedule.  Hopefully, we’ll have pre-orders up in September which is next (!) month.  I’ve also been putting off updating Jimmy for a while, but I do plan on taking the time to do so once I reach the next stage of development on the next game.
Speaking of the next game, let’s talk about it a little (or a lot)!  I’ve been holding details close to my chest on it, but I want to give a few generalities on what to expect from this one.  It’s going to be another RPG, but the look and feel are going to differ from Jimmy.  It’s set on a planet inhabited by insectoid people who are mostly sociopathic, so the vibe is going to be way different.  I was inspired really heavily by the Lennus series on this one.  Like in Lennus, most of your characters are mercenaries, so they have their own motivations and self-interest, meaning they might turn against you, rob you, extort you, etc.
Although Lennus was the primary inspiration, the actual gameplay is going to be way different.  The level design, for instance, is going to be more like Chrono Trigger, where enemy encounters are on the screen and can mostly be avoided.  I’ve been playing a lot with the encounters, so I hope that their variety will keep people engaged.  Inside of battle, they’ll vary from Chrono Trigger--basically it’s going to be a combination of FF10′s visible turn order with Breath of Fire 3′s Ex turn system--with a few other wrenches in the works that I don’t want to get into yet.  But, this is one of the reasons I’ve been really excited to get away from RPG Maker.  Combat’s going to be deep with a lot of room for strategy, and I’m giving players a lot of options on how they form their parties and equip their characters.  If you thought Jimmy had a lot of interesting equipment options, this game’s going to blow you away!
The story structure is also going to be unique.  I’ve always been fond of the SaGa games, and I’m taking a page from their book and having multiple playable characters--four.  They’re all going to have their own stories and functions in the world, and their stories are broken into two parts.  The player will get a chance to play all of their first acts in a more linear, guided way (although there will be room for exploration for sure), and, after that, the player will be able to select a character to finish the game with.  Their final chapters will be much more open, like the World of Ruin in Final Fantasy 6, and, after beating a character’s game, the player can go back to the halfway point and select again if they would like.  Each character’s late game will contain some unique dungeons, variances on a lot of the dungeons shared between characters, and a unique plot and dialogue (including town NPCs).
It’s a large, ambitious game, which is why it’s taking so long to get out there.  The amount of planning I’ve done here is insane.  I have composed an 87 song soundtrack (this count will likely get larger), 600+ pages of dialogue for the main script, 750 pages (and counting) of dialogue for NPC dialogue, spreadsheets of data about equipment, monsters, magic, skills, etc., and around 60 levels (and counting) mapped out.  Actually, here’s a little visual aid about how I’ve been mapping out levels:
Tumblr media
This is an optional late-game level called Nightmare Garden.  Each of the squares isn’t a room so much as it’s an area, and the rectangles that connect them just show that these areas are connected.  Each area will vary in terms of size and layout--this is just a rough plan for the mechanics of the level.  The lines indicate that you’ll go through a doorway or some other type of entrance, and the dotted lines means that there’s a secret path or a situational means of getting through a path (like a gate that opens from one side, for instance).  There’s also a staircase in the upper left and a little arrow near the middle top that represents a one-way jump.  The T’s represent treasure, the M’s represent monster encounters, and the S’s represent special notes--they might be some kind of field hazard, an interactable object, and so on.  I have a key in a spreadsheet that gives detailed descriptions of what’s going on at each of these points of interest--not going to share that, as it would be spoilers!
All that’s just to show you the level of planning I’m going through now and why this is taking so long.  As I’m working on this, my life-long friend and now business partner Jason is working on getting the essential systems coded.  You might remember his name from Jimmy’s credits--he helped test the game and also coded the system that allowed me to animate the battle backgrounds.
The time frame on this game is really hard to judge.  I imagine I still have 2-3 months left on level design, but, after that (or maybe before), I’m going to start looping artists in so that we can get enough art for a trailer, a demo, and promotional materials, and then, after that, we’ll be able to launch a Kickstarter and Steam page, which is when you’ll really get to see this game’s potential.  I’m sorry that I don’t give regular updates on this kind of thing, but it’s such a lengthy process and, without art done, I can’t really show you the GOOD STUFF yet.  But, I hope that this blog gives everyone a clearer understanding of what to expect and why this is taking forever.
Anyway, this was the least Jimmy-focused Jimmy Day blog I’ve written, so I’m going to stop talking, but I know that fans of Jimmy have been looking forward to news about this, so I wanted to get everything I can out.  Thanks for playing Jimmy, and thanks for your patience with this new game.  I appreciate y’all so much!

rewatching The Grinning Man once again,,2am edition,,just through Beauty and the Beast bc i had to give up and go to bed. @past me you really thought you were gonna. ha. haha. who ever said you’re not a funny clown.
‘ye gods’ is fully a tagphrase of barkilphedro’s. bc saying it at least twice makes it definitely a Thing.
josiana says Bark looks like a...~bug~...and ngl the cut of his coat + those limp antenna things on his hat do actually kinda create that effect. they really did make him look like a skittering creature
accidentally paused at such a moment where his head is angled just so and it’s so weird bc u can’t see the paint on his nose at this angle what
i could play barkilphedro. it would be a ghastly shame but i. no. i could though. no i couldn’t. but
everything bark says just sounds very...Like That.
gonna start doing eye makeup like bark’s
i have so many feelings about the fact that Mr. Maskell’s ensemble(?) character and Ms. Obianyo’s ensemble character stand beside each other for this scene
au where Gwyn’s mom lives and the two of them work as performers
no but fully that Green Cowl but also like. Ms. Obianyo’s entire outfit??? that is a Fantastic Look right There right There.
i like how Bark points at an audience member when he says “whose life is even worse than yours”
okay so the mist that comes up when Bark first says “laughter is the best medicine” plus the way Ms. Obianyo’s ensemble character Looks At Him plus the way Ms. Obianyo’s Ensemble Character and Mr. Maskell’s Ensemble Character stand next to each other plus the fact that this is all Barkilphedro telling the story of events he perpetrated and whatnot just generally the whole look of the bit gives me Feelings like these particular two ensemble characters are almost sort of the ghosts of Gwyn’s mom and kinda sorta who Gwyn could’ve been but also not but also Kinda
i’m just so very emotional and love seeing these two together they look amazing and i love them DX
Josiana’s Introduction/Portrait dress looks fantastic and im mad she doesn’t get to keep it
London!Jojo’s costume is better
genuinely still can’t believe Clarence is Ursus
but it’s kinda ironic tho since it’s by Clarence’s orders that Bark was ever in the situation where ‘hmm guess i havvvve to mutilate this kid’s face lol, that’s too bad” was a thought htat occurred to him so i mean both of Ursus’ characters had a hand in what happened
clarence is like look at my unhappy children/what a tonic for my pain” ursus is like “...” and dea’s like “look at your unhappy children father i dare u”
the lords on palace hill are a gift
Ms. Brisson is just a truly adorable individual i love her ensemble character
also the material on the sort of dress/aprons the Lords wear? the print kind of looks like a map to me but idk if that’s what it is?
Osric’s “Welcome to the Stokes-Croft Faire” is like. one of the top 10 most iconic moments of the show for me negl. maybe even top 5. It’s got this particular energy i can’t describe but it’s So Good
i feel like in this scene like the top half of Mr. Maskell’s face is painted white(er) which looks fabulous once the bandages + cowl are added like heavens above but also with the whole “ooooh that’s the ghost of pre-barkilphedro!Gwynplaine” angle it’s interesting w/how Jojo’s got that bit of white paint/powder as well and it looks like Dirry-Moir’s whole face is painted at least for this number like Ooooh Is That A Lord Thing idk but it’s a Vibe
i once again think it’s interesting that it’s the actors for Angelica and Jojo who are in the picture frame for “Chained Beasts Fighting” considering how Jojo and Angelica seem to for real not get along so well during the play’s events
i’ve another theory abt mr. hubert
bark’s really like all up on Mr Maskensemblecharacter for the “stab an old man with a needle” bit.
i’ve tried so hard to figure out what the heck that could mean but all i can find is “they’re probably referring to murdering ppl with hat pins” u-u
yo the artwork on the walls behind them Wowie
gosh i love Osric
the little dance thing they do after “I’ve got the misery” is something i yearn for like. pls.
idk if anyone gets more into that last Laughter is the Best Medicine choreo than mr. Dirry-Moir like. he is positively Aggressive with it
the drum or whatever makes that little repeating like, three-point, one-two-three over and over toward the peak of this song is like. i don’t know what i was about to say but I Like This Part Of The Song Even Though It Is Very Stressful And Intense
idk man gwyn just looks Really Good when ursus pulls back that curtain like idk if it’s the way he’s standing or the way he’s moving however slightly or what he’s doing with his hands but like. A+ Gwynlit you look fantastic right here
i like how initially he looks just at Ursus but then kind of looks directly into the camera. sort of fancy the notion that in order to get through shows Gwyn’s kind of particular about where he looks and will try to focus on Ursus and Dea as much as possible but otherwise kind of just tries to not really See the audience maybe or something
oh hey that’s Born Broken that’s music boxing hangon lemme go back what plays for
i don’t reckona- give me a minute - i don’t. recognize. there we go. the music box sound that  plays for gwyn
dea is So Pretty
“I shall put my money where my mouth is” dirry-moir that is a most unfortunate turn of phrase
ngl gwyn always looks like he’s having a good time doing up the Drama for his act as Clarence
shadow!gwyn’s hair is next level kinds of floofy magnificence
even his bandages look amazing
“Sonny” :}
no but when Gwyn walks little puppet!Gwyn up the ramp to the ship but Dea’s helping and so they wind up standing Very Close and there’s Height Difference i’m sorry but they are Adorable
i reall like the ocean effect they do
Dea’s cowl look is Exquisite
can’t actually remember for real for real but i’m fairly confident that Mr. Maskell’s “MOTHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER MOTHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER” was at least 67% of what initially forced me to fall in love with this show so Thank You Mr. Maskell For That
the cowl + bandages just looks so good i don’t know what to say. that’s a Look right there. the eye makeup? the hair? The Bandages and Cowl? I’m sorry who says this is not a handsome boy?
he looks amzing
puppet!gwyn constantly looks like he’s got one eyebrow raised thanks to how the eye area is carved
i want to know how Ursus thought he wasn’t going to wind up with a couple of the most dramatic chidlren on the earth like when did he think there was a chance they wouldn’t both turn out Dramatic
high note hazlit has arrived
i wish that in the Osric Raises Gwyn au there was some way for Osric to meet like Ghost!Hazlit or i don’t even know but. they need. to meet each other.
