First interview has been completed, we didnt get as much as we wanted tragically but we have at least the building blocks to proceed with when we question the next person.
I am going to share the transcript below.
[The following post contains the transcript for a segment of an interview, translated from Kalosian.]
Flynn: Alright, I have a few other questions somewhat unrelated to your performances, is it alright if I go ahead and ask some of them?
Shauna: That depends. What are you interested in?
Flynn: Well, I’m interested in what you may have to share about your experience during the time of The Ultimate Weapon…
[There was a brief pause before Flynn spoke again, an intent behind his voice.]
Flynn: What did you experience?
Shauna: It was New Year's Eve. Serena had just gotten her seventh badge. There was a weird show on the holocaster where Lysandre told us about his plans or something. It's been more than 10 years, I don't remember completely. No one knew what was going on until the Ultimate Weapon emerged from the ground in Geosenge. There was media coverage about it everywhere, with broadcasts about the holocaster constantly going on. People were convinced that it was the end times, but that was what Lysander wanted it to be.
I followed Calem and Serena to Team Flare's base in Geosenge. I wanted to help my friends. I wanted to be brave. There were a lot of grunts there, admins too. I think Lysandre had recalled just about everyone in Team Flare and a lot of his employees from Lysandre Labs to the base. We had to fight against many of them to get by. We should have done a better job of hiding and sneaking around, but we were just teenagers with a team of pokemon. We weren't experts at sneaking into the bases of criminal organizations.
Calem and Serena took care of most of the trainers inside the base. I could battle, but I wasn't nearly as good as them. They were the ones who took on the gym challenge and always pushed each other to improve. At one point, we came across a door locked with a puzzle. I loved puzzles as a kid and I still love them, so I solved it using an invention by my friend Clemont – The Gym Leader in Lumiose. I remember when I opened that lock, I knew we were close to the end. That there was something through that door that would change us all forever.
We continued through the door and all the ones that followed until we were in the last room. Serena entered first and she saw what was in there. The power source of the ultimate weapon. By the time I got into the room, it was no longer providing power to the weapon, but I still knew what it was. I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw it, actually. We didn't have time to marvel at what we had found, though. Lysander had found us. His pokemon were too strong for us. His Gyarados would have killed us. He was going to kill us if he hadn't been arrested. Lysander was defeated, but not without some scars on our side.
Then he fired the weapon. We barely had enough time to get out. We wouldn’t have gotten out if we hadn’t had help, just like how we would have died without it. We watched the weapon launch and the destruction that followed from just outside of town. We didn’t want to move at all. We didn’t leave until some rescue workers checking the outskirts of town for people who escaped the wreckage found us.
[Shauna takes a shaky breath.]
Flynn: Who helped you–
Shauna, in a firm and somewhat agitated voice: I think you need to leave.

The Creature <3
It was a little tough, but I thiiink I got close? Any weird proportions are because she's a puddle of goo trying very very hard to look like the dragon she once was. And not at all because I draw side-profile almost exclusively. Don't worry about it <3

Would love to hear u talk about Rev/watt and what u like abt their dynamic
Sorry it took a little for a reply gah (I also wouldn't say I'm the best at explaining this type of stuff, so I hope I'm not just yapping
In my mind they’re both a bit curious about each other in their own ways. Wattson picks up on his nialism/suicidal ideation which is pretty obvious to anyone who is around him for more than five minutes, but I do think Natalie’s empathy would want to feel for him and be a little curious about the simulacrum and what it can/does feel, if anything. Revenant likes to toy with people but I feel like Wattson is too snarky, confident and smart to put up with/be affected by a lot of his attitude - which frustrates him but also amuses him (idk what isn’t funny about a tiny snarky french girl). Wattson isn't very phased by his manipulation/lies or cruelty in any sense (I think she’s too smart and confident for it to bother her) and will call him out for it/tease which makes him even more invested in what he prob sees as a game so he’s not gonna just kill her. I also like to think Natalie gets some kick out of bullying Revenant back too and having a bit of a mouthy dialogue with him since she doesn’t really get that with other characters.
If I'm being real I see it as a relationship that really wouldn’t go anywhere because of both their stubbornness - mostly revs since he’s not ready and probably never will be ready to let go of his ego/coldness to show anyone any sort of genuine feelings he may have. Wattson also wouldn’t put up with being put down by him every time they spoke and would ultimately stop talking to him silent treatment style. If they ever got to the point of real banter or more consistent dialogue I think it would end very quickly in a fight and/or distance
On a more delusional note - I’d like to think if her pushback is enough to draw him out of his chassis then maybe they could be something more? His small opening up could also cause more of Watt’s caring and genuine personality to be directed towards him for once when he isn’t taking everything she says and twisting it for his rude remarks, so they get to be a little more vulnerable with each other. I’m not saying that Rev would necessarily open up in a clear way, but Wattson is pretty observant and inquisitive which I feel might push him back a bit too/annoy him a bit more. They're still teasing ofc but over time it's less harsh and much more playful, which I think could lead to more genuine interactions and conversations between them :3

