Val: Which one of you did this? Who talked to the paper? Maude 'Befriended the staff at the salon'. 'Worked on the docks?' That sounds a little too familiar. Don't you think, Len?

Casey: Why are you looking at me? Not me. I liked Maude, sweet old lady. Loved when she'd hit my shins with her cane on her way out for her happy hour red next door. She was great.

Aly: Didn't she threaten feeding you to the sharks off the docks if you didn't annunciate and brush your damn hair?

Bodhi: Nope. That was me.

Casey: Hey I might've been the one who picked up the phone, but she who shall not be named came up with the idea—

Sav: Damn, you broke quick. Whatever, she would approve. She tried to push me into the FedEx truck once. I told her I'd come back and haunt her if she ever acted on that senile old lady schtick again. The Obit's not even bad, made her sound cool.

Val: She kinda was for doing that —

Bodhi: Well ladies and Case, Sav, those cats are gonna go quick — my three o'clock bailed so you know the drill...

Val: The cats? Sav: The cats? The fuck?

Aly: You know what else is gonna go quick? That apartment. It smells, it smells a lot and I know it because I took up Maude's mail when she'd forget it when she was busy trashing all our hair. Sav, aren't you still freeloading off that cute chef guy?

Sav: Oh god, besides it's fumigation process, there's no way. That shit has to be expensive as fuck. I bet it smells like her too, cat piss and Maude.

Val: Yeah, probably. Maude and her patoulli smelling ass will be the one to haunt you, for sure. But you want a place of your own again right? Better get on it, Kayla's looking and would snatch it in a heartbeat.

୨୧ lando was streaming resident evil village one afternoon, wanting a switch up from his usual games and he’d heard good things about this one so why not play it?

♡ little did he know how much a video game would absolutely change his life <3

୨୧ within and hour he reaches castle dimitrescu

♡ he’s immediately in awe of one character, but it’s not who you’d probably think…

୨୧ instead of simping for lady dimitrescu, like most people do, he was down bad for bela dimitrescu who just so happened to be voiced by you!

♡ he was VERY vocal about how much he was in love with this character but especially her voice… almost demanding his chat to give him the name of her voice actress…

“ guys, who voices this character here? god, she’s got such a lovely voice hasn’t she? can’t just be me who thinks that… ” ( it definitely wasn’t just him, he converted almost his entire chat info bela dimitrescu worshipers )

୨୧ not long after he begged from the voice actresses name, multiple people in his chat post your social media handle and as soon as he sees it filling up the chat, he pauses the game to take a peek

“ bloody hell! that’s her? well the face certainly matches the voice, hm? she’s beautiful ” ( this clip of him goes absolutely insane on twitter )

♡ when you guys officially begin dating, lando goes on a binge, playing almost all of the games you’ve voiced a character in!

୨୧ one of the most infamous being until dawn, which he played on stream…

♡ he had no idea how easy it is to lose a character in that game and you didn’t tell him, wanting to see how far he could get before killing someone off

୨୧ it didn’t take long at all and the first character to die was yours :( you got your jaw pried open and head crushed by a wendigo

“ oh bloody hell, love! i’m sorry, oh fuck, that’s horrible, is it over? i’m so sorry, oh my god… ” ( you could be heard laughing so loud in your shared bedroom before coming in to offer him some comfort )

♡ safe to say lando was fucking traumatised… to see your face and hear your brutal screaming, it was way too much for him and he felt horrible! it was enough to make him restart the game

୨୧ on his second playthrough, he just wants to keep your character safe, all the others can get lost, he doesn’t care but his baby? she’s making it OUT!

♡ and your character does make it out! she was the only one left alive but lando is fine with that, as long as you’re alive

୨୧ whenever you’re on a comic-con panel, you’ll get a question about lando every once and a while

♡ like most voice actors and actresses, you the the motion capture for a lot of your characters too!

୨୧ this has led to a lot of footage of you and lando behind the scenes of games making into “ the making of ” documentaries!

♡ a fan favourite being the documentary for the last of us part II! it had quite a few clips of lando coming onto set and constantly making you laugh during scenes, making crude gestures towards you and calling you “ dotface ”

୨୧ he got kicked off set many times… but that wasn’t enough, oh no! naughty dog wanted revenge for how many times they had to reshoot a scene…

♡ so they got their revenge in the form of lying to lando! they told him they wanted to give him a simple, innocent cameo in the jackson section of the game! he’d be an innocent npc

୨୧ lando was so excited! he agreed right away, letting them take the 360 scans of his face and body, he couldn’t wait to see himself when he played it on stream!