Osric’s got vibes and i don’t know what they are but they’re so powerful and they move me to intense affection
it’s Ridiculously Tall-looking Gwyn time. he goes to stand up straight and keeps on Extending
he really just keeps his eyes on the puppet at all times tho
“your little hat can find out what it means” i know he said ‘heart’ but he said ‘hat’ gwyn needs a hat send tweet
book gwyn got to have a hat
don’t worry gwynlit osric’s gonna take care of that in the au
dea’s so cute
so when Ursus says “for certain, it would be no man” is that like a heads-up that they changed the wolf’s name bc now it isn’t Homo anymore or
it’s 3am now and im only 20 minutes in help me dea
forearms
the “No” “Yes, yes” when Ursus first gives him the Crimson Lethe kills me every single time bro.
how long is this post do i need to shut up yet
i’ve babbled for longer before i think we’re good
And Ursus Gave The Boy A Name. A Cruel Name. A Name That Means “Wow That Debilitating Wound Carved Into Your Actual Face Must Hurt Pretty Bad Huh Kidlet”
arms
still mad about the fact that Ursus mentions “Melt into mist/no longer exist” and Barkilphedro uses those Exact Words
i always assume they’re talkin about going to Murca but i mean technically anywhere could be the ‘new world’ huh
forearm
see the one thing i
when he says “we’ll come back to the place where once we were lost in the snow” now im thinking about adult!lord!Gwyn revisiting like. the actual place. where it all Happened like. imagine adult!Gwyn going back to the gallows-site and just.
under angelica’s reign it’s probably converted into a memorial instead ofc and is no longer a gallows-site but still
puppet!Dea doesn’t wear shoes
when puppet!Dea first goes “Mojo?” puppet!Gwyn kinda reaches toward her for a sec like he’s Concerned
Dirry-Moir waving at Dea like he’s trying to figure if she really is blind smh
cowl gwyn is such a phenomenal look
GWYN DOES THE FOOT WIGGLE DURING THE BEAUTY AND THE BEAST SCENE I JUST NOW NOTICED
HIS FOOT IS ACTUALLY FLAT ON THE GROUND SO INSTEAD OF IT BEING A LITTLE HEEL SHAKE IT’S MORE LIKE A LIL ANKLE TWISTY BUT. !!
puppet!Gwyn fiddles with his shirt/vest a lot
forearm
the lil motion with his head after the Kiss tho rlly does look suspicious like the “twinge (of unspeakable agony)” motion tho
love how Osric just runs along to go with to see the rest of the show like. he’s into it.

The Masked Singer Season 4 Episode 2: Group B kicking it off... with a twist!! Guesses and Commentary
Hello my fellow Masked Singer guys and gals! It's that time of the week again (albeit I am a bit late, but let's go with it), time for Ana's Masked Singer recap woohoo! *insert fanfare here* This episode was such an insane one not gonna lie, Group B came in with a bang like wow... let's just get into it because it's a crazy episode in it of itself.
Firstly, I gotta point out the contestants of Group B, which this time were 6 unlike A and C which only have 5 contestants total.. and those 6 are (order from left to right, top row first then bottom row in the image below) Crocedile, Gremlin (the purple fluffy guy), Seahorse, Whatchamacallit (the blue and red hair cousin It thing), Baby Alien, and Serpent.
Tumblr media
Alrighty so this elimination is gonna be a bit different than usual because it isn't the norm of what usually happens with these sorts of things (I'll tell you what I mean in a sec)...
So the first contestant unmasked for Group B actually wasn't eliminated (I know what you are thinking... "whaaatttt Anaaaaa that makes no sense")... but actually he unmasked himself (whatttt?! yeah you read that right, he legit was hot and suffocating and he seemed super over it and just took it off by himself... yup, that happened like what mind blown!
Anyways the mask who did this was...
*DRUMROLL PLEASE*
THE GREMLIN
Tumblr media
Performance: He sang Stand by Me by Ben E. King and honestly it was meh, it was really breathy as if he forgot some of the words, I don’t know if he was overcome with emotion (because he dedicated it to his friend who passed away) or what, I felt kind of bad but I low key feel like he was going to go home regardless, but on the bright side I love the costume and it was a great song choice for his range. He has a very raspy voice... like almost like a smoker’s voice and I can kind of tell that he’s an older man, but I couldn’t recognize the singer.
So the Gremlin ended up being revealed to be....
*DRUMROLL PLEASE*
MICKEY ROURKE
Tumblr media
Ugh this upsets me because I don’t know who he is so I really couldn’t guess him correctly. I searched it up and apparently he’s an actor and director and was in Iron Man 2, which I’ve never seen like ever. But yeah, he did good, he looked kinda drunk not gonna lie and I guess he was suffocated and got over it.
Alright now that that’s out of the way, let’s get to my favorite part, the remaining 5 contestants:
1. THE SEAHORSE
Tumblr media
Performance: I really love Seahorse, she’s one of my favorites of the night and so far in the season in general. Her performance of Rihanna’s Only Girl in the World was amazing and I definitely knew who that voice is...
My guess and I am so sure about this guys is singer, songwriter, American Idol alum...
TORI KELLY
Tumblr media
Dude like that voice is so recognizable... but also because of the clues:
Emotion Ocean= she’s super emotional when it comes to songwriting, like she legit said in an interview that she cries a lot
Tea Party= she hosted tea parties with her fans in 2019 (well before all this ofc)
Rainbow Frog= sang Rainbow Connection with Kermit the Frog
Judges’ Guesses:
Jenny: Halsey (say what now? This doesn’t sound like her... is Jenny ok? This episode she’s been messing up with guesses more than Ken... you’ll see what I mean)
Nicole: Hailee Steinfeld (meh, that’s ok I guess, but not quite)
Robin: Bebe Rexha (he was onto something when he said country but then he said this, but this is the closest guess of the 3)
2. THE SERPENT
Tumblr media
Performance: This one is my other favorite of this group. His performance of “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by The Proclaimers was absolutely stunning, I got chills! If it is who I think it is, I love him (partially because I think I know who it can be)
I think the Serpent can be actor of the iconic Broadway sensation Hamilton aka Aaron Burr, Sir:
LESLIE ODOM JR.
Tumblr media
Dude like I feel pretty good about this guess because of the voice and the clues:
Map of the Caribbean= reference to the beginning of Hamilton where Alexander Hamilton is from
Jr. References= he’s a jr.
Between medicine & music= he played a doctor on Murder on the Orient Express in 2017
Number 31118 (this was from the Sunday before the premiere but still worth noting)= 3 albums, 11 stage productions, 18 years on Broadway OR bible verse Romans 3:11-18 which was written by Paul, a character he played on Rent
Judges’ Guesses:
Jenny: John Legend (See what I’m saying? Jenny, what are you doing man? That is not John Legend, like they don’t sound alike at all)
Ken: Daveed Diggs (Wow! Ken got it kinda close, I’m proud, that’s an achievement for him we gotta give it to him)
Nicole: Leslie Odom Jr. (WOOOO!! Yesss Nicole!!) 👏🏼
3. THE CROCODILE
Tumblr media
Performance: I also really liked Crocodile and his performance of It’s My Life by Bon Jovi was great! I feel like I know who this is, and I am pretty familiar (well, more or less) with 90s and early 2000s boybands and this one is someone in that realm I am so sure of it...
Ok so being more specific, I think it’s boybander from The Backstreet Boys:
NICK CARTER
Tumblr media
The voice and the clues were a dead giveaway:
The Vegas vibes in the clue package= he performed in Vegas with Backstreet Boys
Water clues (the water slide and happiest in water)= he was born in Orlando, FL home of the theme parks and FL is also some of the Gators so it would makes sense with the costume
Grew up in Hollywood= moved there when really young
Judges’ Guesses:
Ken: John Hamm (and he’s back, that was a terrible guess)
Nicole: Nick Lachey (so close, but not quite)
Robin: Donnie Wahlberg (um, Jenny agreed, how does she not know that this ain’t your husband?!)
4. THE WHATCHAMACALLIT
Tumblr media
Performance:  His performance of “I Wish” by Skee-Lo was good, not my favorite, but I didn’t hate it. I am kind of feeling that it’s an athlete due to the height and also how he speaks.
So this guess is an idea I got from the Internet (subject to change because I have no clue about sports players):
Rashad Jennings?
Tumblr media
The only thing I got from the clues was:
Dancing with Stars= he won DWTS
Clues IDK
Orange Jelly= ?
The clock with the Bear Mask on the 5= ?
Swinging Keys= ?
Judges’ Guesses:
Nicole= Swiss Beats (meh idk)
Ken: Damon Lillard (I like this guess, tbh.. I kinda agree with it being a sports player)
Robin: Tyler the Creator (that would be cool but I don’t think so)
5. THE BABY ALIEN
Tumblr media
Performance: His performance of Faith by George Micheals was good too, better than I expected for the costume ngl. I had pretty low expectations but I am pleasantly surprised. He isn’t my favorite by any means and I am also a bit stumped by him especially because of that fake Russian accent, but I am in between 2 people at the moment....
The 2 people I am in between are either Ventriloquist Jeff Dunham or actor
JASON SEGEL
Tumblr media
It kinda sounds like him and the clues are a bit confusing but there’s one I understand too:
Tony Awards Reference= he’s been on Broadway
The mask’s a puppet and Segel is a big fan of puppets (He was also in the Muppets movie)
CLUES IDK
Space clues= ?
Friends Reference (2nd Gear)= ?
Ferris Beuller references= ?
Judges’ Guesses:
Jenny: Ralph Macchio (meh I guess that’s good)
Nicole: David Schwimmer (not bad, but idk it doesn’t really sound like it)
Ken: Freddie Prinze Jr. (ya, no)
Alright so that’s it! I am so sorry for it being late, but better late than never... I’ve been pretty busy so hopefully this weekend I will have tonight’s episode recap up... THANK YOU FOR READING AND I WILL SEE YOU IN THE NEXT ONE *blows kiss* byeeee!