Hmm so two days to sit on my thoughts about how revenant ended. I don’t dislike it but I do feel a bit meh about what went down.
If you haven’t played it yet, spoilers ahead.
Now then. I am definitely not an Eramis hater (I like her and how much people want her dead is honestly disturbing) but I don’t think she should have gotten the echo. There has been literal years of buildup of Misraaks being shown as the eliksni saviour-TM, the one and only, prophecised and everything. Even in Final Shape we see him reacting to visions much like Micah meaning that he’s got high connectivity with paracausality. The Kell of Kell’s was supposed to be chosen- not by another eliksni but by the Traveller. For those who have not seen or do not remember, here it is straight up lifted from the wiki:
"The Great Machine will marvel, moved by might, and come to crown him Kell of Kells."
So Misraaks, the now official and canonical Kell of Kells, should have been in some way recognised by paracausal power. He wasn’t. Eramis chose him, we found out over space zoom call. Imagine what it would have been like, that despite Misraaks’ past wrongdoings and his current corruption the Echo looked past it all and freed him from his curse to lead his people? It would have been glorious, but no.
Next, I just… don’t like the decision of Eramis fucking off into space. Good for her, really, but I just don’t like it. Neither can I see the vanguard being happy with not knowing the Echo’s location, Eramis or not. What if something happens? We don’t know what’s out there, Eramis loses that thing we wouldn’t know.
Also how would the eliksni in general feel about that? House Salvation specifically. Eramis receives an item of great power that is specifically for eliksni and there isn’t a single moment of consideration for helping them. It’s uncomfortably similar to what Eramis hates the Traveller for doing, leaving the eliksni behind. I don’t want her to like humanity, she has plenty of reason not to, but I want her to take some responsibility over the people she was leader of who are currently experiencing being shunted into a city they never wanted to be in.
I do get she’s heading for Riis but currently the eliksni aren’t even on Riis. Whether Eramis or Misraaks, could they not have gone ‘okay Echo, we get you want to go home, but let’s help our people so the home will at least have someone to live in it’.
I honestly felt so much hope when I heard Variks’ voice lines. He speaks about understanding that the past is lost and that whilst one can remember they do need to move on- so the whiplash of the exact opposite happening was outright weird to experience.
Eramis deserves her family and her peace, I hope she finds it, but I do not think the echo was for her. Big W for one of my favourite space crabs but I’m really not feeling this one.

Centuries ago in Twisted Wonderland, there was a war. Centuries ago there were fairy queens, human kings and the weapons who fought for them.
One of those weapons lived and rusted, able to see the future past the end of the journey, even if they were never the same for it.
The other shattered. It's pieces long since brittle from too many battles, shards and dust scattered in between the many realms.
It's a good thing the shrapnel filled up the cracks in another soul as they too start a new journey into that mad, twisted world.

