I need more band Nerds AU. I have seen none, but I'm very sure I'm not the first to think of it.

So, here's what I'm thinking, tell me what I need to change. They all sing, they just switch out depending on what's being sang. That's first and foremost.

If its just the three main nerds, Richie’s on bass, Pete’s on guitar or keyboard, and Ruth's on drums. However! If it's all five (the literal losers, if you will), we have PJ on bass, Reese on keyboard, Ruth on drums(or reverse Ruth and Reese, haven't decided), and I can't decide if Richie and Pete would both be guitar or if one of them would play a nerdy ass instrument like the accordion, a la Weird Al.

Anyway, I need band names as well as opinions on the above. Help please.

Richie and Ruth are both bisexual.

They dated for like a day in junior year and went. no thanks actually.

Peter is Trans + Heterosexual because I Said So

Steph is Pansexual and Genderfluid!! She has dated so many girls but like. no guys whatsoever. She's not used to the net 0 Rizz off Peter Spankoffski

Max is gay!! IK it doesn't line up with him canonically but. I Do Not Care he can be repressed okay? We (do not) stan internalised homophobia

Grace is Aromantic + Heterosexual. She'll figure it out eventually. hopefully.

Richie is. A Furry. He's in denial currently. His fursona is a blue opossum :)

His bass guitar has wood base and gold + green details

the back of it is absolutely COVERED in stickers

while the front has all their signatures (and Nerds4Life, but it's clear there's attempts to rub it away- it's still slightly visible) in pen.

Ruth keyboard is cleaner- but she's painted the white keys blue and the black (sharp) keys are painted silver. The paint is chipping off. She has a keytar that's covered in stickers though (Richie's doing)

Peter's mic is wrapped in yellow and orange tape. It only works perfectly if Peter sets it up and uses it.

Steph's drum kit is Pink and black! Her Dad bought her a mini pink drum set when she was little. one of the last nice things he did for her. She refuses to get a kit a different colour.

Max (While looking for de-stress tasks with his therapist) makes them all friendship bracelets. He runs out of all other colours except Purple and Yellow- his bracelet was made with the leftovers.

Grace's flute case is completely black and white.

Hannah won't come anywhere near Richie's garage when she comes over- especially if the rest of the band it there.

I need a name for the band!! Any suggestions?

part 2 of the NPMD Monster High AU! seriously thank you guys for all the love on part 1, it means a lot that you like my silly hyperfixation crossover :]

a little lore note: in this AU, monsters can use magic to blend in with humans during the day, sort of like in the g3 cartoon. Hatchetfield is kind of split into the normie side and smaller monster side. the monster part of town is magically warded to make humans want to leave quickly, and monsters don’t tend to cross over into the human areas (with the exception of adults with normie jobs, like Mayor Lauter and most of the adult HF cast). Hatchetfield High is a “exclusive private school” in the monster part of town, and the normie teens, like Grace and Max, go to Sycamore.

why are Grace and Max humans if this is a monster AU, you ask? don’t worry, i have plans for them :)

Steph:

she’s a vampire because… well because she’s rich. you’ve heard of old money? these Lauters are ancient money

i had a hard time with her outfit because my main references were Draculaura and Elissabat, who are both very dressy, but i wanted to stay true to Steph’s casual grungy style… and then i remembered The Lost Boys were THEE original grunge vampires, so i mashed David and Paul’s jackets together and gave her a Santa Carla tee as a shout-out

the chains and plaid pattern tie back to Pete’s design, like the plaid of her flannel and his bow tie in the show <3

her father isn’t technically actually a king, but runs Hatchetfield’s monster community like he is one. a close encounter with a band of monster hunters the better part of a century ago forced the monsters into hiding under his command, and Steph’s mother ended up staked. Solomon hasn’t been the same since…

Max:

his design is simpler than the others, but that’s for a reason :) the mansters usually have more boring outfits than the ghouls, so it’s not that out of place for Monster High, right? i plan to make a few more ‘doll lines’ for this au- i’m thinking Dawn of the Dance next ;)

his jacket is based on the G1 varsity jackets that Heath Burns and Slo Mo had in their first waves, but with Max’s iconic blue. i got rid of the Hatchetfield ‘H’ since he goes to Sycamore with the other normies in this AU. go Timberwolves, i guess?

his striped shirt is based on Freddy Krueger’s iconic sweater, because Max in the musical seems to take a lot of cues from Freddy; coming back from the dead to get revenge on his killers, vulgar one-liners, gruesome kills, and even a parody of the Freddy rhyme painted on the set background. one, two, Jäger’s coming for you…

side note but i had a really hard time getting Will’s likeness in this pseudo-MH style. i think he ended up a bit too Bruce Campbell-y. maybe it’s the chin.