ITS FUCKIN UHHHH kiribaku fic rec time
they’re all sfw i think, listed in no particular order. none of them are unfinished, most of them are mutual pining because i’m a sucker for that. if there’s angst it won’t be too heavy and if it is i’ll give a warning :)
1) 2am knows all secrets by Unbreakable_Red_Riot on AO3, 15/15 chapters, 59k words
okay if ur searching for a list of kiribaku fics it’s more than likely that you’ve read this one. it’s a classic, it’s a fave, it’s very popular BUT FOR GOOD REASON. basically bakugou suffers from nightmares, kirishima is a good bro, it develops from there
2) ‘Cause The Dark’s Not Taking Prisoners Tonight by imatrisarahtops on AO3, 10/10 chapters, 52.4k words
very similar concept to the previous one but written differently, more focus on what they do to combat the insomnia (dear god that makes it sound like it’s gonna be nsfw it’s not). quality platonic affection between kiri and kami, quality dadzawa, what more could you want? ALSO each chapter starts with a twenty one pilots lyric about sleep and as the biggest clikkie i appreciate that
3) winter doesn’t linger here by drifting_i on AO3, 1/1 chapters, 14.1k words
some sweet domestic winter kiribaku. plenty of mutual pining, staying at kiri’s for christmas, kirishima has lesbian parents, the whole shabang
4) fatal flaws by poetic_leapard on AO3, 1/1 chapters, 13.7k words
a common trope that i LOVE: mutual pining while bakugo tutors kirishima. eventual getting together, bakugo is bad at words and feelings (bless his heart), 1A has to figure out their fatal flaw (you’ll NEVER guess what kirishima’s is)
5) Ready To Climb This Mountain Inside by cherryredriots on AO3, 1/1 chapters, 5.8k words
i think this is the shortest of the list? the boys go mountain climbing, ends up with a few confessions. straight up fluff and kiribaku quality time, really nice sweet ending and read overall
6) houdini by chonideno on AO3, 1/1 chapters, 14.1k words
another fairly popular one but GOD i love it. a late night in the dorms leads to kaminari suggesting a game of spin the bottle seven minutes in heaven - guess which pair it lands on! it’s basically fourteen thousand words of the boys making out but it stays completely sfw, if you were worried
7) Love Notes by PurplePersnickity on AO3, 1/1 chapters, 5.5k words
a short but cute story of bakugo Not being able to communicate like a regular human so instead leaves a series of anonymous notes for kiri to find. sliiighhttllyy ooc bakugou if you squint, only putting that there because i know some people have a problem with ooc :)
8) ‘cause i love you for infinity by multi class maps on AO3, 9/9 chapters, 23.2k words
ONE OF MY ABSOLUTE ALL TIME FAVES FROM ANY FANDOM. criminally underrated. no quirks au, demon (but not technically demon more like spirit) bakugo au, reincarnation au. an absolutely beautiful fic. features tokoyami and yaoyorozu as central characters, which is rare. slight angst with a happy ending, mentions of death but nothing graphic
9) Tonight, We’re the Sea by idratherhaveyou on AO3, 11/11 chapters, 60.7k words
pretty popular fic but omg do i love it. no quirks au. kirishima’s grandmother has a bad fall so he moves to a quiet seaside town to take care of her where he makes friends with ashido and kaminari and falls in love with the artist bakugo, who’s studying under the famous artist Yagi Toshiniri. i LOVE kiri’s grandmother in this. slowburn, pining, hurt/comfort, angst if you squint.
10) The Beauty of a Beast by starofjems on AO3, 15/15 chapters, 101.6k words
okay i’m not usually the biggest fan of fantasy aus but FUCK this is the exception, i’m so in love with this fic. beauty and the beast au, kirishima is the prince cursed by a witch that wanted to punish his father for his selfishness. bakugou is a kingdom-renowned monster hunter who hears about this apparently vicious beast. no quirks but still powers, both bakugo and kirishima need true love to break their curses. fairy mina, wizard kaminari, knights uraraka, midoriya and iida, dragon tetsutetsu, prince todoroki, monoma and kendou are in it too but i can’t remember what they are off the top of my head - guess you’ll have to read and find out!
11) heart stains on the carpet by cityboys on AO3, 4/4 chapters, 25.9k words
a lovely fake dating turns real dating fic. no quirks au. bakugou is a chemistry student working on nitroglycerin based products that someone is trying to steal and weaponise. kirishima is assigned to be bakugou’s bodyguard and has to be by his side 24/7, including moving in. technically college au, platonic kacchako, a really good read
12) the fool’s rush by chonideno on AO3, 4/4 chapters, 40.7k words
same writer as number six on this list! i ADORE the vibes of this fic, it’s lovely. after UA, fresh on the scene pro heroes kirishima and bakugou get an apartment together and try and work around the unresolved feelings between them. slowburn, fluff, mutual pining, a LOT of hurt/comfort because i love it. mentions of blood/wounds and mentions of alcohol.
13) neon season by chonideno on AO3, 1/1 chapters, 26.3k words
another chonideno fic! the vibe of this fic is just gorgeous. kiribaku road trip fic. the boys share a car, food, hotel rooms, beds, and each other. mutual pining, denial of feelings, happy ending. there’s also implied sexual content but nothing major. this is probably the most angst-heavy of the list because of miscommunication and general dumbassery but it has a happy ending.
14) quote love unquote by newamsterdam on AO3, 28/28 chapters, 135.7k words
this is a LOONGG one so buckle yourself in. fake dating turned real dating trope again. celebrity au where bakugo (among other bnha characters) is a famous actor and kirishima is in a small rock band and has been a long time fan (as well as having an intense crush) of bakugo for years. when kirishima bumps into bakugou at a party, the press take pictures and rumours about the two of them spiral, kicking kirishima’s band into the spotlight and helping them reach new levels of fame - with one exception. bakugou’s manager sero hanta insists that they fake a relationship for the press, and we all know where that’s bound to lead.

aaand that concludes my list for now!! there’s definitely ones i’ve missed off that i must’ve forgotten to bookmark so i’ll likely be adding to this over time or maybe posting an updated version. i hope you enjoy!!

Nilo Blues Pays Homage to Cult Anime Film Akira in “Akira Harakiri” [Premiere + Q&A]
Tumblr media
Photo: Frank Lin
The city of Toronto never ceases to amaze us. What can arguably be considered the epicenter for a new wave of hip-hop, Toronto has become notorious for generating underground sensation after sensation. Through their cultivation of hypnotic and innovative soundscapes, to their impeccable flows and lyricism, Toronto has solidified an extensive roster of industry frontrunners, and Nilo Blues is proving to be the newest addition to the team.
Despite being a self-proclaimed poster child for Generation Z, the 21-year-old is anything but ordinary. Growing up in the Toronto art scene, Blues encompasses what it means to be a multi-hyphenate creative, utilizing his talents as a singer, rapper, dancer, and producer to tell stories that grapple with his Asian identity within the context of western society.
His debut single, “No Risk Involved,” is an intrepid statement on Asian cultural identity and showcases how Blues’ struggle to live and create beyond rigid stereotypes has ultimately fueled him to pave his own way, in music and life. His nuanced and complex approach to the modern trap soundscape mirrors that of his own evolution and understanding of his own personal identity. Woven within his uncompromisingly honest storytelling and conviction lies the infectious hooks, melodic arrangements, and unsparing production of a true, multi-hyphenate artist. And despite “No Risk Involved” being the official introduction to his discography, we’re here to tell you that it’s just the tip of the iceberg for Blues.
As we patiently await his debut EP, set to release this summer, Blues gives us a peek at what’s to come with his most recent drop, “Akira Harakiri.” Explosive and audacious, this track has the power to cause havoc to the silencers of a corrupted system. Compiled within roaring trap-laden beats and terse hip-hop rhythms, Blues’ adroit vocals and dynamic fluidity convey a sense of fervor, all while challenging the status quo of Asian representation within American culture.
“Akira Harakiri” pays homage to the anime that Blues grew up with, most notably the raw tenacity of Akira and the thriving energy of Dragonball Z, which influenced its sonic foundation and cinematic execution. In an effort to gain a more comprehensive understanding of his artistry, we spoke with Blues about his position in the current Toronto-trap soundscape and what motivates him to create breakout tracks like “No Risk Involved” and “Akira Harakiri.”
Ones To Watch: It seems like dancing used to be a significant part of your life before music. What sparked your transition?
Nilo Blues: Growing up I was surrounded by music, whether it be at home or in the dance studio. I always had this natural appreciation for music grow in me because of all the different sounds I was surrounded by. I remember having 10-hour dance rehearsal days and then coming home to record photo booth videos of me and my best friend spitting melodies and lyrics over beats we found. I started producing at 16 when I discovered the iMaschine app for iPhone. I would spend hours trying to cook up beats until one day I decided to learn Ableton Live. My mentor cracked it on my laptop and started showing me the ropes, instantly I was hooked. My musical journey honestly started out from me just wanting to make music I could dance to. I owe a lot of myself to dance. 100%.
Has being a dancer influenced your creative process at all?
Dance has influenced me creatively in many different aspects of the process. Growing up as a dancer, you immediately instill a high level of discipline and work ethic as a young child. We were training like athletes and expressing like actors. It shaped the way I hear music (especially my own), it developed my approach on execution and staying on my P’s and Q’s, and it allows me to perform and add a visual component to the sonics. I grew up admiring Michael Jackson, James Brown, JT, Usher and now Bruno Mars. They all hold all aspects of their art to such a high standard. I’m trying to set that exact same standard and quality, through my own vernacular.
Growing up in what can be considered as the epicenter of Canadian hip-hop, do you think Toronto, and the artists that have put it on the map, have influenced your sound at all?
I started learning how to make music right when the 2015-2016 Toronto rap boom happened, so definitely. I feel like Toronto artists collectively do such an amazing job at emulating the vibe of Toronto. At a time where Toronto was only synonymous with Drake (the GOAT), The Weeknd, and PND, Toronto artists really stepped up to the plate and let the world hear the type of shit we’re on. It's super inspiring, and I just want to keep pushing the envelope. I’m trying to land where no one has before, and make my mark in everything I set my mind to. I’m hungry and I want to get great shit done. I thank Toronto and the lively music scene in the city for sparking that.
Your first single “No Risk Involved” highlights the misrepresentation of Asian identity in mainstream culture. Why was it so important for you to create your own narrative and debunk westernized versions of Asian culture and identity?
My family was the main inspiration for wanting to evoke that conversation. Western media loves to exploit the great ideas from different cultures without ever giving credit to the cultures that cultivated them to begin with. They perpetuate false narratives and generalize us in order to keep control. I’ve seen what my family has gone through in order to even be here. My mom is Filipino, and my dad is Viet-Chin, so I’ve had my fair share of perspectives at a young age. One thing I can guarantee is that Asians aren’t as one-dimensional as the media portrays us to be. It’s about genuinely telling our stories, and being able to control the narrative in the world we share with the culture.
How was it filming the “No Risk Involved” video? Did you have a vision for how you wanted it to look?
It was amazing. I definitely felt back in my element while performing on-screen. The positive energy and hard work by everyone on set was the difference-maker. I feel like that energy shines through the video. I’m so grateful to have had such an amazing cast and crew, they fucking killed it. As for the concept, NRI was one of the very first concepts I started developing with my team. Had my first meeting with Angelica Milash, the director of the video, and everything clicked. The inspiration was drawn from aesthetics you’d see in legendary Hong Kong movies like Young & Dangerous. We also based the female looks on different characters from movies that included Asian characters with exaggerated Asian female stereotypes.
youtube
You once tweeted “I love good music but when an artist can pull off a great visual it tells you a lot about that artist.” Do you think it’s important for artists to be active creative directors in the videos they come out with?
Personally, I love dipping my fingers in every pot when it comes to my creative direction. I believe it takes a strong team in order to create beautiful shit, and, as the artist, I want to lead the team to victory. If one of us wins, we all win. Being active as a leader is what’s important. Sharing ideas, and building with the people around you. That’s how the best ideas shine through. You just gotta be a leader with this shit. Take control of your vision and work together to execute. If you aren’t paying attention to every aspect of your craft, you’re only going to see one perspective. At the end of the day, no one will execute your own ideas better than yourself. We all have that capability.
Your newest single “Akira Harakiri” is inspired by the 1988 cult cyberpunk film Akira. How did this iconic anime influence your lyrical and production process?
I wanted the essence of the track to emulate the same essence of the movie. The production was what sparked the idea. Colin Munroe was working on the beat while we bounced ideas around and I instantly felt the beat belonged in an anime. Akira was an automatic click. This song is supposed to feel like a song The Capsules gang would bump around Neo-Tokyo. I loved the dynamic between Kaneda and Tetsuo in the film, and wanted to combine the charisma and poise of Kaneda with the maniacal energy of Tetsuo. That’s also something I want to tap into on the visual component as well. This song is an homage to a visual masterpiece, as well as an iconic moment in film and culture.
