#obscure ships

As I make my way deeper into the Gravity Falls fandom, it has come to my attention that many ship Stan with Eda the Owl Lady from the Owl House. And all things considered? The parallels are there and they have so much in common! Not to mention the canonical hints that make it kinda sorta possible! I am all for it!

BUT!

Has anyone considered their nerdy siblings???

Ford, a human Unusuologist fascinated by the supernatural, strange, and unusual, and Lilith, a witch from the Boiling Isles who's best friend is an owl demon?

Ford, confirmed monsterfucker (Billford, and he dated a siren according to Lost Legends), and Lilith, a cursed witch who can turn into a raven beast and a harpy?

Not to mention the PARALLELS!

Not just between Ford and Lilith, but also between Stan and Lilith and Ford and Eda. I mean tell me Lilith accidentally placing a permanent curse on Eda isn't just like Stan breaking Ford's project? Or sending Ford through the portal? And then Lilith spent most of her adult life trying to find a way to fix her mistake and break Eda's curse, just like Stan spent a decade trying to become successful so he could come home, then spent another thirty years trying to get his brother back. And only being able to reconcile with their siblings after a tremendous display of love through sacrifice (Stan having his memory erased to defeat Bill and save his family and Lilith taking half of Eda's curse)? Then there's Lilith's lifelong insecurities about being inferior to Eda, and Stan spending most of his life with a horrible self image because of how smart his brother is. All because Ford and Eda were respectively given more attention and praise by their respective parents and authority figures growing up while Stan and Lilith were brushed aside or dismissed (albeit for opposite reasons - Stan was "the screw up" and Lilith was extremely independent and capable from a young age.)

And yet, that isn't to say that Lilith and Ford don't have a lot in common as well. They're both the more studious and hard working of their respective sibling pairs, and they're both a little self-centered and have difficulties with empathy and their relationships with others (but not maliciously or because they're bad people, they're both doing their best, care about others in their own ways, and improve on those difficulties as each of their characters develop further.) They both had pure intentions and were deceived by an older and more conniving being who's real goal was the destruction of their respective worlds, but they both eventually realized this and turned to fight against him. They both each have a streak of arrogance, but are capable of admitting to the error of their ways and of making efforts to make amends - but not before said errors cause problems. And yet in spite of how capable they are, they're both ostracized in their own ways, with an eagerness to please and a deep desire for validation. And of course, they're both daring, brave, hard working individuals who also love to have fun.

But most of all, they're both a couple of overeager nerds who are curious and passionate about the world and love their families more than anything.

I'll ship it. Anyone else?

Something I though I would like to share. Trying to write my first fanfic after several years, which so far has 3 chapters (I update accordinly). Niche pairing Masaya x Quiche. Au set 7 years after the manga-canon which has 2 major differences: aliens were not Mews' original enemies and Masaya had another alter ago. (Blue Knight making an appreance later). Mainly following og anime's plot with manga and New mixed in to a certain point with original ideas/ideas from other series's mixed in because why not?

I think everybody in Fandom should ship an obscure, probably never going to happen ship at least once in their life. I shipped canon ships for a long time, and while there is nothing wrong with that, you get in your head that every ship you ship is going to be canon, and when you get to one that isn't you have a tenedency to get more down and more defensive about it.

Instead, everybody should have one obscure ship. Either a ship of two characters that have never met, a queer ship in a property where that's basically never going to happen in, or whatever other thing you want. You'll have so much more freedom with headcanons, writing, drawing, and every other aspect of Fandom. You can do whatever you want, and the best part is you don't have to care at all about what the source says. It's yours.

Do you see it? Your art/writing is about a ship/media that I've never seen, and of which I know absolutely nothing and yet I am compelled and moved by the unique spin you put on it. You did such a fine work that I now want to know the source material. Perhaps you even did such a fine work that the source material doesn't hold a candle to the stuff you make.

Columbo and the Knight (1984)

put me in the universe where Columbo ran through the 1980s and had a crossover episode with Knight Rider. I think they deserved it, and I am not just saying that because they're my two favorite Old Shows. @telebeast wrote a little fanfic blurb about it and I HAD to visualize it into a comic (which is also the longest comic I have finished thus far at five pages...), so writing credit goes to them.