♡ when he did play it on stream, he was incredibly confused as to where he was in jackson, he couldn’t find himself… but he figured maybe he just missed it! all the while you’re sitting in the next room, watching his stream with a downright evil smile on your face

୨୧ he comes across his face and body a little later in the game and oh boy, he was SO upset!

♡ his character wasn’t some innocent npc… oh no… his character was a wlf member that ellie, your character, has to brutally kill to proceed with the story

“ that’s me! for fuck sake! love, did you know about this?! ” ( of course you knew, but you were too busy laughing at how upset he was to answer his question )

୨୧ safe to say he never trusted a developer ever again…

♡ lando is a HUGE shipper for a lot of your character’s relationships!

୨୧ seyloy? he’d scream it from the rooftops, he was rooting for them to just kiss already for the entire burning shores dlc and he yelled SO loud when they finally did <3

“ finally! you know i was getting really worried they wouldn’t make it official… thank god ” ( again, you can just be heard laughing in the background before yelling out “ seyloy for life ” which he repeats back to you whilst chuckling )

♡ one of your favourite characters you’ve ever had the pleasure of voicing is clementine in telltale’s the walking dead!

୨୧ it was the first character you EVER voiced at the age of 8 and you really grew up alongside your character, always coming back to voice her in the following seasons as she grew up

♡ the final season at age 16 was especially special to you because it reveals clementine to be bisexual, just like you… and it’s how you came out to your fans too

୨୧ you and lando have said if you ever have a child, you’ll give them the middle name “ clementine ” because of how much the character means to you <3

♡ of course, children aren’t something you two plan to have very soon so you adopt a dog and end up naming her clementine ( you love calling her sweet pea too )

୨୧ you and lando treat her like a princess and take her everywhere with you guys! one time, you bought her a little replica of clementine’s hat and lando thought it was so damn cute, he made you wear yours and got a picture of you two together before sending it to EVERYONE he knows

♡ whenever you get new roles, he’s so excited for you!

୨୧ he loves letting you practice lines with him at home, though he can never stay serious for long and starts cracking jokes within ten minutes

♡ but he really is just so supportive! when your new game trailer releases, he’s sharing it on ALL of his social medias, flexing about how he has such a talented partner who has played all of these amazing characters and don’t even get me started about when he’s in the paddock… he talks about you to EVERYONE who’s willing to listen

“ well, she has a new game coming out soon so she’s pretty excited to see fan reactions to her character in that and then she has some panels to do as well ” ( it won’t be long before he’s pulling up pictures of some of your characters to show them too )

୨୧ and whenever he’s in the city, if he sees a billboard or any other type of promotion for your upcoming game, he always takes a photo before sending it to you! if you character is on the promotion, he’s asking if you know “ who that beautiful lady is ”

♡ if any of your characters get figurines, he buys them ALL!

୨୧ he has a shelf for them in his streaming room, next to the shelf with his racing stuff on it… two things he loves so much right next to each other

♡ since oscar is also a pretty big gamer and plays some games that you have a character in, it’s pretty common for him to send lando pictures of character at unflattering angles, jokingly asking him “ is this your girl? ”

୨୧ to which lando promptly responds “ yes, yes it is, and what? ”

♡ when you were nominated for a best voice actress award for your role as aloy in horizon forbidden west at the game awards in 2024, lando was ecstatic for you!

୨୧ you’d already won two previous awards, one for your role as clementine in telltale’s the walking dead and another for your role as ellie in the last of us part II in 2023, so if you won again, this would be the second award you’d received whilst dating lando

♡ he dresses up SO good for the awards, just as you do of course, and as soon as you arrive at the event and your pictures are posted to social media… oh it was a frenzy

♡ the award show is going great, you and lando loving to see all of the other incredibly talented people receive their awards and chatting to people around you but eventually, it’s time for the winner of best voice actress to be revealed…

♡ when your name is read out as the winner, lando lets out the loudest yell right in your ear before helping you stand up and giving you a tight hug

“ YES! oh i knew it love, i knew you’d win! go on, go get your award, i love you ” ( he gives you a quick peck before you walk off too, no doubt being screen recorded by fans watching at home )

୨୧ while you’re on stage accepting your award and giving your speech ( making sure to thank lando at least twice for his constant love and support ) he’s filming you and taking pictures of you on his phone, as if there aren’t multiple professional photographers doing that for him, he looks like a proud mother holding his phone up and very quietly cheering you on from his seat

♡ you guys go out for dinner with some of your co stars after the award show ends, lando constantly telling you how proud of you he is

