BIOGRAPHY:

Jason Todd was the child of Willis Todd and Sheila Haywood, being raised in Gotham City his whole life. His mother was forced to relinquish custody on Jason when Willis married Catherine Todd. His mother was a drug addict that died of an overdose, and his father spent most of Jason’s life working for a mafia man. Leaving Jason mostly in the care of his stepmother, who raised him the best she could until his father and stepmother died at the hands of the very employer that his father worked for. Now homeless, Jason made most of his living off of petty theft and ripping off car parts for cash. 

One night, Jason came across a fancy vehicle parked in an alley, this was an opportunity that no one in his position could pass up. However, he only managed to steal two of the tires when the owner of the car, a well-known wealthy businessman. Instead of the man being angry, he offered to help him. He told Jason that he had previously been in touch with a school that recruited his son Dick. The man adopted and cared for Jason and gave him a stable living environment until he got in touch with the school, and sent Jason on his way to Novus Academy.

BIOGRAPHY:

Jackson Hyde (Kaldur’ahm/Kaldur) has always had a pretty average life growing up, nothing of it was ever too special or out of the ordinary. He had two loving parents he’d always remembered being in his life, who had two everyday jobs to pay for their average sized house in New Mexico. If you were to ask anyone the only thing out of the ordinary was the boy’s severe fear of water, keeping a ten-foot distance between him and any body of water. When it rained his father would give him permission to take the day off school and do his work from the house, and when it came to the beach, he wouldn’t even think about going. He couldn’t quite remember where his fear came from, he couldn’t remember his father telling him from a young age not to go near water. Maybe if he did the boy would have questioned it more than he did.

It wasn’t until he was nineteen, one afternoon he was doing nothing more than walking home from school when the weather changed in a split second. Storm clouds began to roll over, gusts of wind picked up and what started slow and then hit all at once. It started to rain. He was in his front yard by this point, so close to the safety of living his life in ignorance. But it was too late, the moment it started to rain on him his eyes started to glow, streams of tattoos along his body began to light up. His hands grew webbed, and suddenly it all felt right. The rain at his fingertips he could control, he could move it and for a second he seemed hypnotized by it. By the thing he’d feared his whole life, and suddenly it felt like home.

But the moment was interrupted as his father rushed outside of the house, finding his son on the lawn in such awe of the one thing he’d tried to keep hidden from him his whole life. And in a split decision, he loaded him into the car and drove. The whole ride was silent, Jackson didn’t dare speak a word. Instead, he just stared out the window, watching the scenery pass until they finally pulled into the driveway of a seaside cottage. He remembered wondering how long his father had this place for, and why exactly he had it. 

Still silent the two of them piled out of the car, his father leading him inside before finally speaking. He started telling Jackson everything, from birth until now. He told the boy that they weren’t his real parents, that his real mother was killed when he was just a boy due to experiments he survived. That his father had been missing from that moment onwards, that he was brought to the surface world before he was old enough to speak from an underwater colony in Atlantis. There was more he was going to say, Jackson could see it, but before he could manage a man stormed into the cottage, almost killing his father before turning his sights onto Jackson.

That was when agents swarmed the cottage, he didn’t know how they’d found him so fast. But the men in suits offered him a safe place in a university for students just like him while he learned to control his abilities.

BIOGRAPHY:

Hal Jordan was born in Coast City to Jessica and Martin Jordan as the middle child. As a boy, he idolized his father, a test pilot who worked for Ferris Aircraft. At age seven, his father died in a plane crash right before his eyes. Despite his family’s wishes, he still idolized his father and continued following in his father’s footsteps. On his 18th birthday, he showed up at the Armed Forces Career Center before it had even opened. 

