I know there's a longer post somewhere that collects a lot more of Shiva hinting signal should be Robin which I think is interesting, iirc Robin Duke chose, where Signal was given by Bruce.

And god yessss cass's dyslexia is just... Idk. I remember I saw one person tell me you can't be disabled and Asian and I just- like??? You can even specify what part of Asia, bitch??? She's from a GENERAL region.

I think Shiva's so funny for everything with Cass. Like yes, Babs tho imperfect is better... But every so often Shiva wins by genuinely just being out of Cassandra's life and only popping in to like... Kill her to heal her mental health, or make snide comments about how the Batfamily refuses to accommodate her.

I can't help but read this now with a touch of spite towards Babs and Bruce, especially with the audiobook now. Yes she's fully within her act of the untouchable Shiva... But it's so interesting to me that Shiva genuinely seems to care about meeting Cass where she stands, not forcing her to do something her body can't.

But yeah .. I'm tired of The racism, especially having grown up in Thailand a lot of Cass and Shiva stuff is just ... Extra stupid. Like yes I'm Canadian but god it's not that hard people.

Re:Babs, I think you can genuinely just take a random woman and you can figure out a dynamic for them. I saw one person write a GREAT Lois Lane x Babs Fic FFS.

Dinah I'll admit is my favorite for Babs, but I love DinahOllie too... Idk... Maybe... Move Babs... To Star... Hmm? I'm not saying OllieBabs but it wouldn't offend me if there was some poly stuff going on. (Plus idk I'm sure you know my opinion on batman and the girls)

The Shiva thing came from a fic I was writing centered on Shiva connecting with Barbara to thank her for protecting Cassandra. It was supposed to turn into Shiva wingmaning DinahBabs, but then I started getting a few comments shipping them... Then more. And it quickly shifted. They ended up beating WonderMagic in the Yuri polls somehow lol.

Facts: there's decent ground to say Shiva's favorite Robin is Duke

Unlike Cassandra's other three parents, Shiva's shown to actually give a fuck about accommodating Cassandra's disabilities instead of trying to "fix" her.

Opinions:

Babs can be given genuinely any woman in the DCU as a ship and it's a great ship. I genuinely managed to sell people on ShivaBabs

Robins (2021) showed us that according to Bruce's best forecasting, Stephanie would have led the Titans if Bruce never existed.

I've always believed that Shiva’s most tolerable(?) Robin is Tim. Not a favorite, exactly—she clearly has distain for him. She’s more dismissive than anything and honestly that’s super nice of her given how entitled Tim can act. That said, I could totally see her fav being Duke—if there's a specific interaction or comic you’re thinking of, I’d love to hear about it!

The audiobook Shiva records for Cassandra in Batgirl? It’s such a rare moment of consideration from Shiva and I just— Shiva’s treatment of Cass’s dyslexia is one of the few things she does better than Babs.

Babs is by no means a flawless parental figure for Cass—but she sure as hell is better than the other options.

Also; it's criminal how often Cass’s dyslexia gets erased or ignored in fanon in favor for the “fully mute” propaganda. The full-mute-background-flawless-ninja idea flattens her character, removes her agency, and can veer into ableism as well as racial stereotyping.

Babs could absolutely be with any woman, no question. The DinahBabs arguments are sooo compelling. I love Dinah and Ollie so much, and I, personally, don’t really see DinahBabs prevalent in most canon, but even then I can’t say I blame you if you ship it. (I am, however, wondering how you managed to argue for ShivaBabs?)

Makes me sad when DC forces her to be with Dick so that they can sell the Batfam as a secluded brand. Babs could do so much better.

Also, yes! I read Robins (2021) a while back and it really solidified for me how much better Steph does when Bruce isn’t there to interfere. Like, her growth, independence, and confidence just soar when she’s outside his influence. (The art was also stunning??)

Fuck dude I'm like, aware of three ships for this character. BOPolycule, Ollie (one of my all time favorite characters and men ever, literally the greatest man in every room) and Babs (they should literally marry) and I love both so much my main Babs ship is often OllieDinahBabs thruple. I genuinely think she's just kinda... Got two good main ships? The CLOSEST would be pure monogamous Helena/Dinah but like... I like that too? It's just not my second or third choice.