“ i’m so proud of you, you know that? you deserve it so much, you really do, love ” ( he has so much love in his eyes whilst saying it, it’s nearly enough to make you cry )

absolutely obsessed with the fact that gamerbros who want to find every possible reason to hate monster hunter wilds are insisting that erik is a trans man

this game is already doing a bunch of shit they must be fuming over. i can't imagine how mad the dual armor system is making them. or how voices and walk cycles and other character creation features also aren't gender-locked. i know before the game came out, some of them were pissed about olivia, bc she's a woman with short hair who wears full armor and isn't overtly feminine. (butch lesbian olivia is real to me)

but this? they just made this up???? apparently they're debating whether he's a femboy or a trans man, and like, realistically speaking, he's just a twink. but honestly this is awesome. 100% headcanoning him as trans now. he was already my fave npc in the game (a high bar, they're all really good)

they also complain that his VA is a woman. and to be fair, in the original jp, it is. this is hardly unusual though and mitsuki saiga has voiced plenty of guys. this is normal practice for animated guys meant to have softer/higher voices!

his eng VA, though? a non-binary person who also, notably, plays a ton of guys. i'd argue they mostly play guys. you might recognize them from their hit role as chucklefuck in the eng dub for dungeon meshi! so if they want to argue that a VA's gender is indicative of their character's gender, there you go! casey mongillo is trans! not a trans man, however, and knowing these people they're also referring to casey as a woman, but no one said they were smart

FUN FACT: the penname I use for this blog is a reference to a really old and beloved OC of mine called Casey Palmer, who features in NEON//BYTE (and possibly NEON//HEX) as an NPC. I definitely didn't develop a parasocial father/daughter relationship with him in my teens...

Even Funner Fact: Casey is my Lore Guy. I do this thing in my notes sometimes where I write lore from the perspective of an in-universe character to make it feel more real and conversational.

Every time I do one for this universe, I'm imagining a giant ex-soldier with a ginger ponytail and big beard straddling a chair and dropping mad insights about the stuff he's learned on his travels.

i haven't read the og homestuck and epilogues for a while so maybe it's been shown or implied but like, where is John's first-adopted salamander wizard daughter Casey???? Did they just dump her somewhere after the comic ended?

She ends up in the battleship with John and Jade where she becomes part of the consorts and Carapacians playing the Ghostbusters MMO. Neither John, Jade, or Davesprite acknowledge her existence. Rose may implied to miss her as she named a library of Cantown after her. Upon entering the Alpha session, Casey would gain powers to raise the dead Consorts of said Alpha Session and would join with Jane and Jake in fighting The Felt in [S] Collide. But after that, no one knows what happened to Casey after said timeskip to Earth C's civilization. Most assume she dead. No monument given to her in the Consort Kingdom either. Not like Jake, Dirk, or even GCatavrosprite are connected to her like John and Rose. And neither John or Rose acknowledge or remember her presence in either Candy or Meat. The writing team and the fandom accepted that the consorts are NPC and mindless animals. They are unimportant like the Carapacians who aren't Wayward Vagabond, Aimless Renegade, Peregrine Mendicant, The Midnight Crew, and the White/Black King/Queen. Why should anyone care about them?

Masculinity & appearance observations in Alan Wake 2

This may not be a fully coherent post but bare with me, I'm writing some observations on different men in AW2.

It goes without saying that while there's more diversity in the game vs their previous AW game, the majority of characters are still men so I thought it'd be fun to look at some of them.

Alan/Scratch/Zane/Seine: I think Alan is, appearance wise, somewhat generic. White, male, dark-haired and bearded protagonist. However, him being a writer first makes him more unusual in the game world. Usually, a male protagonist is an adventurer, a soldier but while Alan has some basic knowledge of firearms and uses them, it's not his main profession nor is it his main weapon, that would still be the flashlight and even then, his sections aren't as action-packed as the first game.

His mental health and constant confusion also makes him deviate from the standard of your typical male hero (even in the horror genre) These traits are not often seen in men in games, who are supposed to be stoic, confident, heroic and aggressive. The latter trait being very overt in Mr Scratch who behaves more animalistic in AW2 than AW1.

Finally, you have Zane who is nothing like we've seen him in AW1. He has more personality and a completely different look. Especially in the motel sequences. As Ilkka had said himself, Zane can love whoever he wants and his romantic/sexual freedom is reflected in his fruity outfit. The leather pants, bracelets, necklaces, shirtless or bare-chested with a loose blouse or just a blazer on. He wears eyeliner and is much more expressive in both body language and voice. His hair is literally not straight. The contrast is prominent when he's directly played against Alan who has a more muted posture/attitude and outfit. Only in YY where Seine portrays Veikko, does he wear a formal, typical masculine suit in the writer's room but interestingly, when he exits the Well, he wears the leather pants and is shirtless again.

