Warabi:no...I wish.. I don't know throughout the whole trip he was on edge not like being mean but more kind of nervous..... He talked a little bit about war.... killing people, losing people. You know, trauma stuff.......... I think he's still shook up by it
Mahi: oh........he had a panic attack in the bathroom... and fainted.. Candie found him face down next to the toilet his medical thing was beeping
Warabi: shit is he ok?
Mahi: yeah.... yeah he's fine.... Physically. He looked like shit tho.. .. smelled like old cigarettes...ugh....... things will work out..
Mahi was found floating in a river by @fish-at-fish-fish-resort

aaaaah okay SO I recently started drawing digitally again after a really bad bout of having absolutely no spoons for it, and of course this happened right after the WondLa hyperfixation hit again, so of course I had to actually start drawing the AU that's been rotating in my head since last July (when the first season of the show aired). The gist of it is that Sanctuary 573 actually naturally failed on its own, right after Eva was decanted, while at the same time Rovender's family didn't die, therefore he didn't leave and stayed in Faunas. I'm borrowing bits and pieces of the worldbuilding from the show to flesh this AU out, so Rovender is a pathfinder and his partner and (first) daughter are Gisana and Hanno (tbh I'm really glad the show gave us canon names because I was FLOUNDERING in that department lmao).
For designs, I went with mostly Vibes for Eva and Hanno, combining a few motifs from Cærulean outfits from the books. Gisana's design is primarily my own, with her outfit colors coming from the show but with actual outfit design being inspired by the books. Her and Hanno have crests because Soth does and I thought that'd be fun to incorporate. Rovender's design is an attempted combination of his late-book 2/book 3 design, with the added caveat that he hasn't been despondently wandering around for who knows however many decades.
Anyway, somehow Rovender, while on assignment, finds Sanctuary 573 and ends up finding Eva and Muthr, who is shutting down. In a last act of desperation, Muthr manages to use the Sanctuary's computer to decipher the Cærulean language (just... work with me here) and decides to give Eva to this random alien that literally just wandered into the Sanctuary one day. Luckily for her, that was the best call she could've made, and 8-month-old Eva then goes off to Faunas with Rovender.
(Continued under the cut)
please do not repost my art
Muthr, before letting Eva go, also downloaded all the programs Eva would ever need (language modules and such) onto the Omnipod, just in case, which she then leaves with Eva. She, and the Sanctuary, shut down after that, leaving this poor guy with a baby from a species he's never heard about before.
Rovender, not knowing what to do initially, thinks he'll bring Eva to Faunas and then figure out where she'll be sent from there. What of course ends up happening is that Eva imprints on him, and Rovender bonds with her, and, well fuck, he just can't let her be adopted by anyone else now, can he? Luckily, he manages to convince Gisana. Hanno is a bit skeptical, but she, too, comes around eventually and she's kinda always wanted a sibling? So. Score.
Eva grows up very loved, with the sort of family she always dreamed of, in a lovely little community. In addition to Rovender being a pathfinder, Gisana is a beamguide maker and Hanno is a tailor, which means that Eva can usually get human-sized clothes rather easily. (My headcanon is that Faunas is also a huge textile creator and exporter, so textile-related jobs are pretty common.) The entire family has custom-made beamguides that Gisana designed and made-- they're locked in on each person, and show where they are relative to Faunas. Hanno uses this feature in book 3 to find where Eva and follow her. They eventually meet in the ruins of New York just as the airships and warbots attack. (That's one of the doodles here lol.) Additionally, Eva wants to be a pathfinder like her father, so Rovender takes her on as an official apprentice not long before her thirteenth birthday. What happens later on, during the period the books cover, is that Rovender and Antiquus, seeing how Eva is maturing and developing, decide to start unofficially training her to take on a council position, which she does eventually take in a few decades. Eva also shows hints of her powers early on in life, with plants and animals usually responding to her in little ways, but she doesn't really come into her powers until the events of book 1.
The books largely happen like canon, with book 1 being the most changed. I'm thinking what happens is that, as her official first journey as an apprentice pathfinder and as a birthday present, Rovender takes Eva on an Eva-directed journey back to her birthplace, which she's been wanting to do for years. Besteel, who has been a problem since Eva was little (the Kitts found out the Royal Museum was looking for a live human specimen, using Besteel to do it, and knew they had to keep Eva hidden-- it's been a huge game of keep-away for years, and Besteel certainly suspects Something), finds them out in the open near the Sanctuary and starts the pursuit. Eva and Rovender flee to Lacus, deciding to try and get to Solas via the ferry to try and clear things up-- Eva's an official resident of Faunas, after all, and part of the chief's clan. Can they please stop trying to capture Eva? Except, of course, it doesn't go to plan. They get captured, Eva meets Otto and unlocks stronger abilities, and Eva gets captured at Lacus. (The Haveports are also some of the few non-Cæruleans who know that Eva even exists.) Without Muthr, it's a little harder to escape, but Eva does manage it, being as familiar with Orbona as she is. She gets out, gets back to Rovender and Otto, and they go to the ruins, Eva now curious as to whether or not there are humans on Orbona. Events continue only slightly altered (Eva gets bad vibes from the oasis and they avoid it, for one, and Eva doesn't loose her mother, because she's back in Faunas, for two), and the arc ends with Hailey and the Bijou.
Books 2 and 3 happen largely like canon, I think, with the exception of Eva being able to introduce Eight to her Cærulean family (Eight still goes off the rails and turns into a tree, though), and Eva knowing, going into New Attica, that she's not staying, she just wants to meet humans and maybe make some friends before going back home. Cadmus, of course, takes exception to this and tries to force Eva to stay. Eva, of course, escapes, with her friends and family in tow.
Book 3's biggest change is the addition of Hanno to many events, with her intervening at the ruins and accompanying Eva to the now-destroyed New Attica. Everything's better with a sassy older sister who isn't about to go off the deep end :) Eva ends up back in Faunas at the end, instead of just her and Rovender in Lacus, like in canon.
I do have more about this AU, but, like, this here is long enough and I think the best way to communicate other stuff is through narrative format (fic :) ), so I hope I have the motivation to write those at some point lol.

