mentors one of nightstar's kids per nightstar's request so he had an heir to take over the spot of lying-through-his-teeth-healer to keep him in good standing with the clan. spills the beans practically the second wasppaw is old enough to handle the emotional turmoil of knowing your parent is like that, but unfortunately wasppaw is into it

has to run away from nettleclan after supplexing nightstar off a cliff and decides to try and never touch clan life again, living with timberfall as a loner duo who ends up finding and getting involved with another set of ocs (ashclan) as elders

Some recent sketches of Fliss that I like.  I did these mainly as tests for some new brushes I got recently, and as is tradition with me, I used Fliss as a model to practice with them.

Also, Fliss has undergone quite a few redesigns within the last several months, (which I might show off at some point, but we’ll see) and this is the one that I’m happiest with :)

Inktober/OC-Tober day 7: worst/best memory

Thora’s worst memory is overhearing her parents talking about her and how she wasn’t living up to their expectations, especially in the ruler/reigh department, and fearing that she would never be good enough for them.  This was the start of her thinking she had to please them in any way she could, and it quickly became a toxic mindset for her.

Bretta’s worst memory was the day she had her first successful hunt, but nobody else in the tribe, aside from her parents, really gave her accomplishment much attention or thought.  She felt alone and ostracized.

Flip’s best memory is when they finally learned how to fly.

Fun fact: a daithi’ma can use their jaadoo to mutate a part of their body to turn it into something else.  For example, they can use their jaadoo to make wings to fly with.  However, only one mutation can be active at once.  The daithi’ma are the only race on the planet capable of doing this.

Inktober/OC-Tober day 5: as a child

Fun fact: toddlers and children are referred to with they/them pronouns until their coming of age birthday, where they then get to pick their own pronouns.  Bretta chose he/him pronouns at her coming of age birthday, but later on in their teenagehood they transitioned to she/her.  Bretta was also small as a cub, and got a growth spurt later on.

Also, Flip was born without a left arm, and only got a prosthetic when they got older. (and yes, I am fiddling with their hair style, please bear with me.)

OC-tober/Inktober day 1: Introduction to oc

I was originally going to do the official Inktober prompt list, but I found it difficult because I also wanted to use the prompts for character development, and I wound up getting really stressed out, so I decided to go ahead with this one instead.  Credit to pichiarts for the prompt list.

This is also a great way for me to practice doing more digital art and doing some experimenting.

Anyway!

The characters I’ve chosen to develop for this OC-tober, probably to nobody’s surprise, are the main cast from my original comic/story-in-the-making Timberfall.  On the left is Bretta, a half-breed of two of my own original races, a lao’cu and a daithi’ma.  She’s large and in charge, boasting incredible strength of the body.  She doesn’t put up with anyone’s bullshit and will call out others when they’re in the wrong.  Although she may appear outwardly confident, she has a deep-seeded anxiety/shame due to being a mixed race.  She and Thora (on the right) are childhood friends and have always been by each other’s side.

Flip, in the middle, is an anxious ball of nerves and depression.  They hate socializing, not because they don’t like others, but more because they find it draining.  Combined with the fact that they absolutely hate making eye contact and are horrid at casual conversation, they feel like they mess up every interaction they have because they don’t talk much.  It’s really tough for them to make friends.  They become hyperfocused on specific objects or subjects easilly, and will gain an unsettling amount of knowledge on said objects and will talk your ear off about it if given the chance.

And finally we have Thora, on the right.  She is the current reigh (pronounced ree; means leader) of the daithi’ma people, and she has a great desire to protect her people and make sure they’re well taken care of.  She’s a bit of a workaholic, and will obsess over her own projects which results in her neglecting her own needs.  She also has an interest in technology, and likes to tinker with it on occasion.  Though, recently in the story, she’s taken an interest in jaadoo (the lifeblood of the people, and acts as a sort of magic type thing) and is looking for volunteers to help her with her research of it, hoping to find more medical uses for it.

Inktober/OC-Tober day 13: hurt/injured

Couldn’t really think of anything to draw for today, so have this drawing of Flip suffering from a nasty bloody nose, inspired by what I went through yesterday.  I don’t really get bloody noses, so it was a big shock once I realized what was happening.

Also, I’m only going to be drawing the prompts that I want to draw for from now on.

I’ve already drawn their houses a while back, so I didn’t feel like redrawing them digitally.  Maybe I’ll clean these up sometime.

Inktober/OC-Tober day 6: their aspirations or dreams

Wound up not doing this yesterday cuz I was stressing out over what I was going to draw, because I couldn’t think of a way to put their aspirations/dreams into a 2d image, and thought I had to do an image for each prompt.  So I’m just going to write it out instead, and since I don’t want this to be image-less, here’s a drawing of the three being happy together.

Thora wants to be a good leader to her people, and wants to have many friends she can rely on and be happy with.

Flip wants peace of mind, and wants to learn how to better deal with their mental illnesses and social anxiety, as they want to be more assertive and make connections with others.

Bretta wants to love others, be loved, and even come to one day love herself.

Inktober/OC-tober day 4: what’s in their bag(s)

Another late drawing, but whatever.

Since I’m doing three characters, we have three bags to look inside.  The top one belongs to Thora, and she carries around vials (contents unknown), a pocket knife, gloves, candy, cotton swabs, and a notebook and pencil to write down notes and such in.

The middle bag is Flip’s, and their items are more general/generic.  They have a first aid case which has bandages, needles, thread, and buttons.  They also carry scissors, a brush, small gemstones, tweezers, and a small watch.

The last bag on the bottom belongs to Bretta, and she carries a hunting knife, medicine, dried meat slices, various bones and teeth from animals, and rope.