What are some of your favorite anime films?
I grew up watching anime on TV like Dragonball Z, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Pokémon, Digimon. As I grew older, I wasn’t exposed to as much as before, but I rediscovered my love for it in high school when I binge-watched Death Note twice in succession. Now I’m trying to watch as much as possible. I feel like I have so much to catch up on lol.
What are some of your goals for 2020? Both as an artist and as a human being?
I want to work on killing the urge of having a cigarette or vaping again. I quit at the end of 2019, and started working out four times a day with my trainer. I’m trying to stay consistent in doing my laundry but that shit fucking sucks. I'm trying to meditate more, as I’ve recently picked up on transcendental meditation and want to keep consistent. Other than that I wanna keep dropping cool shit and repping what I know best. I wanna keep pushing myself to my limits and keep evolving. I hope people find strength in my music and I want to evoke new thought and conversation.
What can we expect to hear more of in your future projects?
More genuine energy. You’ll definitely be able to feel exactly how I felt when creating the music, from the growing pains to the gratitude. More singing too. You’ll be able to identify the spectrum of my sound, and how dynamic it is.
Who are your Ones to Watch?
I’ve been on my hip-hop shit as of late, so I’ve been bumping a lot of Kaash Paige, Fivio Foreign, The Kid LAROI and shit. Deb Never is an artist that I've been wanting to work with personally. Out of Toronto, definitely keep your eye out for Stefani Kimber. One of the most talented artists I’ve ever heard and a great human being. She’s definitely one of my top Ones to Watch artists.

“The Tales of Kutcharitaville”
In the mid 70′s a small family restaurant opened at the address 2186 Hendersonville Rd. in Arden, North Carolina. The restaurant was called Kutchie’s Dine and Dance Supper Club. The proprietors were a husband and wife team named Kutchie and Anita Peleaz.
The restaurant later on changed its name and theme to Kutchie’s Key West Cafe, a tropical beach themed cafe. The last dated article mentioning the cafe as open was published on a local online news platform in 2006.
The cafe closed soon after the publication of the ‘06 article, after three decades of business. The property now sits vacant, having been partially demolished, but the land and remaining structure is still owned by a member of the Peleaz family.
Shortly after going out of business, strange mentions of the restaurant began to appear in internet key word searches, due to the fact that someone was obsessively posting about the now-closed restaurant, writing about it over and over. The mystery poster began leaving these mysterious posts online in the year 2009, despite the fact that the Key West Cafe had been closed for a few years. The posts were created for the next seven years.
These mysterious posts, positive glowing promotions for Kutchie’s Key West Cafe, were signed with many aliases, Jake Carson being among the most prominent, and they continued to be posted in news article comment sections for a total of seven years. The posts were also left below food and literary reviews, and even in the guest-book sections of online obituaries.
The appearance of these posts, which were written about a defunct cafe and posted for seven years straight, were a mystery to the internet. No one could understand why someone would rave about and promote a long-shuttered dining establishment for seven years.
If you look around the internet, many of the thousands of these now legendary posts can still be found, as well as YT videos on the topic, and a variety of links will take readers to web pages like 4Chan and Reddit, where people devoted to discovering who wrote the posts discuss the mystery.

My Analysis of the KLP Mystery
In 1958 charter boat Captain Tony Tarracino purchased 428 Green St, in Key West, Florida. He named it Captain Tony's Saloon. The building itself was home at one time to an ice slab morgue, and in 1898 it housed a wireless telegraph system instrumental in receiving messages from Havana during the Spanish-American war. After that the building housed a bordello, and a speak-easy and then became a bar and has continued to be a bar in some form or another to this day.
The famous address is most noted for being a hangout to many celebrities, including many well-known literary figures, including Ernest Hemingway, Truman Capote, and Shel Silverstein. During the bar's run as Sloppy Joe's in the 30's, Hemingway spent a lot of time there. Later, in the early 70's, it became a favorited haunt of Jimmy Buffet. Buffet played his music at the place until he opened his own bar, Margaritaville, around the corner on Duval St. He was allegedly paid in the currency of tequila, to play Captain Tony’s, and he even helped to immortalize Captain’s Tony’s Saloon with his famous song "Last Mango in Paris"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Tony%27s_Saloon
This recounting of the history of Captain Tony’s Saloon is significant, and this history of the Key West scene is vital to the theory I am putting forth, for many reasons, as it is some of the relevant information that supports the theory that Kutchie himself was the author of these posts.
We all know that Kutchie's Key West Cafe was a beach-themed cafe, made complete with the stylistic flavorings of the famous Key West scene. Kutchie masterminded this theme as the 2nd incarnation of the restaurant at some point after it's prior run as Kutchie's Dine and Dance Supper Club ended.
A poster on Reddit found microfiche “Help Wanted” ads in which Kutchie’s Dine and Dance Supper Club advertised its intention to hire workers in 1976. It was in the 70's that Jimmy Buffet was the toast of the town over in Key West and those years in particular were Buffet’s “pre-Margaritaville” heyday at Captain Tony's. During the 70's is when he spent his time playing Captain Tony's for tequila payments, as the legend tells it.
The first Margaritaville is listed as opening on Duval St. around the corner from Captain Tony's Saloon in 1985. It is not clear at what point the name and theme of Kutchie's Cafe changed, but at some point during it's approximate 30 year run, it changed it’s name from Kutchie’s Dine and Dance Supper Club and began doing business as Kutchie's Key West Cafe.
During this time, Kutchie created the Cafe, which we have seen referred to in the KLP posts as “Kutcharitaville,” which is a play of words on Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville. The posts also refer to Kutchie as "The Captain," in the same fashion as Captain Tony Tarracino of Captain Tony's Saloon fame. Therefore what we know of Kutchie and his Key West Cafe, is that it too was influenced by Captain Tony's Saloon, Jimmy Buffet and his Margaritaville vibes, and by the Key West culture in general.
It seems obvious that Kutchie’s Key West Cafe's tropical phase intended to pay homage to and capitalize off the popular Key West culture of the day and throw back to it’s musical and literary heyday. While Kutchie built that creative cafe world for the entertainment experience of his diners, the posts created by the KLP poster also build a creative world for the readers. This is Kutchie’s World.
The Key West Cafe strived to re-create a slice of the delicious pie that is the famous Key West scene, within the perimeters of Kutchie’s world building, and the posts also work on a literary level to streamline Captain Kutchie’s Key West Cafe into the same pop-culture literary world of legend that Captain Tony’s Saloon and Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville also inhabited in popular culture through their mention in music and literature.
The posts attempt to create an alternate world in which Kutchie is a Captain, just like Captain Tony, and they link Kutchie’s little tropical paradise in North Carolina to the famous Key West literary and music scene through online world-building, same as Captain Tony’s and Margaritaville were immortalized by writers and artists in the popular media of the day. It is worth noting, that Kutchie himself has been known to build creative worlds for purposes of entertainment.
Therefore I believe that is reasonable to assume that this writing serves the purpose of further enhancing the historical pop culture relevance of Kutchie and his Key West Cafe and serves to allow Kutchie to continue to create parallels between his creation, the Key West Cafe and the real Key West scene.
The author of the KLP posts builds a fantasy world through their attempt at unconventional modern literature, much like Kutchie's Key West Cafe itself was a world built by Kutchie from his imagination, and was formed by him merging his personal interests into a “fantasy play” themed business.
In the world of the KLP posts, statements are made by the author in which Captain Kutchie is memorialized in the same breath as Captain Tony and also the two ”famous” Captains are cast in the role of buddies, having had adventures together in the world built by the KLP posts. Was this past friendship fantasy or reality? Only Captain Kutchie and Captain Tony know for sure. Perhaps it is all just wishful thinking, or tall tale telling, an old man spinning yarns.
"The Late Great “Captain Tony Tarracino” of Key West Fame was an Old Friend of “Captain Kutchie Pelaez”. Together the two of them Sailed Many Adventures Not Known To Much Of The World! Nighttime Runs Too Cuba And Back. Cheese Burgers, Rum, Scotch, Cigarettes, Cigars, Treasure Maps, Pizzas, Chocolate Bars and Key Lime Pies Helped The Two Make History. If You Can Believe It Even “Mel Fisher” Was Known To Hang With Them!"- Jake Carson FB
https://www.facebook.com/jake.carson.98284/posts/1854653334767359
“..And With An Extra “HEAVY-HEAVY HEART”, “Captain Kutchie Pelaez’s”, EXTRA GOOD FRIEND And OLD PARTNER IN CRIME….The Legendary….”YANKEE JACK”,..Of Key West and Boston, Mass. Has Passed Away, Much Too Soon..Rest In Peace Pisan…….Enjoy Your Key Lime Pies Buddy… .. …We Remember “Yankee Jack”, “Captain Tony”, “Jimmy Buffett”, “Mel Fisher”, “Captain Terry Levi”, “Captain Kutchie Pelaez” And Many Other Famous Characters Down In Key West In The Good Old Days. What A Blast Those Days Really Were!…. ....Do You Ever Wonder?..Who Writes All This Crap?..Well, We Sure Do. They Deserve Getting Awards For Such Literary Skills, We Hope They’re Getting Paid Well. This Stuff Is As Good As “Hemingway” Or “MAD MAGAZINE”!”  -Jake Carson FB
In the above post, Captain Kutchie Peleaz is hailed by Jake Carson as a visionary in the same breath as Yankee Jack, Captain Tony, Jimmy Buffet and "many other famous characters" and then the author goes on to question if you have ever wondered who writes this crap and states that it’s as good as "Hemingway"
It is obvious that while the creator of the cafe strove to pay homage, it’s also obvious that there’s an intention in the writings to also create a modern experimental literary work that places Kutchie's Cafe somewhere in pop culture history, in the same way that authors such as Ernest Hemingway paid homage to Key West and recorded of it for posterity in history.
It is made clear when the author says, “This stuff is good as “Hemingway,””  that they fancies their work on the KLP posts to be a valid form of creative modern literature and that they are conceptualizing themselves as one of the vanguards of this new style of creative writing.
Hemingway and Buffet memorialized Key West and Captain Tony's Saloon in their popular writings. The KLP poster is memorializing the Key West Cafe in the now popularized KLP writings order to push the Cafe into the annals of pop-cuture history for posterity.
It’s not enough for the Key West Cafe to have been “like” a Key West haunt, it must also be recorded in pop culture history, in order to truly be legend, just like a real Key West hangout.
The Title of the Masterpiece is “The Tales From Kutcharitaville”
At one point, Jake Carson states "Hell, If You Didn't Know Better, You'd Probably Guess That This Is Just Another Chapter From That Famous Island Book Named "The Tales From KUTCHARITAVILLE"!...." It is here we are informed by the author that the pieces of work that have been placed all over the internet actually combine, like an old fashioned serial radio show or different books of the Bible, to form a modern internet literature masterpiece called “The Tales From Kutcharitaville" in which the KLP author memorializes his youth, his love of family, and their cafe, which was in the Peleaz families lives for around 30 years.