Crossbow (OmniMech)
Developed during the Golden Century by Clan Steel Viper as an early second-generation OmniMech, the Crossbow is a relatively cheap OmniMech. The Crossbow was Clan Steel Viper's first attempt to crash start their OmniMech manufacturing capability, and was initiated in part by a small cadre of captured Clan Snow Raven scientist caste. Since both parties were relatively new to Omni technology, the teams developed a novel OmniPod system confined to replacing the 'Mech's arms. Since only the arms of early Crossbows can mount OmniPods, early Crossbows are jump-incapable (more recently, configurations have been created containing weapon systems in the torsos). As the Crossbow is much less flexible than most OmniMechs, and since the Crossbow lacks lighter materials of most OmniMechs, the Crossbow has largely been relegated to second-line duty, though it still appears frequently in the front lines, especially within Clan Steel Viper. However, the Crossbow is still quite effective - from its first engagement at Firebase Climax on Homer in 2870 to the present, the Crossbow's mix of arm-mounted missiles make it a superb fire-support choice.
Considered a rare design by the Jihad era, the Crossbow's remaining production facilities would end up being destroyed in 3074 during the Wars of Reaving, effectively phasing it out of use in the Clan Homeworlds. The Crossbow would find new life in the Inner Sphere during the next century, as Clan Wolf used Arcturus' factories to mass produce the design when they took the planet in 3128. During that battle a Wolf MechWarrior named Andreas managed to destroy an entire company of Lyran 'Mechs while piloting a Crossbow, earning a posthumous place in the Remembrance and ensuring that the newly won factory would produce more of the design. Sporting an upgraded configuration Crossbows saw extensive use in the Clan Wolf touman, notably with the Seventy-ninth Wolf Battle Cluster on Denebola.
When the Jade Falcons later claimed Arcturus after it was abandoned by the Wolves, they neglected the Crossbow's production lines, allowing Clan Sea Fox to buy and sell the design in large numbers. In Jade Falcon service Crossbows were used to less effect, partly because they were relegated to inferior units.
After the rebirth of the Tamar Pact, Clan Sea Fox, working in concert with the Pact's leadership, retooled Arcturus Arms' production lines to produce Clan OmniMechs. In exchange, they received the opportunity to claim three of every four Crossbows produced there.
Often described as a sleeker version of the Star League Longbow, the Crossbow is solidly protected by twelve tons of armor, though its traditionally missile-heavy weapons loadout means that it does not need any extra double heat sinks.
The weapons on the Crossbow are simple: two Artemis-guided LRM-20s that are just as effective at point-blank range as they are at long. The limited ammo supply is rarely a problem in Clan Trials, but it cannot stay on the field for an extended period of time. The majority of the configurations mount all the weapons in the arms, and the primary configuration is no exception.