Grace:

sorry, Grace, i’m changing your name a bit. if you need a refresher on the G1 MH lore; Van Hellscream is the Monster High expy of Van Helsing. his niece Lilith appears in the Ghouls Rule movie, but i’m stretching out the timeline a bit so let’s say Lilith is Grace’s aunt or something. Chasity is her maiden name, which the family goes by because “Hellscream doesn’t sound very Christian”

these days, the Van Hellscream’s monster-hunting legacy is more of a family legend than history, and her parents don’t even believe that monsters exist… but Grace knows that something unholy is going on at that “private school”. she may not have Great-Uncle Abraham’s arsenal, but she has the power of God and years of repressed rage on her side

design wise she changed the least from her canon outfit. she’s covered in monster-killing weapons- crosses, stakes, silver bullets, and the flowers on her blouse and jeans are alliums, aka garlic flowers- which, fun fact, were originally thought to be what repelled vampires, rather than garlic bulbs!

her blouse is based on Nancy’s nightdress in Nightmare on Elm Street to match with Max’s Freddy stripes

My work in progress sketch for the lords in black as humans for a fic I'm writing. So far I have Wiggly, Tinky, and Nibbly. I think Nibbly looks the best so far lol

The story is based off of an idea a friend in the @lady-loveluck 18+ discord server came up with (join the server if you haven't already)

Basically Webby gets pissed at the lords for being assholes and sends them to earth with Wiley to be humans and go to school as seniors with the NPMD cast. Each of the Lord's join clubs and make friends and Wilbur struggles to find a way back.

Tinky is holding a Rubix cube, he doesn't have his Bastard Box in this AU.

(Pokey joins drama, Blinky joins photography, Wiggly joins chess and becomes the Student Council prezzy-wez, Tinky joins band [trumpet, iykyk] and Nibbly joins culinary)

• Basicaly, Lila, Jaune, John, Frank and Pumps dad (who I will name Sully) make a band and run away from town because, uhh...

• They accidentaly kill Carmen after a prank gone wrong and have to run far away NOW.

• They are all like 17-18

• Lila plays the bass, Jaune the electric guitar, John is the singer, Frank plays the drums (and drives the gang band) and Sully is the manager.

• The cult doesnt exist, only rival bands. Skidad is the leader of one of them, but hes still into some occult paranormal shit (Gideon Gleeful style)

• Aaron joins the gang later in the story.

• Young versions of other characters are also there.

• Oh, Carmen ghost haunts the gang every once in a while, forgot to mention that.

CHAT I NEED MORE IDEAS

i’ve been coming up with different npmd ghost aus that were loosely based on julie and the phantoms (like very loosely) and then today i got struck with random inspiration for an au that more closely follows jatp and my brain would not shut up. now i have a bunch developed, so read if you’re interested. as a warning, it gets long and i ramble a bunch. i really just needed to get it out before my head exploded

this might not make sense if you haven’t seen the show, sorry. it follows the general plot of the show, but there are of course changes to fit with the npmd characters more and since the show was cancelled, there was never an ending so i’ll have to figure that out. as a stand in right now, this au is called “steph and the phantoms”

pete, richie, and ruth are sunset curve (their band name pending) pete is guitar, richie is drums, and ruth is vocals and keyboard. they’re teens in ‘95 and have finally gotten the courage and the gig to perform at the starlight. unfortunately, unknown to them, someone is trying to perform a spell and with the power of the black altar, it gets out of control. during the trios rehearsal the lights or something fall on them and they die.

cuts to 2020 where steph (she’s taking the julie role) is still the popular kid, but she’s still kinda a loner, not really that close to anyone. she’s been teaching herself how to play the bass in an effort to connect with her dead mom who she hardly knew. (her mom has more to do with this bc she was there at the starlight during the spell and that results in steph getting a touch of the gift when she’s born 7 years later)

steph finds some of her mom’s stuff that solomon kinda hid away and discovers one of the few cds the trio made. she plays it and the trio pops out and all four of them freak out. they were stuck in the black for 25 years but it felt like an hour for them.

the four of them figure out that they’re ghosts and only steph can see and hear them. and then they decide to become a band when they learn they can make their instruments appear and steph wants them to have the chance to really play since they couldn’t before they died.

with steph’s connections as the mayors daughter she gets them access to a small stage (or they are at the school auditorium or something) and they perform. (follows the show where the trio appears when they perform and disappears when the song ends.) but they are caught by someone at the tail end of a song and they see the ghosts disappear. steph gives the excuse that it’s a hologram, at the nerds’ suggestion. which kickstarts their band being able to perform in front of ppl.

they get gigs around town (hatchetfield is bigger than what it usually is, kinda more city like.) pete and steph are going to be like luke and julie. so lautski!