In the work, “The Tales From Kutcharitaville,” the KLP author takes you into Kutchie's world, by re-creating it for you on some level. For those who have never been to that famous Key West scene or even to Kutchie's Key West Cafe, the posts strive to recreate the energy from that moment when the two worlds were combined through the creative energy of one man.
In my opinion, I believe that this all works together to show that the author of the KLP posts is none other than Kutchiemon himself. The author builds a world in their posts to pay homage to the fame of the Key West Cafe much like Ernest Hemingway paid homage to Key West in his writing and much like Kutchie paid homage to the Key West scene by styling his Cafe according to influences from famous Key West characters like Captain Tony and Jimmy Buffet.
What We Also Know
We know that the Peleaz family has conservative leanings when it comes to politics, and the KLP poster seems to share similar political leanings, or so it seems from their writing. The pages the KLP poster comment on and the celebrity characters mentioned in the world they build also reference artists or celebrities from the boomer era. One example of this would be the attraction the author has to post the KLP writings on web pages covering performing artists like Don Rickles.
What I Believe
I believe in the years after Kutchie's Key West Cafe closed down, that Kutchie had nothing to do to foster his creativity, and missed building a fantasy Key West world, and thus moved onto the 2nd phase of world building surrounding the Kutchie's Key West Cafe, the phase in which the shuttered cafe was intended to be boosted to pop-culture literary infamy through the unconventional method witnessed in the author's use of free platforms to leave their mark.
The author has chosen to clue us into their creation of the KLP world through the use of real world communications platforms that traffic in promoting food and entertainments relevant to the author's world building experience in order to create an “organic feeling” of “manufactured fame” for Captain Kutchie's Cafe. I believe this is Kutchie's effort to create a world of literary legend for his own Key West cafe that will parallel the literary legend built by famous writers to convey the Key West scene's vitality and lore.
Through the writings, the Key West Cafe takes on a life of its own and becomes a little more famous in pop culture in the same way the original Key West scene is. This legend created, makes the Key West Cafe even MORE like the venues he modeled his cafe after, and also through these writings about the key West Cafe, the Key West scene itself is further immortalized, despite the fact that its even out of business now for over a decade.
I believe that the KLP posts constitute a new form of literature that is modern, interactive, and dynamic in nature. The works that comprise "The Tales From Kutcharitaville" make use of free platforms and interact much like an ARG within the real world, to create a parallel world in which Kutchies' Key West Cafe comes to literary prominence through the work of the KLP poster's world building much the same way that Captain Tony's Saloon and the Key West music and literary scene came to prominence after it was celebrated in world famous music and literature.
So we know that the author has also told us the name of this “book” that they have published through unconventional means and they have also explained to us that their work is on par with Hemingway and while many literary scholars would argue that the KLP posts do not constitute a valid form of literature, this author argues that they do, because the platforms on which we receive literature and how we interact with literature changes historically and always have.
This is why I believe the author of the KLP posts to be a sort of modern day Burroughs, or Bukowski. Insert the name of a famous ground breaking experimental author here and you get the picture.
I agree with the author of the KLP posts when they stated that the author deserves awards for their literary skills. I believe the world they have created rises above the level of "just some comments on a board," and that the format chosen and the mystery imbued in it elevates the writing to an interactive level of performance. The world draws the readers in. Unlike much of modern literature, the world of the author of the KLP posts grabs the reader’s attention and demands discussion.
I would argue that the KLP posts constitute a successful “life's-work masterpiece” by the author, and that the author is among a new modern vanguard of experimental underground literary figures that choose to self publish their works in unconventional formats.
Most would believe that to be considered literature, one must have a book for sale on the shelf, or on the internet, but the KLP posts rise above the commercial literature we know today and present an experience that is on par with a much more highly elevated art form. The book “The Tales From Kutcharitaville” is not just something that you read and set aside, it is something you consume voraciously, and discuss.
It pulls you in on its whirlwind adventure and also takes you along for the ups and down's in the life of the story's central figure, the Hero of the book “The Tales From Kutcharitaville,” Kutchie himself. It even casts you in a role, in which you become an actor in the story, an "investigator of literary mystery."
This engrossing experience is provided to you at no charge, the price that is paid is the fact that Kutchie’s little Key West Cafe that used to be on Hendersonville Road in Asheville goes down in literary history, much like Captain Tony's, and the earned posterity is valid and justifiable as the post-humous notoriety is gained through a dynamic, ground-breaking new style of literary presentation. As a matter of fact the fame brought to the Key West Cafe posthumously is the writer’s “Award.”
It goes without saying that Captain Kutchie and his Key West Cafe deserve the literary prominence granted through the posts. The entertainment provided by the literature works on two levels. On one hand we are caught up in this urban legend through the serialized postings and on the other hand, we are also whisked into the world of Kutchie's as actors, where we investigate this manufactured literary urban legend.
Loose Lips and Being Loved
My theory on why nobody in the know will disclose this author's identity- I believe for the urban legend to work on every level, the author can not and should not claim credit for their work. The mystery is part of the charm of the multi-level literary work, "The Tales From Kutcharitaville," and the mystery of not knowing who created the posts, combined with not knowing why they did it, is what propels the posts to the high level of dynamic performance art that allows them to inhabit both today's world of creative non-fiction, and also reside with one foot in the real world past.
The mystery of the WHO and WHY is what makes this literary sensation something we can all can obsess over, and ask questions about, and interact with on so many levels. It's what makes this mystery one of the most thrilling creative reads of modern times.
Some would argue that the posts veer into the crude, perverted, and disorganized, and at times show signs of a disorganized mental state. But many famous authors from literary history struggled with mental disorganization and many of them created their writing from within awkward disorganized mental states.
Author William Burroughs, for example, often wrote from an “unusual place” that people would say was born of mental disorganization. His work, much like for example, Bukowski’s, was often seen as crude and vulgar and sometimes when an author's literary works were fragmented, crude, and vulgar and showed signs of disorganization they were published and lauded anyways, as “samples of the real life mind” of the author.
If an authors world is disorganized, that is simply the world they are bringing you into. Vulgarity, perversion, and signs of mental disorganization do not invalidate the serialized work "The Tales From Kutcharitaville" from being considered as a modern-day literary masterpiece. These odd features actually help to propel it into its strange sense of notoriety. These features make the work more honest and interesting, as they provide a sense of genuine character to the work.
While it could also be a writer who frequented Kutchie's, or it could be one of Kutchie's own family members, or more than one party, I strongly believe all the available evidence points to Kutchie himself as being the author. I believe that as he aged and his mental and creative state changed, these factors, along with the prominence of the work finally coming into view of popular culture, he decided to stop posting because sometimes, enough of a good thing is enough. Once the posts caught on and began to provide the former Key West Cafe with a new infamy, and people began to write to, make calls to, and otherwise contact the Peleaz family, he stopped posting the posts, because of his health, and also because the posts had served their creative purpose probably more then he ever imagined they would.
Continuing to post the posts in the face of the public attention the posts are now receiving, would only serve to complicate the situation for the author and for the Peleaz family as a unit. If the KP works were created to make the Cafe famous post-humous it worked, but also the family began to face what amounted at times to fanatic harassment.
People’s Theories on “The Tales From Kutcharitaville”
Some have theorized that the Peleaz family have something to do with criminal actions, that somehow involve the KLP posts, but no evidence has ever been found to validate these assertions of criminal conspiracy. People have also speculated that the posts are the covert/overt comms of spies, as well, that the work is being done by a bot.
And while no one has ever been able to prove that the Peleaz family has any involvement in untoward affairs, and are proven pillars of their local society, the spy theory has never been substantiated even in the least either, nor has the bot theory. No theory has ever been proven.
The Pelaez family is an upstanding local family in a tight-knit community of mountain folk, hesitant to trust or embrace outsiders. They've lived there all their lives, and the patrons of the Cafe often grew up alongside of them, and went to school or even to church with them. The Pelaez family, by all appearances, are well-respected hard-working locals that are beloved by the residents of the Asheville-Arden-"Skyland" area. As a rule, they do not possess criminal records.
If Kutchie wrote the posts and someone who knew him well did know this, I believe that they would protect this fact from getting out, simply because all of the love that is shown in the posts for the Key West Cafe and its patrons. That love was very real and is returned by the people of Asheville-Arden to this day. To this day, the people who Kutchie loved, still love Kutchie and his little Key West Cafe back.
Many believe the secretiveness surrounding the topic of authorship indicates some sort of criminal conspiracy in the community of Asheville, but people are often very protective of the people they love. And regulars of Kutchie’s Key West Cafe say they were made to feel like part of the Peleaz family. To this day there is still brand loyalty to Kutchie’s Cafe.
It has been reflected that some believe that Kutchie is no longer well health-wise and some readers feel that the writing style of the KLP poster often demonstrates a decline of the poster’s mental health. I believe this is another reason why people would protect the identity of the author, especially if the people in their lives protecting their truth believe that the posts were a product of a looming mental health crises. Everyone loves Kutchie.
These posts are really about love. They are about Kutchie's love for life, his youth, his community, his Key West Cafe, Key West culture, and his family. The restaurant was the waiting room he spent the best years of his life in, during his time here on earth.
In the stories he is a figure of action, adventure, and good times, he as a protagonist is a provider of and creator of community. In this community there is a lot of love. In these posts Kutchie has been living it up once again, this time memorializing himself in a contrived literary hoax, in which he has adventures with his celebrity buddies and he has created this little world for himself to use to extend to us and the world at large, the love that went into the fantasy world building of his Key West Cafe and share with us his own brand of magic, much as he shared the Key West Cafe and its “beach in the country,” charms with the community.
I believe that the author of the KLP posts is a creative genius. I believe that creative genius living in his own self-made world is none other than the Captain himself.
Who else would place him as the action-adventure star in his own “internet fan-fiction” fantasy Rat-Pack, and who else would seek to elevate The Captain and his former Key West Cafe into the annals of modern literary history? And why? No one but Captain Kutchie himself has any motivation to build this world in which he is glorified. This is original Fan-Fiction, by the Captain, for the Captain.
The Copy Cat Posts/After The First Mention on Reddit
I believe that after the posts became a topic of discussion online, and people began to question the family members and contact them, that someone else in the family possibly began to reply to the public, or possibly participate in posting some of the posts.
I do think this is a possibility to explain why it seems like the posts/messages were at one time being replied to or perpetrated by a different party, while showing different styles of writing and sending quotes from a game like Silent Hill.
Another theory that I'm also leaning toward to support why this occurred is that at some point, some hacker folks who read about the KLP post mystery on Reddit managed to crack their way into some of the accounts in an effort to doxx the identity of the writer, and instead of do so, they used their opportunities looking around in the accounts, to reply to some of the messages themselves.
This could account for why the replies that were sent to people after the story broke on Reddit, seemed to be related to gaming themes. Gamers on Discord have been known to try to hack their way into these mysteries. I have found evidence as well, that places some of the family members in the online gaming community. This is why I embrace both theories as possibilities regarding the origin of the replies that didn't seem to come from the Original Poster of the KlP posts.