Thoroughly enjoyed the shamanism/shamanistic, folkloric and supernatural horror base of the show. The mysteries were quite engaging as well. Performances were obviously top-notch, and storylines wonderfully coherent and solid too.
Skipped parts of the last three episodes but due to bits and pieces here, got most of the storyline still. Ended beautifully and hopeful.
A superb 8.0-8.2.
The themes the show touched on varies and fascinatingly relevant, and I thought weaved into the folkloric and shamanistic aspects well. Human greed, wickedness, the sociopathy of the rich/powerful, will-to-live/survive, family/generational trauma, economic hardship, a sprinkle of socio-economic issues in South Korea were threaded logically and with sensitivity.
That said, the emotions about those issues could be better provoked. This was a mostly cerebral show for me, and moved me more in the mind than heart. Still excellent though.
I think one could write reams of paper on the issues brought up here though, no least the sociological aspects of the folkloric and supernatural as it pertains to human activities and emotions. Am sure there are already studies/research about those, but the show weaved them together fascinatingly.
Could not help but feel for poor Lee Hyang-Gi and her younger sister - Mok Dan - too. They were innocents in this, and hard to fault the poor girl for doing what she did after everything she had to go through. All blame were on the older Yeoms (and the shaman; even to an extent, the parents and villagers) and their greed and wickedness (which is par for the course of the privileged, especially). And of course, girls are always - commonly - the first to be sacrificed 😡🤬😭😭😭
The more sobering fact is the show and its world is considered “reality” in certain parts of the world, and not merely fiction. The use of the supernatural to further one’s ambitions, unwholesome intentions etc are common for some people. Not that I personally think they work, just that some people certainly swear by its effectiveness.
All said though, nothing wins over “The Guest” for me personally. To be fair, while both shows share certain themes, they are quite different, and I have enjoyed both, though my heart will always remain with TG. I mean, I am still shipping the characters from TG even when I have to do it alone. The shipping potential for “Revenant” is definitely there as well, and I have read a few lovely fanfic for San Yeong/Hae Sang, so there is that. San Yeong and Hong Sae would be sweet too.
Glad I finally jumped in and completed the show. Well worth the time spent on it.

Mini-rant:
Me and SBS non-Romance dramas: 왜❓(Wae/Why?!)
What is it with SBS and the non-shippable vibes of some of its shows?
I started “Revenant” with a ship (already read a few fics) and came out the other end 😅🤔🫠 This is not the first time either. Non-Romances usually have some good chemistry too, yet 😬🫥
Solid writing, memorable performances and beautiful directing with a sleek feel etc, yet the chemistry stayed firmly platonic (for me). Why???
There must be something in the “sauce” of SBS dramas which blocks my shipping-vibes antennae. Just a roundly weird phenomenon 🫠😭😔😥

sooooooo many thoughts about revenant once again. the point about capitalism still stands, quite firmly. i feel like there was also an aspect of wanting to achieve something akin to immortality (or at least a long-lasting material legacy) on the grandmother's part, which she thought she could achieve through what was essentially a faustian bargain, and we know how those tend to end up.
as for the two sisters......it's such a delicate issue. i mean the root of the problem is poverty and the desperation it can cause and that certainly does explain stuff. it's absolutely tragic they ended up the way they did. it's a vicious cycle of trading human life for material gain and it seems so inescapable (the grandmother and the shaman did it, even though they were already in priviledged positions; and so did hyangi, supposedly, who really came from poverty), even though the consequences are just as inevitable. if they get you desperate enough (though the reasons and the urgency of their situations do not compare imo), you succumb to it.
I don't have a more in-depth analysis here, I think that hinges on finding out what she actually wants with those objects. Can a ghost maybe get revenge on another ghost?