Casey: In any other game, Casey probably would've been the protagonist. Somewhat stoic, knows how to handle weapons, an ex-wife, etc. But through interactions with his partner Saga and through Saga's mind place, we know Casey to be not just a hard-boiled cop (like his Dark Place counterpart/Alan's Casey). He seems to have a soft spot for Saga and her family (directly shown in that photo of him doing the dishes during Logan's Bday party).

Warlin Door: Door is a well-composed man and great talk show host. However, when the camera isn't rolling and he confronts Alan, his attitude shifts and he becomes dead serious and calculated. Alas, we don't see or know much more about Door besides his appearance on the talk show. He is one of the few men of color with a prominent role and I think he has the most screentime (Steven Lin and Ed Booker having significant less screentime) (On a sidenote, it's great to see how much David Harewood enjoyed playing this role and I hope they do more with his character in the future)

The Anderson Brothers: Their age doesn't make them stop dressing like rock and roll stars: the combat boots, the leather jacket/coat. Tor seems to be wearing a Viking-inspired necklace and subtly has braided his beard to look the part as well in this iteration of him. I don't have much else to say about them.

The Koskela Brothers: Them with many NPCs in Watery embody the male, working class. They are blue-collar workers: Jaakko's construction pants, Ilmo's fishing waders and on top of that, their leather jackets to signify their involvement with the Kalevala Knights motorclub. Ilmo is assertive, an active business man with a whole lot of plans. Jaakko is a bit different, having some traits and a role that you also don't often see in male videogame characters. He is a single dad who seems to care about his kids, and unlike Ilmo, Jaakko is introverted with a more monotone voice for most of the game. However, his appearance is very manly with a big mark being of course his beard. Through notes, it's also apparent he's the maintenance guy in Coffee World.

Ilmari: Now I'm not too well-versed in Finnish history, but a fellow fan pointed out that Ilmari and his men might've been based of of the puukkojunkkarit (knife junkers/fighters) Historically, these were troublemakers in the Ostrobothnia region of Finland. On the wiki page it's also said that people respected them becos they dared to stand up against society and authorities. (Which is interesting, because Ilmari is somewhat connected to Ilmo who also shows to be anti-authoritarian.) The gang clearly seems to be of the lower class when you look at their outfits. Ilmari, however, seems to be richer. The shirt looks nicer, he wears that bolo tie and the leather jacket.

Steven Lin: So Steven is the only Asian male character that is named and has a bit of dialogue in the game. He is a technician with the FBC and is seen talking to Ilmo and Saga. Can't help but notice that the technician is an Asian guy. The seems to be a standard Asian male Taken and citizen (which is also used as the FBC agent arresting Ilmo) and I think that's about it when it comes to Asian male rep. I'm adding Steven becos as an Asian guy, rep can be severely lacking lmao.

Besides some racist remarks toward Saga, I don't think race has been really discussed unless I've forgotten something.

I WHATTT???? CASEY AND MIRA.

I have the strong headcanon that Casey DO know how to socialize, he was pretty independed out from the war part. He and other orphans or recruits of the resistance would sleep in the same quarters or even have their own recess after training. I feel Casey and Mira are very alike when it comes about their origin, kids who only know about “dynasties and dystopias” (arcane reference, pls get it). Anyway, Mira and Case would genuinely be pretty cool together, I see them rambling and chatting with the other when they see each other Im the HQ. Unlike Case, Mira would not be as a a high level as him, since, Casey was practically a right hand man, (His uniform is different from the other soldiers shown in the rottmnt cut where they get killed by a laser. You see it matches the turtles AND April), Mira would be more of a less likely to work so close with masters/superiors since she is still training. I think they would be very nice to the other, woth playful bangers sometimes. And of course, I think either they are doomed by the narrative or Mira is going to be just an npc.

Im getting really tired of "speedster = Hollywood ADHD" thing.

The boomer lizards at Paramount only knew sonic was a speedster so they made movie sonic into hyperactive Hollywood ADHD brat who thinks constant pop culture references is a personality. They also think that pop culture spewing faux-adhd brats is what the teenyboppers of today like.

Everything about the movie Sonic and the movies in general scream market research.

I bet movie Sonic will be shown on screen stealing donut daddy's credit card to purchase fortnite skins.

Honestly, the idea of producer mandated market research driven decisions is giving these movies too much credit. Based on the interviews we have, the writers of these movies have unprecedented freedom to write basically whatever they want, and the only restrictions appear to be budgetary in nature. Like they originally wanted the asinine russian dancing scene in Sonic 2 to be set in an alien bar with a bunch of crazy alien NPCs, but they changed it to the human russian tavern location because that's cheaper.