they learn more about the ghost stuff from the ghosts, max and grace. they take on willie’s role. caleb is most likely going to be wilbur cross and his goal is to do something evil with souls (still figuring it out.) a ghost is the continuation of someone’s soul (for this au) and cross needs a lot of soul power which makes the nerdy trio so enticing bc they can be seen by alive ppl which is not a normal ghost thing. grace and max are his main lapdogs that control hatchetfield’s ghost population. the two of them are stronger ghosts than normal bc they each died by a black altar sometime during the 2000’s. they feed cross intel for any leads on strong ghosts around town.

i plan to have halogear and platonic michie (aroace richie my beloved) where the relationship starts with max and grace showing interest bc they can be seen by a person and died by a black altar. they eventually grow very close in spite of this. the two are invited to a gig the band has and they realize how strong the nerdy trio is which makes them a big target for cross.

the two end up really liking the nerdy trio and steph (due to her touch of the gift and after max and grace spend a bunch of time with the nerds) is able to see them too.

the au fluctuates between the three pairs of relationships and all of them growing as friends while the soul stuff starts in the background and grows more important. cross eventually coerces the nerdy trio to make a deal so he can have their power. where they have a tattoo thing on them and if they disobey cross, they get jolted and after a bunch of jolts, they cease to exist.

his big evil plan is still something i’m working on, but definitely has ties to the libs and most likely pokey.

there’s more nuance to a bunch of stuff and this is already too long to go into a lot of the specifics. (but i will if ppl are interested in more!)

i’m not going to have flynn, carrie, bobby stealing songs, ray and carlos bc it doesn’t really fit. i don’t want an exact replica of the show and putting npmd characters in the concept should already change it a lot. i might borrow some plot lines, but it most likely is going to be different from the show.

i do want to do the unsaid emily subplot with pete, but it’s not his mom, it’s his brother. since pete needs to be a teen in ‘95, that means he is the older brother in this au. in pursuit of his dreams to be in a band he cut ties with his family and unfortunately ted. (little subplot where ted is such a sleazeball bc pete left and never came back to be a better influence)

that’s what i have for now, all of this came to me today and my mind is still buzzing. if you made it here thx!! im already obsessed with this concept and so down to bounce ideas around if anyone else is down too. if ppl want more i can definitely expand and i will probably write this one in the relatively near future, maybe! i really hope this kinda made sense.

NPMD Band AU - Michie stuffs

Yes, hello, I ship Michie and it's in this AU- but don't worry! Max is redeemed in this, and I will try to keep any Richie x Max stuff off to the side so that people who don't want to see it, don't have to.

So, on warm days, while Richie is waiting for the others to turn up, he'll sit with Paul's garage door open, his head in the shade while he plays. If you've seen the post about Band-Richie specific HCs (which I haven't posted yet. whoops.) you'll know that Richie smokes.

This particular day, Paul is at work, and Richie sits smoking while he plays- He's in one of his loose T-shirts that has Alphonse from FMA:B on it.

Max is stalking around town for whatever reason when he sees this guy, playing bass in his garage, head in the shade, smoking. Max has this holy shit MEN!??! Moment and rushes away- thinking about mystery hot guy for the rest of the summer before Senior year begins.

I think you see where this is going.

Everyone heads back to school in Senior year, and Max spends most of the first few days looking for mystery hot guy, hoping that he's a new student at Hatchetfield High.

On the last day of the week, there's a huge heatwave, and Richie strips down to just his t-shirt and shorts. He brings his bass into school- Peter is using the school's electric guitar to learn and Richie wants to play while Peter learns.

Max spots Richie, recognises the shirt and then goes. Wait. Is Shitlips...holding a guitar case. what the fuck. no. That can't be right. Mystery hot guy is NOT Richard fucking Lipschitz.

Anyway Max watches Richie play the bass through a window in the music dep. of the school, and has his Gay Awakening 2: Electric Boogaloo.

Yada yada Max goes all gooey on Richie like he does with Grace in the musical. Richie turns Max down at first but at that point Max has decided he really, actually wants to befriend the nerds, and asks to just be friends. He then becomes the bands Number one (1) fan when he finds out about it. Eventually he and Richie get together but. Not during Highschool.

Woah wow. Jay writes ideas for the HTTYD au for NPMD because he's enough of a nerd that they'd get killed in that musical.

Right. Gonna go over each of our main cast a bunch. It's gonna be a lot probably. But it's gonna be fun. Because of that. Below the cut.

Peter

As I said in my original post, I think Pete would be out stand in Hiccup. I don't think the Spankoffskis are quite chief status. But I also don't think they're the lowest class. Middle class Peter. Thanks to research, this actually is present in the types of clothes that each character would wear so I'm also gonna talk about that.

Being middle class, I think Pete has access to furs and new fabrics. Maybe some leather from their ancestors has been passed down from when their clan was a higher class. If so, I think it would be found as belts or bands around their wrists. He's not in tattered clothing, but I also think he's crafty. He'd likely prefer to repair his clothes himself instead of getting new ones.