hey, i haven't really seen your account before now, but your one shot with katsuki and the diabetic reader came across my feed today and i needed to tell you how much i love and appreciate it. i was diagnosed with type 1 about a year ago and i have an omnipod myself. reading an x reader that was so applicable to my life made my heart soar. i'm not familiar with your blog so i'm not sure if you're diabetic yourself or if you were just spot on in your fic, but i want you to know how appreciated you are for writing about readers with chronic illnesses (maybe i'm being dramatic about this but it really meant a lot)
Hi there <3 Thank you so much for your message — it truly means the world to me. I’m so honored that the one shot resonated with you, especially in such a personal way. I’m not diabetic myself, but I put a lot of care into researching and writing it because I wanted it to feel authentic and validating, and hearing that it meant something to you honestly makes every second worth it. You are not being dramatic at all — your words absolutely made my day. Thank you again for taking the time to share this with me, and I’m sending you all the love and strength on your journey <3💪

In the books, do the aliens have any devices for long distance communications? Like, their own version of cellphones or radios?
Actually...not really? Or at least if they did, it's not really addressed or mentioned in the books- and in fact, the closest thing they get to this is the usage of the human's omnipods in a few select cases (which I won't spoil here because it involves a few plot-crucial twists).
Which is honestly funny, because you'd assume that a coalition of alien races that invented large-scale interplanetary travel, perfect translation technology (including nanobots that actually go into your throat, so a little biotech there), hovering transportation, sound wave weaponry, and a FRIGGIN LIFE GENERATION VIRUS THAT CAN AWAKEN DEAD PLANETS, amongst other things, would have something akin to radio or video calls before the humans, but...no- save for one instance where it mentions Besteel was "in communication with someone" from his campsite- which would have been complicated, if he didn't have some sort of device for it. Also in the shuttle the cearuleans used in book two the pilot mentioned "making contact with Solas" so I assume that hints at some sort of radio communication, accessible from the shuttle.
Also they use actual physical people (little alien rabbit looking dudes) as messengers at one part in book one, so despite all of this highly advanced tech, they're still somewhat 'behind' humans when it comes to long-distance communications, we assume from what the books tell us.
So overall: maybe something akin to it in a very few select cases (maybe Zin might have given Besteel something to communicate with him in case he captured unique specimens, but again, it never delved too far into that so we don't know). So they have it sort of, but it isn't very widely used (now that I think of it, that's probably because only that small part of Orbona is populated so they have no real serious need of long-distance communication).
#had to scan the books a bit for this one because I could only recall those few instances off the top of my head#sorry about the word salad brain won't brain lately#ask#thank you for the ask#wondla#wondla trilogy

Hmm, ok. I think it's finally time to accept that I have to stay peanut free. Any format. They need to go.
Anyhoo....Not gonna cry about it. It is what it is.
A very steady day. One walk and two short, medium effort home workouts.
Upper body strength after my walk. Then full body barre before lunch.
I was going to do something later, but the motivation wasn't there, for a few different reasons.
Still waiting for my omnipod/dexcom insulin pump loop system to settle down. No progress whatsoever, it seems.
That is definitely impacting both my physical and mental energy. Not exactly helping my emotional energy either.
But I keep tiptoeing through. I won't accept any other choice.
I've stuck pretty close to my macro targets, even with an extra (totally emotionally driven) snack. Mixed nuts (the ones I'm ok with), olive oil spray and sea salt. That's now my regular breakfast from tomorrow, unless i think of something else. That extra snack obviously wasn't my breakfast, lol!
The pic is from those final peanuts this morning.
I've got to put myself back into "take each day as it comes" mode.
Other "life stuff" going on right now, too. So I'm having to acknowledge this isn't a time to push.
I'm really glad I'm halfway through my 100 mile challenge to support the MIND mental health charity.
I'm seriously lacking donations, which saddens me, but I'm looking at it as a personal achievement interest, and the knowledge that I'm doing what I can to help out and show support for an excellent cause. I've also donated money myself.
Let's see what tomorrow brings....

My omnipod stuff got approved!!!
I’m excited to try it out, and with my insurance and the copay card they offer, it’ll be cheaper than my pump supplies monthly AND I won’t have to stock up on AA batteries like my life depends on it (it does)
If anyone has any tips, I’d love to hear them! Also I’ve been on the dexcom for like two?? years now if that means anything

