What's Denali's relationship like with your other ocs (that she knows?)

she’s basically adopted connor and kairoh as younger sisters! with kairoh’s size and connor’s attitude, they’re undoubtedly the brawn of the pride. denali has an image to uphold as a level-headed leader, so connor and kairoh happily get done the work that would make denali look bad.

denali’s pride is made up of her, three biological sisters, all of their kids who are still at home (azure and his cousins) kairoh, and connor. overall it’s a closely-knit sisterhood, but they also step on each other’s feet quite a bit. in-pride scuffles aren’t uncommon at all, and usually resolve through snarling, swatting, and wrestling. no serious harm done.

megantereon is a thorn in her side. they have very different ideals but are forced to cooperate in a professional setting quite a lot (local politics and land management). his family is also quite influential in that regard, and unlike denali they have been there for a long, long time. old money, as they say.

she has a very good relationship with henley’s family, the hadean dog pack. the patriarch, oko, is someone she considers both an ally and a friend. they coexist well on the same turf due to the agreement that the dogmen are allowed to hunt freely during the day, and the lion pride are allowed to hunt freely at night. as long as they don’t encroach on each other’s “work hours”, all is well! the dogmen are also nomadic, following the migration of large game, so they aren’t overlapping with the lions geographically for the whole year. this particular alliance makes them the two most influential family groups in their area. crossing the dogs runs the risk of getting the lions involved, and vice versa. it’s like a carnivorous mafia

btw kairoh gets mistaken for an american lion allll the time because 1) machairodus genus cats have long tails like panthera cats and 2) you can’t see her sabers when her mouth is closed. so if you don’t know what youre looking for in the skull/limb/lumbar anatomy you’d think she was a panthera genus cat. this upsets her very very much. not only is she a sabercat, not a panther, she’s from one of the most ancient and well-established sabercat lineages of all time god damn you

cool kairoh facts because i worked hard on her design: she is technically afab, but her most distinctive features, her handsome mane and her massive stature, are actually male-associated phenotypes for her species! her long, thin canines on the other hand are a female-associated phenotype. kairoh is an intersex lesbian and uses she/her👍
