My idea for Cybele is that she is a coward who can't face any criticism and uses her power to hide from it. If Ghetsis is N's opposite in not wanting to change his ideals, Cybele is the opposite of N because she can't handle the truth (does that make any sense?)

She is technically a pokemon trainer, but doesn't actually fight most of the time, opting to command grunts (mostly Gwendolyn) to fight for her

random add on, Ghetsis marrying Cybele is an anomaly, not even Cybele know why the fuck he'd marry her (pity?? manipulation??) She's just going along with the ride.

Ghetsis might... have a genuine attraction to her, it's just that he has a big ass wall that protects him from being vulnerable, there was always a wall between them that prevents Cybele from truly seeing the 'ugly' parts of Ghetsis. She knows it exists (she's met her in laws) but never fully connected the pieces.

Don't interpret this as Ghetsis being inattentive, as a puppet master, he's always watching over everyone in his life and he can't let himself be seen with a flaw of course. He treats her well, takes her on dates, and gives her gifts and stuff, but Cybele never fully understood Ghetsis the way Ghetsis understood Cybele.

He also never really mentions that he's married, most team plasma grunts see Cybele as just some random lady that does finance or whatever. Not even his bestie-that-he-definitely-wont-betray Colress knew that he was married.

I think during bw2, Ghetsis becomes a little bit looser with his 'evil genius with no flaws' persona around Cybele, sometimes he sleeps in his office, and wakes up to a blanket over him and a note telling him that if he was tired, he should've gone to bed with her.

After bw2, the two are just... tired, and now just live in a cabin in the woods. Old retired couple, Ghetsis is now on his lowest end, but in a way, he somehow manages to bond with Cybele further now that his pedestal is broken.

random ass info dump about Gwen and Cy cause I need people to be as obsessed with them as I am (cw: for mentions of abuse)

Gwendolyn ran away from Circhester with her gallade, Wyatt to go to culinary school in Unova, but got into a lot of debt because she was an teenager who came from an abusive household with practically no money.

She met Cybele when the latter was at a team plasma rally, Cybele was curious about Gwendolyn because she was practically the only one interested in the speech.

Gwendolyn had always felt guilty about having Wyatt around because he's been protecting her from her parents ever since he was a ralts, and she hated seeing him hurt, and now she had no money to provide for him. Learning about this, Cybele convinced Gwendolyn that she could provide Gwendolyn the money she needed if she released Wyatt, claiming that he had been hurting ever since Gwen took him in.

Gwendolyn soon released her gallade, under the guise of playing hide-and-seek. But now she was actually living a normal life, though, financially dependent on a single person that is not her. Gwendolyn later joins team plasma to appease Cybele, and later becomes her assistant.

Gwendolyn's admiration for Cybele mostly came from the fact that she inadvertently (for better, or for worse) made Gwendolyn believe her life actually had meaning, and she became obsessed with pleasing her. It doesn't help the fact that Gwendolyn was abused and that made her latch onto anything that gave her affection.

Cybele straight up, just doesn't care about Gwendolyn, she was just another stepping stone to get what she wants. To Cybele, Gwen's just a naive girl who just became attached to her due to circumstance, and can be easily thrown out as soon as she becomes useless.

Cybele doesn't actually play that big of a role in bw mostly cuz she was off doing her own thing but she sometimes larps with her husband.

A bit of a lore dump below:

Cybele loves Ghetsis in an "I admire him no matter his actions" way, but like to the max. She doesn't gaf if Ghetsis is a cult leader, she's his #1 dick rider and she didn't even have to be manipulated, she's just like that and Ghetsis likes having his boots licked. They're evil and married and are scheming together on how to take over Unova

when it comes to her relationship with N (and with the other Harmonia siblings), she just doesn't care for the guy at all, she's not actively abusive or manipulative towards him, but it's not as if she's stopping Ghetsis

I honestly find the trope of "poor, caring mother forced to marry her abusive husband" a bit overused (not bad, just common) so having a mom who just doesn't care about her kids is something I want to write her with

I'll explain their lore later, but to put it simply: Cybele is N's mom bc Ghetsis is N's bio dad will forever be the hill I die on, and Gwendolyn was her former pupil turned assistant

baby Cybele cuz why not. She was probably a menace growing up, and the fact that her parents are pushovers doesn't help.

Cybele was kind of a bully until high school when she messed up big time, and now she needs constant affirmations that she isn't a bad person (mostly by Gwendolyn) (she is very much a bad person)