WondLa ep 1 : go sit in the corner and think about what you've done
Prepare yourself for two things : A) Wow this story beat was so much better in the book + B) Wow this artstyle really sucks the life out of the world
Okay, if nothing else, Eva's design is really really cute. Though I don't know why they're pronouncing it Eh-va instead of E-va...like Eve which was what I always assumed was the reference.
Also, having just reread the book, the first chapter starts off in such a facinating way because you have that split second of "Oh no is she actually dying?" before the simulation is revealed. And I get that they want to run us through Eva's entire childhood, but the book does such a better job of showing us the world through Eva's eyes. Also I hate the new design/talkativeness of the Omnipod.
NO NO NO NO NO, WHY are they doing all of this context with Cadmus??? Cadmus was never even fully explored until book 2! Eva being in the dark about Cadmus's role in everything is kinda pivotal. Cadmus is a mystery that Eva has to figure out over the course of the books. Teased in the first book, explored in the second and third. Having Holo-Cadmus show up is just giving the game away. As well as the explanation about Earth.
As assumed, I hate hate hate Muthr's new design. Book Muthr is very clearly not human, a cool looking robot. It gives a sense of unease for anyone familiar with the genre, and makes us instinctually weary. And yet those expectations are subverted as Muthr's devotion and love for Eva is explored and cemented. By making her this lovable very human looking smoothed out plush, it robs the story of being able to have those more subtle interactions with the audience.
Surprise surprise they've aged Eva up, from 12 (in the book) to 16...for some reason. So much of the joy and fear of the book comes from Eva's fearlessness, a sort of recklessness only found in children. She has meetings with toys that she hides away in a shaft of the Sanctuary, she's held onto the WondLa since she could walk, she's terrified a good 2/3rds of the time and yet continuing in.
This Eva seems to just wander into things.
INCLUDING BESTEEL! Instead of him attacking on his own, it's Eva waving a light at him which shows him where to break in!
Aaaand she just fell off a cliff.
~Post Ep thoughts~
Wow, I kinda hate everything about this. I know I said I would watch all 7 episodes but honestly I might bail.
They've added in a few weird things.
First off, Eva just found the WondLa. In the first episode. None of her holding on to it for years and wondering. Nope, she's just exploring the service tunnel (which she also only found just now) and finds a fucked up hatch to the surface. Stuck in the hatch is the WondLa and it had a note on the back that said "EVA FIND ME" which is just very strange and I'm guessing it's connected to the main second change.
Secondly, instead of all the sanctuaries being connected, there are just meant to be 6 kids per sanctuary with their own wing. What Eva finds is the tunnel to the rest of the main sanctuary. Unclear what happened to the other kids, though it's implied they are either dead or never existed. This is such a strange way to go about it, and means that the world lacks the isolating feeling that Eva experiences when she realizes that she is the only human, and while fellow book readers will know that Eva is not exactly alone either the whole point of the first book was to drive home the alien aspect of the world and the Eva being very much alone.
Fucking hell these episodes are only 20 minutes but it took me a full hour given how much I was pausing to angrily write down my notes.
Okay, onwards to episode too. We'll see how this goes

Asmo my love <333. Take this very self indulgent drabble of Asmo with a diabetic S/O, hehe.
"Hon, please be careful." Asmo's worried voice came from right beside you as he watched you fiddle around with the omnipod on your thigh. "It's fine, Asmo." You reassured as you grabbed your PDM from next to you on the bed. "I've been doing this for years." Asmo couldn't help but feel nervous everytime he watched you change out your insulin pod or give yourself a insulin shot, it bothered him more then he'd like to admit. Still, Asmo couldn't help but admire just how strong you were for doing this for so long. Asmo knew you saw it as a basic task because it was in your life but it never ceased to amaze him just how you do it. "I know, but still..." Asmo knew better then to question someone with experience like yours so he decided to just let it go. You pressed the button on your PDM and not even a second later you heard the first click. Anxiety filled your form but you made sure you had a firm grip on the fat of your thigh you were pinching. Then the second click came and you let out a small hum, nervously and impatiently waiting for the next three clicks before your insulin pod would insert the tube. Asmo sensed your anxiety and spoke up, he didn't blame you for getting nervous. "Oh, Hon-" the third click interrupted him. "It's okay, alright? After this we can cuddle." He cooed but didn't dare move, Asmo knew better. The fourth click came and you felt like your nerves would boil over. Despite being a diabetic for such a long time, it still made you nervous having to wait for your pod to actually insert itself with these quiet yet defeating clicks. You hated hearing the clicks but it was a part of your normal life by now, you had long since accepted them. Finally, after what seemed like a eternity, despite it only being a few seconds, the fifth click was heard and you felt a pain in your thigh. The pod finally inserted itself. "Ow." You hissed, it was a particularly painful. "Hon, Are you okay? Does it hurt really badly?" Asmo rubbed gently the skin of your thigh, around the area your pod, he learned to do so after seeing you do it so many times before, it was soothing for you. Asmo looked up with you with worried look and a frown on his pretty lips. How did Asmo look so pretty even with a frown on his face? You didn't know. I'll be fine, Asmo. Don't worry." You gave Asmo a small smile before looked back down at your PDM, pushing the okay button. Asmo waited for you to finish up before wrapping a arm around your waist, gently pulling you closer. "Now that you're done, how about we cuddle, Hon?" Asmo's worried look turned into a charming smile, one that made your heart melt. You loved when he smiled like that. "Yeah, of course. I'd love to cuddle." You kissed Asmo on the cheek before putting down your PDM and scooting even closer to Asmo. You placed your head on his chest, letting out a soft sigh. Asmo let out a hum, keeping his arm wrapped around your waist as his other hand soothingly rubbed circles into your thigh. "I love you, Hon. You're so strong, never forget that, okay? You did so good." Asmo didn't take to take the opportunity to whisper praises in your ear that made you blush, not that you minded though. "I love you too."