Now onto the dragons.

As I said. Pete is our Hiccup. I think he tries to kill a dragon - to impress Steph - but only manages to wound it. He's unable to kill it and nurses it back to health.

I want to avoid having them fly night furies. So I think Pete's dragon would be a Grapple Grounder. Because I think it's very Tinky. And that's what I'm going with for their dragons. Each of our main sixes dragons are the LIB I associate with them most. :) (Also I'm not going in depth with regards to the dragons. I'm using the wiki for it.)

Pete has a general dislike to killing dragons, but he understands why they do it. I think when he kickstarts the island into liking dragons, Ted doesn't go against him as much as Stoic does to Hiccup. But I think Ted does try to steer his brother into a better approach to helping them understand. This only comes after finding the Grapple Grounder wrapped around the wood pillars of their house.

Steph

Steph is the Astrid stand in but she's the daughter of the Chief (Solomon). She's got all new cloths and furs and leathers to show for it, too.

I think she's entirely capable of killing a dragon and has done it before. She just doesn't want to do it a lot because. Of course she doesn't. Whether it's out of a genuine dislike for killing dragons or her wanting to go against her dad is yet to be seen (it's a bit of both).

Before Pete finds the dragon, I think she still thinks he's cute. But in more of a "you're gonna die out here, let me protect you" way.

When Pete takes her on the first flight, I think she fully starts to fall for him then.

I think her dragon would be a sand wraith because it has a big mouth. And her dragon is nibbly.

I don't think Solomon ever opens up to the idea of dragon riding. Not even when everyone else starts to. I think it gets him killed and because of this, Steph takes over rule of the island. And she does it well, I think, once she learns to.

Ruth

Oh Ruth. I think Ruth is lower class - in an orphanage with Richie, honestly. Both of their parents were killed by dragons. Thanks to this, they wear mainly cloth clothing and have plenty of repairs they've done to them, themselves.

Ruth wants to kill a dragon but she underestimates herself because everyone else does. She's the smallest adult on the island and is incapable of killing even a smaller dragon like a Terrible Terror.

Her dragon is a Slithersong. Because Pokey. And the slither-song is black and blue and that's too perfect to pass up.

I think she's less inclined to trust the dragons when Pete tries to get everyone behind him. But when she sees that Richie trusts them - and probably even Steph trusts them entirely first - Ruth comes around to it.

Richie

Already did this opening part on Ruth's part so. No need to go over it again.

I think Richie loves to read about the dragons, he wants to learn all about them and learn how they tick - he also thinks they're just very cool. But I think he understands and is - at first - encouraging of the killing. He's probably killed a few himself.

I think he's incredibly open to the concept of not killing the dragons, despite this. I think he's willing to change his mind because he knows so much about them outside of hunting them. He's one of the first to trust Peter when he says about training them.

His dragon is a Changewing (wiggly) because they can come in green and honestly. Read the wiki for this one. If you're gonna do it for any of them. This is the one where you'll be like "oh this is wiggly as a dragon".

Grace

Grace, like Pete, is middle class. She's got cloth and fur and family leather, but not as much as a chief or other higher class families would have. But she does have more than Peter.

I think she's a firm believer in killing the dragons thanks to her parents filling her with the same fear and hatred for the creatures that they were.

She's not very open to riding one, until she does, and then she almost definitely goes the complete opposite extreme. As I said in my original post, I think she'd be very likely to be an ally in the first movie, and an antagonist in the sequel. I don't know what her motivation would be. Just know that I think she would be.

Her dragon would be the Hobblegrunt. (Blinky). It's sensitive to emotions and changes colors due to them, so I think having that with a villain Grace would be an interesting concept.

Her parents don't ever really change their minds on dragon riding, though. Even if their daughter does ride. Mark was always fine with dragons.

Max

Max is one of the high class families who are connected with the chief through either old business or blood. They have plentiful fabrics and leathers and furs, and they're all in the best quality.

Max is probably one of the strongest young killers of dragons in the establishing universe, pressured to be that way from his family who are the cliche viking strongmen who want nothing more than to kill the biggest/toughest/strongest dragon and probably mount the head and take the scales and hide for personal use.

This is why I've decided to break the thing I said at the beginning. Max gets a light fury. Because Webby. And also I think he'd be so deeply cautious of trusting them that having something as ethereal as a light fury (who Webby was always going to be) would be a good reason to open his mind a little bit.

I think his dad deserves to die in his hatred for dragons and wouldn't survive the first installment. :)

Anyway that about covers the main cast of characters. I don't have much other thoughts right now considering it's taken. So long to write this post.

Quick disclaimer that it's been a few months since I've seen the movies and those are the only installments of the series that I've ever actually seen. The wiki helped me with the dragon types. I plan on watching my way through the show eventually.