Two years later, a dying alien and a member of the “Green Lantern Corps” crash landed his starship in the Californian Desert. Hal was the first one on site. Having selected a replacement officer for his position, the ring chose Hal Jordan for his ability to overcome great fear. The ring and it’s abilities were explained to him and he inherited the mantle of Green Lantern. Acting as a galactic police officer, it was his job to serve and protect all life in Sector 2814. He learned there were other Green Lanterns all across the universe, all monitored and empowered by mystical creatures called the Guardians. Hal received training from some of the best the Corps had to offer. 

As Green Lantern, Hal Jordan patrolled the galaxy and took missions in space, however, he continued to spend his time at home on earth, working at Ferris Aircraft. One day, he was met by some men from a government agency called A.R.G.U.S. who asked him about the alien spacecraft that had crashed in front of him and the ring he acquired. Eventually they explained who they were and asked him to accompany them to Florida to attend a school that would give him everything he needed to become the best Green Lantern he could become. He agreed and headed to Florida.

BIOGRAPHY:

Though born a simple human, Leslie Willis was always in her own way shocking. After graduating high school at the top of her class, Leslie attended a popular university in Metropolis, Kansas, though her only reason for going there was their radio opportunities. Soon her internship at the local college radio station turned into a full-time job where she had her own late show. Leslie used her time to address controversial topics no one else would touch on. No one was immune to the shock jock’s venomous words, not even Superman. She took cynical joy in bashing on the Man of Steel during her broadcasts.

One evening during a severe thunderstorm warning, Leslie was hosting a rock concert in honor of her first year anniversary working at the radio station. Ignoring her producer’s warnings about the coming storms, she demanded the show go on. As the show started, a huge bolt of lightning struck the stage and it caught fire, trapping the DJ. Another bolt was headed right for the stage, but she was saved by none other than Superman who pushed her to safety and took the shock. The lightning ran through one of the wires and electrocuted Willis.

When the girl woke, she saw that her skin had turned ghostly white and her hair turned blue. On the television in her hospital room, they spoke of the incident. One live reporter, a co-worker of hers, insinuated that Superman, fed up with her criticism against him, may have pushed her into harm’s way to punish her for her arrogance. She blamed Superman for her transformation caused from the freak accident, refusing to take the fact that she should have shut down the concert that caused her transformation in the first place. Angered by the thought, Leslie ripped the alarm clock from the wall. She was about to whip the clock at the television when it suddenly turned on. There was no power to it and no batteries in it. She discovered she could manipulate electricity, but she wasn’t the first to know this.

Soon after her waking up, two people representing a government agency were in her room. They detected strange electromagnetic frequencies that traced back to her and insisted she come with them to a place called Novus Academy where she could train and learn to become a hero. More vigilante justice was the last thing she wanted. That’s what got her into this mess in her mind so at first, she declined the offer but soon enough, their insisting sounded more like she had no other choice.

BIOGRAPHY:

Sandra Wu-San was the goddaughter of a martial arts expert named O-Sensei. When Sandra Wu-San’s sister was killed, a mysterious man approached her and convinced her that a man named Richard Dragon had killed her. Sandra became determined to avenge her sister’s death but knew that she had to train if she were to have any hope of defeating Richard Dragon. While training, Sandra discovered that she had a natural talent for the skills and movements required for martial arts. She trained for years, eventually reaching a point in her martial arts training where she felt that she was ready to find Richard Dragon and avenge her sister. She decided to take up the code-name Lady Shiva and eventually tracked Dragon down, luring him into a trap. However, Dragon revealed to Shiva that he did not kill her sister and the man that told her he had was someone that worked for him and wanted Dragon dead. He then explained who the real killer was and that he had already killed him in battle.

Shiva came to the devastating conclusion that she had no more purpose in life and that all her training had become a waste. She decided to aid Dragon with some of his missions because all she knew was how to fight. Dragon let her come along in hopes that she would decide to use her skills for good. After many years, Dragon decided to retire and he told Shiva about a place he heard of where she could use train further and her mastery in martial arts for good.

