I like how the tumblr poll feature allows me to ask people their opinions on the most trivial shit. Also this is not just about English! Are there any conditions under which you have opinions on spelling that only occur in another language? Please do share!

Personally for me it’s just the second one, bc I find with the phoneticism issue that as long as it follows rules I don’t mind if it isn’t one letter to the same sound every time or whatever. And English follows a few sets of rules as the frankenlanguage it is, but I can usually figure out the spelling if I can listen for what set of rules it follows.
