Post ME2: Arrival + NPCs

After the events of the Arrival DLC when the truth of the Reapers comes to light, the Council strips Shepard of her status and rank and puts her under essentially house arrest, not letting her leave Earth space at all. This is due in part to the destruction of Batarian colonies, but that’s a cover for the fact that they refuse to listen to her about the coming of the Reapers.

During this six month period (until the events of ME3), she is confined to her living quarters on her home military base. People still seek her out for some training or to have a drink or two with her, maybe get lunch or dinner. She becomes acquainted with a small squad that’s progressing quickly through their ranks and proving themselves a force to be reckoned with. This squad* includes Skylar (vanguard, their leader), Emma (soldier, weapons expert), Gary (nickname, Krogan warlord), and Bethany (Engineer, tech specialist).

They all become good friends with Samantha and she comes to rely on them throughout the events of ME3, finding them to be among her most trusted allies.

*These squad members were character my friend and I played in the multiplayer and ended up fleshing out into OCs. There’s several others, all of whom I love, but these are the ones that might be referenced post Arrival.

💖 What made you start writing? I got into reading at the tender age of the OG Thrawn trilogy in Star Wars being published. Since the Expanded Universe was basically paid fanfic (Thanks LucasFilm), it sparked ideas about a lot of self-insert stories that I’d act out rather than write out because grade school writing classes are terribly boring. But I didn’t really start writing until Gundam SEED had aired in Japan something like 20 years ago.

Ugh ... self-complimentary. Okay, something that I think I do well and like about my writing ... I like my hand-to-hand action scenes; I try to break it down enough for people unfamiliar with fighting to get an idea of what’s going on (sometimes it’s still too complicated, but that’s a WIP skill)

I’ll be posting this for Ashley Appreciation Week if I can figure out crossposting between Tumblr and AO3 or vice-versa.

A ringing echoed in Ashley’s ears, blurring her vision and rocking her senses. She could feel something on her waist, her wrist, the side of her chest plate. The vision cleared enough to see the fireplug Coats hauling her away from the Reaper standing guard over the transport beam.

“Coats,” she groaned weakly.

“We’re pulling back Williams,” he gruffed, pulling her to the side as debris hurled over them.

“Shepard’s still out there,” she protested, feeling some strength return to her legs.

🎨  How do you feel about fan art of your stories?

I love it! I just don’t always have a clear idea of my OCs rofl. Body type, height, outfits, etc., sure, but facial features from letters to art? Oof.

💞  Who's your comfort character?

Right now, in Mass Effect, probably Miranda Lawson. In Escape Velocity stuff, Skylar. Mostly for the whole “coming into your own” phase that characters seem to have when I write.

Well she’s already part moth soooo… probably a German Shepard or even a Labrador ;D (any breed of dog, really!)

Okay so here are two of my OCs from my short story I am ‘working’ on.

Officer Jace Cheng. Asian, short black hair, nice jawline, brown eyes, has scruff and quite fit. He is tri-lingual. He speaks Mandarin, Japanese and Korean. He’s 28 and lives in a nice apartment with a Husky named Yoshi.

Officer Wyatt Pierce. Caucasian/Latino. Shoulder length dirty blonde hair, blue eyes, sharp jawline, clean shaven, an has an average built. Wyatt is bi-lingual; he speaks Spanish and knows ASL. He is 25 and has his own little suburban home with two cats (Phoebe and Simba) and a German Shepard named Skylar.