The way diabetics learn about the risks of the disease has permanently altered my brain in comical ways.
So today, I bumped into a doorframe and knocked the omnipod out of my leg but didn't look and therefore didn't know I was bleeding from the site. I went to hang a curtain and looked down and a bunch of blood had dripped onto a specific toe and the blood had splattered around the area. And my initial instinct, as a diabetic absolutely terrified of losing my, at this point, totally healthy and normal feet, was that through some horrific and unmentioned complication, one of my toes had simply exploded and I had not been aware of this because I had developed neuropathy over the course of like an hour.
And granted, this is a funny story that I will be telling at work over the next few weeks, but it's also kind of sad. I've been warned for the last 16 years of every horrifying thing that could and, at least in the way most people talk about it, probably will happen to me, and I've been made terrified of every itchy spot on my feet and every minor vision change over the past few years and every sore spot in my mouth and this and that and everything all at once. Those doctors appointments I have every year, especially my eye doctor, are kind of nerve wracking because I always feel like, ok, this is going to be the year where they finally tell me my body is going to shit in irreparable ways.
There's a point to this in sort of a vague way, but in general. Stop feeding the diabetics in your life the stories about the ischemic bowels of your grandpa and your footless aunt. We know. Everyone knows. We've been told to the point that living a long and healthy life, while completely plausible, especially for young people now who started their lives with diabetes with today's resources, seems completely impossible and blindness and pain and suffering are an inevitability, and maybe we don't need that? Ok thanks.

If i can add my two sense bc I am also diabetic:
One of the more frustrating things with this as well is the "oh you can check your blood sugar at any time! And it will help correct your blood sugar!" And they'll also advertise the "latest tech" not compatible with that, now I haven't encountered the problem discussed here yet
But doctors will hype up the lastest device that's supposedly "better" but they'll remove compatibility with the stuff that's actually helpful for example Omnipod 5 reads Dexcom G6 but isn't compatible with later or earlier versions for either way so if I wanna keep my life easier, well I better hope that they make compatibility and don't force me to upgrade because then my blood sugar will probably go whack again

Vent? Rant? Idek man
(Very mild TW: medical assistance, Type one diabetes, blo0d mentioned, medication)
So my mum has Type one (no not the one you get when you’re overweight, the one that requires constant monitoring and manual correction for blood glucose levels) and she’s had it basically my entire life. I think I had just turned 5 when she got her diagnosis, so I’ve always had this thought that I was obligated to care for her, and I have done in the past. Whether that’s learning how to inject pure glucose whilst calling for help if she gets dangerously low on a hike(thankfully this has never happened). Or fill, connect and apply her OmniPod or go to a shop and buy her a coke or take a sugar sachet from the tables for her, sit in the car on the side of the road with her while her blood sugar levels out and it’s safe for her to drive again.
And honestly I don’t care about all that, it’s basically second nature now. It’s the fear I have around it that I hate. I hate that I get nightmares that her pod and sensor stop working or scan wrong and she doesn’t get it sorted in time, it’s scary thinking about your mum collapsing because her life saving devices didn’t feel like it that day. And the most annoying part is my brother (who’s 7 years older) it was never really his job, he doesn’t know all the stuff about it that I do, I’ve been her carer since the beginning. Like even when I was really little and she was taking a million different pills and vitamins I would always help her with which ones to take on each day, a job I have also done for my dad my entire life, whom has heart disease and has to take very specific pills each day and has a weekly planner to organise which ones to take on what day, so I’d always help him fill it at the end of the week (much less now but it’s definitely like a core memory).
So uhh yeah