BIOGRAPHY:

Tara was the result of an affair of the king of Markovia and an unnamed woman, making her the illegitimate princess of Markovia. The king decided that it would be best if he sent her to the United States of America to prevent the ruin of his public image. Because of Tara’s heritage, around the time of puberty, Tara developed powers to mentally manipulate earth. When she was 14, she ran into a doctor named Helga Jace, who adopted her and brought her back to Markovia and, in secret, helped her gain control of her powers to the best of her ability.  Soon after the doctor told her of her origin, Tara left Markovia again and went back to the United States. When she was 17, she started using her powers to do illegal work for people. A year passed, and she caught the eye of Novus Academy and was soon sought out and recruited for the school.

BIOGRAPHY:

Arella, Raven’s mother, was chosen to become the bride of the demonic Trigon. Abandoned by the demon rather than her becoming his queen, Arella was bent on suicide when she was taken in by the pacifistic disciples of Temple Azarath, a group who had centuries earlier forsaken life on Earth to pursue their own nonviolent lifestyle. In their inter-dimensional world, Raven, Arella’s daughter by Trigon, was born. Fearing that the child would bring evil among them, Juris, a magistrate of Azarath, attempted to cast the infant Raven into Limbo, only to be destroyed himself. Azar, the spiritual leader of the temple, then took the young Raven under her personal tutelage, instructing her in the truth of her parentage, and in pacifism, meditation, and the submergence of her emotions to resist Trigon’s influence, while perfecting her powers of teleportation, astral projection, and empathic healing.

Later, after Azar’s death (in which she entered another plane of existence), when Raven was plagued by prophetic dreams of Trigon and, defying her teachers, she confronted her demon father in Limbo at his bidding. Trigon spared her and Arella after satisfying himself that, upon his return when she reached adulthood, he could seduce Raven into becoming his ally. When Raven turned fourteen, she sensed Trigon’s power returning and fled to Earth. An agent of A.R.G.U.S found Raven and offered her a scholarship to a school where she could continue her existence in an environment safe from her father.

BIOGRAPHY:

Born to a family of acrobats, Richard Grayson was a star member of the group “The Flying Graysons of the Haley Circus.” He was home schooled during the day and in every circus show every night. While on tour in Gotham City, he overheard a well-known and feared crime-lord, threaten the performers unless the circus’s owner paid extortion money. The owner refused, and that night Dick watched in horror as his parents’ high wire snapped, sending his parents hurtling to their deaths, all while many of Gotham’s elite watched on. Young Dick felt responsible because he didn’t warn his parents in time. Now orphaned, he left the circus that night and stayed in Gotham City, a wealthy man, who was at the circus the night of his parent’s deaths, recognized the young Grayson and took the boy into his home as his legal guardian and began to raise him as his own.

In these years he spent with the man, Dick trained extensively hoping to one day get justice for not only his parent’s deaths but every wrong doing he could. Dick and his guardian was approached by an agent of A.R.G.U.S. on the street and offered now 16-year-old Dick a spot on the roster at an exclusive academy, dedicated to making heroes. This was an offer he couldn’t refuse, with the approval of his guardian, he packed his bags and headed Novus Academy.

BIOGRAPHY:

Coming from a long line of heroes, her mother a vigilante hero and her father a police officer, Dinah Lance knew what she wanted to become at a young age, a hero, and at the age of 17, she would put that plan into play. After the death of her father, Dinah’s mother strived to keep her daughter safe from danger, this caused friction between the two of them. Against her mother’s wishes, Dinah was determined to find someone to train her. She looked restlessly until one day, her mother broke down and opened her old contact book. Pulling the number to the head of a trustworthy government agency, A.R.G.U.S., she found out about a new school that would train her to use her ability, the ‘canary cry’, and to better her fighting ability. Ecstatic about this opportunity, she accepted, packed her things and left for Florida.

BIOGRAPHY:

Born to General Sam Lane and his wife Ella, Lois and her younger sister Lucy spent a majority of their childhood moving between various army bases around the country.  Lois’ father, who had originally been expecting a boy, was always very strict with her, pushing her to do her best and even going so far as to put her through combat training.  The older Lois grew, the more distant her relationship with her father became, especially after her mother passed away.