In regards to it being driven by a bot, I could see how an independent Bot could somehow find the KLP posts and begin to re-incorporate them into their work, but I also believe that it's also likely that the KLP poster could have also purposely made use of a bot in order to spread their creative KLP posts more frequently than possible for them to do by hand on their own.
Human/Bot SEO Theory
It's also a possibility that someone involved with the Key West Cafe, Kutchie or a family member, was working online from home to create content to support an-SEO related internet promotion business and simply chose to discuss and post about their favorite topic, while at the same time endeavoring to use the SEO service they were providing content for to elevate the Key West Cafe to modern internet literary fame.
I believe that this is a faint possibility because the author of the KLP posts states something about hoping that the author will be paid well. If there is any case that this author received any payments for their work, in order to monetize the work, it would have to provide some sort of tangible real world value to some business or other, in order for the author to receive a payment, and if the writing is not being sold as a creative work through a traditional literary showcase format, it must somehow in the end contribute to enhance something that is monetized. There is no proof that anyone has received any payments, but the fact that the author mentions this possibility of a payment means that some could have been made, and there aren't many reasons someone would be paid to generate content like this. The content is either somehow monetized or its art. But it could be both.
I believe that the author intended for their work to make the Key West Cafe known post-humous but they never realized or understood what the outcome would be, or knew what effect the work would have on the public or the Peleaz family. At the time of authorship, I believe the authors intentions for the posts were sort of a dream that they eventually found actualizing before their very eyes. And they had no way to know that this dream would lead to calls, mail, and emails directed at the Peleaz family, inquiring to know who wrote the posts.
I am confident in my theory that Kutchie has written these posts himself and I believe that this is one of the most exciting and creative writing samples in this era of new writing and literary presentation to be found online. I believe the author has created a masterpiece and I am thankful to have been invited along on the action-packed, fantasy-driven, world-building ride.
I feel like I almost know Kutchie by now, as I have been inducted into his Famous World, through the thrilling artistic work, “The Tales From Kutcharitaville.”
I have been sat down at a table, I have been given the Pie. I have tried the Pie.
And it was good.

Recap of the Defenders panel at SDCC, pt. 2 (aka just a beat by beat recap of episode 1...)
If you missed, it you can catch part 1 here. I’m sure you can find videos of the panel out now, but if you wanted my additional commentary, there you go, haha :).
I’ve been writing bits and pieces of this since Friday night, so needless to say, I’m starting to get a little fuzzy on the order of the scenes and specifics b/c I was in such a state of shock while watching (and I don’t get the benefit of rewatching it right away 10 times in a row, lol), but I’ll try to recollect as much as possible, as best I can. I’ll also share some of my opinions and theories at the very end.
Some brief, non-spoilery thoughts: This was definitely a set up episode for everything that is to come, so as much as I know everyone wants answers to certain questions, you’re just not going to get to them right away. The show doesn’t hesitate to pick up the threads left from each individual series though, so don’t expect it to be slow at all. They also did a lovely job making each Defenders’ scenes look and feel like their own shows, while still bringing them all together into a new kind of feel and style for The Defenders. I was impressed by that. Anyway, if you have any more general questions, feel free to send me an ask or note.
And now...I shouldn’t have to say this, but just in case...HUGE SPOILERS FOR THE FIRST EPISODE OF THE DEFENDERS UNDER THE CUT! (Apologies for any mistakes, I wrote too much and just want to get it posted rather than spending even more time editing!)
Opening scene:
Very first scene opens in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. An unnamed man is being chased by a woman in black wielding double katanas and shrouded in darkness down some sort of sewer-like corridor, exchanging blows, and the man is clearly getting overwhelmed in the fight. Before she can land the killing stroke, Danny appears out of the darkness and jumps into the fight to draw the woman away. Danny is holding his own, but the woman is clearly a superior fighter, and lands a nice slice across Danny’s tattoo; in his shock, the woman gets the opening she needs and stabs the mystery man to death. Danny tries to chase down the woman, who is running away, and manages to land one Iron fist-packed punch on her, which sends her flying, but she disappears as quickly as she appeared. When Danny returns to the man, Colleen is with him, and we see that he’s clearly dying. After a bit of back and forth, the man tells them that their fight is not there, it’s in New York. Very mysterious, and Danny is extremely frustrated. This has apparently been one of their biggest leads in their search for the Hand, and just like that, he’s gone. Also, it’s pretty obvious this woman is Elektra, and the most impressive thing was how much her fighting skills had supernaturally improved. A small hint at the power of the Black Sky! (Note: there’s really no hint as to who this guy could be, and I originally assumed maybe he was affiliated with the Hand, like Bakuto’s faction or something? But the end credits mention Shaft, who was announced as a character on the show, and plays a big role in the Chaste, so that’s an interesting tie in!)
Opening credit sequence:
New song and graphic styles, I really can’t recall now, but think the instrumental had a kind of synth-y vibe. The backgrounds are basically outlined, lit up, 3-D maps of New York, but they form each of the different characters in their main color palette. It’s super cool. The names on the credits also utilize an effect on certain letters to make it look like a subway line design (i.e. Charlie Cox’s name has a C in a circle). It’s a cute touch and really drives the whole “New York is the fifth Defender!” thing home.
Okay, this is where the order of these scenes gets a little iffy in my head, not to mention we do switch between the characters pretty often this episode...I think I’m fairly clear on the details themselves though! I’ll basically try to summarize everyone’s scenes in one go and then summarize the closing act on its own!
Jessica Jones:
Jessica is (surprise, surprise!) passed out drunk in an empty bar and gets rudely awakened by the bartender, who helpfully informs her that it’s morning and she should probably get out of his bar. Next, we see Trish is running across the street to keep her car from getting towed, but the cop is an ass and refuses to unhook it. Suddenly, we see the car get pulled off by an inexplainable force! Turns out it’s Jessica, who snarkily asks the cop if he has a problem, and Trish has trouble holding back a smile. Now we see Trish and Jessica walking down the street with coffee cups and fighting over Jessica’s life state post-Kilgrave, one that involves a lot of drinking and zero working, which greatly concerns Trish. Trish lets Jessica know that she’s been getting a lot of interest in her story and wants Jessica to take some interviews, if only to make some extra money while she’s not working. Trish says something to the affect of, only you (Jessica) could take a personal triumph and turn it into despair, or something like that. Jessica tries to tell her not to worry. Trish takes a sip of her coffee and nearly spits it out -- turns out Jesica had handed her coffee to Trish and Trish finds out the coffee has whiskey. This got a pretty good laugh during the screening :). Jessica is then shown walking down the hallway to her apartment -- the window is boarded up and clearly hasn’t been fixed since JJ S1. There are two people standing outside the door as she approaches, a woman who seems well-dressed and pulled together, and her teenage daughter, who is snarky and disdainful toward Jessica. The mom heard about what Jessica did and wants her to take a case -- her husband has been missing for a week -- and Jessica flat out says no. As the woman presses her case, Jessica goes into mocking mode, and suggests that everyone thinks THEIR partner would never do anything like this, but usually they’re always cheating. The daughter lobs a few snarky comments at Jessica and the mom, and finally the two of them leave. Jessica seems to have a moment of remorse as she’s opening the door, turns around, and calls out to them. The woman turns around hopefully but Jessica only says that she hopes they can find him soon. The inside of Jessica’s apartment is still absolutely trashed from all of the Luke / Kilgrave stuff from S1 -- part of the scenes are shot through the hole in the wall, which is hilarious. She gets a phone call, and someone using a voice scrambler warns her not to take the case. Dun dun dun! We know what that means!!
Later on, you see Jessica sitting at her desk with her laptop open, using her expert Googling skills to learn more about missing mystery man. At this point, Malcolm strolls in, which pisses Jessica off -- she’s already told him to stop coming into her apartment, he says she gave him a key, she counters that he made himself his own copy of the key, he helpfully clarifies because he was helping her get her locks changed, banter banter banter. I want to know that Malcolm has beefed up a lot for this show. It was noticeable lol. He immediately notices she’s on her computer and absolutely lights up, asking whether she’s taken on a case? She insists she hasn’t taken it...yet, and he’s basically celebrating that she’s totally taken the case and runs over to hover over her shoulder while she’s researching, which pisses her off. They talk briefly about the guy who’s missing, and Jessica mentions that the only reason why she’s even doing this is because she got a call from someone using a voice scrambler who doesn’t want her to look into it, but surely they covered their tracks and won’t want to be found. At which point Malcolm posits the possibility that the guy is actually an amateur, and what if she could track the call back? So Jessica pulls a Jessica and calls the operator, pretending that she received a call from her grandfather who is missing from dementia and gets the number. They find the address the number is connected to, which Malcolm immediately recognizes as a super shady neighborhood that people generally used to get off the grid to use drugs, etc.
Jessica shows up at the building Malcolm helped her identify. Inside, it looks and sounds sketchy as hell -- flickering lights, sounds of people fighting and/or having sex, a real ball. She heads up the stairs to the specific apartment she seems to have identified as the exact location of the call. She bangs on the door, telling him (I assume she thinks it’s James -- the husband -- hiding out in there) that the landlord / someone already told her he’s inside. After getting no response, she does her patented doorknob breaking move (the scene we saw in the first trailer) and goes in. There’s a TV on, but the place is otherwise dim and abandoned. She slowly walks through, peeking into the bedroom and rounding back out to the living area. She spots some boxes, opens one up and inside is either weapons or explosives (I’m leaning toward the latter) -- the camera paused on it for a quick few seconds and I didn’t absorb the writing as thoroughly as I’d like, but it’s obviously something really bad.
Luke Cage:
We start out with the scene of him walking down the jail corridor, while the inmates cheer him on. It’s not super clear in the beginning, but we soon discover that Luke had his charges cleared, thanks to the excellent lawyering provided by one MR. FOGGY NELSON, who is clean shaven and sporting a very short haircut (gotta look the part at those big firms I guess!). Luke asks for Claire, but Foggy tells him only lawyers are allowed. Luke decides it’s time to hop on a bus and get back to New York ASAP. Before he leaves, Foggy gives him his business card and lets him know he can always reach out if he ever needs help starting over. Luke assures him he doesn’t need to start over, just need to move forward. Foggy helpfully lets him know that most people call him Foggy, to which Luke quips: “And you let them?” which earns a great laugh from the room :).
Now you see Luke on his bus ride back to NYC, and this scene is basically just the same scene in the first trailer with him looking out the window and seeing things like Pop’s barbershop as he drives by. He gets off the bus (which is plastered with a New Harlem Renaissance ad, so you can assume Mariah is still going at it) somewhere in Harlem and as the camera pans out, you see Ms. Claire Temple looking like her damn fine self, leaning against the wall, waiting for his return. They end up back at her apartment and immediately rock that cup of coffee, like wow, it was...physical hahaha. Think overturning furniture, going at it all over the place, I’ll admit to being slightly concerned for Claire b/c damn Luke is a strong guy, but she seemed like she was having a good time lol. In the trailer I thought they were leaning against a headboard - nope, it’s a table turned over on its side on the floor, haha. They have a nice chat afterwards, mostly focusing on what Luke might do now that he’s back in New York. He calls Claire out a little bit, saying that he knows she kept some things from him in the letters they exchanged while he was away. She confesses a lot of things happened and are still going on in the city, and she’s concerned about Luke trying to be a hero (cue the dialogue from trailer #1). At this point, there’s a knock on the door, and it’s...Misty! She’s bemused to see Luke at Claire’s place so quickly after being let out, and asks if he can take a walk down the street with her.