Well go on, how are you gonna lore your Argynvostholt? oO
You're right, I should have followed this up. Get some water and strap yourselves in, ok? I saved my initial brainstormy post in my drafts, so... I guess I'm prepared for this. Are you? (dun dun dun...)
First thing: I want to use I, Strahd as the Tome, as-is, full stop. And I want it to be accurate (accurate to what Strahd thinks/believes happened, anyway--not propaganda, not a mislead). This has been my biggest hurdle, re: Argynvostholt.
I, Strahd sets up the von Zarovich army and the valley it conquers as incredibly low-magic. There is magic, yes. However:
The majority of people are suitably spooked by it. The Ba'al Verzi dagger having weird runes on it and the idea that it must draw blood before it can be sheathed are very freaky. When Strahd stands stoic in the face of this weird cult object and reenacts the rite of binding himself to the land again, everybody present (even Alek, "the least pious and most hedonistic of the lot") make signs of the faith. Which of the elements in that event are even by-definition actual magic or just mundane ritual and superstition is mostly left up to interpretation. Strahd did discern some arcane power in the dagger.
Aside from the use of this particular item, the only people who ever perform what seems to be by-the-book, honest-to-god Magic is Ilona (a high-ranking cleric), and Strahd himself (who admits to having limited ability when he's still human, and describes the use of material components in a legit spell almost fifty years thereafter). Leo Dilisnya also uses a number of magical protections that he's scrounged together over the same fifty years, but his use of magic seems to be limited to the traps he had lain for Strahd (which were really solid, but ultimately not enough to defeat a vampire).
Ilona was pretty high up there as far as clerics go. The one cleric more powerful than her was their high preist Kir. The book doesn't say what his abilities were, but we know some of Ilona's abilities. She can tell if someone is telling the truth (Zone of Truth or good insight?). She can Speak With Dead, but she can't always successfully prevent someone from dying or bring them back. There's no way to tell for sure how strong she really is, or what level of life-giving necromacy she could have attempted--especially because she has an army to look out for and might be spreading her resources a little thin at any given time--but from my experiences having played clerics, I'd cast my suspicions around 6th level.
Which is nothing to sneeze at. But. If she is the most powerful spellcaster in Strahd's army (and one of, presumably, very few)...
Would they have defeated a dragon?
Sure, Strahd's army could take out a dragon. I have no doubt. It's probably a pretty sizeable force. Strahd is an effective general. Would there be a lot of casualties? Yes. It is war. That's a thing.
But it would be kind of weird if no one ever referenced the dragon. There again, whatever, I, Strahd is from Strahd's point of view, during a time immediately after the wars are over, and he is not exactly the kind of person who would boast about his victory against a dragon. It probably doesn't even phase him that much. He's probably just like, yes, of course my army subdued a dragon. It is expected. I do not fail.
But what about the revenants?
The module has this very actiony little blurb about how Strahd's army fought the Order of the Silver Dragon and the knights died horribly, and Vladimir was so enraged that he got back up as a revenant and brought a lot of other knights back with him. It's cinematic. It's cool.
But this is where it gets dicey, in relation to I, Strahd. Would Strahd's soldiers have thought twice about fighting an opposing force that will just keep getting back up again? They don't have anything for this, aside from possibly whatever Ilona was prepared for. Even ignoring the argument about which force the army fears more--their fierce human general or the walking dead--would Strahd's army have been able to win?
Against undead? Okay, sure, why not. Maybe Strahd's soldiers don't even realize they are undead, since the bodies are so fresh at that point and covered in armor anyway. Maybe they just don't notice they're fighting the same guys again. They simply don't register that as a possibility; they're just trying to stay alive in the fight. Ilona, who could probably have sensed they were undead, wouldn't have gotten close enough to them to discover it.
Okay, so Strahd's forces could possibly take down Argynvost. They could unwittingly fight a bunch of the recently-undeceased. Fine. That solves my conundrum about the setting's descrepancies in the frequency of magic and supernatural forces.
That's about where I had left it when I was going to ask ye other Curse of Strahd DMs for ideas.
I've encountered more conundrums since then.
Point One being: I think I read that revenants usually have a one-year timer on their revenge before their spirit passes on, heedless of success. But if I'm using I, Strahd as gospel, there would have been at least three years between the Fall of Argynvostholt and the start of the curse. Which means... no revenants in cursed Barovia. Their souls would only have been trapped there in perpetuity if they had still been around when the mists closed in. If they had become revenants at the initial battle, their timers would have long run out already.
I also realized that, if they had turned at the initial battle and kept fighting... Strahd's army would have just killed them again. Like.
I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. If they don't die again, what do the revenants do? Strahd's not just going to let these guys wander around, right? And it's pretty vital to the plot that Strahd's army did, in fact, win. They could not be locked in combat forever.
Do they play dead? That seems absurd for a revenant bent on revenge. If nothing else, the consensus on medieval battles seems to be that the living would loot the field of anything valuable (armor, weapens, clothing, even the raw metal of broken eqipment) and then pile the bodies into a large burial pit. I could not be convinced that a revenant would just lay down through all that.
So this is what I came up with for them, because I read that thing about the burial pit and went OH MY GOD...
It took about 24 hours for Strahd to fully become a vampire (you could say it took that long because he hadn't killed Sergei yet, but he had already been spared from death by consuming Alek's blood and was already well on his way to full-fledged vampirism by the time he enacted that part of the plan).
If we use that as a precedent for the turning process, revenants could take that long (or longer; as long as we need it to) to return to their bodies and become fully-realized revenants. It could take a long time for their spirits to be shunted toward the astral plane, break free, and return to animate their corpses.
Anyway. Do you see where I'm going with this? It's not good.
Argynvost has fallen. The knights of the Order are dead. Vladimir's vengeful spirit rages against the natural forces pulling him toward the Astral Plane, and he finally breaks free with such a force that other knights are able to follow him back through the tear in the veil to return to their bodies.
But in the meantime, the battlefield has been stripped. Equipment and other valuables gone. Half-dressed bodies thrown into a deep pit, tangled together, tens deep, heavy earth piled atop them. Rain beating it down into mud, packed tight into the crevices between them.
The revenants awake in this mass grave.
They have to dig themselves out. Gather new resources. Make plans.
Having fudged how long it takes for them to become revenants, and possibly when the timer on their revenge actually begins (after they finally claw their way to the surface?)—and maybe they're a fringe case anyway, I realized later, due to either dragon magic or shenanigans from being so near to the Amber Temple or some combination thereof?—and maybe the one-year thing doesn't even matter? Throw it out the window; I just need them to not get slaughtered by Strahd's guys before—By the time they are ready, the mists have finally closed around Barovia, three years after the Fall.
Madam Eva (who I have other ideas for, too—why? why make her Strahd's half-sister? what is that? stop giving him more siblings) meets the Order on their long-awaited march toward Castle Ravenloft, and tells them that Strahd is now trapped in a hell of his own making. Satisfied that Strahd will suffer in his new situation, Vladimir is determined to keep Strahd alive to experience all of the worst this new domain has to offer.
So. That's what I have.
TL;DR - It's the same but different.