Even from a young age, Lois had an appreciation for writing, and always found that the truth was far stranger than fiction.  On the rare occasions where she was able to witness inexplicable or superhuman events, she always made sure to write it down and try to figure out a logical explanation.  When she was fifteen, and her family was staying in Metropolis, she even tried to apply for a job at the local newspaper office by lying about her age.  It didn’t work, though the story did cause quite a buzz in the journalism community around the area, but that didn’t curb Lois’ craving for overachievement.  She wanted to prove that she was capable of handling any challenge that life threw at her.  

After high school graduation, she was contacted by Novus Academy with an offer to come study among an extremely powerful and diverse community of students.  Lois packed her bags as fast as she could.

BIOGRAPHY:

Mera was raised in an underwater city called Xebel, which is located deep within the waters of the Bermuda Triangle. The people of Xebel were exiled from Atlantis many years ago and were trapped within the Triangle, the gateway to Xebel only opening for the unlucky sailors who happened to shipwreck there. The people of Xebel’s time there caused them to grow very cold towards Atlantis and all of its people.

Being that Mera was of a royal background, the decision was made for her that she’d also marry into royalty once she came of age. One day, Mera’s father received word of a boy who was of both land and Atlantean descent. The boy’s name was Arthur Curry, and he was the heir to the throne of Atlantis. Throughout her life, Mera was trained to master her powers, so that when the time came, she would be able to leave Xebel and kill the future king of Atlantis.

After years of searching, the people of Xebel had finally been able to locate Arthur. The time had finally come for the girl to fulfill her duties, and so she set out to murder Arthur Curry before he was given the chance to discover Atlantis and claim the throne as King. He was now a student, attending the Novus Academy, which was located in the state of Florida. Prior to her departure, she was promised to be the betrothed of a man named Nereus. Their wedding was to take place upon her return to Xebel.

Her father’s orders in mind, Mera used her powers of water manipulation to trick the agents into letting her become a student of the Academy, so that she may fulfill her destiny and return home.

BIOGRAPHY:

Pamela Isley was born to wealthy and distant parents in Seattle, Washington. Throughout her childhood, she was raised and schooled at home with hardly any friends at all. Because of this, she grew emotionally attached to the house plants in the mansion. Her time was spent caring for these plants until they got to unreal sizes. When she was 15 years old her parents returned from a long business trip and demanded that the plants be trimmed or trashed. This disturbed Pamela deeply, so much so that she left home and attended public high school. To support herself, she signed up for an internship with a renown Botanist, Jason Wooodrue. It didn’t take long for the young doctor to seduce her, and begin testing his experiments on her. Pamela nearly died twice and the last experiment left her in the hospital for six months. Enraged by his betrayal, Pamela lost her mind and often went through violent mood swings, taking her anger out on all men.

Upon leaving the hospital, Pamela hunted down her ex-boyfriend, explained what he had done to her, then kissed him, killing him almost instantly. Soon after this she was taken away and held in the county prison until A.R.G.U.S. got wind of the situation. They promised to get her out of the prison and into a school with excellent biology facilities as long as they had her word that she wouldn’t use her abilities for bad. At first, she denied, saying she was more comfortable in the cell but Ivy couldn’t resist the promise of her own greenhouse though she had no intention of becoming the hero they expected her to be.

BIOGRAPHY:

Barry Allen was born two weeks late, to Henry and Nora Allen in the small midwestern town of Fallville, Iowa. The lateness of Barry’s birth only foreshadowed his habit of always being late. Barry grew up reading the adventures of his favorite superhero, Jay Garrick, the original Flash and acted many of his hero’s adventures out with his friends. When he was 11, his mother was murdered and his father was wrongly convicted of the crime. The drive to prove his fathers innocence gave Barry a strong belief in justice. Aside from comic books, Barry had a love of chemistry, which eventually landed him a scholarship to Sun City University. He decided then that he would graduate university with a major in organic chemistry and a minor in criminology. 