They exchange some small talk, apparently Misty has been made head of some sort of city-wide initiative, which is probably how they’ll take her out of Harlem and into some of the other neighborhoods in the Netflix Marvel world. They end up at a burnt out car that’s decorated with flowers, and Misty explains: there’s been a rash of somewhat unexplained deaths that bear striking similarities -- all young men from Harlem, who were recently employed at some sort of mystery job, moved their moms out of Harlem and into nice houses in what I presume is a more gentrified neighborhood of New York, but end up dead under mysterious circumstances. It could be drug running or it could be something more nefarious -- Misty doesn’t know. Luke wants to help, which Misty reacts to with skepticism (she makes a “Really? I’m going to send the guy who just got out of lockup?” kind of joke) but she mentions that this particular memorial is actually for the brother of Candace Miller, who died in LC S1. Apparently she had two brothers, so Misty tasks Luke to track down the last brother, who she last heard wasn’t exactly on the right side of the law, and talk some sense into him before the mother of that family loses her last child.
Luke heads over to the apartment building of the third brother, another interior with flashing lights, except this time with loud music. Luke encounters a group of guys in front of an apartment and asks them where he can find “insert brother’s name here b/c I honestly can’t remember it out” -- they’re about to snap at him for interrupting them and realize it’s Luke Cage, at which points their jaws snap shut and they direct him one floor up. Luke lets himself into the apartment, sees the brother, and walks up to an expensive looking speaker set up to turn down / off the music. The brother angrily exclaims, thinking that his friends are messing with his equipment and is surprised to see it’s Luke. Luke says he’s here to pay his respects, and the two have a conversation in which the brother pretty much stubbornly refuses to listen or provide any information on his brother who just died. Luke notices that for a kid between jobs, he seems to have some pretty nice things (the music / speaker system, spacious apartment, really nice shoe collection) and asks if he might have taken on the same job his brother had before he died. The boy is silent, Luke says something wise, and then leaves.
Matt Murdock:
His scene opens in his apartment, focused on some sort of Braille printer? Matt is practicing an argument for an upcoming case as the pages print off. Suddenly, he catches on the sound of someone getting mugged and you see him going into Daredevil mode and hearing the situation unfold -- Matt is visibly tensing and literally willing his body not to rush off. As he’s listening, he also hears the police approaching and containing the situation. He untenses his body and resumes practicing his speech. At this point, we switch immediately to the courtroom, where Matt is grilling a man on the stand. I couldn’t exactly follow what the incident was and what product the man’s company made, but whatever it was, it was responsible for injuring a young boy, putting him in a wheelchair. Matt is really in his element and manages to pin the executive on the stand into a corner and goes in for the kill. Then we are suddenly outside the courtroom, actually in the same courthouse we were in for the Castle trial, and the news media is there -- Matt won the case and the family of the boy who was injured were awarded $11 mil. The parents of the boy walk ahead to talk to the reporters, while the boy, sitting in the wheelchair, hangs back. Matt has a really lovely scene here when he steps back to talk to the boy, who is clearly having a hard time adjusting to his new circumstances, and gives him a Matt Murdock pep talk about handling adversity and very specifically, coming to terms with a life changing injury (wish I could share more of what he says, but I just can’t remember it and don’t want to butcher it!! It was good though). It does seem to get through to the kid, who then goes back to join his family during their little hallway press conference.
Matt turns around, and we see Karen, who was in the courtroom covering the case for the Bulletin. Karen congratulates Matt on winning the case and is complimentary toward him and what he did in the room. I think Matt also mentions Karen’s work as a journalist and she does her aw shucks Karen thing. She mentions that she needs a quote from him for the story she’s writing, and suggests that maybe they do it over a drink or a bite to eat, which Matt seems surprised at, but agrees to. (This suggests to me that they really haven’t spoken much, since the end of S2 reveal, though they’ve likely crossed paths politely since then.)
Matt and Karen are sitting in a diner, and while the atmosphere is a little awkward, it’s still friendly. They exchange some small talk about their jobs -- Karen asks Matt about his lawyering and I think this is where Matt reveals he’s doing pro bono work, although it’s possible he mentions it at the courthouse, and Karen talks about how she really feels like this is what she’s meant to do. She lowers her voice a bit and asks Matt whether he’s missed being Daredevil. He basically lies and says no. That he doesn’t regret it, but he doesn’t miss it either. Karen seems to be satisfied with that response. She has a whole line about how she really feels like they needed some time to figure themselves out and it sounds like she believes that both her and Matt are in better places now than they were before. She mentions she’s been covering the police beat and she really thinks the police are doing a good job handling the crime, at which Matt cracks a bit of a cynical smile, so maybe he actually did it...he was the hero this city needed and now they don’t need him anymore. But she thinks that right now the city needs more of Matt Murdock, and btw, she still needs that quote, and that’s just about how the scene ends. Very friendly.
EDIT!!! Didn’t realize a huge chunk of Matt’s section was missing from this recap. Damn it Tumblr, you’ve eaten parts of this post like 5 times already. This re-recap will be a bit of a rush job, sorry! Anyway, after the meeting with Karen, Matt goes to find Father Lanthom for confession. He says it’s been three days since his last confession, which suggests to me that he’s been going consistently, and often. He initially brings up the meeting with Karen, and talks about feeling bad about lying to her about not missing being Daredevil. In order to remain transparent, I will say he did use language to refer to Karen as someone he loves, but the impression didn’t come off as romantic, but more out of friendship / deeply caring for her. I really do believe he is sincere in wanting to become friends again. And nothing about the diner meeting or the conversation here feels like it’s moving toward anything more than trust building, which Matt already kind of fails at since he lies to her face there. Anyway, this part of the conversation didn’t last for very long since Lanthom takes the temperature on the situation and immediately gets to the heart of what’s bothering Matt, which I won’t bother recapping b/c you can see it in the scene below:
youtube
Danny Rand:
Since Danny was such a big part of the opening scene, he doesn’t get a traditional intro scene like the rest of the defenders in the first act of the episode, so after we’ve touched base with all of the Defenders, we bounce back into his story and find him flying back to New York on his jet with Colleen. It starts with him, alone in the bathroom, and this is where we get that dramatic scene of him wiping the mirror from the trailer. There’s little bit of editing trickery here, as he notices some weird blood splatters on the wall behind him, and he goes from the mirror to tearing off a piece of the wall? Or pushing aside some sort of curtain? And we segue seamlessly into Danny walking into some sort of eerie, abandoned hallway, all torn and tattered. We quickly notice the hallway floor is covered in bloody bodies, bodies of the dead K’un Lun monks. He passes through another doorway and there’s a whole group of them, standing in formation, covered in blood and staring down at him accusingly. He is clearly overwhelmed and confused, and turns around, only to see himself, dressed in robes and looking serious. He says something to real Danny (again, sorry about being spotty on the actually lines), which prompts real Danny to basically breakdown screaming. At this point we hear Colleen in the background, shaking him awake from what’s obviously a nightmare. She tries to get him to talk about the screaming, which he tries to shrug off as turbulence terrors, but she’s not buying it. They talk about the man they hunted down in Cambodia and it’s clear that he’s feeling guilty about his death, and is still feeling guilty about the not being at K’un Lun to protect his city. Colleen insists that it’s not his fault, but Danny remains unconvinced. Danny and Colleen return to the city and are taking a helicopter ride over the city. They’re holding hands. She’s marveling at the view and they’re discussing home -- New York is basically Colleen’s home but for Danny, even though he grew up here, he still doesn’t know if this is his home.
Alexandra:
Our introduction to Sigourney’s antagonist Alexandra lacks any bombast or fanfare, but you definitely feel...unsettled in a lot of her scenes. We first see her in some sort of nondescript building, and she’s waiting for an appointment, looking classy af. A person comes up and leads her to a really bare, empty room, and asks Alexandra to change into a patient’s gown. The nurse brings her out of the room and to a larger room with a CAT scan machine. The doctor greets her warmly but has bad news for her, which she seems to be expecting -- her red? white? blood cell count is precipitously low and her body’s organs are starting to shut down. She asks what the doctor is going to do about it, and he says there isn’t anything they can really do, which is an answer that clearly doesn’t satisfy her (“That’s not what I asked.”). When she asks how long she has, he guesstimates around a few months.
youtube
Edit: Embedded the released preview clip that corresponds with the below scene :)
We see Alexandra again in what I assume is Central Park (sorry guys, I don’t know NY!), sitting on a bench and feeding the pigeons. Again, she looks amazing. Madame Gao (woohoo!) comes into frame and says she thought she’d find her here, it’s always been her favorite spot. Alexandra muses about how surprised she is this place hasn’t already been razed to the ground and replaced with high rise buildings, she remembers when it used to be forest. She starts into a mini history lesson about New York City and how the Dutch bought it for 24 dollars -- then she drops a burn -- it was 24 dollars too much. She delivers it with such classy disdain, I love it. There’s also a hint of “Hey I was here when this happened” which tracks nicely with the hints Gao has given about her longevity / immortality...clearly Alexandra has quite a history herself. Anyway, they move onto discussion of more important things, like nefarious evil plans? Madame Gao updates Alexandra about some part of this plan and says in a few months they should be ready to make their move. Alexandra quickly shuts this down, which seems to take Madame Gao by surprise. Instead, Alexandra wants to make her move now, which Gao tries to talk her out of -- she doesn’t think it’s a good idea, they still need more time, etc etc -- but knowing what we know about Alexandra’s updated life expectancy, she obviously can’t afford to wait to make her move. At the very end of this scene, Alexandra quite flippantly tosses her bag of bird seed at Gao and orders her to finish feeding the birds. So there’s a really obvious and interesting power dynamic here...whoever Alexandra is, she’s quite used to calling the shots!
The last scene we have with Alexandra takes place after all of the scenes from the other characters, and on some sort of fancy rooftop -- it’s the one from the trailer, and I think it might be the same one Gao met with Fisk in S1? I’m not 100%. Gao lets her know that things have begun, which seems to please Alexandra greatly. And at this point, we start to see what exactly that plan is.
Closing scene:
It starts out with a rumble, almost like mild earthquake tremors. Matt is back at home after his confession with Lanthom, and his apartment is bathed in red. When the shaking starts, he freezes almost seems like he’s not sure what to do. The shaking intensifies, dust and debris flying off, and he seems actually scared at this point, kind of crouching over and covering his head. Jessica, in the mystery apartment she’s tracked down, is also looking around in a mixture of confusion, fear, and WTF as everything shakes around her. In the streets, you see huge tremors and rows of cars being propelled upwards with some sort of strange force before slamming back into the ground. At the memorial for Candace’s mother, you see her standing outside of the car and looking around in shock as the city shakes around her. A streetlamp breaks and starts to fall, but Luke appears and immediately bears the weight of the falling lamp and pushes it back up and away from her. Danny and Colleen have just gotten off the helicopter, unaware of what’s going on on the ground, but in just a few moments as they walk off the landing pad, the ground cracks beneath them and between them.
