“ no , i'm fine , really . though i appreciate the help back to my feet . ” the moment she's let go of , sophie brushes any dirt and wrinkles from the skirt of her dress , looking over herself to check for tears . “ no damage , thank goodness . i'm hardly any good fixing dresses , they're so different from hats . . . ”

big brown eyes shift up to the other , expression just a tad bit brighter than when they'd found her . “ hmm . i suppose i ought to be more careful around here , shouldn't i ? ”

he sits at the bar in silence . fingers press a shortened cigarette into an ashtray to put it out , the leftover smoke still filling the air around him . his other hand hovers over a now - empty glass , pointer finger gently tapping at the rim , and his eyes drift towards the person behind the bar in waiting .

“ another would be great , ” he states , expectantly staring at the bartender . after a moment of silence , spike sighs , checking his pack of smokes to notice that it's empty . “ damn . . . guess i'll have to get more before i head back . ”

he turns to look at the other , motioning a hand to get their attention . “ you don't have a spare on you , do you ? ”