When he was 17,  he helped the authorities apprehend a bank robber, and he was offered a job as a police scientist for the Central City Police Department Scientific Detection Bureau. Eager to be in the sister city of his childhood hero’s home, Keystone City, he quickly accepted the offer. One night during an electrical storm, Barry was working on an experiment at the police department, when suddenly, a bolt of lightning streaked through a window, shattering a chemical cabinet and covering Barry in the electrified chemicals. After cleaning the chemicals up, he decided to return home in a taxi. However, the taxi started to pull away without noticing him. Barry sprinted after it, only to run straight past it as if it had been standing still. He decided to sit down and recollect his thoughts at a diner. A passing waitress accidentally spilled the items of her tray onto Barry, who amazingly caught them all in mid-air and returned them to the tray. 

Barry decided to use his newly discovered powers to stop crime just like in his favorite comic books, with his background in science, he made himself a suit that would help with his powers and called himself the Flash, a tribute to his childhood idol. One night while relaxing at his home, he heard a knock at his door. The man at the door explained that he was an agent of a government agency called Argus and told him about a school for people like him. After learning that the school would help him with his powers and the agents had already been to his work and talked to his boss about leaving, he quickly accepted, packed his bags and left.

BIOGRAPHY:

Born a warrior princess on the planet Tamaran, Koriand'r received all the privileges, honors, and dignity of royalty on her planet. Being the second daughter, but the first to be considered a Tamaran Princess in over 100 years, her older sister Komand'r began a violent sibling rivalry, though it was never Koriand'r intention to steal the spotlight. For many years she was tormented by her sister and in the end she would end up falling like a comet to Earth. Once she awoke she was on a strange new planet in the care of a government agency called Argus. Koriand'r was intrigued by the new place and decided to stay. The agency offered her a place at a school called Novus Academy in an attempt to keep her close. She agreed and enrolled.

BIOGRAPHY:

Jinx led a relatively normal life in India, although she always knew there was something different about her. She had unusually pale skin and bright pink hair, she looked nothing like the other children around her. She was troubled, she lived on the edge, dangerously, getting away with petty crimes just because she could.

When Jinx was thirteen she learned she has probability manipulation powers which she generates in waves or balls of energy known as hexes. Her probability manipulation powers allow her to dodge projectiles, bestow bad luck on her enemies, break objects and fire powerful waves of energy.

There were only four other acolytes in the East Indian temple where Jinx trained, and after she had learned the secrets of sorcery, she was the only one left, having used her dark powers to kill the others and her teacher. Jinx was eventually captured and sent to the US, where prisons were capable of holding a meta-human such as herself.

When Novus heard about the girl they knew that they had to have her. So they flew to where the US was holding Jinx. They gave the girl the option to come to the school and learn how to use her powers for good or rot in the cell. Reluctantly, she picked school.

BIOGRAPHY:

When Kara’s father, Zor-El, realized that Krypton was about to explode, he placed his infant daughter on a spaceship and shot it towards Earth. This occurred at the same time that the infant Kal-El (Kara’s cousin Clark Kent) had also been launched on a ship towards Earth. However, Kara’s ship traveled far more slowly than Kal-El’s ship which resulted in Kara arriving on Earth later than her cousin. Kara’s ship was called the Symbioship and it was designed to keep her in a stasis mode during her flight to Earth. To ensure that Kara’s mental development kept pace with her physical growth, the ship provided her with a virtual reality that gave her life experiences and education as if she had grown up on Krypton rather than in stasis. During her long journey through space, she was able to interact with virtual copies of her parents and friends in her home city of Kandor. When Kara’s ship finally arrived on Earth, she appeared to be in her mid teens. When her ship landed, ARGUS was contacted immediately after the police knew what happened. When ARGUS arrived at Kara’s landing spot they spoke to her about a school and offered her a home there.