As everything crumbles outside, Alexandra calmly turns from the edge of the rooftop and walks over to Elektra in the black cloak, and says that iconic line, “It’s just a city. You’ll get used to watching them fall.”
And basically while the city is falling apart and all of our heroes are like WTF, the episode ends. I know, we were really disappointed lol.
Interesting things of note:
There’s a little scene transition device they employed, at least for the first episode, as you go into a scene for a specific character -- it was sort of a quick-cut style with visual snippets and ambient sounds and slightly colorized for each Defender. I haven’t watched Jessica Jones since it first aired, but it reminded me of that show. Not too surprising because the director for the first 2 episodes of Defenders is the same director who did JJ!
I wrote the heading for this section 2 days ago so while I may have had interesting thoughts then, I certainly don’t now, sorry lol!

I Just Strapped a Windows Pc to My Face for the first Time
The destiny of Home windows computers may want to be worn on your face quickly. These days, at a different media occasion in Ny Metropolis, we were given our arms on the first Windows 10 “mixed truth headset” from Acer. The tool is best a developer package, for now; however, it’s predicted to be commercially available by using the vacation season this year.
Insensible phrases, this is genuinely a virtual fact show meant to compete with the Oculus Rift and HTC Live, but, Microsoft is asking this blended truth for multiple reasons. First, the Acer headset consists of 3-d mapping software built immediately in, that means it doesn’t require wall mounts or separate infrared cameras to the song your position in a room, not like the HTC Valve and Oculus Rift. The alternative cause it’s being known as combined truth is because it will soon be capable of have interaction with HoloLens, Microsoft’s augmented reality headset.
According to Acer and Microsoft, this is the lightest headset on the market (weighing Just 350 grams), and after placing it on my face, it’s easy to consider. One among my largest complaints with the HTC Valve and Oculus Rift became that they weighed an excessive amount of, and after some hours, it left cheeks feeling sore from pressing towards my face. Human beings even coined a term “Oculus Face” because it has become such an difficulty after a massive VR Bender. It’s tough to imagine this Acer headset leaving imprints for your cheeks after some hours of use. It becomes splendid comfy to wear, and I incredibly by no means had to alter it—something I can’t say about the Vibe or Rift.
You attach the headset on your face with the aid of urgent the goggles up in your eyes, then clicking a ratcheting strap lock on the again of your head (much like becoming a motorcycle helmet). It’s worth noting that this precise headset tethers to a Laptop via a four meter (thirteen-foot) USB cable. It’s smooth to assume the cable was getting inside the way at some point of longer gaming classes, however for the duration of this brief demo; it wasn’t an difficulty.
The Home windows blended truth revel in—that is already baked into each Home windows 10 Computer with the Writer’s Replace—launches into something called the Cliff Residence, which mainly Just serves as your home base while you’re in virtual fact (much like a widespread Windows computing device screen).
The revel in within the Cliff Residence appears like you’re status in a multimillion-greenback beach condominium with a bunch of new partitions and a basement. You may walk around the house using sincerely taking turns round in the actual global normally, or You may use an Xbox controller to transport to different parts of the mansion by using pressing a button.
It takes just a few seconds to get your bearings after first placing at the headset, and after that, You can start launching packages via a short popup menu controlled by the Xbox controller. When you release an utility in Cliff Residence, it shows up in a big digital window that can be resized to look as even though it is as big as a film display screen or as small as a photographed body. The Windows may be resized just like they might be on an ordinary desktop. That is wherein things began to get a form of insane. Because the whole platform is based on popular Windows 10, it’s capable of running any Widely wide-spread Home Windows Platform (UWP) app. This means things like the Microsoft Part browser, Excel, Phrase, Outlook, and Xbox One video games may be run on one of the Windows within the Cliff House.windows ten mobile technical preview
We commenced the educational with the aid of navigating to “My Files,” a place of the working device acquainted to all and sundry who’s ever used a Windows machine. The folder becomes populated with a bunch of general 2d and 360-degree videos. We launched a quick surfing video that performed in 2nd on a wall within the Cliff Residence. Then we released a 360-degree video of Machu Picchu that engulfed my field of vision. While the video turned into over, I have transported again to the Cliff Residence.instalar windows seven gratis
While the My Files part of the demo was over, I walked over to a unique part of the house using navigating with the Xbox controller because I used to be too lazy to pass definitely. I was then shown a demo of the Microsoft Edge browser, which changed into plastered on Certainly one of the larger partitions inside the domestic.
I was extraordinarily skeptical approximately the use of this enormous wall-sized browser to study an editorial inside of the headset, however, followed in conjunction with the Acer excursion guide, who spoke my me through the process. Distinctly, it changed into absolutely smooth to navigate to Nasa.Gov and start scrolling via tales the use of the Xbox controller. Analyzing the article also become truly clean. I used the left thumbstick on the Xbox controller to transport in the direction of the window, similar to I would in an online game. It felt very natural, and the headset’s 2880 x 1440 decision became extra than enough to preserve the photo sharp and smooth to read.
Whether I’d ever genuinely want to do something like this is a wholly different query. It’s tough to imagine launching common applications like Outlook or Microsoft Area in virtual truth after they already work Just satisfactory on a well-known PC. I simply can’t see a motive anybody might ever need to write down an email or crunch numbers in Excel while in digital fact. The only exception to that is clear video content material, like Netflix, which could be extraordinary to observe on a 70-foot-extensive display screen. Who doesn’t need a personal theater of their very own home?
How to Pick out A handheld Strapping Machine  So you’ve been given the project of bundling together a large pile of small boxes. We could say shoe box size packing containers, and lets that there are twenty of them. So there you’re, surrounded by twenty shoe-field sized boxes, and you’ve got to get these packing containers into some possible nation due to the fact they’ve just been distinctive for cargo to a brand new storage facility. As if you were not misplaced in the task already, you are advanced has just knowledgeable you that you have six minutes to get those bins in a few sort of order. At this juncture, it is probably time to inform you that you are working alone in this undertaking. It is proper; you have to get somehow twenty shoe-field fashioned boxed right into a transportable, storable kingdom for your own, in virtually no time at all. But don’t worry, because I suppose I have the answer to you. In reality, I ought to offer you several solutions; However one specifically could be the dynamic, financial and much less wasteful solution. A powerful tool.
Strapping is a plastic or metallic ribbon/tape that holds applications together via tension. A very hard item may be made out of several packing containers just a few strips of strapping tied across the pile in vertical and horizontal instructions. Think about a traditional Christmas gift with the ribbon that ties at the pinnacle right into a quite bow. Strapping would not have a quite bow (the muscular soldiers semi-invisibly) But it is the same precept. There are numerous approaches to work with strapping from the semi-guide strap-cutters all of the manners up to the pneumatic-commercial powerful machines that wrap, pull, solder and then snip the muscular to a tension and to a timescale that no character may want to compete with.
So that you can get your head around what gear are to be had and extra importantly which one is proper for you, I’ve put together a list of the distinctive sorts of powerful tools which are to be had. I will come smooth right now and let you know that as someone who has had some enjoy with high-extent small product packaging I’m willing to favor hand-held strapping machines, in a busy and dynamic manufacturing unit surroundings they soon become your right hand.
The diverse types of powerful tools available on the market proper now range from slippers and leather gloves, handy hand-held devices and all of the manners up to big machines with conveyor belts and “preserve clear” signs. Which of these you would possibly an upon on the dimensions of the bundles orItpile of boxes you need to strap and the way fast you need it executed. Here are the main varieties of one-half gear you will need to remember:
Welders A welder (or sealer) is a manual or hand-held device that does the activity of snipping and tying the strapping collectively. Now they do no longer match the muscular due to the fact strapping is hard, flat and fibrous and might no longer tie in a knot very well. Alternatively, they use friction, warmness, pinching, pinning or staples to lock two ends of a strapping together. The resistance and warmth alternatives require energy so come in the shape of battery powered gear like the SIAT Digit Clever Welding. Pinchers, staplers, and pinners just need an excellent punch of brute force and merchandise just like the Saint SDN 25 (more facts available on our website) typify these gear in that they are ergonomic, muscle-powered giant staplers.
The own welder family does not pull the strapping tight while you’re reducing and fastening it, that is an extreme drawback in case you are running on your personal. In truth it in all fairness impossible to get a good degree of attention when you have to apply both arms and all of your energy to reduce through a ribbon of steel or even Puppy plastic. Within the family the battery powered tool is the most excellent one as it handiest requires one hand, leaving the alternative free to preserve some tension across the bundle.
Tensioners If maintaining tension is your precedence, then tensioners are what you are after. Tensioners are battery or pneumatic powered, one-hand d1e51e9fa45a0b179488752ec4930123 tools that do the process of tightening and then retaining tight the strapping prepared for slicing and sealing. Just like the hassle that welders get themselves into when you loose anxiety when you launch your grip to seal the strapping, tensioners are intricate if you have to, with one hand, snip after which seal the strapping ribbon which can thoroughly be pulled tight into the bundle. it’s miles genuinely impossible and I for protection reasons I would propose to anybody the usage of a tensioner and a separate welding/snipping gadget on their very own. You do no longer have enough hands. For a group of then, tensioners could make up one half of a text-book friend device, a ordinary snigger brothers everyday, However that isn’t the situation I am focussing on. In a group of one, tensioners are a constant headache.
Combination equipment Combination gear takes the welding and shipping automation of the battery or pneumatic powered welding tool, and contain it with the pulling-comfortable of the tensioner. This means that with one hand, at the press of a button, a knob that I might upload is ergonomically placed proper in which it desires to be. You are tightening, then snipping after which welding tight a length of wrapping round a package. if you get a threat to check out the Digit Smart LXT this is presently featured on our homepage you will get a feel of these machines. They battery powered ones are awesome fun to use. They’re reassuringly heavy, especially powerful and intuitive within the way that makes you experience comfy and assured together with your undertaking. Any power device person who has some experience with the extensive array of products inside the price range will recognize precisely what it feels like to work with a tool that weighs what it should weigh and make the right quantity of noise because of the tension increases.
Aggregate tools are the safest and fastest of the three available options. Combination devices and battery powered ones specifically are the handiest real option if the packer is running alone, (or at the quiet of a production line).
So that you’ve got your device, whichever one you selected and you are already to your manner to fixing your twenty shoe-box size containers collectively into one notable large, But perfectly tight and secure package deal. And look, with seconds to spare. And thanks to your initiative in deciding on the maximum efficient strapping tool, your superior have given you a improve. And an agency car. A BMW. What a top notch turn of occasions. And all of it started out with you considering your packaging answers.
Joking aside, I’m hoping this article has provoked some concept into how corporations with smaller quantity packaging issues can make the lives in their employers safer and more green.
