Over the past decade, workplaces and the way people work in these workplaces have changed significantly. The closed technology ecosystem of phones, emails, chat, and shared sites is a thing of the past, and has been replaced by a growing number of open platforms that foster easier communication and collaboration within organizations through office chat software.
That being said, there’s still a time and a place for emails. They're still a mainstay for formal communication with clients or suppliers that requires a clear paper trail and they can be useful for a tactical delay as they don’t have to be answered right away. For the rest, office instant messaging software, company social media and video – all housed within a single digital workplace – are becoming preferable.

not really sure what's going on with the State staff today
Just overheard the Veterans' Representative mutter, "don't know why they don't let me bring my gun in here" and shortly after, the State Office Supervisor said that she'd rather eat the inside of a vacuum bag (I did not hear what thing prompted this comment).