Okay. Okay.
The situation has been dealt with.
Ryoko, Maple’s grandmother, and Ivy, Maple’s mother, are now aware of the Yveltal situation and… believe us surprisingly.
The two of them are now going to be accompanying us and helping, which is great as they have many more connections than us and are not believed to be runaway children.

A Peek at the Big March 2025 EVE Online Update
Last week we had a big patch to EVE Online… so I guess that checks off the “Revenant Update” square on the 2025 roadmap. The EVE Online 2025 Roadmap And, while it is being billed as an update to the Revenant winter expansion of last year, a lot of what is going on in it is much more ongoing fixes for the Equinox update from June of 2024, at least on the null sec side of the equation.  CCP didn’t…

"Hold your memories close to your heart.
No matter what, you must never let them go. Do you understand?
Centuries ago in Twisted Wonderland, there was a war. Centuries ago there were fairy queens, human kings and the weapons who fought for them.
One of those weapons lived and rusted, able to see the future past the end of the journey, even if they were never the same for it.
The other shattered. It's pieces long since brittle from too many battles, shards and dust scattered in between the many realms.
It's a good thing the shrapnel filled up the cracks in another soul as they too start a new journey into that mad, twisted world.
(Aka: What if The Knight of the Dawn as a spirit lingered and latched onto Yuu, being there to aid them as the plot of the game started. And what if Yuu was just a tad peculiar themselves too.)

Going back to Joker becoming a ghost unless he receives a Revenant's Retribution-
I can definitely see Jason being ok with the magical restraining order and special facility for a while. But then Joker has a near-death experience, (maybe someone tried to assassinate him, maybe he escaped and got nearly killed, or he tried to kill himself, or even just got ill) and Jason starts to get worried.
Because the ghost king said that the only way to prevent Joker from becoming a ghost is if Jason or his champion Bruce killed him first.
So. I can see this going two ways.
One, Jason has moved on with his life. He's healed, the lack of exposure to his murderer has done his mental health wonders. The Joker no longer holds so much hold over his heart and mind and soul. So, with more cold practicality than burning hot vengeance, Jason takes it as his civic duty to execute the Joker. He does so with little fanfare, taking him out simply and without drama, just the way the Joker would have hated. A quiet cathartic end, where Jason finds he has more to live for than avenging his death.
Or two, the option with more angst and strife. Only Jason or Bruce can save the world from being haunted by the ghost of Joker. Of the two of them, Jason is the revenant. They don't know what will happen to him if he fulfills his revenge. There's one record of a revenant living on after being avenged, but all accounts point to those that avenge themselves end up passing on. So. Bruce has to choose. For real this time. Does he kill the Joker to give Jason a higher chance to keep living? Or does he let Jason do it, raising his chance of dying for good?
Thinking about DP x DC Jason Todd being a revenant again. Here's my scenario. Jason gets called that by some ghost. He's like "what the fuck is that supposed to mean?" He's heard the term before but he doesn't know any actual lore. He googles it. He scrolls past the Leonardo DiCaprio bear movie. He opens the wiki. Sees the words "animated corpse" and gets a chill diwn his spine. He starts reading the first section.
Tumblr media
He closes Wikipedia.
That night he has a nightmare that his family buried him, again, this time with precautions. He wakes up in his own grave, full of stones, too heavy to move, to scream.
